Why does useful features are limited to few adapters?
For eg : File receiver CC has a option to stop Empty messages from being processed.
This is not available in SOAP receiver.
Is it possible to have a standard adapter module in SOAP receiver CC that will achieve this?

Thats for SAP to answer i guess
Well initially there was no option in the File adapter to handle empty messages but as requirement grew and more and more customers/consultants were in need to handle such a functionality, SAP brought it in through a SP release
Maybe if this particular requirement of your finds popularity, then SAP might come up with a inbuilt solution

in you case why do you need to send the SOAP receiver a empty message??
If you need to handle it then the best is to do some workaround in the mapping and have a field in your target structure indicate that it is a empty message (something like a flag) and then do the routing logic based on this flag.

Why does my ping increase after a few minutes of resetting AirPort?

I connect various phones and my Macbook Air to WIFI using my AirPort Express. I have been plagued with WIFI and ISP problems and recently upgraded my modem to try and fix this issue that persists to this day. I feel like I have narrowed down the problem to my AirPort Express.
After resetting my Airport everything appears to be running smoothly. My download/upload speeds are adequate, I have a very strong WIFI signal, all is well. When I go to play online games I notice an increase in my ping within 10 minutes of resetting my Airport. It happens fairly abruptly - it is not an incremental change. For example I am usually jumping from ~100ms to ~450ms. This happens on multiple servers and can't be tied to one host.
After resetting my AirPort my ping goes back down to normal but jumps up after a few moments. I have my Arris modem set to bridge, and I've tried connecting to the 5GHz channel through the router and there doesn't seem to be any difference.
This problem started a month or so ago. The AirPort has worked absolutely perfectly for a couple of years now. It is really only the ping in online games that seem to be effected – my download/upload speeds are running well which has me stumped.

Wireless is extraordinarily complicated. It is more a wonder that it works that doesn't.
Two follow up questions. First, I have taken both the phones in the household off wifi as well as my Roku and that didn't make any noticeable differences.
It is worth a try.. it is wireless after all.. voodoo in another medium.
your answer doesn't really help with two issues. My computer used to connect with no ping increase before this sudden change and why does this change start happening after a few moments of clarity and then skyrocketing pings?
How old is your Express? Anything more than 3 years can suffer due to build quality.. apple is no different to other brands now. A sudden change can indicate poor internals.
7.6.4 is lousy firmware.. test with 7.6.1 if that is possible. (newest ones may not downgrade)
I personally have heaps of Extreme and TC but avoid the express.. it is expensive for what it is.. a very low end wireless AP that can double up as a router at a pinch.
If you have an old Express that you upgraded the firmware.. you may not have noticed the upgrade coincided with the poor pings.. but it can happen.
Also Mavericks.. if you upgrade installed mavericks it can have dire effects on the wireless.. even the latest update to Mavericks has been causing wireless issues. Mavericks and networking is somewhat akin to tin cans and wet string. With the string fraying.
So reset to factory.
Downgrade the firmware.. then reset to factory a second time..
Test it with short names, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. NOT apple names.. since mavericks changed to SMB networking from AFP in previous versions.
Downgrade firmware by holding down the option key whilst you select version number. Pick from the list that will appear.
Test close to the Express..
Test with no wireless security.. remember it is a test.
Run the wireless diagnostics on the computer to see if it shows anything.

The reason for increase in ping times, can be link speeds dropping, WMM failing.. as it seems to .. or just plain old bad drivers.
I have made huge improvements in things like latency in routers that allow actual settings on the wireless to be changed.. packet size in particular.. one serious issue here is Apple have not given us access to any settings.. in airport particularly but even in the Mac.. this stuff is hidden from end users.

Why does using AIFF Encoder use more space than original CD?

I import with the AIFF Encoder option, as I want the best possible sound quality. A Full CD uses 700 MB, yet when I import a full CD into itunes, it says that is is using more than 800 MB. How is this possible?

Using the AIFF/Apple Lossless encoder is different to using CDA or MP3 format.
This is like a comparison between digital and analogue.
Digital is about space efficiency - so, look at a CD - It's small right?
This is because they have only taken sounds within a narrower band-width than the band-width used on a record (vinyl) and they have also encoded it (it's like shortening 'male' to 'm' under sex)
Vinyl has a huge band-width (just compare a full-sized record to a CD) and takes every little detail of a song, every rich sound and keeps it as a value on its' surface.
This is the same as the AIFF of Apple Lossless format - they take every little sound and put it inside the file - which makes it high quality but huge!
I have compared sizes and AIFF of the same file is 10 times the size of the AAC.
The digital formats use maths equations rather than on/off values for sounds.
I would not use this format (AIFF or Apple Lossless) unless you were transferring from vinyl to your iPod and you didn't want much else because it is full of on/off values.
CD's have reduced quality of sound and downloads are limited to the speed of the servers for quality BUT if you still want good quality and small size, encode in AAC - It is better than an MP3 because AAC is 4 layers of maths instead of 3 layers in an MP3.
Remember though, there is no point in making a high quality file from a lower quality source - you are just filling your iPod with no noise!

Why does a feature of CFLOCK seem like a bug?

I searched this forum for discussions about cflock
and read the livedocs at

This reading is on top of me thinking I already knew
everything about using the cflock tag.
Apparently, I am not understanding a very critical
aspect of the cflock tag when locking the session scope.
My issue is regarding one user, one session, multiple
and concurrent requests arriving at the CF8 server
from the same user session.
Meaning, a web page that uses ajax, frames, pop-ups,
or the user hitting ctrl-n, will generate multiple
requests to the CF8 server using the same session.
Based on my understanding, using type="exclusive" will
effectively single-thread the access to code between
the lock tag. So my question is:

What I'm seeing (with respect to the session scope

My attached code is the beginnings of an attempt to
gather some evidence. I was attempting to cause the
first request/browser to simulate a process that
takes 30 seconds. While the first request is performing
it's 30 second long process, I caused the second request/
browser to simulate a process that takes zero seconds
to perform.
My expectation was that the second request/browser will
not have an opportunity to begin processing since
the first request is holding an exclusive lock.
What I actually observed was that second request was
able to perform/continue without waiting or being blocked.
However, when I changed the scope from session to
application or server, I finally did observe the second
request waiting/being blocked. If I switch the scope back
to scope="session", the second request continues without
waiting/being blocked.
It is really hard for me to believe that there is a bug
here. I really do think that someone went out of their
way to allow this feature. I just wish I knew the rational
behind allowing this feature (and yet NOT documenting this
abnormal behavior in livedocs).

Why does Firefox send me back a few pages when I attempt to type into a text box???

I am sick and tired of this insane bug. It affects me on a daily basis. 20% of the time I attempt to type anything into any text box, for every keypress, Firefox will treat them as requests to 'go back' and it launches me several pages backwards through my browsing history in the tab. I then I have to skip forward and attempt filling it in again. It usually works after 1-2 attempts but like i said this is happening 20% of the time on text input forms, especially FARK.com.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Why does "Find Text" pause for a few seconds?

I've got a VI with about 250 subVIs, and when I search them for any text, the search zooms through them all except it pauses on a particular one. The names don't matter, so I'll just use letters; alphabetical order of VIs seems to matter....
So the search is zooming through all the VIs and it pauses for 3 seconds on
sss.vi
I think maybe if I open sss.vi, the search will speed up since sss.vi is more likely to be in memory. With sss.vi open, the search pauses 3 seconds on
rrr.vi
What? So maybe the VI after sss.vi is causing the problem, so I open
ttt.vi
but the search still pauses on rrr.vi. So I open rrr.vi. Now the search pauses on
qqq.vi.
I could continue opening VIs going upstream in the alphabet, but then I'd probably have all my VIs open. I'd rather find the root cause of the pause and fix it.
Any ideas?

What's inside the VIs: The most "unusual things" are a formula node or two, a few global variables, and the "System Exec.vi" to make command line calls.

Why does using a digital connection from headphones out on a Mac into a stereo disable the master volume control on the Mac?

When you use an analog connector, it does not disable the master volume on the Mac. It's only when you use a digital connector, and it's ALL digital connectors. It still allows you to use the iTunes volume control but, when you stream anything else on the web on your computer, you have to use the stereo's volume control because the master volume control on the Mac has been disabled. Does anyone know why?

I had the same problem, instead of logging in the router with the iMac (impossible) I did it with my iPad, I guess you can do the same with an iPhone.
-Disconnect the iPad from your wifi network and connect it to the TP-Link repeater.
-Open the web browser (I use chrome) be sure you don't have any other open tab, just the one to access tptlinkextender.net
-The configuring page opens, from there follow the steps of detecting your network and adding the password.
*If your MAC address is hidden it'll appear without name, in that case you have to configure it manually (write the name on the space for that)
Now go, be happy and do good.

Why does using a static jclass variable within a method crash the JVM?

I have some native code, that in a single thread, loops over a Java method. To improve performance, I tried this:

    jmethodID mid = env->GetStaticMethodID(clazz, "makeEvent", sig);But with the static declaration of clazz, the JVM crashes on the second iteration. Why? Is this really any different then using a C++ member field ?
My loop is really a bit more complicated then this, in that it starts several calls up. I hate the idea of
A) actually calling FindClass every iteration.
B) passing the clazz pointer through 3 layers of calls, just to avoid calling FindClass
Is there a better way?

Well I tried this, and it does not compile, becuase NewGlobalRef returns jobject not jclass.
Yes "jclass" is a pointer to a c++ object jclass, and jclass extends _object. However,
static jclass myGlobalRef dynamic_cast<jclass>( NewGlobalRef (myJClass));Does not compile either. The error is
error C2683: 'dynamic_cast' : '_jobject' is not a polymorphic type
static jclass myGlobalRef static_cast<jclass>( NewGlobalRef (myJClass));
DOES compile, but it is very dangerous. And using static_cast when dynamic_cast fails is a super-bad idea.
Just for laughs, I tried it anyway, and when I use -Xcheck:jni, the JVM dies with a fatal error.

Why does home sharing only list a few of my songs, lots of faults?

I've got a pretty large library where my music is hosted on a PC file server, but iTunes is running on a mac mini.
I've enabled Home sharing, but I get lots of problems.
The iPhone doesn't allways pick up the home sharing and when it loses it I have to power off the phone and then back on again for it to find the shoare again.
When I can see the share and pick a playlist, I only get a few dozen tracks out of a list of thousands
When I play the tracks, nothing happens, it just skips from track to track without doing anything.
All my music is in MP3 format on the server, and iTunes on the mac mini has no problems playing it at all, and if I transfer the music to my iPhone I have no problem at all, it just seems to all revolve around the home sharing not working.
Also, from another PC system I can't see the home share at all. If I select in iTunes on the mac to share the music on the local network then the library appears on the PC under sharing, just not using Home sharing.

Have you synced music to your iPad? If so, look in the MUsic app, not iTunes which is the storefront only.
If you do mean iTunes, then either your other songs were not purchased through iTunes or they were purchased with another Apple ID.

Why does it crash everyone after a few seconds of playback?

I try to playback a podcast but the app crashes and goes to the home screen. I hear a good 10-15 seconds then stops. Why is it doing this?

I'm having this problem as well. In my case I'm getting partial 0 byte files, sometimes with temporary hex file names with the .mp4 extension.
I copied the whole library (which was new and only contained one project) over to my laptop, where export then went just fine. I've also been having other QuickTime related issues. You can help pin this down with a few tests:
Open a short .mov video (best taken on iPhone, import with Image Capture) in QuickTime X. Attempt to export to 480p. Does QT crash?
Try to import the same .mov video in iPhoto 9.5.x. Does it import normally to iPhoto? Or do you get "unrecognized format" errors?
Do you see any crash logs for ProTranscoderTool_sb in Console?
If you search for iMovie in console, do you find any lines that mention problems with these files?:

Why does using Google in the search bar (and only Google) not let me open search results in the same tab?

When I use Google in the search bar, I have to open the search results in a new tab. If I simply click on them to open in the current tab, I'm inevitably redirected right back to the main Google site. This has only started happening in the past month or two -- I'm considering switching to Chrome after 5 years with Firefox because of this. Please help! It's incredibly frustrating to consistently have to remind myself to open all search results in a new tab. It's quite a waste of time over the course of a day.
Here are the basic steps:
1) I do a search using Google in the search bar.
2) As is supposed to happen, the search returns results in the current tab.
3) When I click on a result link, I'm immediately sent back to www.google.com.
4) If I hit back to try to return to the search results, I'm taken to the page that was loaded BEFORE I even did the search.
5) If, and only if, I instead right-click or Mouse3 click on the search results and open them in a new tab, I can successfully go to the search result pages.

Try to clear the Google cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Why does using the NI-DAQmx ANSI C functions in a thread cause a deadlock?

First up, apologies if this is the wrong board but it seemed the closest fit.
I'm using MSVC 2008 Express with the NI DAQmx ANSI C library to perform some analogue output using a USB-6009. I am creating a thread to handle the generation of the signal as it is on a fixed timebase. My main thread runs the user interface. I have found that I get intermittent deadlocks in release mode while the NI libraries are being loaded (in the second thread) and I use some MSVCRT functions (on the main thread). My test code is attached as "deadlock2.cpp".
I have used WinDbg to try to find the cause of the deadlock. The stack traces of my two threads are attached as t1_stack.txt and t2_stack.txt.
It appears that the localtime() function from the MSVCRT uses a lock when it is called for the first time and then goes to lock the Windows DLL loader lock. At the same time the NI libraries (or at least mxs libraries) are being loaded so the DLL loader lock is being held. The mxsutils library uses getcwd() which appears to try to lock something in the MSVCRT and so my two threads are now deadlocked.
I can probably work around this by calling the localtime() and the NI DAQmx functions before I spawn my second thread so that the DLLs are already loaded into the process. However, I have no guarantees of this continuing to work if anything changes in the future, and if there are any locks going on then having the DllMain() called for a thread attach may still cause a deadlock. If my findings are correct is it likely that NI would fix the DLLs to not try to do anything complex in their DllMain()?
According to NI Measurement and Automation Explorer I'm running v9.3.5f2 of the DAQmx libraries. I'm downloading the latest version now to try but it will take some time.

Thank you for the detailed and complete bug report. I was able to reproduce the problem with NI-DAQmx 9.6 using the code you posted. I reported it to the appropriate R&D team as CAR #366538.
I agree with your analysis of the problem. Both getcwd() and the first call to __tzset() acquire _ENV_LOCK, which Microsoft has documented as the "lock for environment variables". __tzset() also calls GetTimeZoneInformation(), which may load additional libraries, as you have shown.
Here are a couple more potential workarounds, but they're not great:
Link to the static version of the CRT (/MT instead of /MD). This would link a separate copy of the CRT lock table into your program, and DAQmx would continue to use MSVCR90.dll's lock table. They would no longer use the same _ENV_LOCK.
Build using a different version of Microsoft Visual C++ (e.g. 2005 or 2010). MSVCR80.dll, MSVCR90.dll, and MSVCR100.dll own separate copies of the CRT lock table.
Either way, it doesn't eliminate the fact that mxsutils calls into the CRT while holding the loader lock, and that CRT function acquires another lock.

Why does YouTube on Firefox offer so few quality options even if the video can be viewed in higher quality on Chrome or when it is embeded?

I've noticed that YouTube only offers three quality options for some videos when viewed on the video's page (240p, 360p, and 720p) even while the offered video elsewhere is significantly higher. One example of this is the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvY5irWC7kA (/u/aygoman of /r/Oman); when viewed in Chrome or when embedded in a page (such as through the RES addon), the video options are more verbose: 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p, 2160p.
While I do not typically view above 720p, sometimes I would like the option to view a video in either 1080p or 480p and cannot for some unknown reason.

Are you using the YouTube HTML5 media player or the Flash player?
