Why does Photoshop 6 crash when I try to open a file?
After opening Photoshop 6 I click on "open" to open a file. sometimes the program just closes down, and sometimes it opens a folder but I then get "Photoshop has encountered a problem and needs to close." Effectively, I no longer have the use of the software. What can I do to eliminate this problem?
(I am using Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.)Is that photoshop 6 or photoshop cs6?
I'd reset the photoshop preferences by holding down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after starting the launch of photoshop.
Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop settings file.
Press Yes because you do. -

Why does photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8) I've rebuilt pref.'s and reinstalled Photoshop with no positive results. I can create a new file but cannot "place" anything because that crashes as well.

Why does Photoshop Elements close when I try to get into Organizer?
I have no problem getting into my Photoshop Elements 8, have no problems going into Editing and editing photos, but when I try to get into the Organizer, Photoshop Elements closes, totally. This has happened in the past when I've been either working in Organizer or Editing, closed Photoshop, and then opened it shortly thereafter. However, if I closed it and waited several minutes, I'd have no problem getting into Organizer. Not this time. Was in it earlier today, couldn't get into Organizer when I tried later, waited a long time several times, with no luck.
One correction: If I open Elements and try to get into Organizer, Elements closes totally. If I'm in Edit and click on Organizer, nothing happens. I'm still in Edit, but can't get into Organizer from there.Suggest that you reset preferences. Sometimes this will correct strange behavior.
Exit PSE.
Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift) and keep pressing.
Click on "Edit" from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes." You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
This will rebuild the file for you and often solves the issue. -
Why does Flash CS5 crash when I try to select a tool?
I am using Flash CS5 on Mac OSX (version 10.6.8). It's the first time I've used Flash but am following a basic tutorial to create a christmas card with a falling snow effect. I've managed to import a picture as a background and add a layer on top which I planned to add the snow onto.
When I try to select any tool from the toolbar, Flash crashes with no explanation. Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas how to fix?

It doesn't appear to be a new issue but in that post the user suggested creating a new user (to clear system prefs). Can you try that? -
Why would Photoshop CS5 crash when I try to print (Mac OSX 10.8.2)?
I trashed the prefs. No help. Photoshop is usually bulletproof, but this is something new. W
hat is going on? Next I will re-assign the printers. Any help would be appreciated.I seem to have fixed it. I read some of the other "crash on print" posts and their replies, and evidence seemed to point to the printer drivers. So after some other, more drastic alterations, such as re-instaling the app-which didn't make any difference- I downloaded a batch of Brother printer drivers from an Apple (Who knew?) support site: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL894 entitled "Brother printer drivers 2.9 for Mac" and installed the lot of them. It added up to over 150 MB of drivers, but it was also coming from Apple rather than from Brother, and that appears to have made the difference. I'm not claiming that this is the Big Fix, but so far I can print from Photoshop now, whereas I couldn't print from PS at all before I installed these drivers. BTW, this install has also enabled me to get Printer Sharing working properly, which was impossible with the Brother driver downloads. It works now; it didn't work before I installed the Apple-blessed drivers. Apple and Adobe may not always be the best of friends, but in this instance at least, Apple made it possible for me to continue using Adobe Photoshop CS5. Go figure.

Why does Mail keep crashing when I try to open it
Hello
Recently I received an email (from a .gov address, no less) and when I tried to do anything to it - move it, delete it, etc, Mail would crash. Finally I got Mail to stop closing, but it's sitting on my Inbox.
Today I had cancel my camping reservation and, horrified, received another mail from them. I can no longer open Mail because that email is highlighted. Once it started to create a new account but I didn't want to lose my mailboxes and emails, so I stopped that.
I'd be grateful for any help.

I don’t fully understand what you say. If it’s just a particular message that causes Mail to crash, proceed as follows:
1. Launch Mail holding the Shift key down until the main window appears. This tells Mail to not select any mailboxes or load any messages upon start up.
2. Go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled -- having this setting enabled is a really bad idea for spam-related security reasons anyway.
If you have the preview pane visible, Mail may still crash again as soon as you select the troublesome message. You’ll have to either delete the message or move it to another mailbox to prevent Mail from accidentally trying to open it (the problem could be a bug in Mac OS X that might or might not be fixed in a future version). There are at least three ways of doing this without displaying the message contents:
3a. You can hide the preview pane by dragging the separator bar between the message list and the preview pane to the bottom of the window, or just double-click within the separator bar, so that the preview pane disappears and only the message list is visible. This would prevent Mail from trying to load the message when it is selected in the message list. To make the preview pane visible again, drag the separator bar up from the bottom of the window, or just double-click on it again.
3b. If you select the message with the mouse, the message is displayed in the preview pane when the mouse button is released, not when it’s pressed. This allows you to drag the message to the Trash or to any other mailbox without Mail trying to display its contents.
3c. Ctrl-clicking on a message causes a contextual menu to appear, from which you can usually (but not always, don’t ask me why) choose Delete or Move To, without the contents of the message being displayed in the preview pane.
BTW, please update the Operating System field on your My Settings’s profile (and click Save), so that it accurately reflects the version of Mac OS X you’re using now. -
Why Does photoshop quit unexpectedly when i try to open a file from my desktop?
I've always been able to do it previously but today i've had to reinstall all my files and applications (long story) and now for some reason it won't open any files from the desktop.
It seems to be fine if i open the same file from my documents so it just seems strange.
If anyone knows why its doing this that would be greatYou mean it crashes?

But first, make sure you have all the updates installed. -
Why does my executable crash when I try to run it?
My vi runs fine in LabView 6i, but when I build an executable and try to run it, it crashes. The program window starts to open, and then the crash occurs. This happens every time. Following the crash, I get Microsoft opportunity to send the details, then the following regarding the nature of the problem:

I don't believe the problem is in my vi since it runs perfectly as a vi. I have the LabView runtime module installed on my computer.
I'll welcome any assistance in resolving this problem, since I'm up against a deadline.

The same exe will run fine on a diferrent computer.
The vi runs fine. I'm going to rebuild an exe that worked before. I want to see if i get the same error.
