Why is 2.1.3 causing bizarre adjustment behavior?

I just downloaded and installed 2.1.3. Soon after I tried to adjust an image; but as soon as I moved the shadow slider the image went all wild — white with green lines. I tried another image, and when I moved the highlight slider the same thing happened, and same with contrast. (No problems on PS.) These images are on a Compact Flash card previously downloaded where other images behaved normally during adjustment, so it is not card corruption. (Camera is Nikon D300)
Is this a known issue on v 2.1.3? Or is there something idiosyncratic going on here? I would be grateful for any advice. I do minimal adjustments and prefer to stay in Aperture.
Thanks, Susan

This is my first use of this thing and I can't figure out how to ask a question, so I'm not replying I'm
asking. I am experiencing bizarre responses to various sliders in the adjustment inspector, shadows,
contrast and others. I have had no problems like this since I got the system last June, importing only
raw digital images. However for the last two weeks I have been scanning b&w negatives at 6400 dpi
as tiff files, which it turns out are at least 60MB and often 120MB in size. All of the Aperture problems started since this. I do not understand this but I'm wondering if the size of the files is something
Aperture is not comfortable with? I'm getting half black or sudden all black screens, occasionally
colored constructions, and complete shutdowns requiring relaunching three or four times every couple of hours. Any response would be helpful. I really like Aperture and hope to solve this. Thank you.greg

  • .DS_Store bug causing bizarre Finder behavior

    I've been having problems with icons disappearing in windows or becoming low-resolution. I can resolve it by using Onyx to delete the .DS_Store files within the affected directories, but it keeps happening. When this happened most recently I downloaded an update to Onyx and attempted to replace the old copy in Utilities by dragging over the new copy; the Finder asked me to authenticate, I did, and then I got this error:
    "operation cannot be completed because backup items cannot be modified"
    I don't have Time Machine enabled, how is this possible? I tried to delete it manually, and I got the same error again. I renamed the old copy of Onyx, proceeded with copying over the new version, and then ran the .DS_Store deletion on /Applications. After the deletion completed, I tried deleting the old copy of Onyx again, and was able to.

    Something's wrong if you have to keep deleting the .DS_Store. It also isn't resolving the issue.
    I'd tend to think about LaunchServices for the icon issues. Since you already are using OnyX try deleting LaunchSerives cahces and see what the result it.
    It have no idea about the backup message unless it saw the old version as a backup or a version.
    But then who knows with all default .DS_Store restores.
    If that doesn't clear it up my next step would be to boot into your Recovery Volume and reinstall Lion (the re-install is "in place" so it won't effect your users or settings.)

  • Why the basic finish date is not adjusted in planned orders

    Hi, all.
    Can anybody help me to understand:
    "Why the basic finish date is not adjusted in planned orders during
    forward scheduling, but in production order basic finish date is adjusted?
    It is look like non-coordination between groups of developers.
    And lead to situation, when planner don't see in MD04 when he can really wait material receipt. He must go to planed order and check production data there, it's unusable."
    Am I right, or SAP have it's own logic.

    Hi,
    Production orders are different story. Since production order is a constant element, they are not created in the course of MRP, basic dates can be adjusted. In production order basic finish date is adjusted, but you won't see for the upper level materials', basic dates of the planned orders adjusted according to the prodcution order you create. Production order is consistent within itself in terms of date and is not dependent to other elements of MRP, but planned orders are not like that.
    MRP creates planned orders whose basic finish dates are calculated by subtracting goods receipt time from production start date of the source of requirement. MRP works backwards without changing directions. Meanwhile if any production finish date is calculated different than the basic finish date due to forward scheduling, in order not to violate the alignment between the basic finish date and source of requirement's start date, basic finish date is not adjusted. If it was, dates of all the planned orders calculated so far at the upper levels of the BOMs had to be recalculated, otherwise all the consistency of all the dates is violated. This cannot be done because changes in any level affects all lower levels.

  • Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect/

    Why is Windows 8.1 causing my Verizon Mobile Broadband USB Pantech modem to auto connect? If I turn it off in Windows Settings I can not get service. As I am on a 5 GB plan I do not want my internet running at all times nor do I want o have to disconnect from the internet every time I turn my computer on.

        mebpapa,
    Hmm. That is a bit conflicting. After all, we don't want you to have to worry about usage running up or having to get disconnected each time you get on the computer. Ultimately, this is a software functionality of Windows 8.1 however. Have you noticed a high increase of usage when the auto connect is left on or are you just taking precautionary measures?

  • Bizarre tabs behavior

    After the 10.4.11 update Safari has had very bizarre tabs behavior.

    The active image isn't showing, or shows up completely screwed up. I've tried reverting to Safari 2, which fixed the problem, but when reapplying the update the problem comes back. I've tried every magic script I know to repair the system.
    I have no plug-ins whatsoever.
    Any ideas?

    Sorry, no ideas, but I have an odd situation, too. When working with multiple tabs, I click a link that opens a new window, but it doesn't open a new window. It opens in oldest tab with the header (and URL) of the old web page, but the body being the pop-up.
    Go figure that one out!

  • Why are multiple audio tracks causing one of the track levels to increase automatically when the other doesn't have an audio file in it?

    So I'm editing an interview and during subtitle sequences in the interview where there is no audio in the interview audio track, the levels automatically rise in the background music track.  Here's an illustration of my problem...
    http://i58.tinypic.com/2rh3atf.jpg
    I also troubleshooted by clicking the Solo button on the background music track and the music plays at the elevated level the whole way through when it's set to be the only track to play.  So for some reason, the interview audio track (when it's playing sound) is causing the background music track to decrease in level.  I get the same thing on exports.  Why is Premiere messing with my levels automatically?  No phone or chat support so I'm left asking the forums, thanks for the great customer service Adobe.

    Hi Richard,
    Appreciate you taking the time to help out.  There are absolutely no effects whatsoever on the audio or video tracks.

  • Why does my browser keeps causing my computer to get pinwhelled?

    I don't know why it is happening but I will be using my laptop and hae multiple tabs open then I would go to do something else and instead of my browser just running in the background it will show up as not responding. Then when I try to force quit it, I wait two minues and nothing happens. This puts me in the postion of having to hold down thep ower button to turn off my computer. This even sometimes when im using the browser and in the middle of doing something.
    I tried switching browser but to no avail, since the problem still presits.
    Am I alone here? Can I possibly have too many files on my PC? Do I need to somehow defrgment my drive? or does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you!

    Start in Safe mode again and then click the option to '''Disable All Add-ons''' followed by "'''Makes Changes and restart'''",
    Then it's simply a case of re-enabling them one-by-one until the problem recurs. Then you know it was the previous one which is causeing the problem.
    The add-ons manager is accessible by clicking '''Tools '''| '''Add-ons '''| '''Extensions'''. Laborious I know but it's the only way of doing it.

  • Why Firefox for Android is causing The Linux kernel to send data packets to random sites?

    I've recently installed CyanogenMod on my Nexus 5. Shorty after installing CyanogenMod I decided to install Firefox on my device from here:
    https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.mozilla.firefox
    Afrer installing it I decided to install a frontend application for IPtabels from here:
    https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=dev.ukanth.ufirewall
    After installing it I blocked some applications from accessing my data networks, including The
    Linux kernel. After some hours passed I took a look at the firewall log and I noticed that the firewall
    has blocked several data packets from accessing the internet. The log also showed the IP addresses where
    the data packets were being sent. I decided to find out to whom these IP adresses belonged. The results were
    rather strange. One particular IP belonged to a French ISP, one on the other hand belonged to a Finnish ISP.
    Finally I found one IP that made some sense. That IP belonged to Mozilla. However, at this point I couldn't be sure
    that Firefox was causing this behaviour. So I did a little test. I re-installed CyanogenMod on my Nexus 7.
    I connected my Nexus 7 to my WiFi-network at my home and I installed the same frontend application for IPtables
    on my device. I configured the firewall the same way I did for my phone, so The Linux kernel was also blocked
    from accessing any data networks. I surfed the web with my device and did some other things with it. I also checked the
    firewall log from time to time, and no applications showed up in the log. So I installed Firefox on my device. And immediately
    after installing it The Linux kernel was trying to send data packets to the same IP addresses. Now I was almost completely sure
    that Firefox was indeed causing this strange behaviour.
    Here are some addresses where The Linux Kernel was trying to send data packets:
    69.50.225.155
    63.245.217.219
    72.167.239.239
    23.43.139.27
    74.125.232.107
    193.229.109.41
    63.245.217.160
    94.23.204.140
    Conclusion:
    *I downloaded CyanogenMod from the projects official site and I checked the md5sums of the files
    I downloaded before I flashed anything onto my device
    *I installed all the applications on my devices (including Firefox) from here: https://f-droid.org
    *I didn't do anything stupid with my devices so I dont' think that they were infected with malware
    *I changed Firefox settings so that it didn't share any data with Mozilla
    So I'd like to have some answers to the following questions:
    1)Why Firefox is causing the Linux kernel to send data to these IP addresses and is there any way
    to turn this "feature" off?
    2)Do the other versions of Firefox and other Mozilla software (Thunderbird etc.) also include this form of snooping?

    * 69.50.225.155 - belongs to the EFF, you likely have https everywhere installed
    * 63.245.217.219 - aus4.vips.phx1.mozilla.com - Extension update check
    * 72.167.239.239 - a1plpkivs-v03.any.prod.ash1.secureserver.net - some GoDaddy hosted site - extension?

    * 74.125.232.107 - Google - search suggestions or malware/phishing protection database updates
    * 193.229.109.41 - not registered to any website - searching seems to suggest it is owned by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elisa_%28company%29 possibly your ISP or Mobile data provider
    * 63.245.217.160 - addons-versioncheck-single1.zlb.phx.mozilla.net - extension update check
    * 94.23.204.140 - something related to f-droid.com

  • Why does the letter "t" cause my apps to switch?

    When typing in any application (HTML code in Dreamweaver, an email, a web address in Chrome, etc), when I type the letter "t" my application often times switches suddenly to another open app. But not all the time. Hasn't switched once as I type this.
    This only started a few days ago and persists after a restart. What would cause this? And why doesn't it happen with every "t" that I type? I'm running Mavericks 10.9.1.

    This is a known bug and Microsoft are working on a fix. They plan to fix this before Firefox 4 reaches release candidate phase.
    A workaround is to change a preference in Firefox:
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''html5.enable''' and double-click on it to change its value to '''false'''
    If you do this, remember to set the preference back to true by double-clicking on it again when Firefox 4 release candidate is made available, the bug should be fixed by then.

  • Why would an audio track cause a video glitch?

    I have a 1080 60p clip with no audio.  If I create a sequence based on that clip, add a wav file to an audio track, then export using the H.264 60p custom preset with audio multiplexing to an .m2t everything looks fine.    However, if I export using the H.264 Blu-ray preset, 720p, 59.94, multiplexed, to an .m2t file the video has some stutters towards the end.   If I remove the audio track and do the same export, still muxed, the video is fine in 720p.   I get the same result if I start with a 720p sequence (i.e. addition of audio causes video glitch).
    Edit: tried a different audio file, this time .mp3, same problem.
    Edit: importing the muxed 60p export with audio, then exporting as noted in 720p has the same issue.
    Comments?   Let me know if what I'm describing isn't clear.

    Hi Jim - understood in an ideal world one would have source video footage, sequence, and output target all the same.  Is it not common though for folks to have situations where there is more than one target output?
    Anyway, I think I have a tree covering both roads if I understand your analogy.  What is wrong with the following picture?  I took the original 1080 60p clip, dragged it into a 720p 59.94 sequence, exported the video only.  The exported video looks just fine in this case.  I even tried different formats (Matrox MPEG I-Frame HD, H.264 Blu-ray muxed and not).  It is all good.
    Next I imported the aformentioned no issue video that is in 720 59.94 into a sequence that matches then exported to a matching format.   No issue with the resultant video.   Is this scenario not what you mentioned?   Start with video that matches the sequence and target output?
    However, if I add an audio track, the video has some flashing/stuttering at the end particularly towards the top.   Why would exporting with or without an audio track in the above scenario make a difference?
    In case it matters, the video came from a modified After Effects template.  I don't own AE and paid another guy to modify the template.  I will go back and ask him to render in 720p 59.94.  Still, the above just doesn't seem right.

  • Why setting var in CFFUNCTION causes error

    As far as my knowledge goes, the BEST practise when setting
    local variable inside a CFFUNCTION is to use the word "var" in
    front of the variable name, for example: <CFSET var
    myVariable="whatever">
    I'm doing it now and all I get is an error message saying:
    Error invoking CFC name_of_cfc:local variable myVariable on
    line 60 must be grouped at the top of the function body!
    I'm using CF8 and I need to use cfswitch within the
    cffunction, so when I do <cfcase value="SomeValue"><cfset
    var myVariable="TheValue"></cfcase> etc I got that error.
    When I tested with just CFSET var MyVariable="TheVariable"
    with no cfswitch/cfcase I still get that error
    when I took out the word "var" from cfset, I have no error, I
    put these variables directly after my cfarguments. Does anyone know
    why this is happening to me?
    I thought if I don't use the "var" word for my variable set
    within cffunction there will be possibilities when later on setting
    up another variables outside this function and if the name happen
    to be the same, will override each other and causing disaster to my
    application.
    Please help!!

    Yes, this is the best practice to make the variable local to
    the
    function. But you only need to use the var keyword once when
    you define
    the variable. And you must define the local variables with
    the var
    keyword at the very beginning of the function body. The only
    content
    allowed before this happens are the argument definitions,
    i.e. the
    <cfargument ...> tags.
    If you have a variable that you don't need to use, you just
    need to
    define it with a default and|or dummy value in the beginning
    of the
    function. Then you can set it's value appropriately later in
    the
    function when it is required. This is often done with query
    tag return
    variables.
    I.E.
    <cffunction name="myQryFunction"...>
    <cfargument name="someArgument"...>
    <cfset var localQry = "">
    <cfquery name="localQry"...>
    SQL
    </cfquery>
    <cfreturn localQery>
    </cffunction>
    Because of this necessity to define all local variables at
    the beginning
    of the function, a lot of developers use a standard where
    they define a
    local structure. They can then just append new keys and
    values to this
    local structure throughout the function. Personally I don't
    see much
    advantage to doing this, but to each his|her own.
    I.E.
    <cffunction name="myQryFunction"...>
    <cfargument name="someArgument"...>
    <cfset var local = structNew()>
    <cfset local.something = "FooBar">
    <cfreturn local.something>
    </cffunction>

  • Why this 6509 module reset caused system restart?

    Hi Gary,
    The message is a bit misleading. The "system restarted" message is coming from the CFC daughter card on the module
    "%SYS-CFC9-5-RESTART: System restarted -"
    So the entire switch did not restart, but just the module and daughter card. Now, I'm saying that based on the provided messages. You should check the system uptime in the "show ver" and/or the reset logs stored in the NVRAM log "show log" as well.
    But, as I said, if the only indication of "System restarted" was in the above syslog, then that's only referring to the CFC.

But later the same warning caused a serious dump though it usually doesnot happen. So is it required to correct warnings resulted in EPC check ? If yes , is there any convenient way to monitor the warnings that cause suich dumps as the number of warnings exceeds  far more in  amount as compared to  syntax errors?

    Hi,
    I don't think warning might cause serious errors like errors.. Please check why you got the dump for the warning message...
    You should avoid Errors...
