Why is my iPod Touch asking for a password I don't have?
My iPod Touch has been working fine for two years and I was using it last night. This morning, when I turned on my iPod Touch, it asked for a password. It didn't show the regular 10-digit number pad, it came up with a pad that showed the letters and numbers, the one you would find when you search for stuff on an iPod Touch.
My password setting is off and hasn't been tinkered with for over a year. No one but me had used the iPod Touch for the past few days. I have tried all the passwords I could think of and now I'm disabled from my iPod Touch, haha... ughh.
How can I get this fixed without taking a trip to the Apple store or restoring it?
Sometimes the iDevices just go haywire and ask for a password out of nowhere. Or, could have somebody got hold of your iPod and set it up and entered a password?

Help!I got tired of waiting for you and your response is still not the answer. I called ATT they transferred me to blackberry who transferring me back to blackberry techinical support at ATT, left me on hold for a very long time and disconnected me. Finally got in touch with ATT techinical support and they SOLVED the issue!!!!
What must have occured is that in the updating of the software over time for BB is that they require a password for the phone, since I never established a password for my phone the only way for me to fix the issue was for them to establish a password for me.
For other frustrated blackberry users when needing to change settings on exisiting email and you run into a required password, call your carrier and their technichal support can get you up and running with a password. -
Why doesn't Photoshop touch ask for access to local photos on my iPad so I can grant access and edit?
That's odd. Does this mean that you want to have the request or that you can't see the photos even though you enabled it over the privacy/photos?
If you enable it - it's not necessary to get the request. If you want the request the safest way to get it back is to reset the privacy settings by going to iPad settings/General/Reset/Reset Location & Privacy

My daughters iPod touch asks for her pass code but when she types it in the cursor does not move or input any characters so,she cannot get into the iPod. This has suddenly happened for no apparent reason, what can we do? Can anyone help please?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I'm getting this same problem. It seems random when it asks for the password, maybe every 3 or 4 days it'll ask when I plug it in at night. I've tried restoring from an older backup, which has not resolved the issue.

I tried to email a photo yesterday (on gmail). It asked for a password (never done that before), and I put in my computer password, and it rejected it. Came up with OK or Cancel. OK, box went away. Cancel, it said do you really want to delete this email. It would not come up with another box. I think I was supposed to put in my gmail password probably. I can still use regular email, but can't send a photo, the same thing keeps happening. I even turned off my computer thinking that might reset it. I cannot figure out where this password thing came up. I checked the preferences, nothing there except requiring password for other people to see my photos, which is not checked. I am stumped.
Actually, no it doesn't. You can email a photo with Gamil via any Mail client and/or web browser.

Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.
Alternatively, use Apple's Mail for the job. It has Templates too - and more of them. -

You do. Your system is either Windows or Mac (or maybe a couple of other less popular choices) and a version of one or the other.
When you set up your machine, you were asked for an administrator user name and password. You need both of these to install software. -

You can't reset it. If you don't konw the password then you can't use that backup

I would prefer to not have to reset it totally....Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

Being able to to access, install and change anything on your computer with a simple keystroke is just not a good thing security wise. Maybe you don't download from unknown sources, use a wifi network, use public or work networks, IM, let others use your computer or let OS and software get out of date. But people reading this may not be in your situation. Most password hacking tools will start with single keystrokes and no password will gain access in a fraction of a second.

When I click Install, my old gmail account comes up for verification and it asks for my password etc. I dont use this account anymore and have a new gmail account that is associated with my apple account. How can I get the new gmail to default when I am trying to install apps?
Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.
