Why LDAP C include files in private directory?

Hi All.
I have installed Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.1. I will be developing an LDAP client application using C. But in the installation directory, all the include files required to develop the LDAP client using C programming language is kept in the dsee6/private folder. Why are all the include files in the directory called "private"? Is the LDAP C SDK deprecated? Is the LDAP C SDK not supported anymore by Sun? Even all the documentation related to LDAP C SDK is not available in DSEE 6.1 package.
Any information on this highly appreciated. Thanks for your help.
Rgds,
anna

I believe Mozilla is now the primary maintainer of the Netscape/iPlanet/Sun/Mozilla LDAP C SDK.
More information here:
http://wiki.mozilla.org/LDAP_C_SDK
DSEE 6.x, of course, is a Sun product.
You don't need DSEE installed just to get the SDK.
If I were you, I'd download the SDK from Mozilla, and use it to develop your client app independently of the DSEE installation paths.

  • Why can't create file under /home directory?

    I user solaris10, and login as root,I find I can't create any file or directory under /home directory! It say "operation not applicable" ,Why? I am puzzled it for a long time. Anyone could tell how to do it?
    Thanks

    For Solaris,
    /home is not an on-disk file system, it is a file system under the
    control of the automounter, and only the automounter can create
    directories/files in it.
    If you don't want the automounter to manage /home, then remove the
    "/home" entry from /etc/auto_master
    (and issue the command "automount -v" to force the file
    to be reread, or reboot).
    However, the typical setup for Solaris is to locate user's home directories
    in /export/home.

    In Visual C++ you have to go to the Tools menu and select Options... then on the Directories tab you have to add for Include files both the jdk\include AND jdk\include\win to the list of directories and then there will be no problem finding the header files.

  • Huge .HFS+ Private Directory Data file on external hard drive

    I have an external hard drive I use for storing photos and music to keep my internal hard drive less burdened. Everything works fine. In addition I have a MacBook running 10.5.6, which has been attached to the same external hard drive a few times but generally is not.
    I was using WhatSize to see how my storage was being used and was surprised that 10% of my external drive (25GB) is now in a hidden folder called .HFS+ Private Directory Data. Inside the folder are over one hundred subfolders with all kinds of random stuff in them. From reading on here it seems that the folder is primarily there to tell the computer where to find things but 25GB is starting to impinge on my usable space and seems way out of proportion. The entire rest of the external hard drive only has 95GB of data, almost entirely simple iTunes and iPhoto libraries. I think I did one or two Time Machine backups from the MacBook but they are now irrelevant as I have nothing on that computer I need backed up anymore.
    Is there any way to shrink that directory down without screwing everything up? It seems to be growing in a way that will render the external drive useless at some point.

    Try using something like OnyX to clear the caches on the external.

  • Importing Movies in iMovie why are they located in a file called Private

    Hi
    I have just plugged my video camera into my macbook. I selected Import from camera and then directed the archive to a connected mypassport drive. The problem is they are now all located in a file called Private.???? How do I extract the files from there to a specific folder please. I plan to have a mypassport drive for all my preedited videos and then store the edited final cut version on my mac. I cant seem to drag the files from this folder to one of my choice.  HELP Please

    Now, it still works that way, with a wrinkle. It moves all the files from your camera to the place you specify, but now it places them in a package. The package looks like the archive is a single file, but in reality, it contains all the files and folders as before. To see what is in the package, right click on the package name and select Show Package Contents. You should now see all the folders and files.
    Good point AppleMan. I had forgotten about that wrinkle, even though I've previously mentioned it in other posts. Probably because I generally don't import from Archives, but straight from the camera.
    I use a ShedWorx app called RevolverHD rather than iMovie's built-in Archive feature as it provides for selective archiving of clips. With iMovie the only option is to archive the full contents of the camera (Archive All). As my camera is a 60GB hard drive model (allowing about 8 hours at the highest setting), I tend to keep clips on the drive until I need space for new recordings. Using iMovie for the archive results in duplication, as all the older clips are archived again. It then gets a bit messy keeping track of things if, in the meantime, I've deleted any clips from the camera.
    The only downside to using RevolverHD is that, whilst the archive shows the correct recording date and time, when imported to iMovie the clips show the date and time imported, not the recorded date and time. For this reason, I prefer to import directly from the camera. I understand (from my reading of your posts), that you import from the iMovie archive. Once you are happy with the import you then erase your camera card. So, when next using iMovie's Archive All feature, the new archive will comprise just your new clips. That's probably the ideal process, as it keeps things tidy, imports the correct date and time, and guarantees that the archive is reliable.
    Sorry to move a bit beyond the OP's question, but thought this might be of interest to others here.

    I have had this problem before and just put the include file in the root directory. That works.

  • LabView 2010 Application Builder for EXE Always Included files are not Included

    In LabVIEW 2010 F2, When I am using the Application Builder to build an EXE file, I have listed 10 or so files to Be "Always Included". But when I Explore the directory where the EXE was built, those "Always Included" files are not there or in any subdirectory under the EXE file.
    This frequently makes my EXE file not work properly because important files are missing. I have to spend extra debugging time to find out the the cause of my problem is missing files that the Application Builder should have transferred "Always".
    Why did the Application Builder, when building an EXE target, not include the files that should be "Always Included"?
    Why does the Application Builder ignore these files specifications?

    Dennis Knutson wrote:
    The build does include files you select. Post an example project with a small VI and some separate files where this does not happen.
    No, it does not appear that all of the files that I listed in the "Always Include" list are copied during the Build process to the Build directory or any subdirectory under that.
    The Build Source Files.jpg file shows most of the list of the files that should be "Always Included". Notice the .VI and .ctl files that are listed
    The Build Directory.jpg file shows the file in the Build directory that were built.
    The Data Directory.jpg file shows the data directory under the Build directory and may include some of the files listed in the "Always Include", but not all of them.
    The other subdirectories under the Build directory were created by me and do not include any files that were copied during the Build process.
    So not ALL of the files that were included in the "Always Include" list were copied into the Build directory area as expected. ALL of the files that are listed as "Always Include" should be copied, if they exist. Those files existed when then were selected for the List and they existed at the time of the Build.
    I can not include an example project that demonstrates this. I am prevented from doing so by the terms of an NDA. You are going to have to take my word that this event is real and happens the same way every time. This information should be sufficient for someone to investigate why do not ALL of the files listed in the "Always Include" list are copied into the Build directory area regardless of the file type or contents.

    Careful with full paths: It's a standard relative jsp path: See this explanation from the syntax reference:

  • PCC-S-02015, unable to open include file(gnu/stubs-32.h)

    Hi,
    I was trying to precompile one of the sample files from the "Pro*C/C++ Precompiler
    Programmer’s Guide" and I got this error message:
    Fehler in Zeile 7, Spalte 11, in Datei /usr/include/gnu/stubs.h
    # include <gnu/stubs-32.h>
    ..........1
    PCC-S-02015, Einfügedatei konnte nicht geöffnet werden.
    (Which means "unable to open include file")
    I couldn't find any an answer on the forum, so I figured it out for myself.
    I just wanted to post it so in case somebody else faces the same problem, they would have the solution here.
    The machine is a virtual Linux host running on a 64Bit architecture, so I was surprised why is it looking for stubs-32.h and not stubs-64.h.
    The answer is in the stubs.h file:
    #include <bits/wordsize.h>
    #if __WORDSIZE == 32
    # include <gnu/stubs-32.h>
    #elif __WORDSIZE == 64
    # include <gnu/stubs-64.h>
    #else
    # error "unexpected value for __WORDSIZE macro"
    #endifSo let's check the bits/wordsize.h file:
    #if defined __x86_64__
    # define __WORDSIZE     64
    # define __WORDSIZE_COMPAT32    1
    #else
    # define __WORDSIZE     32
    #endifSo I figured out you can define __x86_64__ in two places:
    The file: precomp/admin/pcscfg.cfg
    Most probably you just need to add define=__x86_64__ and that should do the trick.
    Unfortunately I couldn't try it because I didn't have write permission on that file.
    The other way is to pass it in the command line:
    proc sample1.pc MODE=ORACLE DEFINE=__x86_64__+
    This way the precompiler created the output .c file without errors.
    Cheers
    PS: Don't try to define the __x86_64__ in the .pc file, or you'll get a warning when you compile the .c file. Not a big deal, just desn't look good :-D

    Ideally speaking your pcscfg.cfg should have the paths to the directories where you will be getting all your headers from
    Based on what linux flavor & version of gcc you have the following directory will have the headers you are missing
    /usr/lib/gcc/ABC-XYZ-linux/<gcc_version_no>/include
    where ABC could be i386/i586 depending on the hardware and XYZ could be the linux flavor like redhat/suse/whatever you have

  • Robocopy - Include directories (as opposed to Include files) option?

    Hello,
    I would like to copy only a given set of directories using robocopy. How can this be achieved? Is there an option that I am missing?
    Details of my requirement:
    - I already use robocopy to sync a large number of binary files. I use robocopy obviously because I want to copy only the files that are changed since the last copy. (something like rsync)
    - Almost always I can run the robocopy on the top level directory. But once in a while (very infrequently), I need to copy a few files (~100 files) from 3-4 directories. I do not want to copy anything else. Again, not all files within these 3-4 directories have changed. But I know that the files that have changed are within these directories. So again using robocopy will be ideal because it will detect and copy only the changed files.
    From what I see so far, there is no way to provide just these directory names to robocopy and copy the appropriate files. I will have to loop through these directories and then robocopy individual files. Is that correct? Or is there an option in robocopy that can achieve this?
    Many thanks,
    -Hari

    Hello Bill,
    Thank you very much for the quick response.
    Yes, that is an option. I am trying to avoid making wholesale changes to the script that I currently have and that is why I was desperately looking for a robocopy option that takes files/dirs to include. I guess I should give more details to explain why it will require wholesale changes.
    We already have a script that goes through various processing and does something like this at the end:
    robocopy MySourceDir MyDestDir /E /XD <...>
    Here MySourceDir and MyDestDir are top level directories. So far the script's work (before it executes robocopy) has been to determine the MySourceDir and MyDestDir (where to push to, which branch should the files come from etc..) and also what files to exclude.
    The requirement that I mentioned above (need to copy certain directories only) came in now. And an additional point that I missed is that along with the certain number of directories, a few top level files can make it to the list as well.
    This essentially means that I will need to
    (a) write a section to first identify if its a file or a directory
    (b) then create an appropriate robocopy command, depending on if its a file or a directory
    (c) in addition, the file in question can be there in any number of sub-directories. For example, I might have a hari.xml file at the top level + a couple of sub-directories. But I just want the hari.xml at the top to go out. Since the file syntax of robocopy does not take the path (AFAIK), it gets a bit more complicated.
    In order to avoid all these, I was looking for an option where robocopy will just take an include pattern of sorts (just like rsync's --include or --include-file options).
    It looks like I will have to rework the script quite a bit to get this done. But just wanted to check in here in this forum to see if there is a better solution out there.
    thanks,
    -Hari

  • Included files don't work on network paths

    I often include css and php files with absolute paths from to
    the site root, like this for example:
    <link href="/css/basic.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    ... and Dreamweaver has always rendered the page in design
    view just as if these included files were part of the current file,
    just as it should work. Unfortunately this doesn't work anymore
    since I moved all the sites to a network path. Now I have to use
    relative paths, for example:
    <link href="../css/basic.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    ... or the page won't render properly (it can't find the
    css-files). Why does having the files on a network path screw up my
    sites this way?
    Thanks in advance!

    A little update: Instead of using the complete network path
    (\\DOMAIN\foo\bar\etc) I mapped a network drive to that directory,
    and it works. The problem is that all developers need to have the
    same volume letter mapped to this network path, and that's going to
    be a problem. I really don't understand why DW can't work with
    network paths.
    This is on Windows XP Pro btw.

    Teri,
    The reference is made in ojsp-global-include.xml in your WEB-INF directory.
