Why is the new iOS 8 photo app slow handling photo raw files

I Have been importing my photos to ipad using the camera kit since the first iPad was released.
Originally I only imported JPEG, however as my photographic interest grew I switched to photo raw.
I have since being importing and edit pentax PEF photo raw files through the various versions of iOS, however since this new version the experience of editing and viewing my photos is slow, and unpleasant.
Choose a photo to view, and a blurry picture appears, and a second or 3 and the blurry images clears and I can view my photo, now swipe left to the next picture and the photos move as they should then stick half of the first picture is shown and half of the second, wait 2 / 3 seconds and the second picture is revealed, blurry, and wait another second or to and it clears. It carries on in this fashion, and it turns a pleasant experience, into a frustrating one.
on previous versions of iOS there would be a small pause as images loaded, but it was always smooth to move from picture to picture.
i Have tried switching to RAW+ hoping that only the attached JPEG would be imported. This did not appear to work with the whole image being imported.
please anyone how can I get back to the iOS photo app that worked better with raw photo files?

Briansyddal - you might be able to manage your phone without a PC, but many of us can't, especially those of us with large iTunes libraries. How do you propose I manage my 250GB of music using only a phone? Maybe I could go out and buy 10 iPhones and spread my library out among them!
Catz537 - I have the same problem as you and I've spent hours on the web trying to find a solution to it. It was a problem with iOS 7 and 8.1.1 doesn't fix it. The the only advice from Apple is completely useless because it requires you, effectively, to delete and recreate your iTunes library and lose all your metadata, album art, notes etc and there's also no guarantee it will work. I wish I could be more help (even more - I wish Apple could be more help) - I updated to 8.1.1 at 1400 today. At 2200 I'm still "waiting for changes to be applied" for a measly 16GB of music transfer.

Agree the new ios6 is much slower. I found this post by doing a search to find out if it was only me. I've done off & on & a soft reset. Neither helped. Everything seems to load much slower & hangs.
Maybe the new apps aren't optimized yet. However, I had one of my worst experiences with the Apple App Store. One would think they'd know how to optimize their own site & app.
I just hope it's not a bloat issue because the "upgrades" are not worth the performance trade offs to me.
Also, the iMaps are definitely not ready for prime time. I tried getting directions between two locations that were very mainstream and the app said it couldn't provide directions. I'll take Google without turn by turn, thank you. At least let us have a choice and let the best app win.

Why is the New iPad is super slow in photo album?

Hi, I am a previous owner of iPad 2 and am VERY HAPPY with it.
I was so excited to get the New iPad, but now very unhappy with it.
The advertisement of quad core graphics chip does not do any good.
The photo album took at least 3 times longer to display an image (in comparison to the iPad 2).
Viewing all photos in slideshow is out of the question because photo was not displayed in full resolution fast enough.

Thank Jim, but it doesn't help.
I did all sorts of power off, soft reset, hard reset, and even restore to original default. None that help.
Do you have iPad 2 to compare with?
Anyhow, these pictures were NOT taken by the iPad camera, they are from photo albums (taken by SLR) and synced to the library. These have much higher resolution and possibly have bigger file sizes (eventhough iTunes compressed it down during sync).
The New iPad could NOT load the picture in full resolution fast enough (I measured about 3.5 seconds) whereas the iPad 2 was able to complete the same picture in about +1 sec.
I am very disappointed. I will make an appointment with Apple and see what their answer is.

Start with your finger at the bottom of the screen (about even with the home button) and swipe in an upward motion. There should be a row of icons at the top of a grey field. if the quarter-moon icon is bright white, tap it. If it was (and still is) dark, take the iPhone in to be evaluated by a qualified technician.

Where is the "show all" link in the new IOS 7 App Store, when viewing all apps of a developer?

it seems that I found another problem with the new IOS 7. I like the program "AppTicker" which tells me about free programs. I used to open a program, then go to releated and then look at all the programs of the developer. There was one line for iPad apps and one line for iPhone apps. If the developer had many apps, there was also a link called "show all", which showed alls iPad or iPhone apps of the developer.
Where is that link, please??
The reason, why this link is so important: Take i.e. Disney which has a promotion and half there products are free. I went on show all and in a second bought all free programs, before installing deleted them from the iPad and they were stored in my iCloud. Even if I alread had a few programs from Disney, I saw the iCould symbol, telling me, that I already bought that program.
Now it seems, I have to open one by one to see if I already bought the program or not. That is a major step back and if I don't find a solution a reason to go back to IOS 6, if that is possible.

In the Library dialog, there is a section for tags. You can open that using either:
* Command+Shift+b
* Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
To create something like that on your Bookmarks menu or Bookmarks toolbar, you need to create a "smart" bookmark folder. The nice feature is that it breaks out your "all tags" by the tag, so there's less scanning through the list.
(1) Select and copy this places query:
place:type=6&sort=1
(2) In the Library dialog, create a new bookmark on the Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Toolbar. Click the relevant location, then either:
* right-click > New Bookmark
* Organize menu > New Bookmark
(3) In the Name, enter a query description such as Alpha Tags
(4) In the Location, paste the places query
(5) Click Add.
(6) If you get a dotted rectangle instead of a blue folder icon: drag the new bookmark to another location, e.g, a folder, the Bookmarks Toolbar, etc., within the Library dialog. This forces Firefox to recognize it as a query-type bookmark. The icon should change from the dotted rectangle to the blue search folder icon. Then you can drag it back to your preferred location.
After that, it should work from your Bookmarks menu or Bookmarks toolbar (wherever it ended up) just like the Tags section of the Library dialog.

Why did the new ios wiped out my ipod?

I have 2 ipod touches. My old one I use for my kids, and I bought a new one almost a year a go that I have my personal things on.
I was trying to sync some music on the new one today but I got a message that the ios on the ipod need to be updated and could not be synced without the updates. I then got a message that itunes on my pc needed to be updated as well.
I was upset, because I simply wanted to do a sync with some music. I agreed to the download & after 30 minutes, it said it was done, but all my photos, apps, background, everything form my new ipod was gone, and the background from my old ipod with all it's apps are now in its place. In addition, It still will not sync any songs & has the original songs on the ipod. What is going on? How can I fix this? I need all the apps, notes, photos, ect that I had on the new one. It does me no good to have 2 ipods with the same things. If that were the care, I would have just kept sharing one with my kids.
I strongly dislike the new ios & itunes also, they are not user friendly. Can I just revert back to what was on it this morning?

I upgraded to the new iTunes 7 today and HOLY COW it's so slow I almost don't want to use it! Deleting a single song takes over 2 minutes! I'm not even doing anything trickey like downloading or copying - just opening and deleting are OUCH! slow! Why?

I just downloaded the new OS 7 to my iPad mini and it sure is moving slow now. It takes about 10 seconds to move to an Internet site and often that long to go from page to page, like on Amazon.
Also, I see no way to get a new Tab for Safari. Is there a button I'm just not seeing? Thanks to anyone who can help me.

New iOS 7.01 iPhone 5. When you go to check you calendar entry's it does not bring up all the entry's only shows entry's for each day. Why?

When in month view, swipe up or down to change the month, tap the litle icon "three lines horizontal" next to the search icon, and you have a list view of all events. Clicking the icon twice again, brings up the Day view, and then again tapping twice the list view again....
Personally I am not very happy with this "advanced" app, and I have installed Week calendar which basically is another interface to the same calendars database.

I tried to connect the iphone 4s to my linux machine that normally works.
Since my last iOS upgrade the quesdtion comes up to TRUST the computer.

No, your Linux machine does not produce the proper response to the phone. Until someone on the Linux side reverse-engineers what AppleMobieDeviceSupport does when presented with that response, trust is not possible.
This is a security change in response to the fact that previously the iPhone would open itself up to any USB connection as soon as it was plugged in, and that connection could do whatever it liked, be it benign or malicious.

Okay, there is someone I know here with pretty much the same internet. He said it took less than an hour, Im just hopeing there isnt anything wrong with my mac.

I have Photoshop Elements 12 and the new Canon 7D mark II. My RAW files will not open.

I have already downloaded the plugin 8.7. I ran the exe file, an it still doesn't work. Am I am going to have to buy Photoshop elements 13 to get my RAW files to open? If that's the answer, I'll do that, but I just want to know for sure before I buy it.

Hi,
Camera raw 8.7.1 is not supported by Photoshop Elements 12.
You need to upgrade to Photoshop Elements 13 or you could use the Adobe DNG converter.
The DNG converter is a standalone application which can take the CR2 files and convert them toDNG files. The DNG files can then be processed by Photoshop Elements 12. This does add an extra step to your workflow though.

Why does the new iOS 8.0.2 software refresh your apps if you back out to text or check another app? It's frustrating and its racking up my data charges and I really don't like it!

look I updated my phone to iOS 8.0.2 and now any time I back out of an app to text someone or check on another app it refreshes the page (if I'm on the internet) or the app and it's really annoying. If someone could please tell me how to fix this or just help get a new software up please do. It is racking up my data usage with all the refreshing and its getting really annoying and expensive.

Same issue here both with my iphone 5S as well as my iPad2. THe sync to my macbook air does not complete and it shows a large overcapacity level when connected, but once I disconnect there is plenty of room (4 GB) available, not a 20 GB overage.

HT5295 Has the "get more episodes" link gone away with the new ios podcast app? If I want another episode of a podcast, I have to exit the app and go to itunes and search for the show and episode?

Do I really need to navigate out of the app to simply download a new or different episode in the Podcast app? Was a simple one touch before, but maybe I am missing something.

Nevermind, I realize you must the have subscription button (in settings) turned to 'on' in order to manage/DL episodes.
