Why has my iPhone 'App Store' app frozen after IOS5 download?

With an iPhone 4, iPad, iMac and Macbook, I am concerned that my iPhone 4 download of IOS5 has 'locked' my App Store app on my iPhone 4. It shows 7 apps requiring update, but has lines and arrows next to them and the screen is locked. I have to use the home button to get out of it, but I can't update or buy any apps.
I have historically had an iTunes account with a 'non-Apple email address, but I later applied to MobileMe and got an Apple email address. When opting for iCloud, has my iPhone now automatically been aligned with the old MobileMe email address as my Apple ID? Is this the reason I can't get into the App Store, i.e. the App Store only has my original non-Apple email as my Apple ID? Hence it won't allow updates and purchases to my iPhone?
If this is so, how on earth do I take advantage of iCloud but still be able to purchase and update apps via iTunes?
More urgently, how do I get the App Store working again on my iPhone? Do I also avoid moving to IOS5 for my iPad in the meantime?

Please read this article about putting your device into recovery mode.

  • App store account corrupt after ios5 upgrade

After upgrade to ios5 my app store account seems corrupt.
1: My purchased apps disappeared BOTH from phone AND from app store. There are no apps listed under Purchased inn App store.
2: I cannot download any apps. My App store account expects me to fill in "a valid US address" to let me. Since I live in Europe, this is obviously difficult. Result is: no apps for me - no reloads, no updates, no new ones.
    Any known fixes?
    Thanks

    I had similar problems.
I noticed that there where a lot of other applications than App store that were struggling with internet connectivity as well. I was using Wifi at the time.
So I thought; maybe its not a problem with the apps, but with the Wifi.. Sure enough, as soon as i plugged my laptop into the router with a cable, everything worked a 100%.
When I switched back to wifi, it went back to the previous crappy state.
But it seems like I managed to fix this as well, while being connected to Wifi and no cable:
    -Go to System preferences
    -Network
-On the top of the window, there is a drop down menu for switching "location".
    -Select Automatic
And that did the trick for me.. My location was set to something else than "Automatic", some Netflix trickery I've done a long time before updating to Yosemite...
Hope this can help you as well:-)

Is this an Early 2011 MBP?
    Try manually downloading and installing this update;
Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update for early 2011 MacBook Pro
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1368
If it is older, then try this one, it is fairly large!
Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update Combo

I would drag the MAS app to the Trash and restart before applying either of the updates.

  • Is anybody else still not able to use the App Store? I can't download nor update any apps. I have an IPhone 5 device not currently updated to iOS 7 as my partner also has an iPhone 5 running iOS 7 and it seems to have some issues at the moment.

  • App Store app in my iPhone crashes very often. Why? There is a solution for this?

I have tried to find for a way to contact/ask apple directly about this issue with no avail, until I found this place. This is my first question here. I am a newby.
Sometimes when I open my App Store app in my iPhone and I  am either browsing for apps, or looking for an update it  crashes. I do not know why, but sometimes is very frustrating.
We all know how frustrating is when any app crashes, or slows down. Sometimes there are ways to ask the developer directly why, and/or send a report for them to try to fix it. What about when is an app for Apple the one that crashes constantly, or slowes down? To whom do we need to contact? How can I complain?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try resetting your phone:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • App Store app nearly unusable on iPad 3 and iPhone 4 with iOS 6

Thankfully I do not have any WiFi troubles with iOS 6 but I am facing another problem. iOS 6 offers that revamped App Store app which looks nice to me on my iPad 3 and iPhone 4, both using iOS 6. But it is nearly impossible to use that App Store app. I am quite often moving. apps onto and. off my devices and if possible I am doing it without using the USB connection to my mac, I like to use WiFi.
I have to admit that I am owning more than 3.000 different apps by now. It always took some time to het those apps listed in iTunes on my Mac, in iOS 5 it also was no high speed listing. but at least it worked. Now after changing to iOS 6 the simple listing takes much more time. When changing the lsting type from "actual" to "by name" it even takes more time (and why is it still not possible to set the prefered view type within some preferences option?). When the view type finally has changed scrolling, detail look onto selected applications and the overall handling of this lsting is awfully slow.
But the really annoying thing is that I can not scroll further than letter "D" or "E" - the App Store app constantly crashes (but remains active in the taskbar). You can imagine that this behaviour takes even more time on a iPhone 4.....!
Does anybody in here face the same troubles?

P.S. I solved the problem now and I'm only left with "installing..." status. Here's how got rid of that "waiting..." status:
    1) Open iTunes with your device connected to the laptop or pc.
    2) On the left sidebar, press "Apps".
    3) Then on the lower right, you'll see like in my case, "30 (this varies on the number of apps available for updates) Updates Available".
    4) Click on the desired app you want to update.
    5) Lastly, after updating, press the "sync" button.
It worked, though my apps are currently stuck on "installing..." status. I don't know if this'll work in your case, but there's no harm in trying the procedure, right?

  • App store is frozen

When I click on the App Store app in iPhone 4s the version is 5.1.1 thee AppStore is frozen the featured option and not responding for any clicks what will I do ???

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • HT4623 how do i update the app store app on my iphone?

Unfortunately for the last couple of days; when I've stepped into my App Store app and type in an app to download, the screen stays blank. Actually literally EVERY screen within the app store is unresponsive. I do have an iPhone 4S with an underlined company, I'm curious to know if maybe that could be a reason why my app store is not working. Someone please help me.

Are restrictions set on your iPhone?
Then disable the restrictions in the settings.
If no restrictions are set, the appStore may have accidentally be dragged to a folder: try to reset the Home Screen layout:
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout
This will restore the original layout. Don't do it, if you want to keep the folders, you have created.

  • The APP STORE app on the iPhone 4S not working correctly for UPDATES now.

It used to be, when I had APPS that needed to be updated, I would see a badge on the APP STORE icon with the number of apps that needed to be updated. Then I could tap on the icon for the APP STORE, and I would see the UPDATE button showing the badge as well. I would also see the actual apps needing updating on screen.
NOW, even though there are APPS that need updating, there is NO badge on the APP STORE icon, there is NO BADGE on the UPDATE button, and no apps will appear on screen. If I tap the UPDATE button, after a few seconds, the apps WILL appear on screen, the badge WILL appear on the UPDATE button, and, if I go to the home screen, the APP STORE icon has the badge with the number.
It is as if the apps that need updating do not automatically go to the APP STORE app anymore until I summon them by pressing the update button. This happened ever since I did an iPhone update from backup a few days ago.

try hard resetting the device, holding the power button and the home button at the same time, and reset all settings (wont delete anything) settings>general>reset>reset all settings

    Hi ckreske,
I would try forcing the app to quit as described in this article:
iOS: Force an app to close

  • App Store app is frozen.

App Store app is frozen. Open app and blank screen populates after trying to search, for example. Tried reseting iPhone by holding home and power buttons for some seconds. No dice. Please advise on getting App Store up and running correctly.

If the problems continue, restart iPad, first turn iPad off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPad will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPad on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPad not responding? To reset iPad, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.

  • Help! Why cant i access my app store app, ipod app, safari app or email? Crashes immediately upon opening these 4 apps :(

Started happening 2 days ago.I dropped my original iphone 4 about 3 weeks ago and the screen cracked, but i was still able to use the phone with no problems.
Then about 2 days ago, these apps wouldn't open anymore
I was having trouble with my facebook app freezing up too,so i deleted it and was going to go to the app store app and redownload it again, but now i can't even get in the app.
So today i went to the apple store and they gave me a new phone(refurbished,i'm sure) but it's still doing it on this new phone
What the heck is happening here?
Is this a software issue? It can't be a hardware issue,as it's happening on both phones.
I even deleted and reinstalled itunes to see if that might do something.
I don't want to have to drive back to the apple store for a meeting with the genius bar people.
The store is 45 minutes away.Any help asap will be greatly appreciated
                                                                                                                             Thanks,Dan

    Try this:
Quit all apps: Double tap the Home button, hold an app icon until it wiggles, tap for each open app, double tap the Home button again
    then
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears (no data will be lost)

  • The App Store App disappeared when I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3.  I Restored my iPhone 5 and it still did not appear.  How do I get it back?

The App Store App disappeared when I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5.  Restore didn't work, any suggestions?

Any restrictions set up in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them. Default apps that are restricted will disappear from the screen, lifting the restrictions again will bring them back.
