Why doesnt Apple drop prices on some of their computers?

I need a Macbook for school, i know there is an education discount, but only about 50 dollars off doesnt help too much. Will apple ever come out with a less expensive laptop, or does anyone have any recomendations on a good place to find a decently priced macbook new or used?

This is not Apple. This is a user forum. Price structure as well as Apple's corporate decision making is not appropriate discussion in these forums. If you have a suggestion for Apple then post here:

  • Why doesnt apple report stolen iphone activations

why doesnt apple have some way of reporting a stolen iphone mine was stolen and i have the find my phone app and its been online once and nothing since that was in december it was stolen in november of last year.  I paid cash for had no insurance on disablility cannot afford another one.  I paid cash when I got my back pay now I have no iphone and nothing i can do.  apple should have some type of system to see that a phone is stolen or not.

In addition to all of the reasons already given, Apple is not in the business of tracking and listing stolen property.  Theft of iPhones, and other smart phones, has reached epidemic proportions in most large cities.  The only people who have a real reason to keep records of stolen phones would be the cell service providers.
The new iOS version 7 has an anti-theft protection feature - the Activation Lock.  Using that feature makes the iPhone useless to the thief.  But the user must turn that on for it to work.

  • If apple app store has an app to sync windows phone with itunes called windows connector, and windows phone and apple are competitors, why doesnt apple make an app for android that syncs itunes without a third party software

I want to simply sync my android and my mac itunes without downloading any software. Windows phone has an app to do that even though apple and windows phone are competitors. Why does android not make an app or why doesnt apple create an software or something

Apple didn't create the Windows Phone app (Microsoft). Apple has nothing to do with this, and Google should do an app for this

  • HT3209 Why does apple not allow me to download an hd movie to my pc? Why doesnt apple get it that I simply want to download a hd movie to my computer so that I can repeatedly watch the hd movie via apple tv to my pc as opposed to using isp bandwidth?

    See title.

This does not answer you question as to "why does apple", because for some reason Apple will treat us like children and try to do everything for you. An unrelated example would be trying to change the IP address of an Airport Extreme Base Station. You cannot. It will always grab the first IP in your subnet whether you like it or not. OK I digress. What I can say is that iTunes, in it's infinite wisdom, will look at your display and decide whether it will playback a HD movie (minimum 1280x800). If not, based upon display settings, it will refuse you the HD download. The "why" I cannot answer other than if you buy the HD movie on any other device like your iPhone 4 or iPad, you cannot share it from your library. So, maybe they get to sell more copies of the movie? That's my best guess. I've been an Apple guy since I first bought my Apple IIe. But honestly, I fume at them for being entirely non-responsive to their customers. Another example is the loss of the scroll arrows starting in OS Lion. Despite thousands and maybe millions of customer complaints, they refuse to listen. (Wow, I feel so much better...)

  • Why does Apple say that I`m using 5 computers whilst I only have two?

Hello! I`ve got a problem with iTunes. I usually use iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Today I installed it on my PC and entered my Apple ID. After that I got a message from Apple saying that I am using 5! computer - and I sure am not as I only have two ( My XP laptop has given up a long time ago - it doesn`t exist anymore. Got no iPhone, no iPad either). Can anyone tell me what`s going wrong here?

Some of your computers may have been (or still may be) using multiple authorisations.
Perhaps try doing a "Deauthorise all" and then reauthorise the computers you still have access to? (That should get you back down to 2 authorisations.) See the following document for instructions:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization

  • Why is Apple allowing Omniture to track on their sites?

I talked to Apine support about why they didn't recommend blocking Omniture on the Apple website. They said blocking it would effect functionality. So why is Aplle allowing this company to track us?
BTW I went ahead an blocked Amniture and haven't noticed any loss of function yet.

I think you may misunderstand what Omniture does. The Omniture code thats on the Apple site is for a tool called SiteCatalyst, which its owned by Adobe. (Adobe bought Omniture and is in the process of eliminating the Omniture brand name)
Adobe SiteCatalyst (Omniture) is a tool that Apple has decided to include on their site for the sole purpose of helping them better understand their visitors experience. Thats it. Apple will be the only who will have access to or do anything with that data. Its all totally anonymous information, and will never given to or sold to anyone by Adobe. All of the collected data is typically consumed in aggregate. Looking at what a single person did on the site is not really usefull information for the owner of the site. But when looking at what all the visitors did for a specific day/week/month, Apple will begin to see trends in visitor behavior. Analyzing these trends will help them make decisions on changes that should be made to the site for the purpose of improving the visitors experience.

  • When and Why Did Apple Drop The 160GB Classic Ipod

    Hi
I was going to go and finally buy a 160GB Ipod tomrrow.I see they don't even list it anymore on Apples site and Future-shop doesn't even list it on the site.
They only make a 120GB Now
When Did they Drop this and why???
Also Do any stores still have them in Stock???
I won't be spending the money on only a 120GB if thats all they make now
I've had my Ipod Mini 4GB since 2005 and thought it was time for a upgrade.
Please do tell me if Apple still makes the 160GB Ipod
    thanks

Apple has discontinued the 160GB. You can buy one online still, but not from Apple. Or buy a used one off Craig's List.
P.S. Actually Apple is still selling refurbished 160GB on it's site, if you want to go that route. I also found some new ones on Amazon. Buy.com may have some too.

  • Why doesnt apple allow adobe flash player and is there an alternate solution?

    Hoping for some answers?

Why : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices - something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).
For more info try the search box on the right-hand side of this page - you'll get hundreds of other threads on the subject

  • Why did Apple drop iDVD?

It appears that Apple has dropped iDVD reasoning that "most" people share movies via the web.  This is not correct.  Anyone with a robust home movie library, developed over the years (such as with children), can tell you there is no way any web service such as YouTube and others can house such a library of this size.  The web is fleeting.  Home movies (on DVD) are meant to be permanent. This is a terrible decision on the part of Apple.
Is anyone aware of any negative feedback Apple has received or any Apple considerations for brining the product back?
The ability to use "chapter markers" in iMovie for easy forwarding by chapter in iDVD was a really nice feature.  The loss of connectivity between iMovie and iDVD results in a loss of this important feature, even if you do determine a way to import a current iMovie file into an older version if iDVD.

It appears that Apple has dropped iDVD reasoning that "most" people share movies via the web.  This is not correct.
That is not why Apple is moving away from optical media.   Apple is the largest media company in the world. They sell nothing on disk.  It is to their financial advantage to have the physical possession of movies go away.  ( but I fail to see how it benefits the consumer. )
Apple wants users to buy the Apple TV stuff and online content. Apple and other media companies, want to get rid of the physical media so they can promote the online streaming business even more.  The game and movie industry is huge.  Without a physical media, you won't be able to buy used CDs, Movies, or games anymore.  The DVD and CD era is not over.
Another factor that is often overlooked is people's innate desire to hold something tangible in their hands; to build a library of films.   There's definitely a psychological component to the accumulation of material goods, and I always get more of a rush from receiving a Blu-ray in the post than I do from streaming or downloading a film.
I have Netflix, and it is great for TV shows but I love owning a library of films on my shelves.
I strongly recommend that you leave feedback for Apple on the link provided above (be nice).   Moreover, iDVD works perfectly with all of Apple's latest hardware and software.  iDVD is tested with the latest hardware and software.  Continue to use iDVD.

  • Why did apple drop NBC?

NBC has so many great shows. Now you can only get NBC shows from Amazon.com, who doesn't support the mac or the ipod. Itunes would be so much better with every TV show. *I want NBC content back!!!*

To add on To Deb, NBC was also reportedly interested in getting a percentage in iPod sales - another thing that Apple would not be happy with.
Anyway, NBC opened HULU after dropping Apple. Not compatible with the iPod and requires internet connection which made me say no.

  • Why did Apple drop support on Windows XP 64-bit, but not on 32-bit?

I have Windows XP 64-bit and do not feel the need to get a new computer or upgrade the operating system.  What I wonder is why Apple still makes iTunes for 32-bit XP and not 64-bit XP?

Not sure why you would expect anyone here to know the exact answer to your question considering none of us work for Apple, but it's probably because 1.  XP64 is horrible.  2.  It's user base is and always has been low.  3.  XP64 was no doubt geard toward corporations, while XP32 and iTunes are consumer oriented versions.

  • Why doesnt Apple like the idea of screen recording?!?

I mean,Cloud player was my only hope and its gone in 2days. P.S. i put this under imovie because it makes sense

No, it's not an option on the iPhone. And, as Apple has never said why they have not chosen to add that option, no one here can answer that question.

  • Why doesnt apple honor there product warrenty coverage

I have defect repair warrent coverage, I sent my device in for repair, and now they will not honor there warrenty to repair a factory defective microphone.they want to charge me $250.

You are going the have to discuss this with Apple Customer Service
The usual reason for this is that when it was opened damage was discover that voided the warranty

  • TS3694 why cant apple allow for incremental downloads of their software updates so slow connections get a fair chance to get the updates

how can i update when i have a slow connection?
to update my ipad would take 5 hours to download the file and the server times out before then.
when i restart, the process starts all over again- not where it left off so will fail again!

Only Apple knows why they do what they do. You could send them feedback and at least let them know of your issue.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Beyond that if you have a laptop perhaps you have a friend's better wifi you can use? Or maybe if you have an apple store nearby make an appointment and take it there to be updated.
