Why when I click on an app it takes a long time to load, like eBay or Pinterest.

When I click on my apps, like Pinterest or eBay, it takes an extremely long time to load. This has just recently started happening and to my knowledge nothing has changed. Safari still appears to be running normally. Can anyone help me?

1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

I always see "connecting" on tabs when I click a link. It takes a long time before the page appears.

When I click on a link on most pages, the word "connecting" appears on the tab, with a small rotating arrow, which stays like that for 20 seconds or so.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When using photos from the "Media" option in Applescripts and other apps, it takes a LONG time to load the photos from iPhoto...

It also happens when using the Media option in programs like iMovie. Has anyone found a solution for this problem?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
If it is...
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots and see if the problem is repeated there.

OK. If you believe that.
When the disk is starting to die it can be bad for a moment and then be good for a while. If there was no problem while you were checking it of course it shows up good.
I tell you those are the signs of a disk that is about to die.

Why does some websites take a long time to load?

so far i have found two websites that takes a very long time to load.
and once they get there very little of the links or anything does not work
they both work on IE but i hate that program and i would like to fix firefox but i do not know where to start

After another restart, firefox has begun throwing errors when starting from terminal. the error reported is:
/opt/kde/bin/skim: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This is printed 5 times, then gives up and firefox loads quickly after. So this appears to be an issue with skim and libpng similar to other problems being reported.
Some research uncovered that skim is no longer supported and is part of my kdemod3 install, however until this update it was working fine under kdemod4.

When i take a picture with my samsung galaxy note edge it takes a long time to focus, like 30 sec to 1 min. Is this normal or is there a problem with my phone? It gets frustrating when trying to take a pic quickly.

It definitely shouldn't be that slow, are you using the stock camera? what mode are you using it in? what other settings do you have setup? try downloading another camera like "a better camera" or any other free one and see if it behaves the same. If it does that tells me that either the lens is really dirty or the hardware may have an issue. Make sure the lens is clean then try either a restart or power down and battery pull and see if that solves anything.

What to do when apple tv purchases take a long time to load?

We have had our Apple Tv for a few months, love it.
However recently some of our purchased (and sometimes just netflix and hulu) take an extra long amount of time to load (4 hours?) Some cases we are quoted 52 hrs?
Very frustrating especially when your acessing content that is "instant".
Our wireless connection has the highest signal strength when checked.
Any ideas?

Signal strength doesn't really tell you much.
Check your actual speed using speedtest.net.
Check for interference using istumbler.net ot netstumbler
Make sure you are using your ISPs DNS (settings - network - configure DNS - automatic)

I clicked on duplicate by mistake. When I clicked cancel, it is "stopping" for a long time? How do I get it to complete the "stopping" so I can shut down the iMac?

I started a "duplicate file process" and decided to stop it. When I pressed the "cancel" button, the program is taking forever to stop. Is there a way to get it to stop, or should I just wait it out?

Premiere Elements 12 takes a long time to load when on a network.

We currently have a user that uses the following version of Premiere Elements 12
Version: 12.1 20140225.12.1.620828
Updater states that everything this up to date.
Laptop is a Lenovo T430 with 8gigs of RAM, 500gig HD, Intel 4000 Video Driver, Windows 7 professional on a domain. 3rd Gen i5 Processor.
When the user is on the network via his docking station, it takes a good 5 minutes before the program launches and appears after clicking on the icon. It takes another 3 to 5 minutes to respond where the cursor is not spinning and you can click on the menu items.
Now, if the laptop is 'Off' the network either in the office or at the users home on wifi but not connected to the network, the program opens and responds with no issues what so ever.
Preferences are set to use and access everything on the C: drive. Is Premiere Elements scanning the network drives for media and if so, is there a way to change that so it doesn't?

In the finder right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, find the folder named import (or importing) and drag it to the desk top. Do NOT make any other changes of any sort. Launch iPhoto and you will Be fine. Open the import(ing) folder and if there are any photos in it you need import them to iPhoto then trash the imoort(ing) folder.

When using installed 3.6.10 version, web pages take a long time to load. No add-ons or plug-ins are used. I have to use version 3.6 if I want to browse with Firefox, Or web pages take FOREVER to load.

OS: Windows 7 pro, updated daily as needed. This is a self built HIGH END computer, with a Quad processor, we'll leave it at that. I have a Cable connection: download speeds 1.5MBs. When I load Firefox 3.6.8 or 3.6.10 version, web pages take several minuets to load if at all. When I reinstall the basic Firefox 3.6 version over the 3.6.10 version, ALL web pages load instantly! I want the increased security of version 3.6.10 Firefox, but it will just NOT RUN on my computer!!

same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
Create a new profile and check it out.

When i turn it on it takes a long time to start up and it freezes in some of the apps so I had to turn it off

Recently when I turn on my mac it takes a long time to start up and at first and in the beginning it appears with a grey screen and at the end it turns blue.
Also it freezes in some of the Apps, so it make me to turn of.

Takes a long time to connect to the internet when I first open an app

I bought my Macbook Pro Retina 13inch last weekend and I love it! Everything was working fine but over the last couple of days, when I first open an app, for example Safari, Google Chrome, iTunes, App Store, anything that requires an internet connection, it takes a long time to load up that first time, but after the first page has been loaded it works again fine until closing the app and re-opening it. When loading the App Store or iTunes it has even said an internet connection is required, even though my connection is fine and the other apps are still loading ok.
I first thought it was my WIFI connection but I have checked my router and everything seems fine, also my iPad and iPhone are still working fine with the internet.
Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer me a solution?

I am getting the same issue, on first starting safari the first page takes an age to load.. once it has everything is fine.
I have tried the 'Reset Safari' function but no difference. This only happens on my Macbook Pro Retina, Using safari on my iphone or ipad is fine. (I connect via ethernet too so its not a wifi problem.)

My four year old Macbook Pro couldn't start yesterday and after going through solutions and all, it worked. But now it's freaking laggy and whenever I want to open an app, it takes a long time or the app will just crash. Any idea how to fix it? I really need the speed and everything back.

so you have an external hard disk, onto which you deleted/moved files from your internal hard disk, so that you now have 143 GB or so free on your internal hard disk — is that correct? Is the external disk purely for backups (e.g. a Time Machine destination), or does it function as a supplement to your internal disk?
Was it entirely your personal data files (documents, photos, movies, music, &c.) which you’d deleted or moved to the external disk, or did you also delete/move apps, libraries, &c. over there?
I’m not familiar with Echofon Lite, so I can’t comment on it, but an Apple-supplied app like the App Store shouldn’t crash.
Have you tried running Disk Utility yet, to see if its verification process gives your disks its seal of approval?
