Why was this included with reader?

Why was this program included with Adobe reader? I did not want Photoshop elements installed on my computer. If I had a choice to accept the download or not that would be fine but the choice was not even given to me. This program was piggybacked onto reader without my approval. If I want an Adobe product I will go and get it but I do not appreciate having the product loaded on my computer in this manner. It is bad enough that we have to use Reader to view PDF's as this is a bloated product. I do not want other Adobe products forced on my computer as well. end of rant.

I downloaded the updated Firefox, but the ad-on for converting YouTube music videos to mps files is now unavailable. How do I get it back? Why was this feature disabled?
In the former Firefox version there was a box to click for converting YouTube music videos into HQ mp3 files. That box is no longer apparent in the new Firefox version. I went back to Ad-On s and re-downloaded the program YouTube to MP3 1.2. It says it's not compatible with Firefox 6.0. Can I reinstall the older version of Firefox?

When I clicked on the second site mentioned, I got such EXPLICIT, step-by-step directions!!! Thank you so much. I'd been wondering what that window was that kept popping up with the Firefox icon and that other funny thing. The word *install* was never mentioned. Pictographs were never my thing.
When I looked under the initial system requirements, it said that OS X 10.4.5 and higher were good for 5.0. I didn't check further. Under your advice, I'll go with the older version. Thank you for taking the time to help me.

• Why would firefox release version 29.0.1. It is terrible! I had to find a plugin to change the tabs back. Bad decision. Why was this done?

Not happy with version 29.0.1 - Are there any plans to roll this back?

On my Windows 8 machine Firefox 29 (puke) no longer remembers my "Customize" icon settings ~ every time I close down Firefox and restart they all have disappeared. POS.
Whomever approved this radical of a change on the user experience without a nary of warning should be TERMINATED. This will go down in software history's top ten "Hall-Of-Shame"!!!

• Why was I charged with BT Bill Payments in 2013

In May and August in 2013, I was charged a BT Bill Payment with amounted to £125.94 and £126.31 respectively. These were debited out of my bank account.
Why was I charged with these payments, when I am already paying BT a monthly fee and will I be charged with these again this year?

• Idvd was not included with my mac mini how do I burn movies?

dvd was not included with my mac mini how do I burn movies?

It is now confirmed that iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.
You can purchase the iLife 11 boxed disk at the online Apple Store while supplies last or possible at Amazon.com or eBay.com.

• Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?

Why was deleted the RSS reader in Mail on OS X Mountain Lion?
How can I re-enable the RSS reader?

All RSS Readers that I tested from MacAppStore are much worst than Mail's in Lion.
Hate them all. I'm using blogtrottr.com to compile all RSS and send me via email. But it's flooding my mailbox. There're a bunch of them that require a Google Reader account, and I won't do that. It doesn't matter to Google which RSS I'm following.
I wish Apple put RSS reading back to Mail. Stupid idea taking it off.

Sure you can read and write at the same time. But normally you would be reading from one place and writing to another place.
I rather regret avoiding the OP's earlier post asking how to combine two classes. I looked at the two classes posted and realized the best thing to do was actually to break them into more classes. But I also realized it was going to be a big job explaining why and how, and I just don't have the patience for that sort of thing.
So now we have a Big Ball Of Tar™ and I feel partly responsible.

• Why is JSTL included with Java WSDP?

Just out of curiosity, why is JSTL bundled with JWDSP? The new JSTL is very slick technology (especially the new EL support), but I don't see any direct applications of JSTL to web services. Since most service implementations aren't Beans (e.g., the accessor methods require arguments), I can't invoke a web service with <jsp:getProperty>, and there's nothing in the JSTL spec that addresses web services.
Mike

Here's the description of the Java WSDP:
The JavaTM Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) is an integrated toolset that in conjunction with the Java platform allows Java developers to build, test and deploy XML applications, Web services, and Web applications.
In other words, the Java WSDP isn't only for Web services.

• Why Was This Thread Censored?

Hi,
I was just wondering if someone could tell me why this innocuous thread was censored.
As you can see, the question concerned a malfunctioning Help Viewer that, based on the description of the problem, I thought needed to be reset. I directed the user to the X Lab's page on troubleshooting the Help Viewer, and I also excerpted from that page the steps necessary to reset the Help Viewer (a small subset of a very lengthy page).
The portion that was excised was the excerpt.
The excerpt wasn't particularly long, only seven itemized steps plus some additional explanatory language. I included it, rather than just referring the OP to the linked Web page, because the OP seemed to me to be a new user -- he/she had registered only yesterday and had a total of two posts so far -- and the X Lab Web page on troubleshooting the Help Viewer is quite extensive, much lengthier than other such troubleshooting pages, and I was concerned that the OP might easily get lost if given only the link.
If I violated any Discussions rule by including the excerpt, I'm unaware of it and would like to know so that I don't unintentionally violate it again.
Thanks for your time.

"Or is that allowed on the boards as long as you declare you are quoting an apple document?"
We do that all the time, no problem. Just clearly indicate that the excerpt is from KB article #xxxxx, you use it to help pointing the info you're giving in your reply.
Anyway that's what you naturally do, to strenghten your point, don't you?
This is just a matter of using other's knowledge in a proper, civil way, giving credits to the author.
Come on, it's worked perfectly until now, between normal, honest, sensible people,
are you sure this too has to become an issue and a political debate???
--> EXAMPLE: (about the eMac PSU)
How do you write "configured for 100-120V AC or 200-240V AC depending on country of use" without quoting, please?
By adding spaces between letters?
Oh God I'm so fed up with those disclaimers (especially those that are used as advertisements but not obviously enough so they still comply with the TOU), please, Apple Discussions are just nice, friendly, technical discussions forums!!
No lawyer needed (yet?) to post a reply, and no KGB either!
Thanks!!

About the so famous "BlankMacHelpthisisacommonproblemjustdeletethisfolderandthesefiles"
question:
Why don't you write your own version like many did already?
You could for example add some spaces to the above...

• Why cant this computer ever read a new application??!?!

whenever I download a new application, for example this time it was a Windows Media Player, it says the document could not be opened. "Script Editor cannot open files in the 'Script Editor Document' format." It says that ALL THE TIME. whats up? what do i need to do?
THANKS!

On any file like that, highlight it, right click on it, or do a Get Info on it, you'll see options, including "Open with...", chose that and select what to open it with.
For instance if it's a ".dmg" file, choose DiskImageMounter...
System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter
, or Disk Utility. You can select the little box that says "Always Open with" to have it work right.
Your DB is messed up is all.

• Why does this applet (with an audio clip) fail to load in a browser?

Hello Java Experts.
I am able to compile and run the applet in an IDE. The problem lies when I attempt to run the applet through a browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.). The entire applet fails to load (in the browser) when it includes code pertaining to audio clips, but works fine when it does not contain audio clip related code.
Here is a Short, Self Contained, Compilable, Example that illustrates my problem:
import javax.swing.*; // Required libraries
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import java.applet.*;
public class Music extends JApplet // Music class is a subclass of the JApplet class
AudioClip music;
public void init ()
music = getAudioClip (getCodeBase (), "sample.wav"); // You may use your own audio file
music.loop();
public void paint (Graphics g)
g.setColor (Color.blue);
g.fillRect (0, 0, 800, 600); // THIS RECTANGLE IS NOT DRAWN (this is my test to see if the applet loads in the browser)
}Please try to run this applet in a browser so that you can point me to my mistake(s).
Thanks for the help in advance.

Here is a Short, Self Contained, Compilable, Example that illustrates my problem:>The 'example' part of it, fails to manifest here. Using that exact code, I was able to see a blue rectangle in both AppletViewer and FF. You might try..
1) Configuring the Java Console to open for applets by default - look in it for error messages.
2) Change the name of the WAV to something that definitely +does not exist+ at the code base. (That would most closely replicate my own testing experience - since there is no WAV available here).

• Microsoft Office Starter is a 32 bit program, why was it sold with my 64 bit Window 7 PC?

I purchased my PC because it came with Microsoft Office 2010 (so said the advertisement). I installed the Microsoft Office Starter as I was prompted. There was no option to select my OS otherwise I would've selected Windows 7 64 bit. I noticed the program
was installed as 32 bit and Word will not print my files. Why would you develop a 32 bit program to be sold on a 64 bit Operating System? Is there a 64 bit version I can download that I'm unaware of?

Hello,
As mentioned in the TechNet article, the 32-bit version of Office 2010 provides the same functionality and is also compatible with 32-bit add-ins. Therefore, the 32-bit version
of Office 2010 is installed by default.
64bit Office has better performance when running a single Excel larger than 2GB and also better performance when using Project files.
For normal use, 32bit Office did provide good performance
and more compatibility with existing
32-bit add-ins.
So, don’t worry about the 32bit or 64bit, go and enjoy Office 2010 new features!

• Why is Mcafee included with the Flash update? I don't appreciate unwanted apps auto installing!

Please remove Mcafee from future updates to Flash. If I wanted or needed Mcafee I would have gone to their site to get it. Now I am wasting precious time complaining about it and also uninstalling it.

When asked to download an Adobe Flash Player update today, I did so and started the application.
I saw that it was also downloading McAffe security software - without my approval. I was never asked to install additional software and I aborted the installation process.
This is absolutely abusive behavior and I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from any company, no matter how widespread their product may be.
I will also be contacting McAfee to let them know that I have a much lower opinion of their company than before for being complicit in this behavior.
It is amoral and should be criminal behavior to sneak additional software onto someone's computer like this. Shame on you, Adobe. This is worse than having opt-in boxes for additional products already checked.
I am disgusted and Adobe should be ashamed - but I'm sure that it is not.
The contact for McAfee Corporate Respnsibility is [email protected]
If you are upset about McAfee, or any other company, being complicit in this behavior, please contact that company and let them know.
