Why when mixing down video, audio gets panned to left?

I don't know why it happens. I've checked and it's not panned at all before the mix down/render. Any help?

I think it figured it out. If you're doing a stereo project but have the project set to Surround it will mix down with an odd pan to the left. Just an FYI.
I fixed the project properties and now it mixed down with no pan.

Error message when mixing down audio

Hi gang
I occasionally get an error message when mixing down audio on a FCP 5.1.4 project. Message sez: File error: the specified is open and in use by this or another application.
I've never seen this before. No other applications are open at the time this message comes up.

Thanks for your reply. No . . . and if I try a bit later in the project, it seems to render the audio fine. Maybe I'll just trash my prefs and see what happens.

Mix Down the audio just prior to exporting.

What does it mean to "mix Down the audio". I have seen that several times. I have tried to look it up but can't find that phrase.

Playing or Printing to Video back after mixing down requires less CPU power for audio; then CPU has more time for video ...

I have an iMac, Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, OSX 10.7.5, FCPX 10.0.8. I have no third party plugins. First time responding to community. Forgive any protocol errors.
Been working on variety of work projects for months prior to update with no problems. Took time off for a simple new project after updating to 10.0.8. Finished this small (11 minute) new project that is a combination of video and stills, with a few titles and simple transitions. Plays fine within FCPX, however, ran into same problem that started this chain, ie cannot share/export without getting same error message stated above related to a faulty frame.
Tried several share/export Master File settings. Tried moving project (from within FCPX) to another drive which resulted in same error message, but related to other different frames. Tried replacing original data in affected frame with freshly exported replacement files using QTime. Same problem again. Was able to export to Compressor, but resulting ProRes 422 file was so jumpy it wasn't usable.
Tried suggestions of Mark M 98021 and Hank LV, ie, halting all rendering in preferences and deleting render files. After this, I was successful in sharing/exporting at will.
I have several other major projects that I am afraid to return to. I'm not an expert at the inner workings of FCPX and don't have time to keep dealing with this issue. I can leave rendering off, but not a satisfactory solution. Not sure if old rendered files might become infected.
It would seem that there is a problem in the update. I hope this is corrected so I can continue with my work.

Ad Server is playing 2 or 3 ad with a mix of video & audio--Not able to watch shows

So today I was trying to watch Extant and Proof, both times it was taking a while to load, when the ads played it had both audios for 2 ads and a mix of videos, it went on for a few hours. I checked back & then any shows with ads (not the HBO shows) would not load at all, or would ONLY load the most recent. Like I could only sometimes load the "New" Proof, but not the previous episode, it just "loading...." endlessly It seems to be the ad server conflicting with streaming. Go figure. Anyway, it gets so bad that I end up going to the NETWORKS WEBSITE to actually watch the shows -- I am sure your advertisers would LOVE to hear that. Not only are 2 ad jumbling making both completely useless, but you are driving users away from Xfinity site completely. I am able to watch Proof with absolutely no problems whatsoever on TNT's site.

Losing audio when merging separate video & audio tracks. (fcp 5.14)

I am merging separate audio and video tracks. When I go to Modify >Merge, the resultant merged clip is missing the last 25% of the audio track. So it plays correctly and is synched correctly, but the audio just disappears 75% into the video. This shouldn't be the case as the audio takes are all longer than the video takes.
When I pull the audio track into the sequence and sync it up to the video track in the sequence editor, it plays fine. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem, as it has only cropped recently. I've had no problems merging clips by using Modify > Merge before. I tried changing the audio from 44.1 khz to 48.0 khz and back again, but i run into the same problem in both.

Try this ridiculous workaround. I don't know why it works this way.
These "---" are the extra steps.
To get a good merged subclip.
Open the audio file and add the 'in point' to the slate.
---Drag audio clip to the timeline.
---Drag the audio clip from the timeline to the browser window.
Merge with video.
Viola. Audio won't drop out. But the waveforms are completely off with the sound.
Next step is to open the merged clips and Make Subclip so you don't have that extra media in the beginning and end. And the waveform seem normal.

Insufficient Bandwidth when trying for video/audio chat?

When my Dad is away, I like to talk to him on iChat.
When my Dad tries to invite me to a video/audio chat, it comes up with a message, saying: insufficient bandwidth to run this conference.
I have tried altering the bandwidth on Preferences, but it doesn't seem to work!?!?!
Any answers to my question?

MIXING DOWN VIDEO TRACKS

I am ready to out put my project which has multiple video layers. I know I can nest my effect layers but is there a way to mix down all of my layers making one video layer with all of the effects rendered?

Then there's still no need to "mixdown" the video.
For DVD, the best method is to export a self-contained or reference movie (File->Export->QuickTime Movie). Note that if your Sequence isn't already fully rendered, it may take some time. Also make sure you include chapter markers if needed and that you do NOT recompress all frames.
Use the QuickTime Movie in Compressor and choose the appropriate DVD preset.
Once Compressor is done, import the resulting .m2v video file and the .ac3 audio file into DVD-SP for authoring and burning.
For going to tape, fully render the Timeline then then perform a 'Print-to-Video' or just hit record on your DV recorder and hit the space bar on your Mac keyboard (assuming you're working in DV).

When watching videos, audio gets out of sync...

Whenever I watch any type of video with Firefox, the audio and video do not sync. They are fine if I watch them in IE but I hate using IE (so very slow). I have tried updating firefox, but I have the most recent update. I have updated Java and Adobe as well and none of these seem to be the problem. It doesn't matter which website I use, all videos do this when viewed with Firefox.

Why can't I video/audio connect 2 Macs when I can text successfully?

I have been successfully using iChat (5.0.1 + Snow Leopard) for some time. However, a Mac (Leopard) using friend and I can't seem to audio or video between ourselves. We can text though. I see him as available in black in my Recent Buddies list and also see his photo image. He only sees me in grey (although I am available) and in place of my photo image he sees a mobile me cloud.
If I try and audio or video call him it 'waits for response', then says its 'starting a chat' then says there's a 'communication error' and it 'didn't receive a response'. Although I am greyed, he can try and unsuccessfully call me. Also, despite us both having .mac addresses (and he has never used AIM), he appears i my AIM Buddy List?

iChat was developed as an AIM client first and foremost.
This means Apple came to an Agreement with AIM that @Mac.com names and later MobileMe @me.com name are recognised as Valid AIM Screen Names.
It sounds if your Buddy either has the Firewall Blocking iChat (Allow Essentials in Leopard does not work as iChat is Not an Essential App) or he has some setting in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Security that is either not allowing you or is actually Blocking you.
It is possible that his modem does not like Logging in on Port 5190 on the TCP Protocols and getting Buddy List feedback on port 5190 on the UDP Protocol
He should try go to iChat > Preference > Accounts > Server Settings and changing the Port to 443 (He will need to use the Accounts Info Tab first and deselect "Use this Account" to Log out of AIM)

Why doesn't my mic audio get transferred into adobe premiere pro?

So when i open my video clip in windows media player i can here everything perfectly fine but when i import it, i can't hear my own mic audio in adobe premiere pro. Does anyone know how i can resolve this? Thanks in advance.

My experience with Apple's earbuds is that they are pretty good. If you are having a problem with the Audio Technica headphones, you will want to contact them for assistance.
Full disclosure: I wear hearing aids and so I have to listen to audio via headphones or earbuds with the volume jacked up.

Why when powering down Mac does screen darken & prompts me to power down?

Not sure if you can see this or not - but, when I turn my computer off through the apple menu, the screen is suddenly glassed with a dark film and a gray box comes up in the middle of the screen that reads:
"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button"
Then I have to press the power button in order to turn the computer off!!! ANY IDEAS????

Yep that's a kernel panic. That's not good. It usually means something is screwy with the hardware. Do you have Techtool if you bought applecare? It can check the hardware of the computer. Either that or start up from your Leopard DVD hardware test by holding down d at startup. If you hold down c at startup with the DVD you can run disk utility to repair permissions or repair the startup drive.
Have you changed the RAM recently? I recommend you reset the PRAM/SMC just to see if it changes anything. Also, repair disk permissions and verify your startup disk in disk utility.
Reset the SMC by shutting down, taking out the battery, and holding down the power button for 5 seconds. Next, put it all back in and hold down command-option-p-r until it chimes twice at startup.

if you both sharing the same iphone hotspot then I am 99.9% sure that your issue was bandwidth your friends one may have streamed better cause he was probably taking up most of what bandwidth there was and also on mobile phone bandwidth is affected by signal, I know when streaming on my iphone5 (as a hotspot) if I have 4G LTE streaming is mucher smoother than if I have 1 bar of 3G.
