Why is 8.0 asking to install when I have a newer version
I use a Dell Vostro 1520 laptop with Windows 7 OS. I have the newest version of Adobe Reader installed and working properly. However, every time I start up, I am asked to install Adobe 8.0 but the installation fails because I have the newer version. How do I stop this start-up request and why does it happen?
I have now checked the start up folder and it is not there. According to the screen that asks if I want to allow Adobe Reader 8 to make changes to my computer, it's located at c:\users\%username%\AppData\Local Low\Netopsystems\temp\Reader 8.0\setup.exe. However, when I check for that in Total Commader, it's not there.

As I'm sure most people have noticed,the new build of iTunes is not running smoothly. I've tried to install the updated build but it wouldn't work. It installed iTunes and the New Quicktime. It failed to open. So I do what apple tells me to: Try re-installing it.
But after uninstalling both to try and reinstall, iTunes won't install quicktime anymore. And when I try to use the standalone Quicktime installer, it tells me that I cannot install because I have a newer version than 7.1.3 on my computer!And when I install iTunes (without it installing quicktime, on it's own mind you)and then open it, it says I must have Quicktime installed to use it. Even my Quickitme plugins for my internet don't work!
I know this is impossible. And I've tried to rectify it every way I know how. Delete the remaining files in Windows and Program Files, use the Windows Installer Clean Up tool, try re-installing in safe mode, BUT NOTHING WORKS! I'd really like to use the new iTunes but I can't do anything with it untill I fix the quicktime problem.
If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated. Thank you.

There is no quicktime folder there. And no quicktime program is installed when I try to install iTunes. The only reason I tried installing quicktime in standalone was because the itunes install was not actively going to the quicktime part of its installation.
I've tried removing everything and only installing iTunes. But even after deleting the physical files, using the WIndows Install cleanup tool, and cleaning up my registry, the quicktime portion of the iTunes install doesn't complete, and I keep getting "unknown" errors from the crash prevention program, and from what I can see it's because there's no physical Quicktime program installed.
As for other accounts, no I cannot start it up with other accounts, I keep getting the "Unknown" error and there is no physical files for quicktime anywhere.
And selective startup doesn't seem to work as there is NO qttask option when I run selective startup.
So, I seem to be out of options, and thing else I could try?

Why doesn't my iPhone notify me when I have a new text message?
My iPhone 4S doesn't notify me when I get a new text message or iMessage. The phone is not in silent and the volume of the phone is at 10. I keep my phone near me all the time, I can hear the phone ring if it rings. Usually when I text someone, I send the message and immediately lock the phone after. After about 15 minutes wondering if that person replied, I open my phone and find that I have a new message, the phone didn't ring or light up saying I have a new message. The people I text get mad because I never reply, but the truth is, my phone doesn't notify with a new message.
Sometimes I send a text, press the home button, and then lock my phone. Even when I do that, my phone doesn't notify me. What wrong with my phone? How do I fix this?I never drain my battery 100% unless I have no other choice. Such a deep battery discharge is not good for the battery and should not be done often.
No, the phone cannot "drain the battery 100%," The shutdown cutoff is way above battery depletion and is designed not to damage the battery when done occasionally (though doing so repetitively over a long period may shorten battery life span).
Draining the battery to cut off keeps the meter calibrated and Apple recommends doing so monthly. Also, a small memory effect has recently been documented for Li-ion batteries and this will help prevent it. -

To get this version of iWork you were forced to apply the updater 9.1 which apply to the entire package or you had to download the apps thru the MAS.
As the MAS doesn't identify the apps, I have some reasons to guess that you don't got them thru this channel.
But the updater 9.1 made changes in the set of FrameWorks so they must be here.

You need to sign in when using Photoshop Elements 12 as it is the method of activation. If you sign out it deactivates that installation.

It was just a hunch that MircoNetFrame was causing the problem. I disabled it as you suggested, and I still have the problem.
I just changed under Tools>Options> General - had checked "ask me every time" under downloads, so instead of asking me, FF saved the download to I know not where. It no longer saves it to the desktop, leaving a duplicate in "my documents".
In windows, I have found unless one knows the entire name of the document, one can never find anything. It isn't listed under recent ''''''__. I can't recall the nomenclature, but the
capability is ridiculous. So, I don't know where that file I just downloaded is!
I downloaded a PDF file, but this happens with all DL's. It was so easy to have them all stacked in one place and I could recall
what I had and when I downloaded it easily.
Do you have any other suggestions other that going back to the old version of FF, which I would rather not do?

I am running system 10.5.8 on my 17" mac pro laptop and using Firefox 3.6.17, I have tried on several occasions to install your new version 4 and when I drag icon onto my applications folder it tells me I have a newer version already there (which is now the 3.6.17). What is going on?

FormsCentral can be used from anywhere, but to purchase a subscription you need a credit card with the mailing address in one of the countries supported for purcahse:

The partner can purchase if they have access to a card in one of those countries. Alternatively they do not need to purchase a subscription to edit forms that you've created, they do in order to create multiple forms of their own, but by your sharing forms with them at the "Co-author" level they have access to the editing. Installing an older vst when there is a newer version ?
Im trying to re-install an older version of a VST callled slayer 2. I have removed the files of the newer version from VST folders and also the preference files. However when trying to install the old version Im told I have a newer version already installed. Ive looked at folders like receipts to see if theres anything there to trash but there is obviously an invisble file that Im missing out on. Can anyone help please?
Is this in an install package or an installer Application ?.
If the former, Pacifist may allow you to inspect the files to see what checks are made, or even 'force' the install regardless of those.
Otherwise : try FindAnyFile & search for anything that may have the name included. -

Why is my texting using data? When I have data turned off I can't send/receive. Texting is "unlimited" but it's using up all my data- help!
Texting longer text messages or any media (pictures/video/sound etc) being sent requires data to be active. However, it does not count against your data caps.
Since you have an iPhone, you must also be aware of the difference between iMessage and SMS Text messages. The iPhone, by default, will send an iMessage when sending another text message to anyone else with an iPhone, iTouch, or iPad. This does use your data if you are not connected to wifi. In Settings, you can turn iMessage off, and then all of your texts will go through Verizon.
Also understand- iMessage will use wifi when connected to wifi, but would need cellular data connection to work when not connected to wifi. Regular SMS text messages that are long or any media will always use the cellular data and not wifi, so will not send if cellular data is turned off, even if on wifi. However, this does not count against your cap.
