Why i can't download iWork in my macbook pro retina? Apple said that is free and i can't download it. help please!

Is your Mac new?
http://www.apple.com/creativity-apps/mac/up-to-date/
FWIW, iWork as such is no longer available; it is now separate applications: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
Do you have the older (via install DVD) iWork 09 version installed? Then the new versions should show up in Updates (mac app store).

I installed windows 7 on my macbook pro. all is working but lan adaptor and sound od laptop is not working. please help me or send the link where i can download the these drivers.I have lost my resource cd .

If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, the drivers are downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant. If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk.
Read the Bootcamp Install Guide for your version of OSx. http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Bootcamp questions should be asked in the Bootcamp forum where the Bootcamp gurus hang out https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • HT4007 How can I get Aperture onto my new Macbook Pro 15" Retina that DOESN'T have a superdrive from my 5 year old Macbook Pro?  I still have the CD and serial number for Aperture. HELP! PLEASE!!

Like the thread topic says. I need help getting Aperture onto my new macbook pro that does not have a drive. I have no need for a drive after this to be honest just need my programs back on it. Thanks.

    Two options:
Make a disk image or a clone of the installer CD on your Mac that has a super drive - you can create a disk image using Disk Utility or use Carbon Copy Cloner (if you have it) to clone the DVD to a thumbsdrive. Then run the installer on your MBY from this copy.
Or download the Trial Installer and install from there:
    Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial.  http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
    Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
Install the Aperture 3.4 update from the list of available updates.

  • Why is the keyboard brightness of my new macbook pro retina is behaving in an opposite manner in low light

I racently bought a 13'' macbook pro with retina display (late 2013) and everything works fine with the exeption of the keyboard brightness. when I chose the adjust function in low light it suppose to increase the brightness of the keyboard during dim light, however, it's doing quite the opposite and the brightness is dicreasing making it harder to see the letters, how can I fix this problem?

Hi BobRz, you are probably talking about the screen display which normaly dims during low light conditions, and that's true. but my concern is the keyboard brightness, it suppose to increase in low light conditions, but instead it dims to the point that i can no longer see the letters on the keyboard. I have viewed a youtube video about the normal adustment function, and mine is doing the opposite

  • Why won't Maverick install on my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina?

I can't sign onto the Apple Store, when I click install app it does nothing, what's going on?  Running OS 10.8.5, plenty of disk space remaining.
This isn't the first time this has happened.

I'm afraid that didn't solve my issue.
I've shut down and restarted my MacBook Pro many times attempting to resolve this.
To reiterate, I can't sign onto my account at the Mac Store on this machine, it simply does nothing when I click on "sign in", therefore I can't do anything at all at the store as far as buying an app.
When I click on the Maverick Free Upgrade button, it turns green.  Then I click on the green button, within less than a second, it turns from green "install" back to the "Free Upgrade" gray button.
I've used Macs since 1984, yes really, and never been as frustrated as this since the OS 7.0 debacle over a decade ago.

  • In my macbook pro retina 15 inch there is installed mavericks but ı want to create recovery disk and ı need to download mavericks from App Store but it doesn't download??

Hey guys ı really need your help. I bought macbook pro retina 15 inch 2 weeks ago and it came with installed mavericks of course but ı want to create a recovery disk and to do that ı need to download mavericks installer from app store but when i click to download mavericks from appstore purchased part ı get a message says " Your purchasing process couldnt complete. OS X Mavericks cant be installed to this computer." How can ı solve this problem!??

One way around tis is to borrow a Mac that can run Mavericks and then the download will work.  You can use these instructions:

Though they are for Mt. Lion, the same steps will work.
    Ciao.

  • Why does Lightroom 4 look fuzzy on my Mackbook Pro Retina?

Can someone tell me why images in Lightroom 4 look fuzzy & not sharp at all on my macbook pro retina? Photoshop images look great and so do pictures in preview on my computer. But Lightroom 4 images are so hard to tell if they are focused or sharp or not.

Which version of Lightroom 4 are you using? I'm at 4.2 now, but there should be a version 4.3 coming out soon that adds Retina display functionality.

  • Can the flash storage hard drives in the brand new 15inch Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops (10.22.13) be upgraded/replaced in the future?

Can the flash storage hard drives in the brand new Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops that were just released a few days ago (10.22.13) be upgraded/replaced in the future?  I will need more than the basic 256GB for sample libraries using music software, among other things, but currently larger flash drives from Apple are too expensive.  I ask because I'm in the process of buying one of the new 15inch Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops right now (or at least right after I get an answer to this question).
I saw in the Mac store when I started looking at the build options for ordering the Macbook Pro that under Memory it said the memory was built into the computer and therefore could not ever be replaced or upgraded in the future.  So I was wondering if something similiar might be the case with the flash storage drives even though the same wasn't written under the hard drive options?  If these flash drives can be replaced in the future then I would just purchase the starting 256GB drive and suffer through using connected external hard drives, as unwieldy as that would be, until there were potential replacement flash drives with larger storage capacties available on the market or through Apple for more reasonable prices.  But if the hard drives in these laptops can't be replaced/upgraded I would go for the 500GB drive option (even though paying an additional $300, before taxes, for just 244GBs more storage space is absolutely outrageous no matter how great flash drives are with their read/write speeds, no moving parts to break, and lighter weight/thinner builds allowing for an overall thinner laptop).  I would even go for the larger 1TB option, which is really what I need, except that costs an additional $700 which is more than enough to buy me a new 50inch, HD, flatscreen TV from a reputable brand if I were so inclined!  (And yes, I understand the youth of the technology, current limits to flash drive capacities, and the reason for the high prices.  I know I'm not getting bilked...)
So yeah, does anybody have an answer to this question?  Can the flash hard drives in the new Macbook Pro Retina Display laptops, just released, be upgraded/replaced in the future?  Any answers are greatly appreciated and will save me some much needed cash on my purchase of one of these laptops!  And I should also ask, if so, can they be replaced by the laptop owner with the normal toolset through the normal, easily done methods of hard drive replacement in laptops that has been common, or would I have to bring the laptop to a Apple technician?
    Thanks everybody!

The modules are proprietary. They are installed in a slot secured with a tiny screw.
macsales.com has been working on providing aftermarket modules for the older models that were on the SATA Bus.
These newer ones are likley directly on the PCIe Bus. That will take some time to develop.

  • Why is my new Macbook Pro Retina Display getting so hot?

I've had my Macbook Pro Retina Display for nearly a week and it works like a dream and I love it.
However it does get rather hot, around the F keys it's almost too hot to touch, all I use are internet applications and occasionally Spotify and iTunes so it's not like I'm constantly running hefty software.
I just wanted to check that this is normal as this is my first Macbook, I've been a PC user for 10 years.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Download iStat Pro and report back with the temp readings.

  • MacBook Pro retina 13" (late 2013, Haswell) why is the highest resolution rendered in 3360x2100, which the system obviously can't handle?!

    Hey Apple and Apple users,
I just recently switched from an MacBook Air (mid 2013) to the new Haswell MacBook Pro retina 13" (late 2013 model).
The main reason to do so was the better screen and the option to run higher scaled resolutions, as advertised.
I was willing to trade in the Air's low weight, smaller formfactor and the extra batterylife for the better screen.
    When it comes to resolutions:
1280x800 is just a joke nowadays, why is the MacBook Pro still based on it? 13" and 1440x900 work quite fine...see MacBook Air.
1440x900 is okay in everyday life situations, but sometimes you just need "more space" as the third scaling option calls it as well in the display-settings.
1680x1050 on 13" can sometimes be challenging, but it is really fine if you need to work and have a lot UI elements to deal with (Photoshop etc.)
So 1680x1050 scaled on the 2560x1600 screen would be my daily driver for work. So I expected a scaling factor of "1.5238..." (2560/1680) will be used most of the time.
Frankly spoken...I am really disappointed by the 13" retina MacBook Pro and the way OS X Mavericks is handling the scaling.
It obiously works well and responsive with the 1280x800 non-scaling resolution ("best for retina, scaling factor 2: 1280 --> 2560).
    Is still "okay-snappy" at 1440x900 (scaling factor 1.777...: 1440 --> 2560).
But it totally breaks down at 1680x1050 (scaling factor 1.523...: 1680 --> 2560).
I use "Mission Control" all the time and it is stuttering and slow...overall a sluggish and unbearable experience.
The same goes for Desktop-Switching by swiping the screens or resizing and moving windows and files around.
So I was wondering why...and then I noticed that when taking a screenshot of my entire screen (CMD + 3) the image size of the screenshot was 3360x2100 and not the expected 2560x1600.
This means Mavericks is not scaling the UI with the appropriate factor (see above). For retina MacBooks it ist simply rendering one pixel of the classic, non-retina Interface in now 4 pixels (2x2) and sending this straight to the screen, which then "scales" it down to the resolution it is able to display.
Why is this bothering me? – Because the machine has to do a lot more work to render the higher resolution that can't even be displayed, due to the screens limitations.
    2560x1600 = 4096000 pixels = 100%
    3360x2100 = 7056000 pixels = 172%
This means the MacBook has to render 72% more information than actually can be displayed on the built-in screen and are just lost.
Of course this makes the overall UI feel sluggish and idly! Especially with the not that performant Intel Iris IGP and no dedicated graphics card.
All this extra "rendering" just results in a worse battery life due to the extra work that the graphics card and CPU have to do.
First, Apple...are you serious about this?
What can we do about this?
Is there a way to have this properly scaled?
    Thanks in advance to everyone.

Okay...I thought deeply about this issue.
Even looking into ways to maybe fixing this on the software side. But it occured to me that this is to deeply embedded into the system that it won't be possbile to come up with a sufficient third-party solution.taht
The problem is that there is no intermediate step inbetween "standard DPI" graphics and "HiDPI" (image-resources named "[email protected]").
But there should be one, to minimize the amount of image information that needs to be processed by the device.
This effects especially the MacBook Pro retina 13", as it has the less powerful Intel Iris IGP, when performing on the highest scaled resolution (equivalent to 1650x1080).
As well as the MacBook Pro retina 15" without a dedicated, second Graphics Unit, when performing on the highest possible scaled resolution (equivalent to 1920x1200).
Those devices don't have enough resources to handle the consequential "HiDPI" resolutions of 3360x2100 for the 13" and 3840x2400 for the 15" model.
(Comment: 3840x2400 = 9,2MP, which is more than the standard 4K resolution of 3840x2160.
I analyzed the scaling factors as follows:
Factor "2" to display 1280x800 on the 13" model and 1440x900 on the 15" model in HiDPI.
Factor "1.777..." would be required to display 1440x900 on the 2560x1600 screen of the 13" model.
Factor "1.714..." would be required to display 1650x1080 on the 2880x1800 screen of the 15" model.
Factor "1.523..." would be required to display 1650x1080 on the 2560x1600 screen of the 13" model.
Factor "1.5" would be required to display 1920x1200 on the 2800x1800 screen of the 15" model.
As all the models seem to have no problem with rendering the intermediate scaling step (1440x900 for the 13" and 1680x1050 for the 15" model) at HiDPI, hence with the scaling factor 2. There is no real need to provide the UI-elements.
But in my opinion there is a strong need for a "MidDPI" ([email protected]) intermediate step for all the UI graphic elements that wis based on the scaling factor 1.5.
This would result in the following:
13" MacBook Pro retina with 2560x1600 screen:
    1280x 800 @ 2x = 2560x1600 (no surplus, native screen resolution)
1440x 900 @ 2x = 2880x1800 (the surplus of 1088000px = ~1MP can still be handled and compansated by the weak Iris IGP)
    1680x1050 @ 2x = 3360x2100 (the surplus of 2960000px = ~3MP is too much for the weak Iris IGP)
    NEW 1680x1050 @ 1.5x = 2520x1575 (with a small border of left=20px, bottom=13, right=20, top=12 pixels, which means ~2,2mm and ~1.3mm around the 1.5x scaled image!).
15" MacBook Pro retina with 2880x1800 screen:
    1440x900 @ 2x = 2880x1800 (no surplus, native screen resolution)
1680x1050 @ 2x = 3360x2100 (the surplus of 1872000px = ~2MP can still be handled by the Iris Pro IGP)
    1920x1200 @ 2x = 3840x2400 (the surplus of 4032000px = ~4MP can't be handled sufficiently by the Iris Pro IGP)
NEW 1920x1200 @ 1.5x = 2800x1800 (nu surplus, native screen resolution, no border needed!)
The big advantage is that all the graphics have already been remodeled for the HiDPI mode.
So scaling those "factor 2x" images down to "factor 1.5x" should be comparably easy!
    Example:
Left: Traditional "standard DPI" icon of "all my files".
Right: "@2x.png" for the "HiDPI" modes.
Middle: "@1.5x.png" suggestions for the "MidDPI" mode; easily scaled down from the lovely HiDPI graphics.
With this simple introduction of the "MidDPI" modes a significant amount of processing power can be saved.
This not only improves battery life when driving those higher scaled resolutions, but also lets the user access those resources for what really matters: processing power for the primary job that the Mac needs to get done.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why Apple store can't Upgrade the storage for Macbook Pro Retina after sale?

    Hello everyone
I am disappointed from apple store .
One month ago i bought the new MacBook Pro Retina with storage 256 GB and now i would like to upgrade the storage to 768 GB as mentioned in there website where you can configure the storage higher, but unfortunately i went to apple store to upgrade, but they refused and they said we only upgrade within the order in the beggining before you buy it !!!!!!!!
even if i go to normal shop they will do the upgrade but i will lose my waranty .
    Is there any advice ?
    Thanks
    Khalid

No one seems to be hearing what Big Q is saying.
He can pair his iPhone to his Macbook, but cannot CONNECT. He's NOT asking for alternative solutions, like Wi Fi.
I am able to both pair and connect my one one Macbook to my other one, but I can only pair but not connect my iPhone or iPad to either Macbook. So I have the same problem. But I can pair and connect my Macbooks to other Bluetooth devices, like my ancient Nokia cellfone, or my Bluetooth HP printer.
It's irrelavent that I can instead use a direct USB cable or Wi Fi between my Macbooks and my iPhone/iPad - why can't I use Bluetooth? If Apple does not allow Bluetooth between it's Macbooks and other Mac devices, then why have Bluetooth at all? Does my iPhone have Bluetooth only so that I can pair and connect to my my non Apple mobile handsfree car kit, or communicate easily with the dreaded Apple enemy Samsung, or what?
Make no mistake , I am a diehard Apple fan, but this Bluetooth non compatibility issue appears shortsighted and seemingly pointless. Why does Apple not just say why they created the non compatibility, or have a message on the Bluetooth setup programme which simply and clearly says "don't bother wasting hours of your time trying to pair and connect your iPhone to your Macbook, because we don't allow that anymore, reason being that............"?
As a first time user of this Forum I am surprised at the intolerant and highhanded tone of some of the replies  to what is a legitimate question, that is obviously plagueing many, many other Apple users.

You cannot call anyone.  You contact them as everyone else does:  http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
You delete the app as you do any other app.  Hold an icon until they wiggle.  Tap the "x".  This is covered in the manual.
