Why doesn't Firefox close tabs when I use the command-w shortcut keys?

Every so often, on random sites, I would have 2 or three tabs open. I would command-w (on a Mac) to close the front most tab, and it would close. Bringing the next tab to the front. But when I hit command-w again, I get the warning sound on my Mac, and the tab does not want to close. Even though Firefox is at the most front of applications, and the tab I'm trying to close is at the front of Firefox browser window. I have to click on the page (even though it's already at the front), for command-w to work and close the tab. I've reset Firefox to default twice already. I've even deleted it, and reinstalled it.

One situation in which Command+w or Ctrl+w might not work is if the "focus" is in a plugin such as the Flash player used on Youtube after you interact with the player controls. Firefox will continue to send the keyboard input to the plugin until you move the focus back to the page. Does that account for any of the problem?

Why doesn't firefox close out when I'm done with it and close it; when next I try to open firefox again I get a dialog box telling me firefox is open and to close it or restart my computer? I'm tired of doing that one of more times a day.

1. This happens at least once a day, and sometimes multiple times. Today it's happened twice, thus far. My home page is FoxNews.com and if I leave it up overnight or for longer periods during the day firefox doesn't allow the refresh of the home page it just goes to yahoo 404--error can't find the webpage. Then when I enter FoxNews.com it adds a /error to the url and doesn't allow me to go to MY homepage. So I close firefox and then if I try to reopen it and then I get the dialog box saying firefox is open and to close it or restart my computer. Very aggravating. 2. Also the Adobe flash drive update always fails. 3. Webpages get in loops and fail to load to the point I have to stop and refresh or close out and reopen.

Why doesn't Firefox close even when I close it. When I try to open it again I get a "Firefox is running, please close before reopening...or something like that", but I can't close it and it's not really open where I can see it.

Odd event when I use the Command+P shortcut.

I 've been using LR for a loooong time and never run into this. When I flag a photo (Command P) the frame advances to the next photo. I don't want this to happen. I'm sure I've hit something to cause this, but don't know how to reset it back to NOT moving to the next frame.

Turn off your caps lock. If the caps lock key is activated Lightroom also will auto advance. It is a feature that is there to help expedite rating images and other such tasks that you might want to get through quickly.

Sometimes I can walk away from the computer and only have one tab open (e.g. Facebook) and when I come back to the computer a few hours later, Firefox has crashed for no reason.

Unfortunately the linked crash report is empty (@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump) and doesn't include any data, so it is not possible to find the cause of the crash.

When I use the command "Place in photoshop" CC from Bridge CC, it skips the Camera Raw Dialog box

I am having an issue when I use the "Place in Photoshop" command from within Bridge CC, it is skipping the Camera Raw Dialog box and not behaving like a normal smart object. This has been my workflow for years and suddenly it's not working in CC. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

As far as i can tell, if you use Place>In Photoshop from Bridge with a camera raw file and don't have any other documents open, it skips the camera raw dialog, but does place (open as a smart object)
and then you can double click on the smart object icon on the thumbnail in the l;ayers panel to open camera raw.
If you already have a document open then Place>In Photoshop using a camera raw file opens the camera raw dialog before placing the photo.
Also check the photoshop>Preferences>General and verify you have Place or Drag Raster Images as Smart Objects checked.
The above behaviour seems to be the same in photoshop cc as past versions of photoshop, at least on the windows versions.

Why doesn't Firefox close all tabs when exiting?

I see several users have problems with Firefox not saving tabs when closing..... My trouble is just the opposite: Firefox re-opens all tabs when restarting, even when "quit" is selected in closing.

Make sure that Firefox is closing properly, otherwise it may be considered as a rash and that causes Firefox to reopen those tabs automatically.

Firefox 3.5 and later versions will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from the last session if a crash has occurred or Firefox wasn't closed properly the previous time.
Set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes] to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

Hi I upgraded to Ios version 7.0.3, I use the Hebrew language.
I have a problem when I select all the Hebrew alphabet, no matter where (it's sms, email, Internet, all applications on the device, and the device itself, search, contacts, calendar).
The device closes the application, and then I open the application and has no caption or a site that was supposed to be before closing as if I started now.
The problem occurs even when I write in the search for the problem device does re-lighting the device as if you just turned on the device (no open applications for example).
It only happens in Hebrew only, if there are English and Hebrew together this glitch does not appear.
I tried other languages English Chinese Russian Indian, they respond well to highlight the text individually without the Hebrew language.
It happened in the previous version 7.0.0.
In older versions it never happened and working already more than a year.
This problem also appears in iPhone 4 and iPad 2 on the same Apple id I have iPhone and same version id of the fault doesn't exist and thought at first it was a sugary but all applications are deleted almost everything and the problem still exists.

Is there a way to run Firefox updates on Macintosh computers using the command line?

In our school district we have thousands of Macintosh computers that have Firefox installed (on Mac OS X 10.4 through 10.6). When a new update is released to fix security vulnerabilities it would be very helpful if our Tech Support Specialists could send out a command to all the Macs using Apple Remote Desktop to update Firefox. Is there a command that can be sent to update Firefox? If so, could you please tell me what the command is? Thanks so much for any help that can be provided.

Why doesn't Firefox stop running when I shut it off? Every time I shut it off and return later, I get a message that Firefox is running, but not responding and that I have to restart my computer to access Firefox.

When I shut down Firefox I get all the shutdown messages, so I assume it has shut down as it should. But if I go back to my PC later (within an hour or so) and click on Firefox to bring it up, I get the "runningbutnotresponding" message and the promt to restart my PC.
