Why one byte output file ?

Hi,
I am trying to execute following query in aix. My objective is to create 0 byte spool file if my query is returning no rows.

In RoboHelp 11 Responsive HTML5, is it possible to have 2 different language outputs in one generated output file, similar to WebHelp where the use can select the language from a drop-down list? In Webhelp output you could create multiple Content categories. Is there something similar with the responsive output, or am I forced to have a completely separate set of output files for each language (for example, English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic)?

As Rick, mentions, there's no default way.
Having said that, there's nothing stopping you from doing it yourself. You can add a kind of language selector to the layout and set that for every html5 output. With some JavaScript, you can have the user switch between your outputs. It would look like content categories, but you'll have build it yourself.

Why one group of files takes so long to copy

Hi... I have two different folders full of files that I occasionally backup to another location. Both sets contain approximately 3000 files each. However, what I will call set 1's 3000 files represent about 700 MBytes of data while the 3000 files in set 2 are about half that size at about 350 MBytes.
The vast majority of those files are never changed. Instead, each week perhaps a few kilobytes and maybe 10-20 files might change. When I copy set 2 to its backup location, the copy might take 15 seconds tops. When I copy set 1 to its backup location on the same drive as set 2, the backup takes at least a factor of 10 longer... Maybe more... I could imagine a factor of 2 since there are twice as many MBytes of data in that set 1 but why might it be taking so, so much longer??? I've looked at the file attributes between the two sets and they appear to all be the same.
Even more interesting, if I do the backup for set 2 (the faster one) that I said maybe takes 15 seconds tops, if I immediately do the same thing again, it now takes less than a second meaning that the system seems to know those files have not changed since the previous copy. However, if I do the same with set 1, the second immediate copy takes every bit as long as the first copy just took moments before... It's as if something is telling the Finder to go ahead and recopy ALL of those files every time whether they have changed or not.
Any input on why I might be seeing that??? I care because I also backup these files via an online backup service and that set 1 group of files always takes a ton longer on that service as well. What might cause this???

Well, maybe more detail would help but I was trying to keep it simple. There are certain files that I now and then copy into encrypted, sparse disk images and I then backup those encrypted disk images elsewhere. Currently I open the disk images which then shows the files/folders but those might be a few weeks old. I then open the same folders that exist elsewhere on my computer and that's when I use the drag and drop to update what will soon be relocked up into the encrypted disk images.
Sets 1 and 2 as I described them above are just natural groupings of files/folders I once chose those these encrypted disk images wouldn't be incredibly large.
I do have Disk Warrior as somone asked above...
And I don't have Carbon Copy Cloner but I do have its cousin, SuperDuper which I used to backup the entire computer to a backup drive now and then.
And I doubt I'm running into memory problems as this is a new rMBP with 16 GBytes of RAM
I could use SuperDuper to copy these files for me... Might be worth a try... But it's just so curious that one group of files copies in an instant when you copy and then immediately copy again while the second group seems to want to redo the copy every time you request it... It might just be a few funny files in that one group... Interesting...

Why is the output file jerky ?

Hi there,
I have AE CS5 on my Mac. My system is 27" iMac core i5 with 12 GB RAM DDR3 1333 MHz with quad core.
I rendered a 40 seconds clip with an earth spinning.
I output it to mov format in 1920 x 1080.
When I did a RAM preview, it was fine & the earth was spinning smoothly.
But the output file (in mov) - (I did thru Composition > Make movie) when I play using QuickTime player is jerky at 20th Sec to 29th sec.
I then import this mov file into Final Cut, it look stuck in the Viewer but was perfect on the Canvas.
When I render in Final Cut, the output file as mov and use the same Quick Time player to play it & it is perfect.
Can I know what is the reason that it is not working in Quick Time the first time when it was fresh out from AE ?

The default render settings use Quicktime Animation codec at best quality. These files will not playback smoothly because the data rate is too high for the hard drives to keep up with. The animation codec is a lossless codec designed not designed for playback.
Final Cut uses compressed codecs designed for playback as the default. I'd suggest that you open up the help files (F1) and read the entire section on Rendering and Exporting (link).

Why Is Video Output File So Large?

Hi, everyone,
I have a video screen capture demonstrating a piece of software that I work with. The video is 5:30 long at 30 FPS. It is 7.5 MB, encoded in H.264 (I transcoded it to this format myself.)
I want to cut out 1:30 of the video. So I opened iMovie, added this video to a 30 FPS project, cropped the two portions I want from the event (minus the 1:30 I don't want), and placed them together in the project with a fade-to-black transition between them. I exported the video to the same size, using the same H.264 encoder.
Now the file is 75 MB.
Can someone tell me what I have done to increase this file so much? I would love any tips to get this file back down to 7.5 MB.

there are a few other 'knobs' to play with ... :
usually, there's no need for 30fps on a screengrab - who cares when the mouse cursor 'stutters'?
for a public viewing, 15fps would reduce file size by half.
next, for screengrabs, I wouldn't suggest h254 but Animation ...
last, and most important: bitrate. in the many option&sub-options of the Export with Quicktime dialog, you're allowed to set manually the bit-rate. for plain graphical content as a sreen-grab you can experiment with ultra-low settings, <1.000kB/s or even <500kB/s ... even for a 1920x1280 video (iM had changed the res of your grab into that res).
if the grab had a smaller res, you can re-size that on export in the same dialog too.
lowering frame-rate, bit-rate and probably resolution will help you to accomplish the goal.
for the last grain of quality on low bit-rate, I would also suggest the free x264-encoder which imho performs on low rates better than the original h264.-

Output file is in slow motion

When I render my video in after effects the output file is in slow motion, its not the render settings but something else.
Anyone can help me?

What do you mean that it's in slow motion? Are you sure that the problem isn't that you created a file so large that your video player and computer can't play it in real time?

Media Encoder CS4 output file size varies--why??

I was batch encoding several files yesterday, and one of the files failed. Adobe Media Encoder provided no details, other than when I hover over the yellow exclamation point error icon, it says: "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." Very insightful.
Today I reprocessed the file same file with the same preset [FLV - Same As Source (Flash 7 and Higher)] and it worked fine. To check for instability on my machine, I actually ran the same job 10 times, and each job succeeded. But the curious thing is, even though I was using the same input file and output preset, I see that the output files vary in size. The output sizes are:
30,739,977 bytes
30,750,834 bytes
30,750,504bytes
30,750,654bytes
30,739,928bytes
30,740,044bytes
30,750,615bytes
30,740,001bytes
30,739,979bytes
30,750,637bytes
Now I understand that this variation is less than 10kB on a 30MB file, so it's prety small. But I am curious as to why the file size would vary in this way.
Any ideas?

I would guess that you are overclocking your cpu and the cooler is not able to make the cpu cool enough and some calculations can go wrong. There are programs that put the cpu in a high load and check if it's running properly as expected. Give them a try.

RFC to XI File - can NEVER EVER get more than one record in Output file.

3 errors in mapping etc fixed (with help from SDN - thanks)
1) missing the ITEM level in the Data type (hence mapping)

Read multiple files and save all into one output file(AGAIN)

I need your help for reading data from multiple files and save the results into one output file. When files are selected from file chooser, my program read the data line by line , do some calculations and save the result into the output. I made an array to store input files and it seems to be working fine, but when it comes to SaveFile() function, issues NullPointException message.

Sorry about the long lines.
As you can see, all input files saved in array called files, however when OpenFile1() function is called, it take input (fileName_in) as a single file not an array. I'm assuming this causes the exception.
When there's muptiple inputs, program should take each file from getFileName() to outputToFile() sequentially.
Does anybody have an idea to solve this?

you naming convention is confussing. you should follows Java naming convention..you have a getXXX but decalred the return type as "void"...get usully means to return something...
your code is doing too much..and hard to follows..

The Output file name could be used from the field value of payload. For this you need to use the UDF DynamicFile name with below code,

Why are my exported files not going to me email? I have used 3 different ones.

Why are my exported files not going to my email (receipts & business card)? I have used 3 different ones...2 yahoo and 1 hotmail. I have checked spam box also.

For the Receipts app I chose to export the info as a PDF file..an email was requested..I entered info and clicked send. For the Business Card app I chose Send, not Print..an email was requested..I entered info and clicked send. I haven't received anything, not even in my spam folder.

how come when i open the output file from JCreator, i can not see anything there? yet, when i directly open the file "output.txt" from the directory storing the program source codes in the operating system, the output string "0 1 2... 9" is visible.

I am not sure of my facts but I think the problem is as follows. DataOutputStream writes bytes of primitive information. You can use the method .writeUTF() which is an ASCII-compatible encoding, instead of .write().
However textual output should be done with PrintWriter (or PrintStream in Java 1.0). JCreator is expecting ASCII or text to read.

Why the output file is so big?

         I am trying to write some data to the binary file. But the output file is very big. When I write 1M*4kB ,the file will more than 20MB. I don't know why.
        This is my vi, Please help me to find the fault,OK? Thank you very much.

It is NOT the same vi!!! You need to familiarize yourself with dataflow, LabVIEW does NOT execute left to right, any part can execute if all inputs have data.
In your particular case, the "file info" will execute at the same time you are building the file path. In addition, you are measuring the size of the stripped path and not of the new file. Try execution highlighting!
To fix your code:
You need to get the "file info" from the path AFTER you add the new filename.
Use the error cluster to enforce proper execution order as in my example. WIre the error out of "close" to the error in of "File info". Now the "File info" must wait until all inputs have data, which can only happen after "close" has completed.

Why no more clips and just one big .mov file?

I had been working in iMovie and iDVD 4 for some time up until present when I upgraded to iLife 6. One of the things I like about ver. 4 was that the whole movie was saved as a file but there were also the individual clips saved as well. I could use these clips when creating my iDVD project. Now I see that those clips are gone and there's just one big .mov file to drop into my iDVD themes. Why did they do this??? Is there some benefit to this that I'm not understanding? Maybe I don't have something set correctly in the prefs.? Is there anyway around this so that I have control over what part of a movie gets dropped into my iDVD themes?

Thank you so much, Matt. That did the trick. I would've never thought of that. I was beginning to figure that the clips just had to be somewhere else that wasn't obvious to me. I couldn't believe that they would do away with that. Thanks again!

Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes it work.
You may need to delete the temp folder (%TEMP%) to remove the old files.
