Why won't my computer play my dvd?
so i was watching a movie and in the middle the movie stopped and said there is not disc in the the drive. i didnt touch the disc drive and i know its not the disc because they are brand new. i just bought them. now i let me computer cool down and it tries to read the disc but gives up. why wont my computer read the disc?

I was writing to -R dvds fine from blank dvds purchased last year. Inserted newer purchase -R dvds and MacPro spits blank dvd back out. Why won't my computer now accept -R blank dvds?
Likely either the batch of media is defective, or the drive itself is not working.
Swap for different media; for a different batch from a different vendor, and also try +R media.
The slot-loading drives on various Mac systems can and variously do fail. If different media doesn't work, then you probably have a failed drive.
If your Mac is of same the vintage as OS X v10.4 that's listed in your footer and you're not in a position to replace or repair the optical drive in your Mac, then you might consider using an external USB CD/DVD device. If you don't have another Mac around to perform the recording on, that is. -

A friend of mine turns out a lot of DVD's for and organization that he does photo work for and he has found
that burning DVD + or - can make a diferance along with the age of the player and he has gone back to
burning them at the slowest speed possible. (people in the organization sends him old pictures that he fixes
then burnes a DVD for them and returnes the pictures and DVD.)

Right click the document and select 'get info'. Check the permissions for the file. If several of these files have the wrong permissions then you may need to repair user permissions. See this for instructions:

Why won't my computer pick up the wireless in my home? All other computers in my home can get the internet.
Turn Off your computer. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your computer. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Why won't my videos play? They start on the device that they are on, then stop and I get an error message...An error occured loading this content. This comes up on all of my computers. I reset the Apple TV to Factory Settings and still get the same message.

Go to About This Mac in the Apple menu.
Click on the Version number in the window that opens. It will change to Build number. What's the build number?
Also, what error message do you see, or any other helping description of what happens when you try to update. -
Why won't my computer's address book sync ALL of my contacts with my iPhone? No MobileMe, no iCloud, just straight from computer to phone. I have checked all the settings and all seems correct. It simply won't pull in all of the contacts. Last time, it added some new ones, but deleted others.

Why won't FireFox 4 play mp3 files that have been created since the FF update? It will play mp3 files created prior to the FF update. All of the mp3 files have been created in the same manner, as bounces from Logic Pro 9. Thank you.

Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
