Why does my iMac (with Mountain Lion) no longer recognize my external hard drive I have used as a back up via Time Machine after the hard drive was accidentally unplugged?
Do you mean the external hard drive is not mounted on the iMac desktop?
Check if Disk Utility sees the drive. Applications / Utilities / Disk Utility. If the external shows up in the left column, select it and click on Mount.
If it does show up this way, I recommend using DU to Repair Disk.

Why does my iMac with Mountain Lion fail to print.
My iMac with Mountain Lion fails to find my 2 networked printers on 50% of the occasions I try to print. Even though I have earlier switched the iMac on, the only way I can get the iMac to see the printers is to restart the iMac? After that I have no more probs. Leaving the iMac on standby overnight doesn't seem to help as the problem frequently re-occurs the next day
The Brother Laserjet printer and iMac are cabled to my router, while the HP Photoprint uses wi-fi connection. There is a PC/Windows 7 also on the network which shares the printers.
I seem to get no help from the Printer utilities in system preferences.
Any suggestions what I need to do to eliminate this apparent breakdown in communication between the printers and my iMac.Hello Mike17swr,
Thanks for the post. I'm not sure which model of Photosmart printer that you have connected, but I have included a link below with some great t-shooting steps to help identify the issue. Good Luck!

HT1338 I have tried to updated my iMac with Mountain Lion.
HELP!! I have tried to updated my iMac with Mountain Lion, OS X 10,8,3 (12D78) to 10,8,4, it keeps asking me to restart to install the updates, having tried this 20 times the app still has update available and I just go round again. how can I get this to finish and update correctly
Try downloading the update from the Apple Downloads site. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658
Or, you might try booting into Safe Mode and try to install through App Store. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455 -
if you have internet sharing on imac with Mountain Lion its stil problem with sleep mode ! why ???
Log a bug with Apple, with whatever details you can provide. In the interrim, consider acquiring a router; either a repurposed x86 box running open-source networking or gateway software, or a commercial device.

Falcon 4.0 Allied Forces does not work with Mountain Lion and Nvidia 650M
I have the new Imac with Mountain Lion and the base, built in Nvidia GeForce 650M card. I bought the Falcon Allied Forces game app from the app store, but the in-game graphics are unusable, pixelated, and generally garbage. It does not appear there are any patches out there to correct this? Has anyone had any luck correcting this issue? From what I can gather, it seems it worked fine on other macs prior to Mountain Lion? So is this an Apple patch, or a game developer patch that needs to go in place?
bozhoz, I replied to your last post on Falcon 4 contact Amy <[email protected]> and ask her whats going on. The last time I spoke to her she said it was apples problem!?!?. However it says the sim works on macs and is in the App store it should run!!!!

i have an iMac with mountain lion 10.8.3 with boot camp 5.0.2 .i installed windows 7 -64 bit with boot camp but the boot camp didn't install drivers for windows please guide me for trouble shooting .
Kappy wrote:
Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable. -
I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS. Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes. This has been going on for a couple of days. I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference. Any advice, please?
Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
HD/ Library
and
HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library) -
I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion - signing out means losing contacts, etc.
Help. I have tried to sign out of I cloud on my Imac with Mountain Lion but it says if I do so it will either delete my contacts, documents, etc. from the computer. Something is not right here. How can I prevent this from happening? Thank you.
You have to remember that your email, calendars and contacts live on the iCloud server, not on your Mac, and your Mac reads them from there (like webmail)*. So if you sign out, you don't affect the actual data in any way because it's still on the server, but your Mac loses access to it. When you sign back in it's all still there.
However, as Julian says, there is no reason to sign out unless you are actually having a technical problem that may be solved by signing out and in again. The whole idea is to stay signed in at all times.
*Just to clarify, your Mac maintains a cached copy of the data to speed things up, and so that you can still see it when you are signed in but have no internet connection; but this cache is deleted when you sign out. For practical purposes you can ignore it. As with all caches (and your Mac has a lot) it's hidden (hence the name) and can't be regarded as an actual copy. -
HT1338 preview does not work with mountain lion
I updated my mid 2011 mac mini to mountian lion and i find Preview and all of MS Office 2011 for MAC fails to work
I can cut and paset the logs, but lets astart with assessing whagt does not work with Mountain Lion.Your profile lists a 2008 MacBook with Snow Leopard.
I installed Windows XP into Bootcamp on my 2009 MacBook Pro (either in Leopard or Snow Leopard, I do not remember which) and I used it with Parallels 6.
When I upgraded it to Lion, even though the Lion Bootcamp will NOT install Windows XP, my Bootcamp (and use by Parallels 7) survived the upgrade.
It may be possible that it will also survive and operate a future upgrade to Mountain Lion. -

Does cs3 work with mountain lion?
Does CS3 work with Mountain Lion? or even Mavericks? Help!
Officially, Adobe supports CS5.5, CS6 and CC in Mountain Lion. I think only CS6 and CC in Mavericks. But many users here report being able to use any of the CS3 or later versions up to Mountain Lion without noticeable issues. Not enough reports yet by Mavericks users to say how well older versions work.

Does Onyx work with Mountain Lion?
Does Onyx work with Mountain Lion? Also, if a program asks you to start up from disk, and you have Mountain Lion which was downloaded, then wouldn't that old disk replace the newer software?
Before using Onyx, or any such utility, you should backup your data:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
note the 'b' in the version number of programs indicate it is a beta. What I like to call a buggy everyday test application, or simply putting it, you are a guinea pig for the software developer. Once you are sufficiently backed up, for what reason do you desire to use Onyx? Mac OS X does its own "maintenance", and really Onyx should only be used to troubleshoot a backed up system. -
