Why split content on a country by country basis?

What I want to know is why Apple went down the road of splitting content on a country by country basis? I know that the good folks at Apple like to think that they "think different" but even they must be shaking their heads at the mess they have created. All they needed to do was look at a model that actually works: E-Bay. If I live in Canada -- which I do -- and want to sell whatever to my fellow Canadians, no problem. If I want to sell it across the border in virtually any other nation, all it takes is the clicking of a radio button. If I want to preclude a particular nation, it  likewise requires a click or two. Buyers are likewise empowered.
Now take Apple. I've published an iBook Textbook [Yes I know: My first mistake.] I initially published it in Canada and a handful of other English speaking countries. Since it's an ESL textbook I've had enquiries now from Japan, Korea and Thailand, all looking to download the FREE sample and/or buy the book. But in Apple's world, they can't. And I can't upload it to the iTunes/iBookstore/iCouldNotGiveADamn in those countries either. This is not an option. This is an English language book that educators in those coutries have expressed an interest in. This isn't a technological problem related to fonts, l-to-r reading or anything of that nature. This is a problem related to bad decision making in the boardroom.
Another example of a model that works? Amazon. Apple has the technological lead with iBA but Amazon will catch up. Then you want to see rats leaving a sinking ship? I'll be the first in the water. This bizzare, control-freak approch is going to sink Apple's aspirations to dominate the textbook market.

    Hi All,
We are on ECC 6.0 instance.
While trying to post a JE, I am getting the error message "Company code not assigned to country or country to calculation procedure". I am able to post the JE for a another company code. It seems we are missing some configuration for the company code error is coming up.
Any ideas what is causing the errors. More details about the error are below:
Company code not assigned to country or country to calculation procedure
    Message no. FF703
    Diagnosis
An error occurred when checking the tax code. Either the assignment of company code and country or of country and calculation procedure is not correct.
    Procedure
    Check the system settings.
To do this, choose Maintain entries (F5).
    If the program error occurred
In a standard SAP program, then create an OSS message
In a program you wrote yourself, then correct the program.

    Hi,
You need to assign the tax procedure to company code.
Try transaction OBBG. and check whether the proper tax setting are maintained or not
You probably need to make other tax settings so you should check out
the menu Financial accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings>Taxes on
    Sales/Purchases in the IMG.
    Hope it will work.

  • "Company code not assigned to country or country to calculation procedure"

    Hi ,
I'm practicing SAP on IDES at home.
I have not created any 'Calculation procedure' (TAXINN or TAXINJ)  neither assigned any procedure to
country 'IN'. I have maintained tax category 'MWST' for 'IN' in OVK1 and also assigned my delivering plant
for tax determination. I have also maintained tax relevancy for master records ( OVK3 - customer  & OVK4 -
material ) and also maintained condition records for MWST.
Everything is working fine while creating normal sales order including accounting document creation &
posting. But when I'm creating a purchase order ( ME21N) for 3rd party process getting the error "Company
code not assigned to country or country to calculation procedure".
Plz help me with the solution how to create calculation procedure or which procedure should I assign to country 'IN' from the list of available procedure.
( I can't take help from FI guy as I'm practicing on my own )

    Hi Arveen,
Check calculation procedure using T.code OBYZ(IMG > Financial Accounting> Financial Accounting Global Settings--> Tax on Sales/Purchases --> Basic Settings -
    > Assign Country to Calculation Procedure.)
Select new entries--Enter tax procedure for India TAXINN-TAx procedure INdia
    Save.
Use T.code OBBG....select position...enter IN....against that assign the tax procedure created above and save.
Hope this resolves.Let me know if you still encounter problem.
    Thanks
    Aravind

  • Any reasons why the content of a fillable form cannot be viewed or printed?

I have created a 2-page form on Adobe Acrobat XPro. I emailed it to specific people and they filled it out, saved it and emailed it back. I am able to view what they typed in my monitor only, when I click on the field, but it will not print the content. Any reasons why the content of a fillable form cannot be viewed or printed?

That's what I asked the people I emailed the form to and someone just emailed me saying: "I'll check my adobe. It keeps asking me to update and I keep ignoring it so maybe it was my fault". So there is the answer I guess. I saved the document as an Extended PDF and selected Enable Additional Features. Is there anything else I should consider?

  • Why the content of the Explain Plan not show out?

Why the content of the Explain Plan not show out?
    I am using Oracle 11g.
I already ran the utlxplan.sql sctipt and I also set serveroutput on.
    SQL> set autotrace on
    SQL> EXPLAIN PLAN FOR SELECT*FROM DEMO_TABLE WHERE OWNER='HR';
    Explained.
    Elapsed: 00:00:00.67

    When you say:
My release 10.2 database display the Explain Plan automatically.
How to make 11.1.0.6 Oracle database to display the Explain Plan automatically. What do you mean? Specifically, what commands are you executing in the 10.2 database, that displays the execution plan "automatically"?
Are you saying that if you execute the same command in 11.1.0.6, you don't get a similar result? What happens? Do you get an error?
For both the 10.2 case and the 11.1.0.6 case, post the full output of the commands you're executing, and the result you are seeing.
Then, maybe someone can help you.
When you post the output, please encapsulate it in a pair "code" tags, which is the word "code" without the quotes, surrounded by a pair of curly braces {}.
When you do this correctly, the output looks like:
This is output from my execution plan run.and is much easier to read.

  • Company code not assigned to country or country to calculate procedure

    Hi,
When i am creating RFQ in MM its giving error "Company code not assigned to country or country to calculate procedure".
    Please help me out.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    Shankar

    Hi,
    Check this
Please check the settings at spro-FItax on sale and purchasesbasic settings--check calculation procedure-/-Assign country to calculation proceedure.
Assign country to calculation procedure in OBBG.
Check whether tax code is assigned to company code in SproLO general-Tax on goods mov.IndiaBasic settingsCondition Based tax Procedure--Assign tax code to company code.
    Try this also
    Do the Following Customisation :
    Step 1: Check Calculation Procedure
IMG >Financial Accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings >Tax on Sales/Purchases>Basic Settings >Check Calculation Procedure
Tax procedures are available in SAP for most of the countries. In case a tax procedure is not defined for your country proceed as follows:
In this go to Define Procedures Check for TaxINJ or TaxIN
If it does not exist create a new one by copying it from TaxGB
Step 2: Assign Country to CalculationProcedure
IMG >Financial Accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings >Tax on Sales / Purchases > Basic Settings >Check Calculation Procedure
In this step we assign the calculation procedure created in the earlier step to the country. The country is the country of the company code.
If you are living in India, then your country of the company code is India.
Step 3. Define TaxCodes for Sales and Purchases
IMG>Financial Accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings >Tax for Sales and on Sales/Purchases >Calculation>Define Tax Codes
    Update the following:-
Define two Zero Tax Codes input and Output Tax codes.
Go to OB40 Transaction code and Assign GL Account.
Do this your problem will be solved.

  • Co.code not defined to country or country to the calculation procedure erro

    Hai All,
Iam facing an error while creating the PO i.e., co.code not assigned to country or country to the calculation procedure error.
Actually, Iam working in 800 client and there is no TAXINN so how is it possible to assign the country India to the calculation procedure?
    Please help me out.
    Regards
    ANU

    Hi Friend,
I think you are working with SAP 4.7EE version. In 4.7EE version TAXINN procedure not created in 800 Client. If you have authorization to view 000 Client, You can find  TAXINN procedure in 000 Client.
For your problem, I will suggest 2 solutions:
Ist solution: Open simultaneously 000 and 800 clients in your system (4.7EE), then you can replicate the TAXINN procedure in 800 client.
Second solution: You can use any other available/existing Tax procedure in your client to resolve your said problem.
If you are using 4.6C version, you have to install CIN add-on.
From ECC6.0 Version you can find  TAXINN procedure in 800 client also. Please let me know if you have any clarifications.
    Thanks
    Chandra

  • Mwst (Departure country / Destination country or Export Taxes)

    Hi,
At the moment we have all mwst conditions maintained at Export Taxes.
Also for EU countries. What can go wrong? Or doesn't it matter where to maintain the tax codes?
Second question if you do make use of Departure country / Destination country you do not take into account the material and customer tax classifications. What is the idea behind not taken this into account?
    Best regards,
    Eric.
    Anybody?

    Hi,
For me it is still a little bit unclear.
I use MWST. The only thing what I do not understand is
when creating a record with VK11 (MWST) you can insert
    a record on
    1) departurre country and receiving country
    2) export taxes.
In which business scenario do you choice 1) and when 2)?
    Thank you,
    Eric.

    OK Thanks Brad.
I could use Tockify of course, but wanted to create the same things on an existing site.
I do not know how to copy the code and get it onto Muse, but that’s OK for now. I will work something else out.

  • Are contents of the ITunes store country-centric

In the iTunes store I am offered podcasts and some albums, but cannot see any songs library to buy songs. Someone mentioned that the store contents are country-centric. But why can users located in India not be permitted to buy songs? If I visit the US will my store display songs?
Or, am I doing something wrong?
    TIA

No one is going to fool around with this thing on a dial-up.
Which is why a broadband connection is highly recommended.
I don't think the store will survive this bad business decision.
They don't seem to be hurting after 5+ years and +2 billion downloads.
Sounds like you need to change a setting somewhere.

  • Why can't I access my home country App Store while in another country?

I've noticed that since the last iOS update that the new App Store will not let me download updates.  The apps were purchased using the Canadian App Store. Some purchases were made while I was physically in Canada. Others were made while traveling. I'm in China right now, and the App Store has started to reject my attempts to install updates. The system tells me that I cannot access the Canadian  app store from China. This used to work in iOS5, what has changed?

Apps can only be updated from the same country in which they were purchased.
You will have to re purchase the apps.
Keep in mind, your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • HT204411 why can't i buy from itunes store worldwide, even when i have a credit card? Why am i restricted to my own country?

Is there anyone who can enlightened me?
    Why so many barriers?

Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country...
    Also... See this Discussion...

  • Why iTunes is not supported in my country???

    Hi there,
Just wondering why Ipod supported only in short range of countries.
I just want buy songs from I tunes but because itunes is not supported yet in my country (Azerbaijan) i cant do that.
I think there should be some way of purchacing songs from itunes for people living in that countries where itunes is not supported yet....or it needs to be spreaded all around the globe where official ipod store has opened.
I have even tried go through with AOL screen name, but failed again, same problem not supported country name.
Hope this resolves in near future.
    Thanks

I should have made one other fact clear: iPods can be used very effectively without ever purchasing from the iTunes Store. You can rip your CDs to your computer and load the songs onto your iPod and you can load other digital songs on your iPod.
If part of your concern is that you can buy an iPod in your country but you think you can't use it because you can't buy from iTunes, that's simply not true. Many people use their iPods without ever buying music from iTunes - and with legally acquired music, too.
Further questions about iTunes and iPods should be posted in their respective forums:
Using iTunes for Windows (since your profile lists Windows as your computer platform)

  • Why it's Too expensive in my country?

Hi, my name is Diego, I'm from Argentina and I've been customer of apple for 10 years, had an ipod video, an 1,2 and 4 gen of ipod touch and I've been working with macs for 10 years. So i think i get the spirit within apple products.
On Friday i lost my old phone and i thought 'i should buy an iphone' I went to my carrier (personal, personal.com.ar, and the rest of the carriers are almost the same) and i told them i want to buy an iphone 4g on apple.com cost u$s 199 they want to sell it to me at u$s 1025.
And i thought 'ok maybe i should buy the iphone 3gS' u$s 49 they want to sell it to me at u$s 725.
Of course i didn't buy the iphones.
And since i'm an apple customer i want to know why in Argentina an iphone cost from 5 to 16 times more than it costs in the US.
Maybe it's a con from personal maybe are taxes but you can be sure it feels like a con.
Please you must take actions. You always say that apple cares, show it. This is WRONG
Would you buy one of your products if someone want you to pay 21 times more than what you know it costs in other country?
Sorry for complaining and for my english and i hope someone in apple take actions to stop this.
    Waiting for an answer.
    Regards
    Diego

We are all users here just like you and none of us will be able to tell you why your carrier is charging that price for the iPhone. The prices you see on Apple.com (US store) are for US iPhone's on either AT&T or Verizon. Those prices are only applicable in the US on those 2 carriers.
It may be due to exchange rates and carrier policies in your country that results in the high price. We do not know, no one here works for Apple. That is the price your carrier is charging and there is nothing that be done. You could check if another carrier is selling it for less but that is the only option you have.
