Why is my Quick Preview taking ages to load

I am finding the Quick Preview in Aperture is taking a long time to load the picture. I have to come out of quick preview to allow the picture to load and be clear. Once it has loaded, I can go back in to QP and it works as expected. Until I try to open the next picture.
This has only started recently.Is it something to do with looking at masters instead of versions?

My first (and perhaps only) guess is that you have (perhaps inadvertently) set Aperture to not create Previews (or deleted them).
What happens if you select all the images in a Project and execute "Photos→Update Previews"? Does Aperture do anything? Are you then able to quickly move through them using Quick Preview?

Wine is taking ages to load

Wine is taking ages to load in my machine. When i run winecfg, for exemple, it takes about 10min to show me a window.
$ winecfg
wine: creating configuration directory '~/.wine'...
Failed to open the service control manager.
-> hangs here for about 10min
I already enabled (and disabled) the DRI module in xorg.conf, but it didint helped anything. Delete the .wine folder is not the solution either because im having this problem since i instaled wine (but i erased the folder, anyway).
$ wine --version
wine-0.9.30
So ... any tips?

I have the same problem as you. I installed wine through pacman and when I do 'winecfg' , I have to wait a really long time until it loads. I don't understand why this is so. In all of the other linux distributions that I tried, wine started up quite fast (gentoo, ubuntu, zenwalk, fedora core, etc) Could someone please tell us why it takes a long time for wine to open. Thank you.
My WINE version is wine-0.9.33
PS: I am not sure if this would be the cause, although I don't know why it would do anything but, I am running the 32 bit Arch Linux on a 64 bit machine, and this is because I need to use wine for a certain something that I have to do for my school, so I don't want to use Arch64. I know that it is possible to get wine to work in 64 bit Arch, but I have no clue how to update the package along with the rest of the system, and I can't seem to get a chroot environment to work.

Rebooted my iPhone and my apps are taking ages to load

Lost my I phone and got a new one today. I've restored it from iCloud and got it working. My apps are taking ages to load though. They say waiting, but have now been like that for 2 hours. Help please?!

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Home page taking ages to load

Hi all,
i have developed a site using SiteStudio. It takes ages to load for the first time. When i investigate i could find that reason behind is huge number of HTTP request(58 total). about 90% of these hits is generated from CSS files and js file. As of now i have stored them inside the content server and accessing them from there. The css and js refers to may images receiding in the content server.
IS there some way i can reduce the requests that are made.

What languages are you all using for your sites? We personally use JSP and get just amazing performance even under significant loads. I have seen a couple sites recently though that were dog slow, all of them though were running ASP.
I've had a lot of luck diagnosing performance issues by using the FireBug plugin for Fire Fox. There's a "NET" tab on the plugin and it will give you the load time for each item on the page.

If you would provide some details about your MacBook Pro — which model it is, which version of OS X is installed on it, how much RAM it has, how much free disk space it has, whether or not it acts the same way when it’s been booted into Safe mode — perhaps possible reasons could be offered.

Why is my iphone 4s taking AGES to download and update apps... 3 days!!

I bought a new iphone 4S 3 days ago. I previously had an iphone 4. Before buying the new 4S I had several apps that needed updating, but that were taking a while. For a few of the apps the following message appeared 'Unable to download application: "Instagram" could not be downloaded at this time. Done. Retry.'. I had presumed it was the iphone 4 as I had been having a few problems with it being a little slower, before I decided to go an upgrade. However, I am having the same problem with the 4S, though I have persevered so far... It has taken 3 days with no end in sight. I don't know if it could be my wifi- but I always get good signal... Should I just delete the apps and re-download them???

It sounds like it's stuck. If you changed Wifi networks since starting the restore, this is probably the issue. Once you are at a location where you are going to be for a while, go to Settings > General > Reset > erase All Content & Settings > Erase iPhone. On the set up screens that appear next, connect to Wi-Fi and choose Restore from iCloud Backup and start the restore again. Stay on that same Wi-Fi next work until all of you photos are loaded and in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup you should see "Backup Now" indicating the restore is complete. If you see "Stop Restoring" then continue to stay on the same Wi-Fi until it is complete.
If you have been on the same Wi-Fi since you started restoring the first time and never went out of range, etc. then find another Wi-Fi network if that keeps happening after you try to restore once more per the instructions above.

Why is my Muse Preview taking so long to load?

I have switched to using Muse to make my website since some mobile devices don't read flash. In the way that Flash sites sometimes took a long time to load, due to file sizes of pictures, Muse too does the same thing. In Flash you could fix this by loading content like bodies of text and photos and photo galleries dynamically. I used to do it by either loading a movie or a variable to the page from another swf file or text file in a nearby folder. Does Muse have a way of doing this or something similar as well in order to avoid my websites taking a long time to load?

Hi from what I believe you should optimise your images and videos before you start placing them into muse. There are tools around to help optimise your images and website. Why is my flash video taking long to load when I open the created URL?

I created a christmas e-card in flash and had it outsourced to create the URL so we can send it out to our clients. We tested it out on a few computers and everyone is saying that it is taking long for it to begin playing. What I discovered is when you initially click on the link a white box appears (the window for the video) and then it takes about a minute for it to actually begin playing. We are afraid people are going to become impatient and click out without watching our video. Could someone help me? I really appreciate it.

Why do my send messages take ages to load in Mavericks?

I use Mac Mail with Mavericks on a Macbook Air (about 2 years old).
It was fine in Snow Leopard, if I sent a message, it was there on my machine and if I wanted to look at it, it instantly appeared.
NOW, if I look at a sent message, I get a "loading..." spinning bar. Why is the message loading? It was SENT FROM MY COMPUTER so surely it's still there?????
I'm on a really slow internet connection right now (in Manila on business) and this is just SO frustrating. Can anyone help or is this just another new "feature" of Mavericks. Wishing I'd never upgraded.

EXS24 taking ages to load samples in Logic 9

I think in the old days, there was a Project Manager to help reduce sample loading times. Has this feature disappeared? My sampler is taking 10 minutes to load a sample. Once it has loaded once, and I quit and reopen, it loads instantly. Is there a way to set the folder paths and scan all in one go?

Here's how to sort out Spotlight:
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
Click Spotlight.
Click the Privacy tab.
Drag your hard drive(s) to the list.
Remove the item or volume you just added. (select and use the minus button under the list)
Spotlight will begin reindexing the volume(s) shortly(< 1min) after. The reindexing can take 5 to 20 minutes per volume, roughly, depending on the speed of of your Mac, disks and how full the disk(s) is(are).
Also, if you have a FAT32/windows/bootcamp partition, exclude that from Spotlight indexing permanently (=leave it on the Privacy list).

ITunes takes ages to load, then is really slow.

So I've been trying to use iTunes the past day and it's been taking ages to load and then is really slow when its opened. I used the most recent version of iTunes 11. Uninstalled, Reinstalled. Deleted preferenced, Reinstalled. Using iTunes 10 (which worked very well in the past). Finally I gave up and factory reset my PC. And STILL the symptoms are here. My question to the community is if anyone else is experiencing this.
PC Specs:
i5 650 3.2GHz
12GB RAM
1TB HDD
nVidia GeForce GTX460 SE
So it's nothing to do with my hardware's capability.

Small update...
WHen Itunes did eventually load... a few odd things happened.
1. The icons on my toolbar flicked to white / blank and then came back
2. Windows Update sprang into life and asked me to install 1 important update
3. I got an error message
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
5. I clicked Yes...
6. It said it was checking my itunes library
7. I got a message The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required to share music with others. Please re-enable the service to use this feature
8. This didn't seem to bad so clicked OK
9. BUt then Itunes disappeared again. It is still running in processes but isn't open.
Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
