Why don't "browser.fixup.alternate.suffix" work, I end up in Google search instead?

I have entered ".se" as suffix and enabled fixup.alternate. But if enter "volvo" in the address field the browser doesn't proceed to www.volvo.se, instead I end up in www.google.se. Why, what is wrong? /Tomas

I found the answer to this problem my self by browsing other questions with the same problem.
I had to set "keyword.enabled" to "false" in order to get the the "browser.fixup.alternate" function to work!
There is a good description of this function in Common questions under "Location bar search".

Browse in Bridge command in photoshop cc 2014 does not work ( It can not open Bridge program why? )

Okay here's excactly what I did. I opened a picture (JPG) and made a new layer from the background (Layer 0).
Next, I selected an area in the picture using the magnetic lasso tool.
Then, I clicked effects (FX) in the Layers window and made sure the correct layer was selected. I proceeded to add an Outer Glow. I increased the opacity to 100% for good measure.
When I clicked Ok to close the the layer styles window, the Layers window in the bottom right said that I have "Effects > Outer Glow" under "Layer 0" but the picture remained totally unchanged.
Photoshop tells me that a layer style should be there but nothing is there. Also, I used to do this exact method and it used to work fine; now, for some reason it's giving me a hard time.

  • Why don't third party lightning cables work? Apples are too short

Why since updating my iPhone 5 to IOS7 do none of my lightning cables work. I dismissed the message that came up and had it on charge over night but nothing. This is ridiculous, how can Apple do this to their customers, if they actually made longer charging cables and at a reasonable price people wouldn't have to buy thrid party party. I don't think my Apple cable is even working either.

If the third-party cable is MFi (Made for iPhone) approved, it should work.
    Apple now sells longer cables.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD819ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-cable-2-m>
Belkin has an even longer one.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/HB560ZM/A/belkin-21-amp-lightning-to-usb-charg esync-cable>
It's being sold by Apple, so is probably MFI approved.  Its Lightning connector may not fit some caews, though.

  • Why don't my speaker and microphone work?

So a week or so ago, my iPhone's built-in speaker stopped working properly. I was playing music and it suddnely cut off. I listened very closely and I realized that it wasn't not working, it was just super low. I blew into the dock port and all of a sudden it got louder while I was doing that. I then took a hairdryer and blew cool air into it for a little and it started working again.
It worked for about 2 days, then stopped working completely. I tested to see if it worked with headphones in and yes it did. I made a video and realized my microphone was not working either. People cannot hear me if I talk to them on the phone, speakerphone on or not.
What I want to ask is what parts do you think have gone bad? Arn't the micrphone and speaker separate parts? What would have made both of them to not work? Could it be some kind of connection cable?
My warrenty is gone, so I can't bring it in to Apple without paying a bunch.
    -Thanks

    TheKerimB,
Make sure your you have the ringer/vibrate knob on the left side of your device by the volume buttons in the upright position instead of in the down position. That would be another option besides the aperture issue as Tonefox has mentioned. If that does not resolve the issue then you can also try and perform a restore throug ITunes and that may also resolve the issue.
If you perform a restore through ITunes, be sure and backup your device before you do a restore so you don't lose any oyour personal information like Contacts, pictures and so forth. You can also create a backup on ICloud through your device as well but you need to be on WIFI to create a backup through ICloud. Just go into Settings in your device and make sure you login with your Apple ID  and you should be ready to create a backup through ICloud. Be sure and turn the toggles on that you want to backup onto ICloud and turn off what you do not want to backup. Just make sure you are connected to WIFI because that is the only way to create a backup on ICloud.
Hope this helps and Good Luck to you and your device!!

Having all these add-ons doesn't make much sense if you keep getting a "not compatible with latest Firefox version. Yea sure I bought a s4 to run the older versions. Firefox seems to have alittle google mindset about themselves. Without the add-ons Firefox is just another search engine. Please make everything compatible.

Add-ons are upgraded by the creator. It's their responsibility to keep their app/add-on up to date and working with the current Firefox browser.

  • Why don't Grapher's Frame Limits work correctly with saved Grapher files using multiple equations on Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
I generally enjoy using Grapher in OS X (I am using Mountain Lion v10.8.2). However, I have repeatedly encountered what seems to be broken basic functionality in setting the limits on the display frame  (View> Frame Limits…). When opening saved Grapher files with multiple valid equations in them (equations which include constant terms defined as sets of numbers), I repeatedly get the following behavior:
    1. Frame limits are not correctly saved. As in, the file opens with a different view than it was saved and closed in.
    2. Frame limits no longer work as expected. For example, I might set the Y axis frame limits to be -2 to 2, but the Y axis of the frame display will run from about -1.95 to about -0.35.
3 Performance is degraded. Making a change to the frame limits (for ecxample, changing the Y frame limits to -2.2 and 5 in an attempt to display something approximating the range -2 to 2) take an inordinate amount of both processor time and clock time. The spinning ball appears and hangs out far longer than is welcome, and at times seems to hang requiring a force quit of Grapher.
These problems occur regardless of coordinate system.
Is there a solution? If I create a new file and start from scratch the problems reappear. The problems reappear across a wide range of 2D equation types.
Is Grapher simply broken in this regard?
    Thanks for the input.

    Bonjour Lexy-Lou,
You are right, the bug was born with Grapher as you may read on the website
    <http://y.barois.free.fr/grapher/> :
Grapher’s bugs and their remedies (OS X in French).
Bug nr. 1. (Grapher 1.1, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3). When modifying the main 2D window size, the graph length and height already formatted (menu Format) are changed : axis scale values stay the same, added objects remain same size on the same places (unit pixel) relative to the graph left upper corner ; but the graph view changes for the ratio H/L do so : very annoying !
The remedy : To restore the 2D graph after changing the window size : menu Format > Layout > Size > redo the initial choice (paper size or L and H values)… or avoid having to do so by selecting a window large enough to begin with.
Proposed correction : making the graph size independent of the main window’s one.
Bug nr. 2. (Grapher 1.1, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3). Saving is wrong in 2D (menu File > Save, Save as, Save a copy as). Are not seved : the last location on the screen of the main window, the graph size, the maximum and minimum values of the ordinate scale : very very annoying !
Note : The new windows of Grapher 1.1 (Grapher secondary window > New Graph > 2D or 3D Graph) always open in the same place on the screen( OS X 10.4.11 configured in French) depending on the language used by Grapher : if it’s English, well placed and covering most of the screen, if it is French, the windows are half length but same height and are located on the right side of the screen. This anomaly disappeared with Grapher 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 (English or French).
The remedy : to restore the 2D graph after opening a GCX files (.gcx) : menu Format > Layout > Size > redo the initial choice (Paper size or L and H values) to be done twice ; then menu View > Frame limits... > enter minimum and maximum vaues of the y scale. This requires to note four numerical values, L, H, y-min, y-max, for example at the top of the equation list (or at the bottom : see bug nr. 27).
Proposed correction : complete saving in 2D.
For the full list of Grapher's bugs please download "Instructions for Use - Grapher" (English) or "Mode d'emploi de Grapher" (French). Quick glance at the Contents (pages 2 & 3) you'll be surprised by the possibilities of Grapher.app despite the bugs.
      Enjoy,
    Au revoir,

  • Why don't all mini-usb chargers work with my Pre!?! Grumble, boo-hiss...

    smkranz
I am a volunteer, and not an HP employee.
Palm OS ∙ webOS ∙ Android

Anyone know if the Pre expects some nonstandard charging voltage/current? I can't see how it would, given that it charges just fine from the USB ports on multiple computers I've tried, and I expect they put out the standard.
Still, I've had mediocre results with various chargers:
    - Palm AC->USB charger that came with Pre, connected via cable: charges fast
    - Palm AC->USB charger that came with Pre, connected to Touchstone: charges, a bit slower
    - various computers: charges, but slowly
    - Apple AC->USB charger from iPhone 3G: barely works if at all (I plugged in a dead phone, and it showed the red battery-depleted indicator for 15 minutes, then the phone powered on at 3% and said it wasn't charging; another time I left it plugged into this charger overnight, resulting in 40% charge)
    - Monoprice 12V (car cigarette lighter) -> USB charger: won't charge a dead phone, will *barely* charge a phone that's powered on (if in airplane mode, the Pre gains about 10% an hour, if the radio is on, it loses battery charge)
So the only thing that works reliably and quickly is the Palm charger. Meanwhile I have a ton of old iPhone/iPod chargers, and these 12V car chargers, which I'd like to be able to use, but they barely work if at all.

  • Why don't my mouse button/trackpad work?

    Hello!
I've been enjoying my MacBook Pro since 2006, and while I had no intention of replacing it anytime soon, something just came up that's driving me crazy:
My mouse button abruptly stopped working three days ago. Mechanically it doesn't feel as though there's anything wrong with it; it clicks as normal. But the MacBook just refuses to acknowledge it's there. What's really weird is, when I plug a USB mouse in and use that, the trackpad acts like it normally would: moving around the pointer, scrolling when I use two fingers, etc. The only indication anything is wrong with it: it highlights everything I drag the pointer over.
However, if the USB mouse is unplugged, the trackpad does one-finger scrolling and highlights everything on the screen.
I'm hoping this isn't something mechanical, because I'm out-of-warranty and can't afford the high costs of repairs (I thought I had AppleCare still, but apparently not). Has anyone else encountered this issue, and is there any way I can fix it? I use my computer on the go a lot and can't stand carrying around a separate mouse.
    Thanks!

    Bard-kun,
    A couple of thoughts.
Firstly you might want to check that your battery hasn't started going "bad" and swollen, as this can cause a variety of trackpad and button issues.
Secondly, I'd try a PRAM reset (Shut down. Then hold down "command option P R" while starting up. Keep the keys depressed until the chimes have sounded at least twice).
Next, if the above doesn't fix it, I'd try an SMC reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964).
If none of this does the job, then you could try heading to the "preferences" folder in the "Library" folder in your "Home" folder and deleting "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" and restarting. Doing this may change other related customised settings however.
Have you installed any third party mouse or keyboard software? If so it would be worth trying removing or disabling it.
If none of the above resolve the issue then I'd be suspecting a hardware issue.
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Need Emergency Help! - Why don't my Illustrator CS6 Glyphs work?

They just do not work; I have tried using them every way I can think of and they will not work!
I have deadlines and feel completely frantic...cannot find an answer anywhere!

I'm using Illustrator CS6 v16.0.4 on Mac OSX 10.9.1. The font is Kohinoor Devanagiri, an opentype font. When I double click on the desired glyph from the glyphs panel, it doesn't insert the actual glyph but instead inserts the conjunct consonants that combine to create that glyph. Previously, I was able to insert this using Illustrator CS5, but after having upgraded to CS6, I'm having this issue.
See attached screenshot - the highlighted glyph in the glyphs panel is not the open appearing in the document, but its the individual characters that combine to create that, that appears. The opentype panel doesn't allow me to change anything as it appears grayed out when I select the text in the document.
    What could be the issue?

  • IPhoto 08 - Why don't my up&down arrows work in single photo view?

When i set my iPhoto (7.1.1) library view to largest setting (ie 1 photo at a time) and then try to scroll down or up with the arrows in the window, they freeze after one photo up or down.
No-one in the apple stores I visited seems to have heard of this before.
As I use this setting a lot to quickly move through my library to delete unwanted photos (the scroll wheel on mighty mouse is not accurate enough to go picture-by-picture reliably) I find this issue quite annoying. I have tried to re-install iPhoto from the iLife cd but it won't let me do a customized installation. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks, Steven

Terence, Thanks for quick reply. But by deleting that list I loose my photo library? Sorry, not a specialist and after deleting I got a shock from having my library lost - going to the preferences setting and restoring via TimeMachine fortunately worked. The problem is still both with the up/down arrows in the bottom of the scroll bar AND with those on the keyboard (when on the max setting of 1 photo only). But only on my main user identity and with my rather large iPhoto library (103 GB). Could it be (as at the time with iPhoto 6) that I have run up against the limits of its capacity? I have another user id on this mac, and another 4Macs in my household , none of which have the same issue in iPhoto.

  • Why don't non simplistic smart playlists work with my iTouch?

I like listening to my podcasts in the order they were released.
So I have a smart playlist that say:
    genre=podcast
    ignore these podcasts
include only podcasts played < 1
This smart playlist appears in the sync list but does not sync with my iTouch (2nd gen i think).
    Other smart playlists like
    rating >= *
    do sync.
I thought this worked with my 2nd generation classic.
    What gives?

Good questions, looks like the limiting number is just broken on iOS devices.  For the second, you'd have to try it out.  Do they update as songs are played?  And if they update do they download the new songs automatically or just put the "cloud" listing in the list?

  • Why don't original mac mini disks work anymore?

Recently the hard disk of my mac mini had to be replaced. On the new hard disk I'm now trying to reinstall iLife, but the computer won't accept the disk. I've checked and the same happens when I try to run the hardware test with the original disks. All other disks will load (Microsoft etc). The problem seems to be limited to Apple products. Anyone any idea what is happening?

I have Lion on the hard disk, and I had the same version of lion on the broken disk. iFactors (an apple service point) did the repair. This is the third hard disk in this computer. My Mac mini seems to get through one a year. iFactors replaced the last one too. My iMac (also lion) will read the hard disk without any problem. Apple telephone support have no suggestions at all.
