Why does the camera take grainy pictures

I have two iPads of the same ipads.
I noticed one of them takes grainy pictures and videos and the others quality is great.

I have not yet set them side by side.  But pretty much so.  One of them gets a poor
picture in sunny conditions,  they are both models with retina display.
The only difference is one
has more memory and a CDMA modem.

Why does the keyboard take over and type c's across the search box (no hands involved)?

There are only three possibilities. Either a dangling hand hitting the c key, or if you have a bluetooth keyboard connected and something is pressing a key, or you have some bad harware.  Eliminate the first two, and if you still have the problem, take it in for service or replacement

  • Why does the camera shutter stay closed?

Why does the camera shutter stay stuck?  The camera won't operate.  I've rebooted several times, I've changed settings several times, I've held by finger over each camera as demostrated on a youtube video.  Nothing has corrected the problem.

That happens sometimes.  See this ongoing discussion.  An appointment at the Genous Bar of an Apple store is probably in order:

  • All of a sudden my iPhone 5s restarts alone and the camera takes green pictures

All of a sudden my iPhone 5s restarts alone and now the camera takes green pictures
I have the iOS 7.1 and for four months it's been working great, not now

First thing to try is a reset: Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
If this doesn't help, back up and restore via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test. If the problem is solved, there is some kind of corruption in your backup file or maybe it's one of your apps causing problems. If it continues, take it to an Apple Store for evaluation of a possible hardware problem.

  • When I take a picture with my iPod touch 5G they do not come out as 4 inch pictures, how do I make it so the camera takes fitted pictures?

When I take a picture with my back camera the pictures have black bars on the top and bottom. They do not come out 4 inches. How do I fix this?

Because the screen aspect ratio is different that the camera aspect ratio. The only way it could fill the screen vertically would be either to stretch/distort  the photos vertically or to cut off some of the photos on the sides.

  • Why does my camera take foggy pics at night?

my camera takes pics fine during the day, but takes foggy pics at night.

I had the same problem, and the problem was the iPhone custom case I added to the back of my phone. Pictures taken during daylight were ok, but at night they were all foggy. I had to take off custom casing from the back because it was reflecting flash light (some cases not thin enough) and made pictures that way. So the case was the problem, try removing it and take some pics without it, if you have one on the back of your phone of course. hope it helps! good luck!

  • Why Does the camera on the iPhone only work with linkedin

Since i got my new iphone 4s the camera wouldn't work. The carrier checked the phone and said they would change the device, but i'm still waiting...
Turns out that i recently tried updating my linkedin  picture from the iphone and to my surprise the camera worked!
So it must be a software malfunction. Does Apple already know this and is there a workaround so i can finally use the camera?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

  • Why does the lion take a whole day to download?

i started my download last night and it said 1 day to install. Of course a storm knocked internet offline and I had to redownload. Why does it take a whole day to download?

It's 3.6 GB and solely dependent on Internet connection speeds. It takes about an hour on my relatively fast connection—15-20 Mbps downstream. Blame Apple for developing this insanely inefficient delivery method—they're heads are stuck in the clouds and they refuse to face reality.

  • Why does the camera not respond to tapping?

I have used  UITapGestureRecognizer so that an instance of UIImageView will respond to tapping when applied to images.  However, so far, the camera does not respond to anything I try in this regard.
Could it be that the camera view does not respond to tapping?
    Thanks.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • HT204380 why does the camera in my itouch spontaneously closes after a few seconds of opening it? there was this time that I used facetime and it became freakishly hot and then after that, I tried to open my camera but quickly closed by itself.

there was this time that I tried to use my facetime for a long time. Then after using it, it became very hot all over from the back till front. Then when I tried to open the camera function, it only went to the part where it shows the gray spiral covers without actually going to the actual camera then it went completely black and it went to home. The camera closes on its own now and i cant use it.

    1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar at bottom
    2. Hold the FaceTime/Camera app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close app
    4. Re-launch the app and test
Note: If necessary close all apps in the Task Bar

  • Why does my camera take foggy pics in nighttime/dark environments?

during the day, my camera works fine.  at night, the pics come out foggy.  is it defected?

You really need to define "foggy" better. Are you photos fine during the day just because the lighting is brighter? if so then you need more lighting at night, obviously.  However, it is very easy with phone cameras to put fingerprints on the little piece of glass that covers the lens on the phone.  Because the sensor is so small, a finger print is comparitively large to the sensor/pixel ratio.  Hence, each time you pull out your phone you really should check the glass is clean before using...in reallity it is quicker just to clean it each time rather than spend time checking if it is clean. So just do it.  If however, it is a matter of scene brightness and not foggyness, then two issues need addressing. Firstly, how far away is your subject?  if it is within 1.5 meters (4-5ft) then you can use the flash supplied with the phone, any further away than that and phone flashes are pointless and only serve to confuse the phone into taking poor photos.  In these instances you would be better to disable the phone flash and let the sensor compensate for the lack of light automatically, which it will do, if everything else is set to automatic.  By this I specifically mean the ISO settings.  You can check/set these manually.  Make sure the ISO is set to the highest setting (ISO 800 or greater).  This will produce more 'grain' in the photo but this is unavoidable and can even affect top end SLR's so don't feel bad. Secondly, if it is too dark to take photos then it is too dark to take photos - this is when 'reciproicity failure' sets in. Nothing can be done about this on a phone camera and is the reason people purchase SLR's, which can get around this using the 'Bulb' setting in the shutter speed dial.  Remember, you only get what you pay for and there is a reason why SLR's cost thousands.  It is because they produce better photos in more difficult situations than phones cameras can.  So don't expect huge things from a camera phone.

  • Iphone 6 camera takes a picture and the picture is missing

Question about the iphone 6. Two different occasions now i have taken a picture with the stock camera app, the picture shows up in the bottom left preview window and when i go to click it and it takes me to the photo app, the picture is not there. Preview always stays there for the picture but the picture is missing. The first time it happened i tried to reboot the phone, it was still there, then i did a restore  and then the picture preview was finally gone. Now it happened again and i would like to not restore my phone again. Is anyone having this issue? It happened once before the ios8 update and after it. I have been searching all over and cant seem to find anyone who has this problem. I even plugged the phone into my computer to see if it was in there and it wasn't. Thanks!

Yes  the restore phone worked to lose the pic but then it just happened again a couple weeks later. I actually found a work around for getting rid of the preview picture. I plugged my phone in and deleted any recent pics from the camera and cleared the photo stream then I restored a photo I had from the trash on the phone and then delete the trash photo again, some reason the preview of the lost pic goes away. That just happened on a fluke but I Still haven't figured out why the camera takes a picture and it doesn't always exist except in a preview though. At least i figured out how to get rid of it without restoring.

Using Windows 7 and LR 5,  when I look at the Keyword List a certain keyword has 7 pictures but when I check the Library Filter with that keyword 350 pictures are shown which includes the 7 pictures that have the keyword.  Why does the Library Filter showing pictures that do not match the query

    Dan,
Here's what's going on in the catalog you sent me, "Joel & Caitlin's Wedding".  There is the keyword "gwenn", which is explicitly assigned to 7 pics. But keyword "schwartz" has a number of synonyms, including "gwenn", and it is assigned to 25 pics.  There is no overlap between the two sets of pics.
I discovered these two occurrences by doing Metadata > Export Keywords, opening the exported file in an editor, and then searching for "gwenn".  I found two occurrences of "gwenn":
    gwenn
    schwartz
        {gwenn}
From this, you can see that the keyword "schwartz" has 9 synonyms, of which "gwenn" is one.
The filter criterion "Keywords Contain gwenn" will match the 7 pics that are explicitly assigned the keyword "gwenn", and it will also match the 25 pics assigned the keyword "schwartz", because that keyword has a synonym "gwenn".
This illustrates the behavior I mentioned above: The criterion "Keywords contains x" will match against any of a pic's assigned keywords, any of those keywords' ancestor keywords, and any of the synonyms of the assigned keywords and their ancestors.
So LR is operating correctly here, if not in a way that's easy to understand.
It appears that you are using the synonyms of "schwartz" to represent individual members of the Schwartz family.  A better way of representing family relationships is to have a parent keyword "Schwartz", with subkeywords for each family member, e.g. "Gwenn Schwartz", "Joe Schwartz", "Jane Schwartz", etc.  Repeating the family name in the subkeywords has a couple of advantages. LR usually only displays the "leaf" name of a keyword, so instead of showing you just "Joe", it will show you "Joe Schwartz", helpful when there are a number of different people whose first name is "Joe".  Also, if you ever export your pics to other software, it may not understand the LR hierarchy and won't show the parent keywords, so again it's more informative to see a keyword named "Joe Schwartz" rather than "Joe".
