Why doesn't my Safari Browser work after upgrading to Mountain Lion?

When I try to open Safari it immediately gives an error message that reads it quit unexpectedly.

I would suggest deleting the Safari Preference Files and Caches.
To do this:
Go to Apple Menu Bar> Go> Library. (You must hold the option key to have the Library option be shown in the menu).
Then go to the Caches folder and look for a folder that says "com.apple.safari" or something similar. Drag that folder to the Trash.
After that, go to the Preferences folder in the Library and look for a file called "Safari.plist" or something similar. Again, drag that file to the Trash.
Close the Finder window and relauch Safari.
Hope this helps!

  • ITunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion

iTunes doesn't sync iCal with iPhone after upgraded to Mountain Lion. I even tried to use Replace Information On This iPhone and it doesn't work. Any idea guys?

I'm having the same problem. It's as if my iPhone and MacBook Pro now have two separate calendars.
Basically, I have a MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion, 13", late 2011) that I sync via USB with an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1). Before upgrading to Mountain Lion, all of my iCal events would sync flawlessly. But none of the events I've created in iCal (Calendars) since upgrading have synced to the iPhone. Likewise, no new events that I create on the iPhone Calendar will sync to iCal. Also, changes to an existing event (even one created before upgrading to Mountain Lion) don't get synced either.
Everything else seems to be syncing just fine though (music, apps, contacts, etc).

On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my iMac. reset Pram - no luck. took speakers from wife's desktop, they
do not work when jack plugged into my iMac - Sys Prefs "SOUND" only lists "internal speakers/ built in" as available options.
I used my altec lansing speakers on 3 macs including this one for 5-6 years.....now with Mountian Lion I can only get internal speakers???
Ideas? Any/All help would be greatly appreciated - been going nuts with this for 2 days now.

    Hi,
When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

  • HT4798 username/password not working after upgrade to mountain lion

hello, on my imac after upgrading to mountain lion my computer password and/or username seems not to work anymore: when i want to install an update or search for updates on the app store the combination i used so far, does not work anymore. i tried to find out how to reset the computer password but without too much success, and i'm a bit confused, what can i do? thanks a lot

You went wrong at the very beginning by not erasing the hard drive of a used computer before starting to use it yourself. I suggest you do that now.
Back up all data to at least two different storage devices.
Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup), launch Disk Utility, and erase the startup volume. This operation will destroy all data on the volume, so you had be better be sure of your backups. Install OS X. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
When you reboot, you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup process. That’s when you transfer the data from one of your backups. For a walkthrough, see here:
    Using Setup Assistant
Don't transfer the Guest account, if it was enabled on the old system.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.

  • TrackPad physical click not working after upgrade to Mountain Lion

Does anybody know how to get my trackpad working again after upgrading to Mountain Lion?
I recently upgraded my MacBook (13-inch, Late 2009, Intel Core 2 Duo) from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Everything seems to have gone well, except for trackpad behavior.
The primary problem is that the physical click of the trackpad is now erratic. Sometimes a physical click will work, and other times it will not work.
Note: The "tapping" of the trackpad DOES work consistently. I have confirmed that System Prefs > Trackpad > "Tap to Click" is enabled, and so tapping is not the problem. (The "tap to click" selector does exhibit a unique behavior however--if I DESELECT "tap to click," then the physical click no longer works at all. It looks like the "tap to click" selector can completely disable the physical click of the trackpad, but cannot enable the physical click completely.)
I have also checked the settings on System Prefs > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad, but none of those settings affect the physical click of the trackpad.
I tried zapping the PRAM, but that did not change the problem with physical clicking on the trackpad.
    Grateful for any ideas...

I ended up taking my MacBook to the Apple Genius Bar. The staff were very helpful.
The apple staff said that there is no known link between the upgrade to Mountain Lion and trackpad misbehavior. In my case, they made some hardware adjustments to the trackpad, and all is working properly again.
Bottom line: if you think that your trackpad misbehavior is related to Mountain Lion, you might want to take it to an Apple Genius Bar. If there really is no connection between Mountain Lion and trackpad behavior, then perhaps they can fix it for you (as happened to be true in my case). But if there IS a connection in some way, it would be helpful for Apple employees to see your evidence firsthand.
    Best wishes to all...

  • Pages doesn't work after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I'm not able to launch Pages 09 (neither Numbers nor Keynote) after having installed Mountain Lion. I've tried to reinstall it twice from the original install disc, but still doesn't work.
    Thanks for the help

If you migrated iWork from another computer, or dragged it over, or had a demo version or previous version on the System, there can be missing or wrong files in your System.
    Do the Complete reinstall:

  • HT4864 mail not working after upgrade to mountain lion

Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I have been unable to get my mail to work, while ICloud is working just fine.
What settings do I need to change in mail to get the programme to work again?
    Thanks for your help!

Delete your iCloud account from Mail's Accounts preference pane and then add it back.  See if that won't jump start the account.
The font size you use is a bit small  for these  old eyes.  Can you use the standard font and size to make it easier on us old types?

  • Does Logic Studio (disc version) work after upgrading to Mountain Lion?

I am currently running Logic on Lion. I purchased the disc version before it was sold on the app store. If you upgrade to mountain lion what happens? Since software update is done away with, then what happens to updates?
More importantly, if I do a clean install of mountain lion, then how will I download the updates for logic if I install it via disc? When going from Snow Leopard to Lion, the disc version of Logic needed some software updates to work on Lion, otherwise it would crash. Since software update is no longer available on Mountain Lion, how will one install the disc version of logic on mountain lion?

Yes, I would also like to know how one is supposed to update the plethora of retail baxed versions of Apple software once you have installed Mountain Lion; from which by the sound of it has many issues as the latest Mac OS makes it's apparent transition from a true personal computer OS to a part device OS hybrid.
There is of course the option to (painstakenly) download all past relevent updates for Apple retail boxed purchased software from the support webpages on the Apple website. However as well as having to download all necessary updates (not good for those with internet limitations) and in addition sometimes having to download more than one version of the same software if the most up-to-date version available is 'not' a full combo update package; but also most likely because those updates were pre- Mountain Lion release and may likely 'not' resolve any new arising problems and errors now and in the future.
Is this severenece on the highest scale? Unless of course Apple address this very soon.
I have a retail boxed Apple Shake 4.1 which I think was one of Apples most amazing high-end software, however Apple abanndoned it altogether and currently I don't have the confidence to install it in either Lion nor Mountain Lion incase of problems. In this case however the retail box versions of Logic Studio, FC Studio, Aperture, iWork, etc. are still in production but where's the support for keeping them up to date?
