Why does the Welcome to firefox tab open with my google tab every time I open the browser? And why can't the browser hold any add-ons I downloaded? I loose then when I close the browser, even tool bars have to be reinstalled every time I open the browser

Every time I open the browser the Welcome to Firefox tab is the first tab, then a second tab opens and thats my google, then a 3rd tab opens for me to reinstall my toolbar. This has been happening for a good year. Updates have not fixed it. Others have this problem. I did a search for an answer, the question is out there but no answer. Now if I go into add ons and add a background Theme or an extension it all is gone when I exit the browser. When I open the browser again I get all 3 tabs and have to install my toolbar again. I DO NOT want to reinstall as I will loose all my saved data, passwords, bookmarks, everything! I have had this computer for a year, Windows Vista x64 bit. Its not the computer, it's the browser. If you have specific questions e-mail me and I will be more then happy to help

  • When I create a file from scratch in Editor, then when I close, a Tag from my list of tag words in Organizer is applied to the file.

    Always the same tag. This was happening late in Version 12 and I thought it would not reappear in Version 13, but it has from the time of upgrade.
    I have tried clearing Preferences and do not see anything in 'File Info' that would be supplying the tag. I cannot dtermine if it is being applied in the Organizer or before, because it shows as soon as it appears in the Organizer.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Even though you create your PDFs with Acrobat 9.5 your students most likely use Reader X or Reader XI to open them. The message that they see is a security feature to prevent malicious PDFs from being downloaded and doing some harm. In Acrobat/Reader XI once you choose "Allow" by default it remembers it and does not ask the same question for all PDFs that come from the same domain. So, if you post your PDFs on the same site each student will see this message only once. There are ways to automatically deploy Reader pre-configured to trust certain sites but this is not that can be done on individual machines. This ability is used mostly by big companies that own the hardware and installed software.

  • I'm using the new 4.0.1 and see no way to uninstall add ons. Did something fail to insall on my update? No tools showing anywhere enen to check for updates as in the old 3.5 version. Thanks

    No way to uninstall only to restart with add ons disabled. Did something not update from 3.5 ?

    Did you see a Firefox icon in the top left corner? If so, click on it and the Menu Bar will appear. If you want to have the Menu Bar shown instead of the icon, you can CHECK the Menu Bar and it'll stay on.
    To find the Add-ons list: Tools > Add-ons and the lists of your add-ons and plug-ins are there.

  • Why does Firefox open with both my Homepage and the 'Welcome to Firefox' tab, and how can I suppress the 'Welcome to Firefox' page?

    When Firefox loads, both my Homepage and the 'Welcome to Firefox' pages open. How do I suppress the 'Welcome to Firefox' page/tab?

    Hi Sean,
    Try this:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    It's a bit more "technical" than most people want, but it should work.

    Open iPhoto, select a couple of photos and use the Share ➙ iWeb ➙ Photo page menu option.  That has jump started iWeb for others.  I could take a couple of tries.
    If that doesn't work try the following:
    1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iiWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • When I update some of my addons, everytime I open firefox information about update is in new tabs, even "welcome to firefox" is always there in new tab! It's very annoying!

    Question
    When I update some of my addons, everytime I open firefox information about update is in new tabs, even "welcome to firefox" is always there in new tab! It's very annoying!

    Ok I found a solution that worked for me, I simply dragged the user.js and the user.js.BAK to the desktop, before that I had done the same with the prefs.js and prefs.js.BAK, but that didn't help, so it's apparently the user file that was an error with.
    It was the link from cor-el that helped me on the way http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
    It's at the bottom titled User.js file locks certain preferences.
    This article can also help https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Preferences%20are%20not%20saved
    It have still not made a new user.js file, but everything runs fine, hope this can help others to.

  • How do I get the 'Welcome to Firefox' page that shows up after an update to quit showing up? It's been coming up when ever I start up Firefox for days.

    The ‘Welcome to Firefox’ page that shows up after an update is installed has been coming up when ever I start up Firefox since I did the last update to 18.0.1, several days ago. How do I get it to stop?

    The problem turned out to be an error on the prefs.js file where one or two of the parameters with the current version number were not properly updated, so the browser always thought I was opening it for the first time on a new version. I edited the version number in those parameters to agree with the version number in the Help/About dropdown and the problem went away. It has been a while now and I do not recall which were the faulty parameters, but here are the ones in my current prefs.js file that refer to the browser version (currently 21.0 for me):
    user_pref("browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone", "21.0");
    user_pref("extensions.enabledAddons", "%7Bd40f5e7b-d2cf-4856-b441-cc613eeffbe3%7D:1.68,%7B02450914-cdd9-410f-b1da-db004e18c671%7D:0.97.12c,%7BBBDA0591-3099-440a-AA10-41764D9DB4DB%7D:11.3.0.9%20-%205,%7B2D3F3651-74B9-4795-BDEC-6DA2F431CB62%7D:2013.4.1.2,%7B972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd%7D:21.0");
    user_pref("extensions.lastAppVersion", "21.0");
    user_pref("extensions.lastPlatformVersion", "21.0");
    user_pref("gecko.mstone", "21.0");
    I have not encountered the same problem with recent version upgrades. Good luck!!
