Sounds to me like you may have gotten a machine with hardware issues, but it's hard to say.  It will shut down if it gets too hot, but that's not a normal occurrence.  I have never seen a MacBook Pro shut down due to heat, even after lengthy 3D gaming sessions where the fans are running fast and the bottom of the machine is unpleasant to touch.
First thing I would try to do is reset the SMC.  If that doesn't help, erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from scratch, which you should always do with a used machine anyway.
If a fresh system doesn't help, you'll need to get it checked out by Apple.
Edit: Oh, and sig is absolutely right...  please don't post in all caps!  It's very irritating.

    Hmm, good luck then!
I'm pretty much exactly on the opposite side of the planet, but I've been to Vermont and remember its rural beauty well. However, I can't imagine you having the only Internet connection within a reasonable radius (where "neighbors" hanging off the same ISP don't count). Uh, that note only if your wired connection to the router produces no good result, either...

Not much to work with here...
How about more info so a diagnosis and help can be formulated? Mac model (size), RAM, OS version, age, battery status? What are you doing when it happens? How often? And if you want to be really abundant, pertinent logfiles?

  • Why does my macbook pro keep shutting down with a charged battery

Why does my Mac book pro keep shutting down? I lose everything I am working on when it shuts down  help

    kva,
which model MacBook Pro do you have? Is it running Mac OS X 10.5.5? If not, which version of OS X is currently installed on it?
Are you running on battery when it shuts down, or are you running on AC when it shuts down, or does it happen in either case? Which app are you working in when it shuts down? Does it happen only in that app, or does it happen no matter which app you’re working in?

  • Why does my Mac book keep freezing? Help!

Why does my Mac book pro keep freezing at the login screen making it impossible for me to log into my laptop?? A multi color spinning disc keeps appearing even before I am able to type in my entire password. This keeps on happening even after a hard restart.

Hard to tell, run through this list,

Step #18 can create a new Admin account on the machine, however shoud be a last resort.

Why does my new ipad air keep shutting down?

No one here can answer that. Try a reset (hold the home and power keys down until the Apple logo appears). If that does not help, take it in for diagnosis.

  • Why does my 15' macbook keep shutting down?

I never had this problem till recently. My macbook keeps shutting down around the 60% mark on the battery indicator.
I have requested for the new battery, as my battery is eligible. I'm hoping this will fix the problem.
Also, the light on the mag-safe power cord does not stay on. If I unplug it and then plug it back in then the light will pop on.
    Has anyone encountered this?
Could it be the 10.4.8 update?

Try resetting the PMU (Power Management Utility)
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
    3. Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
    4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
    5. Press the Power button to restart the computer.
    Hope this works

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-System/m-p/228990#U228990
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. After installing the OS package to your PC, please remeber to delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • HT4623 Why does our ipad 3 keep shutting down

Our Ipad 3 shuts down while using it, sometimes it resets and other times it does nothing. It is at the point to where you cannot even use it because it shuts down so much...less than two years old.

I would suggest a reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears if this was a once r twice occurrence, but since it happens repeatedly, I would just bite the bullet and restore the iOS software. If that doesn't help, make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them to take a look at the iPad.
Your battery might be going, there could be a short ... Something hardware related that you would not be able to fix on your own.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Why does my iPhone 5 keep shutting down?

Recently, my iPhone 5 just freezes and then shuts down.  It doesn't respond to anything I try to do to get it to turn on again.  After about 10 or so minutes, it just turns itself back on.  Weird and totally frustrating.  Today, for example, it has done it three times already!  I never had this problem before, and have noticed that this whole problem started after I downloaded the latest software release (7.0.2).  Any suggestions?

Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. Restore is more thorough than Update. If still problem after Restore, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.
