That being said, I should point out that you can reload pages in other ways.
* Right-click any tab and choose Reload.
* Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Reload.
* Press F5.
* Press Ctrl+R (Mac: Command+R).

I have done the Tools, application, email gmail setup for trying to get my email link to work. It still does not work. Have tried restarting & have verified gmail is selected for email. Used to work, quit working immediately after version 5 loaded.
Have windows 2000.You need to remove your Mac's windowserver preference files.
Do this by deleting the following items:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.[number].plist
After you've done that, reset your PRAM — turn off your computer, press the Power key and then press and hold the Option + Command + P + R keys at the same time until you hear a second startup chime.
After you've done that everything should be back to normal -

Could be an early retirement problem. There is no fixed lifespan for anything, as you know. Find a friend with a keyboard and test that in your machine. That will show if it is your keyboard or your computer. We can progress from there.

Firefox does not stop loading even after the site is loaded and continues as if it is still loading. I have clocked it to 15 minutes, why? edit

I understood your problem to be that Firefox never finished loading the page, i.e., some part of the page was loading too slowly.
By reloading, I meant Ctrl+r (or the reload button), to manually reload the page. You can disregard any cached files and reload all content fresh from the server by adding the Shift key, i.e., Ctrl+Shift+r (helpful when specific sites do not load correctly).
If the page is automatically reloading itself over and over, that sounds like a completely different problem. -

Because line-in has been removed.
It does allow for an Apple headset with mic., but I don't know if it would work with third-party ones.
You'll need to use a Griffin iMic or similar to use line-in via a USB port.
The same goes for the 15" retina, the newest MBA and the new iMac (whenever it finally arrives). -
A year ago I brought a 1 TB hard drive (My Passport), I have not used it for over 4 months and now when I use the USB cord to connect it to my mac, it does not register the hard drive. Does anyone know why this is happening?
The beeps could be caused by something as simple as a loose internal wire or connection. If it is under warranty (not sure how long that is, as WD drives range from 1 to 5 years depending on the model's series - I think "my passport" drives are 3 years) you could contact WD and ask them about it.
If it is out of warranty, you could also try opening the case and check the connections - the drive may be fine, and there have been posts on TomsHardware forums of people getting the beeps, opening up the case and the drive is fine, just some wire worked loose. -

For one thing, true call blocking (ie. where the call NEVER actually connects through to your number) can only be done by the service provider at their switches.
The best a device can do is allow the call to connect, and then use the caller ID information to compare that to a list of allowed and a list of disallowed caller IDs. That is a feature known as blacklisting, but it is not the same as actually blocking a call completely.
So as suggested, contact your carrier and ask what they can do for you. -

If you have an original iPad 1, the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5. So you should be able to update no problem.
Update iTunes to the latest version (11.0.2). Then simply plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. Click the iPad either in the sidebar or the top navigation bar. Then attempt to update the software. If it doesn't work, please post the exact error message.
Note that it would be wise to first ensure you back up the iPad. -
I am not the best typist but have tried going slowly. It seems the space bar is mis-aligned and when I try to add a space I get either and M or N. Very frustrating. Is there a way to recalibrate the screen to solve this problem?
are you connected to a wall charger while you are trying that?

Previously, when I typed my email address in an outgoing email or cut and pasted a link from my browser bar the link would become 'live' when I hit the space bar or 'enter' key. The link would turn blue and underline itself and the person receiving the email could just click on that live link and be taken to the site. Now the link does not turn blue or underline itself and the receiver must cut and paste the link into their browser bar to use it.
Why? I did not change anything in Yahoo or Mozilla.
I have deleted and reinstalled Java to no effect. I am using html in Yahoo.As it turns out, many others have been having similar issues on other browsers. It seems that maybe Yahoo! is taking a much longer time to load or something like that. Either way, its been working on and off all week, and the same issue even showed up yesterday with IE 8 instead of FF. It still loads faster than IE 8, but again is spotty. Some people think the issue may be with mail.yimg.com or s.yimg.com, which I could see was the loading url in the left corner whenever Yahoo! Mail was refusing to work. A couple of people said blocking it caused the issue. Alternatively, some people suggested blocking it to solve the problem. Does anyone have any information on that? Again, I have no add-ons that would be blocking any urls, and my firewall hasn't any records of it. I really don't want to do anything to mess up my browsers more than they may have already been. It sounds like you haven't yet setup iCloud with that account and you need to do that on a Mac or iOS device. Once setup, you can enable iCloud on a PC, but it needs to be setup first.

I have an iMac and also a MacBook. All of a sudden my iMac does not recognise my Canon 500D camera even though I have downloaded 1000s of photographs from it via the USB port. The MacBook recognises the camera immediately. Can anyone help?
Thank you for your reply. I know I can use a card reader however I don't see why I should when importing directly from my camera has worked reliably for years. The process I use is simply connecting the digital output from my camera to the USB port on the iMac, which has previously automatically opened iPhoto ready for the import. Now all of a sudden my iMac does not recognise the camera. However if I connect in the same way to my MacBook then iPhoto opens automatically on the MacBook, recognises the camera and is ready for importing. So whilst I know I can use a reader, or my MacBook I want to use my iMac in the same way that I have for years. I can only assume that the settings on the iMac may have changed, but I cannot verify this.

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?
I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work). "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon. -
my keyboard on macbook pro (laptop) is acting weird. One key is not responding at all. Have verified using Keyboard viewer and some other keys are printing the unresponsive character at random. "z" is the unresponsive character.
Is it a damaged keyboard ?
The laptop is just 2 months old, will Apple replace it with a new one if its indeed a damaged keyboard or just repair, I use it for official purposes so being without a laptop is not much of an option.No one here works for Apple, so we don't know what Apple might or might not do. If it's a genuine defect, they will of course repair it under warranty. It is not their responsibility if it effects your ability to work or not, so that's on you.
If, however, they determine that the key is problematic as a result of your misuse of the laptop, then everything is on you. And trust me, if they find a glob of dried up beer or coffee there, they will charge you.
Your only choice is to take it in for repair.
