Why won't OS X Mavericks start downloading when I click the download button? It thinks and acts like it starts downloading with the thinking circle moving then stops and goes away. I have tried going to the purchases in the app store and restarting it there and that is not working either.

Repair permissions, restart your computer & try again.

  • Have previously purchased Lion via APP store and need to download again

    We have recently rolled back our MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard (which came with the laptop) as we have had endless problems with Mavericks in using external hard drives and media servers on our home network. Basically it just does not work with them.
    PLease advise how we can download Mountain Lion again, which we have already purchased.

    Lion is no longer available in the App Store and it is no longer listed in my purchases, it was removed when I did the upgrade to Mavericks.

    Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.  It sounds like you are not able to install an app you purchased from the App Store on your iPhone 5.
    In this case, I would restart your phone and try downloading the application again.  You won't be charged for the application a second time as long as you are using the same Apple ID you used to purchase it the first time.  If you're still having problems, you might want to try the reset of the iPhone.  I found articles with steps for restarting and resetting your iPhone as well as downloading past purchases from the App Store.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Why won't Safari open a web page when I click on it using Windows XP?

    I prefer to use Safari as my primary browser for my Windows XP laptop.  Recently, there has been no response when I click on the browser.  When I click on it, it opens up fine, but it does not pull the Apple Home Page, or any other web pages.  It seems to be lag, but nothing happens even after refreshing the browser, clearing the cache and history, resetting it, repairing it, and even removing and reinstalling it.  I have deleted any third party applications that may be affecting it, and I downloaded and installed the most current version of Safari.  I can surf the web fine with other browsers.  I do not get any error messages, it just stays in "thinking mode".  I've even tried using it in Safari's safe mode, only to have the same results.
    I've checked for viruses and malware -- none found, and my Internet Security (Kaspersky) is up-to-date, and has never been an issue before.  A system restore did not even fix the problem.  I've run out of options, and was recommended by Apple to join this community for further assitance, and hopefully a resolution.

    Create a new Windows User account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
    Try launching Safari in the new account. Does it launch there, or do you get the same sort of behavior as in the usual account?
    I did exactly that, and the same thing happened, only this time, the toolbar was missing (File, Edit, View, etc. options).  The URL still showed up, but still stuck in "thinking mode."  Same thing happened when I tried a search in the search bar.
    This is not how I intented to spend my Thanksgiving!

    I'm not exactly sure what you are seeing and what is happening, but try closing the App Store app, and then reset the iPad. See if that takes you out of that screen and allows you to navigate freely again.
    Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the App Store app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Purchased apps on iPad, but only a handful appear in purchased section of app store, and I can't get them on my other devices.

    I bought a ton of apps on my iPad (First generation), and when I upgraded to an iPad 2 (currently running ios 8.1.2), I was able to re-download those apps and purchase new ones using my same appleID.  However, now, when I go to the purchased section of the app store (both on my iPad and on my Macbook Pro) again using my same appleID, the only purchases showing are ones that I made after I upgraded to the iPad 2 (in Feb 2014). Nothing previously purchased shows up in that section. So now, when I try to use family sharing or even just download my early purchases onto a new device using my own appleID, I can't. The app store just prompts me to purchase the apps as if I never bought them before.
    So, for example, I have minecraft pe on my iPad (it's still there and works fine, and it's the latest version 0.10.4). A few months ago, I was able to put it onto a new device (my brother's) using my appleID. He then deleted it off his iPad, but now wants to re-download it. Since we're on family sharing, he tried going to the purchased section of the app store under my name, but it wasn't there. When I looked on my own iPad in the purchased section, it wasn't there either. When I signed into his iPad with my appleID, and searched for the app in the store, it prompted me to purchase the app for $6.99 instead of offering to download it from iCloud, like it used to do. I've checked on my Macbook, and, there too, it doesn't show up in the purchased section. I don't have any hidden apps, so I couldn't 'unhide' it either.
    At some point, I'm sure I'll upgrade my device, and I'd like to know that all my apps (including minecraft) can be downloaded - especially since I've been using the same appleID for all my purchases. Is there something I'm missing? Any help on how to get access to those apps that I've already bought onto new devices? I'd rather not have to re-purchase everything.

    If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely.     I am currently getting away from Hotmail. I have two Apple IDs : one linked to my old Hotmail address, and one linked to my new iCloud address.
    I wish to transfer my purchases from my old account to my new one and delete my old account, for both iTunes and the Mac App Store. I have Apps, music and videos spread on my 3 Macs and my iPhone.
    Is there any way to do this ? I read that it's an impossible mountain of work for Apple to include a merge account feature, so if they can't do it as they should, I will do it by myself.

    PS : I have all the latest software and OSes available.

    You cannot move purchases from one account to another. (Of course most songs bought recently in iTunes aren't protected, so this doesn't apply to them.)
    You may be able to pay a small extra amount to un-protect older purchases - click on 'iTunes Plus' in the right sidebar. You can't do this with apps, though.

    Do your children have separate user accounts on the shared mac? They can have their own user accounts with their own AppleIDs, but you could put the iTunes Library into a shared folder, or better an external drive with the ignore ownership option set.
