Why is there extra white space after exporting to JPEG?
After exporting an *.ai file to jpeg using 150 ppi and 5 for compression, I have extra white space below the artwork. This has happened in two files after exporting.
Urthie,
What about the Artboard, is that aligned to the Pixel Grid (it is if the size is a whole number of points/pixels and one corner is at X=Y=0 or another set of integer values, otherwise not)?
Edit: Cross posting.
Congratulations, some things are difficult to spot (and guess for others); your finding the solution is the best happy ending.

Why is there extra white space at the top of swf file?
I can't figure out how to get rid of extra white space in the browser at the top of a swf file. It looks fine when I preview the file, but when I do publish preview in flash/ try to incorporate in HTML, there's an extra 1/4" at top of window.
Do you have the html page (that you have the swf file embedded into) set so that there are no page margins? Your "body" tag should look like this…
<body leftmargin="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" topmargin="0"> -
Why is there extra white space on below the navigation bar?
I am running Nightly 6.0a1, and for the past few days, there has been extra white space under the Navigation Toolbar, as though there is an extra empty toolbar. The only toolbar I have is the Navigation Toolbar. BTW, this happens w/ tabs on top and bottom. Here's a screenshot: [http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/cg2916/extraspace.png http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/cg2916/extraspace.png]
Do you see any toolbars listed in "Nightly > Options" that are visible but do have a check mark?

Why is there extra white space around an imported image?
I had made a JPEG2000 format image sized at 119 pixels wide by 142 pixels tall. Went to convert it to a pdf file and Acrobat took the liberty of enlarging the images size to what I assume is the smallest size supported by the format.
Any ideas on how to resolve this without having to open and edit the pdf directly? Ya know, during export.
Acrobat Version: XI ProThe new Acrobat size is formatted at 1 inch by 1 inch (300px x 300px). Importing this new *.pdf file back into photoshop interestingly reduces this back to the original size, however, handling of the pdf when importing into say, InDesign, will retain the new size. This might be just be a media box, but I would rather change the formatting than adjust placement options every time.

I have two seperate sites/seperate root folders that I am building right now and every image that I insert into Dreamweaver has an extra white space added to the left of every image. Please help, I must have checked/unchecked something in my preferences. Thank you!
Its not in my CSS or in the HTML coding...from my site:
<a href="optomized-large/Havana-Night-(66-of-312).jpg" title=""> <img src="optomized-thumb/Havana-Night-(66-of-312).jpg" width="100" height="150" alt="" /> </a>You do know how wrong it is to make a web page that is nothing but images, right? It's on the list of the 10 worst mistakes you can make for sure.
Anyhow, look at this page -
http://www.murraytestsite.com/denver.html
I have outlined every image on that page with a 1px red border. There is no unwanted white space being added to those images. If there were you would never see the menu button images that close together. I have also put a 1px green border on the left of the container div. Note that the images are snug against that green border. -
Extra white-space after page proccess
I am trying to suppress white-spaces after the page is
processed.
Usually it doesn't bother me, but it does bother javascript.
Explanation:
1. I am sending an xmlhttp request to coldfusion to process.
2. Coldfusion runs a stored procedure on an oracle database
that returns the results as XML.
3. Coldfusion returns the XML back to the client:
<cfoutput>#XmlParse(ajaxXML)#</cfoutput>.
4. The client (Javascript) runs the function that handle the
data and returns an error because: "
xml declaration not at start of external entity".
I have tried using cfsetting with the attribute:
enablecfoutputonly="yes", but still the result is the same.
Any idea or lead in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated. The XML that the DB returns, looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<rowset>
<row>
<column_name>value</column_name>
<column_name>value</column_name>
</row>
</rowset>
After playing with code for a while now, I believe that the
problem is not with the returned XML.
The page that runs the SP is the page that call the SP. What
means that the white-spaces are the code that the Coldfusion engine
has already processed (although, the condition that checks whether
the form variable that Ajax request, exist. Is the first thing on
the page). to my understanding, the returned XML should be at the
top of the page.
I hope that I was clear enough.
Thank you. -
Usemap error - extra white space after image -solved: area shape must be inline
When using image hotspots, if the <area shape= "rect" is not IMMEDIATELY after the <map name="Map">, then FF adds a white space (white horizontal line) after the image.
White space shows between shop_top.jpg and shop_mid.jpg:
<pre><nowiki><img src="images/shop_top.jpg" width="1022" height="259" border="0" usemap="#Map">
<map name="Map"><area shape="rect" coords="251,147,435,252" href="http://www.example.html">
<img src="images/shop_mid.jpg" width="1022" height="3250"></nowiki></pre>
Images are touching vertically (no space in between):
<pre><nowiki><img src="images/shop_top.jpg" width="1022" height="259" border="0" usemap="#Map"><map name="Map"><area shape="rect" coords="251,147,435,252" href="http://www.example.html">
<img src="images/shop_mid.jpg" width="1022" height="3250"></nowiki></pre>Maybe Mozillazine's Web Devel / Standards Evangelism forums may help better.

Why is there jumping between shots after exporting to quicktime from FCP7?
Working in FCP7, after exporting a self contained quicktime, there is jumping between shots. I tried to remove the transitions, rerendered then re exported but the jumping is still there. I can't figure out what's going on as it's not happening on all the sequence. Please help!!
Hi Kippybop - sorry to hear you sharing this problem, but nope....still not sorted.
So far I've got all the frame rates matching sequence settings. I've done two exports with and without transitions and there is still jumping between shots - however, it does seem to be shorter without the transition. So whatever the problem is, is something to do with the beginning and end of clips and is made worse, and extended by adding transitions - but this doesn't apply to all clips which is really baffling.
I've also made a new sequence and copied the original clips from the problematic sequence - still no change. So the only impovement is the removal of video transitions, which is not exactly ideal. I can watch the jumpy .mov on the 'finder' viewer full screen with no jumping, but all other media players show glitches between clips.
I've done a grab of a clip and the sequence settings, which I think are correct, but please if there are any generous FCP7 experts reading, any suggestions are very much appreciated... -
Extra White space after an inserted table
Between a table I inserted into my document and the first line of text after my table I have almost a full page of blank space. There is no paragraph marker shown when I click "hide/show" and I cannot do anything with the document within the
blank space. There is no page break that I can remove in the paragraph function with my cursor in front of that subsequent line of text. It is also not a style problem unless it has something to do with the table style. Please help. I'm using Microsoft
Word 2013.Could you create a stripped-down copy of the document (without sensitive information) and make it available through one of the websites that let you upload and share a file, such as Microsoft OneDrive (https://onedrive.live.com),
FileDropper (http://filedropper.com) or DropBox (http://www.dropbox.com). Make sure that you share the document (click Share, then Get a link), then post the link to the uploaded and
shared file in a reply here.

Why is there large used space after erasing external drive with disk utility?
I just used disk utility to erase a 2 TB external hard drive. After erasing it, it shows that the disk has 12 folders, 62 files, and 852 mb of used space. I thought the "erase" function is supposed to format the disk? Where does the large used space come from?
By the way, the disk used to formatted as a windows disk. I suspect it has something to do with it but have no idea what. Any help is greatly appreciated!HI - i do not think this is purely metadata. (though it could be with your windows disk with such small used memory) i have a 1TB macbook pro drive that i have tried to reformat
METHOD 1 (recommended by advanced Apple Techy) - select hard drive (not partition) select mac os (journalled) and press 'apply' - "this will format drive removing all data. it is always best to work with the drive and not partition, if you are formatting an entire drive."
result at end - drive still shows single partition 999GB WITH 668GB USED
METHOD 2 (after response from Apple techy) - select hard drive and mac os (journalled), press secure erase and select 'write zeros' takes 12 hours
result at end - drive still shows single partition 999GB WITH 668GB USED -
UNWANTED EXTRA WHITE SPACE AFTER DETATCH OPERATION
Hi,
In our application, we have summary pages and each summary page is having various sections.
These sections are implemented using PanelCollection component. In each of these sections we have "Detach" button.
On click of the "Detach" button, the section gets expanded. Again if I click the "Detach" button, the section is being displayed in normal mode but the height of the section is increased.
We are observing this behavior in Firefox and IE.
For each section we specify the "autoHeightRows" to 10.
I'm not sure what might be the issue. Any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks
Ravi

Conditional Build Tab for image leaves extra white space
I've applied the "Print" Conditional Build Tag to an image in
my online help. When I generate the help and view it in the
browser, extra white space is inserted between the steps. For
example, instead of the steps being:
1.
2.
3. etc.
They now look like this:
1.
2.
3. etc.
Why is there extra white space where the image used to be?
Thanks in advance for your help. Using RoboHelp7 -- WebHelp.
BillProbably there is a paragraph break or a space that you can't
see but is not enclosed in the conditional tag.
Check the html code immediately before and after the tag.

Extra white space in Firefox, not IE
Hello. I'm new to Dreamweaver and am having an issue I can't
figure out. I was hoping someone might have insight into where my
problem is.
In the following site,
http://www.firststepshr.biz,
it previews as designed in Internet Explorer. However, in Firefox,
extra white space (or blue background on the home page) is
appearing above and below the Flash header. I can't, for the life
of me, figure out why there's this difference.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, in advance, for the advice.
JeremyI don't see extra white space in FF2x.
If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from the next
version of
Dreamweaver.

Issues in Application table - extra white space with and without scroll bar
1. There is an extra white space that comes after the last column in all the applications table, when there is no scroll lbar.
2. If the scroll bar comes up then, there is an extra white space on top of the scroll bar.
[http://www-apps.us.oracle.com/~jkodiyan/fusion/screenshots/appstablespace1.jpg]It would be best to follow this up in your internal ApplCore / ADF frontend forum..
screenshot for issue #1: http://www-apps.us.oracle.com/~jkodiyan/fusion/screenshots/appstablespace2.jpg
That's an internal Oracle URL - Probably not a good idea to share on the internet and it's not accessible outside anyway... -
Extra White Space Around Header Graphic & NavBar
I have a header graphic and Navigation Bar (rollover images)
positioned inside a table. Unfortunately, there is about 1-2 pixels
of white space on the left, right, and top of the header graphic.
Same with the NavBar--there's 1-2 pixels of white space on the
edges (left & right sides). By default, cell padding for the
table is set to zero. If cell padding is set to zero, why am I
seeing white space between the edge of the graphic and the edge of
the table?
You can see what I'm referring to here:

Personally, I thought that the white border was a feature,
but... In
addition to the cellpadding, add cellspacing:
<table width="780" border="0" align="center"
cellpadding="0"
cellspacing="0" bordercolor="#000000" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
