Why does my iPod freeze when I plug it in?

Everytime I plug my iPod classic into my computer, it freezes. It turns on, so it knows something has happened, but it freezes and doesn't get recognised by the computer, and the charging symbol doesn't appear on the battery. Then I unplug it, reset it, and plug it back in, and the computer reads it. This happens every single time I plug it in. Does anyone know how to fix it?

The cause of all this problem, is the iTunes having timeouts accessing the iPod, so to prevent it happening I would suggest the following, when you want to plug in the iPod.
Disconnect all other USB devices, except keyboard and mouse
Use the USB2.0 port (at the back of the desktop, if you are not using a notebook)
Do not use any USB Hub.
Antivirus or other plugins conflict with iTunes - Stop the Antivirus and plugins,
Disconnect from Internet, as malware and other broswer plugins interferes with the Sync.
But do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but let you know if your Hardisk need replacing.

Brian, another way of looking at this is: how many devices do you have connected to the USB port (the same one)? I've found through using external storage devices that one port can handle two devices. I had four going at once one time, but the same thing happened, only two would evenually connect.
There's a limit to connections per USB port, I'm just trying to see if you have too many connectins on one port. If so, obviously, if you have other USB ports available, plug the nano into it's own port and see if that "cures" the missing nano.

Every time I open the music app, the touch screen doesn't work. I downloaded the new iTunes ans synced my iPod to my computer, and it didn't fix the problem. What can I do?

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPod.

Autostart is controlled by your operating system. check the relevant system control panel or right-click the drive letter of your memory card to change these options in teh properties.

IPod freezes when I plug it into iTunes

Everytime I try and update my iPod with iTunes, not only does it not appear on my computer, my iPod itself freezes. I've tried rebooting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and holding Menu and Select on my iPod. My iPod unfreezes when I unplug it from my computer, so it can't be the iPod itself.

In what way do you mean 'freezes'? Do you mean that it freezes on the menu screen, or simply puts up the 'do not disconnect' sign and is not recognised by the computer?
I had a problem with mine doing this at first too. Try not opening iTunes, but allow your computer to recognise your iPod and open it automatically. Leave them together for a while, dont just expect them to connect instantly.
Also, check that your pod is connected to the USB 2.0 port, not that 1.0 port. The 2.0 port is normally found at the back of your computer, whereas the 1.0 is often at the front.
I'm not a technician and I don't have any specialist knowledge. If that hasn't helped, try contacting Apple helpdesk. Be sure to stress that this does come within their jurisdiction, as the fault is with your iPod connecting, not just iTunes recognising it!

When you say, "disk repairs" are you referiring to permissions or verifying the disk because clearly there's a problem.
Boot from your install disc, run Disk Utilty to "verify" and if necessary repair the startup disk. (Not Verify Disk Permissions).

My computer is currently Mac OS X 10.5.4 and it is trying to update to 10.5.8 but every time i try to update it just freeze when it shuts down to restart and install.

How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
When you have problems updating software, that's a good time to check the startup disk. Launch Disk Utility /Applications/Utiliites

Why is my itunes freezing when i plug in my ipod

I have one of the newer ipod touches and when I tried to put the newest update on it, everything went wrong. The newest update is on it, however, everytime I plug it into my computer itunes freezes. Ive tried everything that apple has told me to do.

Try the following (these are separate suggestions):
Restart the computer.
Reset the iPod using the two button combo.

then connecting to computer. If iTunes can now access the iPod without freezing, you should use Restore to erase the iPod and initialize the iPod's software. Then you can set it up and re-sync your songs.

i've recently updated my itunes. After plugging in my iPod classic to my itunes to put some new music on there, it begins syncing then stops on a certain song. I have set my iPod back to default settings and then began putting all of my music back on once more and again, the sync has frozen at song 600.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000050 (0xb5a9f897, 0x0000000, 0xf89788e4, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini08009-09.dmp.
Can I stop this "bugcheck" from happening again?

Two months ago I had difficulty starting Editor when working in PE 12 and after lengthy chat lines with adobe support I was advised that PE12 was corrupt and I should update to Photoshop Elements 13. I reinstalled windows 7 and then Photoshop 13 and this worked fine until recently. Now when working in Editor after editing photos for an hour or so Editor freezes. It seems to be after I have printed off photos. The only was to close Editor is to go into the Task Manager. Anyone else had similar problems?

Why does my Firefox freeze when I open my news feed on Facebook?

For a few days now, everytime I go to my news feed on Facebook, Firefox freezes and I have to force it to stop. This means everytime I click on the Facebook logo or go to www.facebook.com.
I have already reinitialised Firefox, but that doesn't help the problem.
Why is this happening?

Ok... I found a temporarily fix... go to facebook.com, then click the (X) button in the bar to make the page stop loading. it should only be half loaded... if firefox locks up, you waited too long. Click on your name in the corner. Then when that loads, click home, next to your name!!!!! There is your news feed! Hope this works... It worked for me. Enjoy!!!
