Why Image Size so Big???

Hello i am very new to adobe, i am having problems creating new images. It is just too big. When i go to file new i set the width and Height to the resoloution of my screen which is 1366=height and 768=width. But my image size is 2.36Gb thats enourmous. So Whenever i try making images my Laptop goes very slow and it crashes. The only way i can get around this is if i set the resoloution to 2.5 which will dramatically drop the image size to 2.5mb or something similiar but however i think this reduces the quality of the image. here is a screen shot:
Here is a screenshot of what system i am using:

You can set it so that it defaults to pixels in that dialog (and others).
Go into Edit - Preferences - Units & Rulers.  Change the Rulers: field to pixels.

  • Image size too big after drag and drop from iphoto

I capture around 30 images/day with a point and shoot digital camera (5 MB/image). These images are used as content for about 10 documents/day that I create in Pages. After importing them into the computer I convert to grayscale and resize (via batch processing) in photoshop, so that each image is about 2x2.67 inches, 300ppi, and drop into iphoto. This is the size/resolution that i want them to be when i import them into the pages documents I am creating. When i drag them into pages though they resize to 72 ppi, as if the default is that the document will be seen on the screen and not printed. I then have to resize them again from within pages, which is a pain. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
    Thank you.

  • Why jpeg file exported from Aperture with 300 dpi's it opens with 72 dpi's on PS ( image size)? I've tried several combinations and all give different results. And I am confused on what is the best workflow for me.

    Ok.
    My workflow is
RAW > Aperture Library > export jpeg high resolution 300 dpi's > one file on PS > edit > Save us jpeg. The I realised that files from PS were being save in a smaller size from the ones exported form Aperture. That is when I went o see <image size> on PS and files were with 72.
Since ten I've trying different things
    1. Aperture > export as PSD > open on PS > edit > Save us jpeg = small file (around 15 MB)
    2. Aperture > export as jpeg high resolution 300 dpi's > open on PS > CHANGE dpi's to 300 on <image size> edit > Save us jpeg = big file (Huge, actually)
What am I doing wrong? Would someone give me guidance and tell me what is the best workflow, considering I edit photos to deliver to my clients and I shall give them 300 dpi's.
    Thank you

  • Why am I getting messages such as "The command "Image Size" is not currently available" when trying to run an Action that has always worked in the past and when the particular Commands do work if used by themselves?

Why am I getting messages such as "The command Image Size is not currently available whenever I try to run an Action that uses the particular command (and which has always worked fine previously) and when the particular command works fine when used on its own?

I would think that image size would always be available when there is an active document in Photoshop.  The only time I remember seeing messages like that where they should work was during the five month period when Adobe released CS6 with so many bugs which took Adobe five months to fix.  During those five month messages like that that should not have happen were common when action switch between documents.  Adobe would start processing the next Action step before the document switch completed, Any step that required an active document could fail with a mess stating the command is not available.
Are you by some chance using CS6 version 13.0 CS6 without any updates.  Use Photoshop menu Help>About Photoshop.  If it shows CS6 version 13.0 you need to update CS6. .

  • When I export from Lr to CS3 my image size is 8x12 roughly, why?

I shoot RAW with a 5d mark2 I export from lr to cs3 in my workflow. I am wanting to create a gallery wrap at an image size of 24x36, when I go to create my negative space my exported image size from Lr is only 8x12, why would that be? I don't know what to do or how to make my image larger without loosing quality? I have never noticed this before? Why is it doing this now?

It will be the settings in your export menu.

  • Why is the file size very big when I add captive runtime?

I have a game that is 2.56 MB. When I package it up for a captive runtime apk it becomes 12.2 MB. This is very reasonable, but my problem is that when I add this apk on my phone through debugging, the size of the game jumps from 12.2 MB to 30.7 MB! I am using Air 3.9 and I don't understand why it is that big, can anyone help me please!

IPA and APK are .zip files in disguise. Your app is simply unzipping all or a portion of itself when it is installed, depending on OS. For example one of mine is 35MB (APK) and it goes to 50.2MB after install every time.
The captive runtime has little to do with it besides it's just one more compressed item. If you added any other random ~10MB of assets instead of captive runtime, depending on the content you'd end up with around the same size app anyhow.

  • When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

You want to view the image at the Print Size, which represents the size that shows in the Image>Resize Dialog.
    View>Print Size
Since screen resolution is almost always lower that the print resolution (somewhere between 72 and 96 usually), images will always look bigger on the screen, unless you view them at print size.
(apple Retina displays have a much higher resolution than normal screens, closer to the average print size resolution)

  • Why is Save to Web greatly increasing my image size?

Hi!  I am starting with a 6 inch by 6 inch 600 pixel TIFF image.  When I use Save to Web to create a JPEG, it decreases pixels to 72 which is what I want--but the image size of the new file shows as like 20 inches by 20 inches.  I know that the original is untouched.  Should I be ignoring the image size here?  Here is my concern.  I want the viewer to see the complete image.  Is Save to Web truly jumping up the image size here?  If I email myself the image---I do see the whole picture.  I am concerned that the new file says 20 inches by 20 inches.  Will a recipient be receiving a 20 inch by 20 inch file that might not be viewable on their screen.  Hope this makes sense--confusing to me!  I have read a few websites that say when using Save to Web just focus on the pixels--not on the image size.  Why is image size showing as much bigger than original?  Thanks!!!

SaveForWeb is just removing the resolution value (600), and the image loads at the default (72).
Web browsers don't care about resolution, just the number of pixels - which remains the same.

  • Scanning: The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type.

    Good Day.
I have recently discovered an issue with scanning.  I have tried scanning straight from the printer, through image capture, and through preview.  All yeilding the same results since they are essentailly kicking off the same scanning applet.  I can scan a jpeg formatted file as long as I applet is in the "Hide Details" mode.  If I click on the "Show Details" button, which I need to do to scan to PDF, I immediately receive an error stating: The image size is too big. Please reduce the image height, width, resolution, scaling or output type.
I'm currently using an HP C5180 printer.   The most recently installed software was Adobe Digital Editions (I installed this to read an on-line e-book).  Not sure if there is any correlation.    Thanks for any help.

    Hello Sig
The scanner works with a Windows computer, which proves the device is functional at a cursory level. The drivers are now distributed by Apple and this is an Apple computer. There is no scanning software provided by HP. HP's answer is that Mountain Lion takes care of all of this.  I anticipate that some setting or driver was somehow tweaked since the scanner had been working with Mountain Lion until a few days ago.  The device in question is an Apple product. So, I'm pretty confident that I'm in the right place.

  • Image size is being reduced - not sure why?

Help! I have edited a slew of images and need to print them to large prints (over 24x30). When I export the images, the size is 11 x 14. The original files are HUGE - I am not sure why the size is being compressed. I am sure it is a simple fix but I don't know what that is.
    I have a Mac OS X and Lightroom 3.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
    Angie

Did you crop the image? Did you set the output size in pixels in the export dialog box?
A 5184x3456 original cannot be printed at 24x30 because the aspect ratios do not match. The fact that the aspect ratios of 4264x2843 and 24x30 match indicates that you cropped the photo. But you cannot print 4264x2843 at 24x30 at 360 ppi (not dpi) because there aren't enough pixels in the photo. 24x30 at 360 ppi is an image that is 8640x10800 and you don't have that many pixels. You can still print it at 24x30, but at a much lower ppi.

  • Why does an image size 6x6 240 print out 6.25x6.25 when I drag it into a new file 24x7  240?  When I print it before I drag it into the new file it prints out 6x6.

Why does an image size 6x6 240 print out 6.25x6.25 when I drag it into a new file 24x7  240 image size?  If I print it before I drag it into the 24x7 240 file it prints 6x6.

What is the number 240 meant to indicate here – the resolution? If so please also give the unit.
And what are your printer and the print settings you use, could there be any scaling involved in the printing itself?

  • IOS -- Why recommended Flash is Much more than Image Size

Its Generally Observed that when we download an image the Image size is Much less than the Recommended Flash Card Size.
    eg
    First Image Information CURRENT
    Image Name s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-18.SXD4.bin
    DRAM / Min Flash 512 / 64
    Size ~~ 48 Mb
    Second Image Information
    Image Name s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH3a.bin
    DRAM / Min Flash 512 / 512
    Size~~ 78Mb
Why So ? Bcuz other files like config / vlan.dat dont demand Much space & For a Backup Image256 Mb would be Enough. Please Elaborate Your Answer

    Adesh,
Generally memory sizes are incremental ie 16,32,64,128 etc... So of course you have to have the available amount of memory to be able to store the IOS on it. Many routers now come with the SDM GUI that takes up 6-8Mb on flash memory, and I think Cisco does take things like that into consideration.
On your second image with the 512Mb recommended amount of flash I think is a typo. I see no reason why 512Mb is required for a 78Mb file. You could hold several IOS files with that amount of flash (which is nice) but not required.
I believe that the vlan.dat and the startup-config are still housed in NVRAM. Which is a completely different file system than flash.
