Why is iTunes not showing mt MP3 album artwork?

I noticed after the latest iTunes update that most of the artwork I manually added in the last year to songs has gone missing. About a year ago I began adding new songs using the MP3 encoder. Previous songs were all loaded as AAC files. The AAC files all are fine. The artwork image still shows on the MP3 file icon in windows explorer so I assume it is still embedded in the file.
Deleting and re-adding the file back into iTunes doesn't help.
The Comments info box for the problem files also now includes a weird string of code that wasn't there before.

Finally, I noticed the iTunes folder now has an Album Artwork folder in it and It contains two folders Local and Download in it. I don't remember these from prior versions of iTunes. I could be wrong?
My guess is iTunes changed the way it keeps track of artwork in files and re-organized itself from older versions, but had a problem with MP3 files. It then put a notation in comments and stopped showing the embedded artwork.
Does anyone know what's going on here.

Windows Media Player/Windows Explorer may be less fussy on embedded artwork formats than iTunes or the media file might actually be missing the art but the Windows Explorer cache (Thumbs.db) still shows it. You say removing-reimporting doesn't help but I assume you can still paste new artwork in and have it remembered. If so you might want to use the following tool to at least take some of the effort out of searching out which tracks you need to repair.

If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.

This is not a valid podcast feed for iTunes. It's missing the 'itunes declaration' in the second line. The top two lines of your feed should read as follows:

Without that, iTunes cannot read the 'itunes' tags which are necessary to carry some of the information, and which in any case are missing from your feed. The author name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and the image in the 'itunes:image' tag.

If you are hand-writing this feed it's a good idea to put returns in after each closing tag, as in the sample. At the moment most of your feed is on one line and this makes it very difficult to read when looking for problems, particularly as you add more episodes.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

- If you haven't tried disabling your anti virus software and turning off the Firewall, do that then restart your PC and the iPad.
- Try another cable to make sure it's that that
- Try connecting to another computer to verify that your computer is not the issue
- If none of these work then your iPad might need service. Take it to your nearest Apple Store

When using my ipod on my 3GS I have noticed that I sometimes have the incorrect artwork displayed. For example I have 3 Nickelback albums which on my computer shows the correct artwork but on my iphone either doesn't show the artwork or is showing Elton John albums!!! Why is iTunes not showing manually added music

Upgraded to the 4S from the 4, restored the 4S from the backup of my 4 including all the music etc.
The sync option is ticked so I get all my play counts etc but here is the annoying part! The "Manually added songs" part at the bottom of the music tab is blank, even though there are over 500 songs on my iPhone. I wan't to remove some of them but can't unless I manually manage the songs. When I remove them and then tick the sync button again, the songs come back again!

Why is iTunes not showing all iPhone Apps to update?

When checking for updates for my purchased apps in iTunes I sometimes have a few to download - no problem there.
My wife uses the same PC/iTunes but with her own Apple-ID. She can sign in and do the same. Every now and then there are available updates on both Apple-IDs which we can download and sync without any problem. All OK so far.
However, after downloading all available updates for both Apple-IDs and syncing to the iPhone, the App Store on the phone tells me there are more updates. As they are listed on the phone I can check the list against the Apps in iTunes (using get info) and sure enough there are updates available which iTunes does not tell me about. This means I have to update each one on the iPhone to get the updates instead of getting them all automatically using iTunes.
If I browse to an affected App in the iTunes App Store, the button beneath the icon shows as 'UPDATE' even though checking for updates does not identify it.
Using iTunes 10.6.0.40 on Windows Vista with iOS 5.1 on iPhone 4.

Why will iTunes not play certain MP3s?

I have a lot of music, and most of the music files are .mp3s.
iTunes lets me import the great majority of these files, some of these won't play in iTunes and so also can't be put onto my iPod.
I tried to convert the files using various software and even Adobe Audition can't open the files.
I can't see why this is happening and the only way these files can be sorted is when you hover over the files with cursor and no information about them appears such as the song title, album title, or bit rate etc... and they cannot be renamed.
VLC player can play them however.
If anybody can tell me what is going on and how I could go about getting them on iTunes that would be great.
Any help is appreciated.

Windows Media Player can't open the file either.
Have you got any suggestions for file conversion programs, I have tried Total Video Converter and Adobe Audition but they can't even open the file never mind convert it.
Knowing that VLC can play it gives me some hope that it can be converted somehow, but nothing I have tried has worked.
Any help would be great.

i just purchased a file that had videos in it. i put them in the itunes library on my pc where i first downloaded them. i was able to transfer them to my other pc, a laptop, through my home network. i am now trying to get them on my mac pro desktop and my ipad2. my mac pro can see the other computers on my home network but i cannot get it to connect to them. i know the operating systems are different but was hoping i could transfer pictures and files from pc to mac this way. haven't been able to get it to work yet. the videos i am trying to get my mac to see came in a folder with both mac and pc versions. i thought if i got the videos i purchased into itunes that i would then be able to get them to my mac pro and my ipad2. i am new to mac/apple and have always been pc-centric so trying to marry it all has been difficult. i speak pc pretty well but am just learning apple. am i trying to do things that are not possible? i sure could use a knowledgable friendly soul to walk me through my issues of having pc and mac on the same network. i have been able to get all computers and ipad to print on my network. thanks.

Ralph9430 offers a good suggestion. But you may need to do this before taking his advice:
Check in iPhoto's Preferences (which you can open from the iPhoto menu). Look in General, and make sure "Connecting Camera Opens" is set to "Image Capture").
If it is set to "iPhoto", you won't be able to get to Image Capture easily.

Why is it not showing in my list of artists?

I'm new to this stuff so I may sound stupid here. I'm looking for an artist in my list of artist on the IPod itself, and it's not showing. However, if I look under the songs list, the songs that I'm looking for are there. So, why is it not showing the artist in the artist list, but it shows the songs with the correct artist name in the songs list. It also shows the albums by this artist. Any ideas?

Is it a song on a compilation CD you burned? That might be the case.
If it's an artist album, you probably need to make sure that Artist and Album Artist have the same information.

Songs added to iTunes not showing up properly.

I recently added an entire album to my itunes library, but they do not show up anywhere but in the Songs list.
The artist does not display under Artist, nor under Recently Added Playlist either. Also, the album does not show up under Albums.
When I sync the songs to my iPod, they do not even show up in my songs playlist. The only place the songs show up is in my Albums menu, not in Songs, Recently Added Playlist, or Artists.
What the **** is going on here? I've deleted and re-added the files with no luck. All of the songs play back perfectly, they just don't show up where they're supposed to.

In iTunes, select all the tracks for an album that you are having problems with on the iPod and make sure, when you do a Get Info, they are NOT checked as "Part of a Compilation" (even if it is a greatest hits album, it is still the same artist, right?).
Next, select the first track, Get Info and check the two fields Artist and Album Artist. Hit next to go to the next one and the next. Are they all the same? Do some have Artist Album filled in buy not all of them?

ITunes 7 Errors/Glitches and Album Artwork Not Displaying on iPod

Looks like a lot of people are having problems with the new iTunes 7. After downloading iTunes7 and the new ipod updater, and having iTunes go and get the album artwork I was missing, some of the album artwork that displayed in iTunes would not display on my iPod (Gen 5). Very weird. I then tried to follow the suggestions on this board to deselect the "display album art on ipod" (in the Music tab of iPod preferences) so that I could then reselect and resynch (which supposed to fix the problem). It was very difficult to achieve this, as iTunes repeatedly had problems recognizing my ipod (even though it was sitting there in the source list). Managed to somehow get it to work, only to discover that while some missing album artwork had been added to ipod and properly displayed, others that had been there before were now gone (but were fine in iTunes)!!! And trying to repeat the deselect/reselect steps only resulted in more error messages ("The Settings were not saved for the iPod ___ because it could not be found." and "iPod update failed. disconnect and reconnect, then try again.")
I happen to have Apple Care for my iPod. Was on phone for ONE HOUR with rep who, while friendly, had no idea what was going on.
Okay Apple, I hope you're reading this, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS. I thought I escaped the problems of buggy software releases when I switched from Microsoft to Apple.

Okay, with help of previously mentioned Apple rep, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7 AND restored my iPod G5. After resynching my 5000+ songs, ALL the album artwork not displaying per previous posting is now displaying. HOWEVER (and Apple employees please take note here), when I tried to change the iPod settings AT ALL (e.g., deselect Synch Movies, TV Shows, Games, etc.) and then select APPLY, same problem!! So it appears this is where the problem lies. Somehow making any changes to these options and then hitting Apply causes the error ("...iPod could not be found" etc.) My workaround (since I am not intending to use iPod for movies or TV shows or games) is to change the Main Menu listings in Settings so I don't have to see them.

Why is iTunes not able to pick up certain photo folders from iPhoto? Camera and image sizes are similiar to the ones which can be picked up.

why is itunes not able to pick up certain photo folders from Iphoto. i'm tryin got sync certain iphoto album into my iphone 5 but itunes is only able to read certain photo albums. not sure why because photos were taken using the same camera 1 day apart.

i did but its still only picking up some of the photos. For eg, 1 folder had 147 pics but iTunes is only picking up 17. Can't seem to understand why. They were all taken on the same day using the same camera with the same settings.
