Why will adobe file will no longer open from a website?

On a Macbook using 10.6.8 adobe file used to open from websites and has suddenly stopped opening.

Just to add I had a prolonged discussion with the person on AdobeCare twitter, and they sent me to this page: Error "Licensing has stopped working" | Mac OS
Which didn't help as those are solutions up to Os x.7
And the little license repair software that they advise you to download doesn't work on my system.

I would think that Adobe might want to open their ears to Google's recommended configuration. No? Isn't it about time that Adobe starts listening to their customer base (and Google)? We've been tirelessly asking for responsive design for years.
Regarding: "Adobe Muse works perfectly when it comes to Separate URLs". True ONLY if you can get it to (re)direct correctly. Since they introduced multi device layouts I (and others) have never been able to get the correct version to display on any of my tablets (Archos & Samung Tab 2, 3, 4). The phone site would always show up on the tablet even though the hierarchy for the tablet is: Tablet/Desktop/Phone. Adobe has acknowledged this issue exists and has done nothing to solve it. How again does that help me?

Adobe Elements 8 No longer Opening

I purchased a box set of Adobe Elements 8. I use it on my stand-alone computer. It connects to an online account/gallery where I save my personal images. However, Adobe Elements 8 no longer opens on my computer. Did Adobe somehow cause my Adobe Elements 8 to stop opening when it instituted its new Adobe Cloud products?

At the bottom of the App Store screen is purchased. Tap it, and see if you can install the app from there. Purchased keeps a record of all your apps, free or purchased.

Unable to view pdf documents opened from a website

I'm not able to view pdf documents, e.g. bank statements or tax returns, when opened from a website. If the site offers the option to download, I can do that and have no problem opening the downloaded file and viewing in pdf. The problem is when the pdf file opens in another window, or in a window within a window - then I just get a black screen where the pdf document should be. Has anyone encountered this and fixed it? I've already followed any help I can find online, like making sure pop-up blocker is turned off, and that java, java script are enabled, and downloading most recent adobe acrobat. So far, nothing has worked.

Adobe file will not open

I keep getting errors when trying to open adobe files: There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.
However, the files will open on my iPhone, my iPad and on my PC.
I have a MacBook Pro running OS X Version 10.7.2
This is really frustrating.
Any suggestions?

Linked adobe file will not open in Word 2007

I open a word document (.docm) from a share point site and inside it is a linked adobe file. When I try to launch it, it gives me an error that the file cannot be found, server location not available, etc..
However, if I open Adobe Reader first, then this word document, the linked adobe file opens fine.
Help please.

By default, Adobe Captivate 4, should create a .bak file. Try removing the file suffix .bak, see if you can open the file from this backup.

Why will my macbook pro no longer open pdfs in my browsers?

All of a sudden, I can no longer open pdfs in my browers (Safari and Firefox). I can dowload them to my computer and then open them, but I would like to be able to view them online. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If you are using Safari, make sure that it is fully upgraded because there have been known problems with 5.1

When trying to download a simple Adobe file, Firefox continues to open tab after tab after tab after tab, etc.

Any Adobe file that I want to download causes Firefox to open multiple tabs in rapid succession. I can not stop the multiple tabs from opening except by CTRL-ALT-DEL to then manually close Firefox. Even then Firefox immediately re-opens on its own and continues the multiple tabs until I shut the PC down.

What do you have set for the '''Action''' for those Adobe file types?

Adobe tells me EVERY adobe file I try to open is damaged?

Every time I try to open any adobe files I get an error telling me the files damaged or incompatible. I know these should open as none of my other class mates have issues opening the files.

What is your operating system? Reader version?
Can you open such a PDF file in a text editor, then copy and paste the first few lines here in the forum?

Adobe application manager no longer opens.

I've seen lots of posts about how peoples manager stopped working but when I read the post its about how it wont download. My is down loaded and has worked fine up till a month ago. Now I get icons on my PC that says I have updates and to launch my application manger but it wont open. I tried to uninstall and download again but my PC says I first have to close my desktop application manger. If I could open it I wouldn't need to remove it and try again.

Why does a different version of firefox open from links in emails

I haven't been using Firefox long but have added FVD speed dial and a couple of other things and I find that, if I click on a link in an email or something a plain version of Firefox opens, without any extensions etc. if the normal version isn't already running.
Is there any way to get my usual version to open from links?
I don't know if it makes any difference but I did switch to a portable version from the normal install as I run an SSD as a primary drive and couldn't get enough control over file placement with the normal install version and didn't notice if this happened before I changed over.

Sorry, Firefox Portable can't set as the Default Browser, which is what external links will use.

Files not previewing or opening from external drives

Having some issues after updating my iMac to Mavericks this morning - some files stored on networked drives area not opening, I just get a message saying 'application cannot be found' whenever I open a PDF, JPEG, DOC, AI, PSD ....anything!
The enclosed folders are all visable but the files will not open, either by double clicking on them, dragging onto the relevant application in my toolbar or going through the 'select an application to open this file' options. i get the same message. cover view or thumbnail view just shows blank paper icons.

I've seen a similar behaviour with an external drive. I was able to move any file I'd like into the trash but then it didn't show up in the trash bin in the dock. So I wasn't able to erase those files completely from the disk. I used the Midnight Commander (mc) within a terminal window with superuser rights (sudo mc) and found the deleted files in /Volumes/ExternalHD/.Trashes/501. The problem, I guess, was a wrong owner/group setting of the .Trashes folder on the external drive. I changed them to the same values as the .Trahses folder on my local drive and restarted the Finder. Since then everything is ok. Perhaps you can try the same, but no guarantee, that it will work! Do it on your own risk...!
Before you start, you should remember the actual values of owner/group/permissions of the .Trashes folder, in case you have to go back to the current state, if the following doesn't help. Much better would be a backup of the .Trashes folder of your external HD. Here on my system the owner of .Trashes is "root", group is "staff" and the permissions are "d-wx-wx-wt". You can change the owner/group in the terminal with the command "sudo chown root:staff /Volumes/Your-External-HD/.Trashes" and the permissions with the command "sudo chmod 41333 /Volumes/Your-External-HD/.Trashes". "Your-External-HD" should be replaced by the name of your external drive and you will be asked for your login-password to execute the sudo command. To "activate" the new settings you have to restart the Finder: cmd+alt+esc => select "Finder" press "restart".

Why does paintbrush not work on images opened from Bridge?

This problem may be due to another cause but the most common occurance is when an image is opened from Bridge so I've posted it here. Here are the details.
I have had tons of problems with CS4 on my desktop PC but seem to have most of them resolved with a new video card, updated driver and help from an earlier thread. In fact, I thought all problems solved but this one has persisted. If it matters I'm running Windows XP service pack 3, 4gb of RAM of which 3.4 is available. It has an 2.67 GHz Intel Core2Duo cpu.
If I open CS4 and open an image, all paintbrush tools (paintbrush itself, clone tool, healing tools, etc) work fine. Sometimes I can work for hours with no problems. Other times these tools simply stop working. When this happens seems random. For example, the other day as long as I did not send anything to print, all worked fine but after printing a few images the tools stopped. Other times I've printed and the tools still worked. Sometimes if I open images direct in Photoshop using file -> open, all is well but as soon as I launch an image from Bridge, tools don't work. Other times launching from Bridge works fine, BUT more often than not, it seems to occur after launching from Bridge, hence the post here as I already noted. I've tried to trace down a common set of circumstances but it is too erratic.
What is interesting also is that the use of the tool shows up in the history panel as a step taken. There just is no visible effect on the image. This problem has been present since CS4 was originally installed along with several other problems. In the course of attempting to solve them all, I have deleted preferences and allowed them to rebuild, I have actually uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop multiple times.
More confounding is that CS4 works fine on a clunky old laptop with less RAM and a much, much older video card. I also, as a test, ran the 30 day trial on the computer I'm using here. It too is older and less RAM and that worked fine too. So it seems to be saying there is something wrong with the computer used for photo editing or the video card. Don't think it's the card. I bought a new one. It didn't solve any problems so I bought another and it corrected many of the other issues I was having. Indeed after installing the latest drivers for this card, absolutely everything worked perfectly for almost two days but now this paintbrush tool issue is back.
So what the heck can be going on that is cumulative or is there a hardware component that is erratic or have I missed something in CS4? Man I love the power of the program and the improvements since CS3 but if I have to shut it down and restart it every single image, clearly that is not feasible.

Well, now I'm an idiot. I fired up without the tablet plugged in and
paintbrush worked fine on all files. I then left the image open I had just
painted on, plugged in the tablet with pc still running, no paintbrush
function using tablet mouse. Without unplugging the tablet I again tried
the regular mouse and paintbrush worked fine. So it's not a matter of any
sort of conflict with the tablet being active, it sure looks like a tablet
malfunction. It still mystifies my how this tablet is so smart it can tell
the difference between psd and jpg but there it is...can't argue with
results. Still, one last thing confounds me and that is the tablet works
fine on all file types in CS3 and every other app I have. If there was a
malfunction with the tablet, wouldn't you think it would misbehave on all
apps? Could it be that the tablet needs a new driver? You must've had a
clue to recommend this course of action. Now that we're here, what do you
suggest or should that be another thread?
By the way, if it matters I had already upgraded vc drivers and CS to 11.0.1
before this started.

One imac, two iphones. one account has current itunes, other side will not download current itunes. Downloaded from apple website, did not help. help?

We have one imac, two iphones, two imac/iphone user accounts. My account updated itunes and the phone quite easily. The other side will not update itunes - it shows there is an update available, then says there is not. I tried installing from the apple store. It installed, but did not change the version of itunes active on the computer (we even turned it off and on, a la Windows). SO we synced his phone with my side - it updated the OS, but otherwise restored the phone to factory settings. (he is not happy). So I tried to restore it from a backup on his side just to see what would happen, and of course it can't because the phone's software is more current that his itunes.
So we're in a maddening loop. Factory settings, no updated itunes, no access to the backups.

The feed is fine. The problem lies with the URL for the media files. I checked the latest episode; the file will play in a browser, and as you say on the iTunes Store; but when subscribing there is an error message that the file requires authentication.
This would happen if you had password-protected it, but that would also appear when playing in a browser. The use of PHP or similar to serve the files is asking for trouble - sometimes it works, sometimes it upsets either the Store or subscribing or both. In this case it would seem that either the scripting is throwing iTunes and leading it to believe that a password is required (though it's not bringing up the pane asking for one), or your server is reacting differently to requests from the iTunes application to the way it reacts to requests from the Store or a browser, where the protocol is different.
It's not an iTunes problem. Strictly you should be putting the actual URL of the file in the feed, not a script; and you may need to check your server settings top make sure it allows downloading in iTunes as well as playing elsewhere.
