Why does my MBP15 take forever to load images from websites?

Hello all! Well the title tells my problem. It seems like most web pages load small images and avatars very slowly....is something wrong with my computer? Anyone else have slow loading images from websites? It does not seem to matter which website I visit...all are slow.
Anyone help? Thanks.

  • Why does my iPad take forever to charge?

Why does my iPad 2 wi fi take forever to charge?

The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes.

  • Why does Time Machine take forever?

Just using Time Machine for the first time today. It's been running for nearly four and half hours, only displaying "Indexing backup..." with no progress indication at all. Does it really take this monumentally long the first time you use it?
Sorry if this question is redundant... I find the new Apple discussions board absolutely horrible to use... use to be super easy to search thru previous posts but it seems like the new search function can't find anything. (Another case of a company fixing something that wasn't broken and ruining it in the process.)

Yes. It must copy the entire contents of your hard drive to the backup. Are you backing up to a networked drive like a Time Capsule? If so, it will take even longer. Don't bother trying it without connecting via ethernet cable first. Event then it will take overnight. Subsequent backups are very small and will work fine over WiFi, even faster with a directly connected disk.

Apple doesn't bother trying to be everything to everyone. They make the best products they can in what they think is the best way. If you think that is horrible and broken, you are free to go elsewhere. Searching for this topic is definitely something I would consider super easty. I was quite familiar with the old system and the old search engine. It was profoundly broken and useless.

  • Why does my iPhone take forever to turn on?

Recently my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) takes at least 10 minutes to power on after the battery dies.  Sometimes up to 30 minutes.  Any idea what could be causing this?  Obviously I'll do a full restore if I have to, but trying to avoid that if possible.  My phone is NOT jailbroken either.  Thanks!

First, it is not good for the battery to run it into the ground -- don't do that often if you expect it to last.  When this happens, the phone needs to build up enough charge to boot up safely, which probably explains the 10 minute delay.

  • Why does the autocomplete take forever when addressing an email?

Orignal iPad. OS is current. It takes a long time for the email addres to show up after I type 4-5 characters. A lot slower than on iphone,, macbook and intel mac desktop. Used to be a lot faster.

The files on your internal HD and/or backups may have been damaged by the power loss.
Verify your internal HD, and Repair your backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If you have trouble cancelling a backup, see #D6 in that same link.

  • Why does aperture (OSX 10.7.5) delete image from album deletes master in project sometimes.

When on occasion does Aperture delete the masters and all versions when you delete from an album. This absolutely should not happen. If you create an albbum of selected images and when you have finished delete the album as not needed it deletes certain masters connected to that album as well. At the moment you can make an album fronm selected images but never dare delete it as you have no idea what you will lose!
    Getting fed up with aperture!!

Well, if we can catch you in a welcoming mood, let us see if we can't pro-actively correct some other user errors  , just in case.
A simple place to begin is my concise guide to the parts of Aperture.
Here are some other resources of note.
Aperture is a fantastic program.  It is, however, almost certainly not, at heart, like any other program you've ever used.  Understanding the differences will certainly keep you from getting fed up with the program.

  • Why do thumbnails take forever to load?

As the title suggests - why do the thumbnails take forever to load?. It is incredibly frustrating as I'm dealing with over 500 clips and I have to wait for these thumbnails to load. I come from Avid and decided to switch to Premier because of the available workflows. I've never had this issue using Avid so I know for sure it has nothing to do with my system. Any ideas? Furthermore, the media say that it is pending every now and them, why is this?

Same issue. I've chatted with customer support and I'll summarize how helpful they were.
Customer support took control of my computer in order to try and resolve the problem. I'm not sure what they did but they made everything WORSE. They deleted all my cache and did a whole bunch of other crap. Thumbnails don't load anymore - period. Questions regarding my other concerns - media pending, videos not playing, audio not importing - were completely ignored. Now here is where it gets better. This guy helping me out didn't respond for 30 minutes, I was wondering if he was further looking into it, but then it hit 7PM, when customer service closes. Apparently when the going gets tough and they have no idea how to resolve a situation, Adobe bleeds out and waits for 7PM to hit so they can just brush us off. I'm pissed.
Looks like I'm going back to Avid and just round trip to Divinci.

  • TS5367 why do images take forever to load in my mail?

just upgraded to 10.8.3 and now my mail takes forever to load images, banners, html, etc. even images that were previously loaded arent there when I reopen the program Mail v6.3

Seems like it is still in the downloading process which may provide some lag time. Do you have slow or limited internet?

  • Movies take forever to load

I just bought an apple tv two days ago and a new router today as mine was about 6 years old. My apple tv has no problem picking up the songs in my itunes, but takes forever to load movies from itunes. all the movies are digital copies as well. any reason this happens? is it common and how is it fixed?

Likely to be slow LAN connection - if possible try a direct ethernet connection to router to see if it makes a difference.
Have you tried with the old router?
As digital copies will usually be less than 5Mbps and standard def you don't need blistering LAN rates, but if slower than this they will need to prebuffer.
If not a connectivity issue (describe how all equipment is connected in the LAN and wi-fi type if any), then consider itunes library corruption (create a new library with a few things in to test) and also security software that may see repeated access from AppleTV as a threat and be slowing/blocking it (eg NetBarrier).

  • Why does my Windows Live Hotmail take forever to load?

Over the past month or so, my Firefox browser hasn't been playing very nicely with Windows Live Hotmail. For one, it takes forever to load the page, and I stare at a white screen for a good 3 minutes before it finally loads. HughesNet is my Internet Service Provider, and it shouldn't take that much time for my Hotmail to load. I could see it if it were a DialUp connection being this slow! The other thing I want to mention is that for some reason, my SilverLight plugin keeps crashing! All of my 3rd party plugins are fully up to date, including my SilverLight. It won't allow me to upload pictures to attach to e-mails! Instead, I get a sad face, telling me that my SilverLight has crashed! What is the problem that is causing this? So you know, I have the latest version 9.0.1, and it is fully up to date. Thank you. Michael Gronemeyer

    Hi,
Please try a '''Ctrl''' + '''F5''' refresh. This helps to bring in content afresh.
Please also check if the page loads okay in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode.] Additionally, you can also try to '''Enable''' Silverlight via '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', click '''Plugins''' on the left and check if Silverlight still crashes.

I have a HP laptop & Dell desktop with IE7 and Firefox. I use Firefox more as I like it better than IE, yet the pages in Firefox load so slow. I thought the new version of Firefox was so much faster, but it seems to drag along and take forever to load pages. Why is this??

  • File encoded with x264 takes forever to load in Encore CS 5.5

I use Encore mostly because it takes h.264 video encoded with the x264 compressor, which provides much higher quality than any other compressor. The problem is that these files take forever to load. For example, right now I'm trying to load a video that is about 1 hour and 20 minutes long, encoded at 38 Mbps, and the file is 20.9 GBytes. Now it's 3 PM and I imported this file along with the AC3 file over an hour ago. The Encore process shows as not responding, but when I open the Windows 7 Resource Monitor, in the disk tab it shows that it's reading the video file at a rate of about 45 MB/s, so I didn't kill the Encore process. I know eventually it's going to stop and load the file, but I don't understand why it takes so long. The encoding parameters that I used in x264 are these:
    x264 --level 4.1 --bluray-compat --preset slow --bitrate 38000 --keyint 30 --min-keyint 2 --open-gop --weightp 0 --slices 4 --vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 40000 --rc-lookahead 40 --tff --output "output" "input"
This comes from a family video that is 1080 59.94i. This time these two parameters appeared because I selected Blu-ray as the target:  --bluray-compat and --open-gop, which I don't normally use, but still, even when I don't use them, video encoded with x264 takes forever to load. Does anybody here know what could be the problem?

What's weird is last year I encoded a file that was almost two hours long and Encore took it without trouble, although it was CS5, not 5.5. Since I had kept the avs and bat files, and also the x264.exe from that encode, I brought them into the current working folder and I just modified the file names in the avs and bat files to point to the new avi and encode to the new h264 file. So I encoded this file, I imported it into Encore, and it still hangs. Maybe it was a change from CS5 to 5.1 that introduced a problem. x264 has been certified to be Blu-ray compliant since over a year ago, and I already put this file to a Blu-ray with TSMuxer, since it was a family video and I didn't really need menus, and it plays perfectly fine in my Blu-ray player.
But I'm sure there must be something, one or two parameters that would make it compatible. For example, after encoding the file again the last time, now I can import it into Encore, and it doesn't stay frozen forever, but it doesn't show me the video and as soon as I try to move the timeline cursor it freezes and doesn't let me do anything for several minutes. So still it's not usable. But it's a change from the first encode where the progress dialog would be there for several hours and do nothing at all.

  • Quicktime videos take forever to load on my system

Is it me alone, or does anyone have the same problem? I have a excellent system, and nothing takes forever to load on it, only Quicktime videos. The only reason why I use quicktime on my XP machine is to watch the videos that are downloaded from my Kodak camera memory card since the camera saves its video files as quicktime videos, but it takes forever for the video files to load after I have downloaded them and saved them into a folder on my system. When I want to go back and view the videos, the folder freezes until all the videos, even if it is only one video in the folder loads. Why is that? Other video files load immediatley from avi, wmv,to divx, etc.
    Does anybody have a solution?

  • Quicktime X is incredibly slow and previews take forever to load

Quicktime takes forever to load an MKV (Perian installed), but also takes its sweet time with other longer vidoes. Finder Previews (off to the side in column view) take forever to load, with QTserver (I think that's the process) taking up huge cpu resources while doing so.
I want to love Quicktime, I really do. It looks great. But its performance is just utterly frustrating at times. I don't know what happened but I never had these problems with Quicktime 7.
Why the does Quicktime behave like this?

    http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2009/08/mac-os-x-10-6.ars/6#qtkit
You don't have to use the X version of QuickTime on your Snow Leopard machine. You can use QuickTime Player 7.6.3 if you like.
