Have you tried updating via iTunes? I find that way's more reliable - I've never had any problems with updating that way.

You may have to shut your computer off and pull the power adapter from both your ISP's Modem and your Router and wait 5 minutes and restart them in the following order.
1st your ISP's Modem and wait a minute to get your signal and lights.
2nd do the same with your Router and again you have to wait the minute.
Last restart your computer and boot in OSX use Safari.

I have the one-year Creative Cloud Subscription and I downloaded several apps like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and SpeedGrade.
However, when I start up Photoshop and SpeedGrade I had to choose between purchasing the product or register for a 30 day trial.
Anybody who knows why?

Your password was sent to your emergency email address. Perhaps you have an email you never use? I use the free email from my cable TV account as my emergency email.
Your Apple account and cloud account are separate. You could even have completely different user and password. Most of us use the same user ID and password, but they are not the same thing, don't mix them up.
If you can't retrieve emergency email, you will have to call apple support.

Why does my G5 not ask for my pswd when mounting a .dmg when my iBook does?

i have an app on a disk that i am trying to put on my iMac G5. it opens but does not ask for my password. when i click the installer it goes through a couple stages but then says "there is nothing to open". so, i take this disk and put it in my iBook, it opens and i get the prompt asking for my password, i type it in, click the installer and the app installs no problem. i've opened apps from a disk before on my iMac with no problems. i get the same error response if i use the diskmounter or disk utility. if anyone has any ideas i'd be almost next to eternally grateful.

I've never had to provide my phone number before on any other platform which I've ordered other products on. Why do I need to provide such a personal information to Adobe?

I can think of two reasons:
1) A phone number is typically asked for when purchasing via a credit-card so the card can be validated.
2) So Adobe, at some point in the future, can call you to set up a remote session with your computer as part of a technical-support issue resolution..

It sounds like you are being asked for the answers to your security questions. If you aren't able to answer them, you can reset the questions and answers using these steps:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
However, if you're not able to remeber your Apple ID password, or receive email to a rescue email address, you can contact iTunes Store Support for help:

Why does adobe Reader XI ask to download Flashplayer when trying to open an Portfolio.pdf document?

Hello Everyone
I have a user that created a portfolio in Adobe X Pro. When they send this out to user and they try to open it with the Adobe Reader XI or Reader X it asks them to download the lates Flashplayer.
All our systems have the latest flashplayer install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just have to add my 2 cents. While I'm sure this change in program has some benefit for Adobe, to me it's horrible for the end user and makes Adobe look bad. In my organization's case, we have about 400 systems, of which only about 40 have the Flash Player Plugin installed. Which means 90% of our systems do not currently have what's needed to open these documents. Now we will need to start rolling out both version of Flash Player. Not a huge deal with Kace, but it's still a potential point of failure and extra headache.
While IE's usage stake has diminished greatly, they're still a big player. However, in IE you only get to the "plugin" version if you tell it you're looking for a different browser. The regular IE user says "I only use IE, so why would I want the plugin for a browser I didn't install?" If the plugin version is the "full" version, then maybe you should consider having one installer that includes both ActiveX and the plugin.

System ask me to enter keychain password while on working in various programs or on web. how do I stop or reduce? notebook is not going into sleep mode.

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the page that opens.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid. If the box labeled Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

Why do I keep getting an error message (42404) when I open my itunes?

I have tried numerous"fixes" for this and still get the same error message every time I open the itunes app.
I have re-downloaded and installed the latest version of itunes. I have re-installed Quicktime and then I tried to
install an older version of Quicktime that someone said would fix it, with no success. Itunes just keeps opening
with the same error message: A required itunes component is not installed. Please repair or re-install itunes. (-42404)
I'm afraid to connect my ipod Classic to it because I don't want it to mess up my music folders.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

Why does Time machine still ask for a disk when it is switched off?

My Time Capsule recently died, PSU problems , I think. So I went into system prefs and deselected the Time Capsule as the back-up disk in Time Machine and switched off Time Machine. Yet every few minutes I get a window appearing telling me Time Machine can't find a back-up disk. Why is this happening and how do I stop it? Thanks

Mountain Lion may expect to be using a local disk if external is not available..
