Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps?

Why does my iPod keep on crashing when I run high memory apps? I have a 32 gb 4th gen iPod Touch with only 11gb used, and I currently run 6.1.5 Everytime I run a high memory app, without fail it crashes. These apps include but are not limited to instagram, infinity blade, subway surfer, gmail, clear vision 3, dropbox, and even Safari has crashed on multiple occasions. I tried resetting the settings and that seemed to work for about a day but now I'm back at square one.

  • TS1441 why does my ipod keep showing the itunes thing after I restored it three time what should I do please help!

I need help why does my ipod keep saying connect to itunes,I have already restored it 7 times what to do now.HELP ME!

If the restores were successful, that is completed all steps without errors then:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • What happened to the youtube app and why does my ipod keep crashing?

I updated my ipod touch 4g to iOS 6.0 and what happened to the youtube app? And why does my ipod keep on crashing when ever I go to the app store? Now i can never buy anything!!! or watch youtube videos and I'm always on youtube!!!!!!!!

As has been very well publicized in the news and all over the internet and forums, youtube is not part of ios 6.  Google it.
You can get the app from the app store if you like.
Have you tried the basics from the manual to stop the crashing?
    Restart, reset, restore.

Why does my ipod keep saying 'your apple ID has been disabled when i try to get a free app???

If you rest it on your computer's iTunes then try logging out of your account on the iPod by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.

Why does my ipod keeps powering off, when I have to turn it on ... I have to press on the power button and the screen button at the same time ??? over and over again. I just got this in December 2011 as a gift.

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

  • Why does my Ipod keep freezing up during playback,

Why does my Ipod 3 keep freezing up? I have reset it as discribed in the online help 4 different times and it still freezes.
I at first thought it was due to the song was an MP3 but it has since froze on ACC and CDA audio. This would tell me it isn't the format that is causing it to freeze.

By a reset do you mean an actual hard reset of the device or a restore of it in iTunes?  If it was the former, try a restore of the device in iTunes.  If it was the latter, your iPod likely needs servicing.

  • Why does my iPod keep turning off by itself

why does my ipod touch keep turning off by itself?

Is it running hot? There are thermal limits that will shut it down.
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • Why does my iPod keeps saying "Trust Computer?" and iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod?

I connect my iPod to my laptop, and everytime my iPod keeps showing up this "Trust This Computer?" I always answer "Trust" , but when I connect again it asks the same question. Also when my iPod is connected it doesn't show up in iTunes. It shows up in my laptop in "Devices and Drives" as 'Apple iPod'. It doesn't even show up as the name I gaved it. Please help, I want to add music to my iPod but I can't because of this problem.

  • Why does my ipod keep breaking

I have had to replace my ipod four times already in the past two years. it goes to sad icon, and won't reset or restore. could there be something i'm doing? i don't abuse it, i don't play it forever. i keep it protected with a skin, and i keep it out of the skin because i thought it might be overheating but that wasn't it. there seems to be no one at apple that wants to answer why this problem keeps happening, and i have no idea where to lodge a complaint. if it could be something i'm doing, i'd be happy to stop, they said it couldn't be my computer, and i don't have any viruses. thanks

My experience with 4G 40G iPods has been similar. Reliability has been poor. (I have three 40G units of which two have failed and been replaced a number of times by Apple).
On a positive note each time one of my iPods failed it was replaced promptly with another unit by the local Apple reseller.
The pain was dropping-off and picking-up the units. (My choice after using the courier service with the attendant lead times).
In a post to this forum someone suggested the 40G 4G iPod is particularly prone to failure and this seems to be borne out by a survey done last year by
    http://www.macintouch.com/reliability/ipodfailures.html
The best you can do is to follow the Apple's 5Rs, read the guidance on the Apple site and keep an eye on the date when your warranty is due to end. The extended waranty is also worth considering if you've been plaughed by unreliability.

  • Why does my iPod keep resetting on IOS 8?

Since I updated to IOS 8 around this time last week, my iPod Touch 5th gen has crashed 3 times. To reset it I have had to plug it in to my computer, which is inconvenient when I am in lectures all day and my iPod stops working first thing in the morning, or when the alarm doesn't go off because it has tried to reset itself in the middle of the night.
What am I supposed to do to stop it from refusing to work? I have had only one occurrance of this over the last 2 years and that's because it overheated, which it definitely is not doing now.

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.
