Why won't the raw files from my new Nikon D810 open in ACR?
I just shot a newborn session on my brand new Nikon D810 and my RAW files will not open in ACR or CC or PSE. Everything is up to date. This is my first time using the new camera and the photos are for a paying client. Am I screwed until the new ACR updates are released? Or is there some magic fix until then? I'm panicking!
Every new camera comes with its own specific Raw file format and Adobe must add support to Camera Raw for each individual camera released on the market. There's often a time lag between the camera shipping and Raw support being added to Camera Raw.
Lots of D810s are now in circulation (dozens of D810 Raw support requests have popped up in these forums recently) and Raw support from Adobe is imminent but not yet final.
D810 support has just been added to the yet-to-be-released Camera Raw 8.6.
Adobe has made the Release Candidate version (a kind of post-beta, pre release) available for further testing prior to final release.
Download Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 8.6 Beta - Adobe Labs
Install manually but use at your own risk until final release.

Aperture refuse to open the RAW files from my new Nikon D7100.
Aperture refuse to open the RAW files from my new Nikon D7100. What can I do? Thanks for help!
the raw support of new cameras will be made with a Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update not with a aperture update. But when the new RAW- Update will arrive is not sure.
And that usually can only be installed with newer Aperture versions. You cannot use the latest raw support with Aperture 3.2.4, unless you are able to update to Aperture 3.4. And earlier raw support versions cannot be used with Aperture 2.
See the footnotes on the Raw Support page http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html. That is why asked for the Aperture version.
** Requires Aperture 3 or later.

I can't open the RAW files from my new Nikon D4s camera in photoshop? How do I download the latest software for RAW files? Cheers!
What version of Photoshop are you running? You will need at CS5, CS6, CC or CC2014. Each version needs a different ACR-plug-in to open files from that camera.
If you are on CS4 or earlier, you'll need to upgrade—or, in the alternative; look for, download, instal, launch and run the free, stand-alone DNG Converter 8.6 on each file of raw NEF files to convert them to raw DNGs first so you can open them in your version of Photoshop and ACR plug-in higher than 2.4. -
I can't open the RAW files from my new Nikon D610 in PSE10. Any help for this?
I recently purchased a Nikon D610. I have PSE 10. I can't open my RAW files now and I always shoot in RAW. I've tried everything, but still can't open m,y files in the RAW format. Any help??????
Your most direct choices are:
1) Use the free Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 to create Adobe-DNG raws from your Nikon D610 NEF raws. These DNGs will open in your older Elements Camera Raw plug-in. Be sure to set the ACR compatibly options in the DNGC to support whatever version of ACR you’re using.
2) Buy PSE12, and first download the trial version to make sure your computer can run it properly.
Adobe only adds new camera support to whatever the current versions of their software, and PSE12 was the current version of Elements when the D610 support was added. PSE10 won’t be updated.
Also be sure that you are NOT using the old Nikon Transfer or ViewNX with your new Nikon camera. These older versions of Nikon products change something in the metadata of new camera NEFs that makes them unrecognizable to Adobe software. -
Aperture3 won't open raw files from my new nikon D5100
Aperture3 won't open raw files from my new nikon D5100. It worked fine with my D40, but when I got the D5100 it wouldn't open the raw files from it. Is there an update for it?

Cs5 RAW files from my new nikon D600
is there a cs5 camera RAW update so that i can open my RAW files from my new nikon D600
No. RAW support is version specific. Refer to this:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
You might consider upgrading to CS6. In the menatime you can always use the free DNG converter.

Apperture doesn't read the RAW files from my new Camera
Hi, Apperture doesn't read the RAW files downloaded from my new Camera Fujifilm X-S1. What options do I have to work with .RAF (Fujifilm RAW)?
I was thinking about using RAW Converter PRO but it cannot upload the full information contained into the RAF file. Maybe there is another Program I can use until Aperture includes my camera in its DB.
Greats!I've been a loyal Apple user for 20 years and have been using Aperture for the last 2 years. The X-pro came out a YEAR ago and still no x-trans sensor support and yet Lightroom by Adobe and Capture One now has RAW support.I've had to switch to the Lightroom trial as I have a busy studio in hope that Apple might bother with me but again no reply to my emails.
If I have to purchase Lightroom I will probably not come back to Aperture which is a shame
Apple seem to have got too big for good customer service these days unless it's an iPhone or iPad

However, it opens camera raw files from my D300 without problems.
Same for Bridge: NEF files are displayed as generic thumbs.
Can anyone help me?I don't use the Nikon software, but I believe that the latest version of Nikon Transfer works fine. I think it comes with ViewNX2, which is a free download, AFAIK.
I personally download my photos using a card reader and Adobe Bridge (which comes with Photoshop, and contains Adobe Photodownloader). Not sure, but I think it's included with Lightroom & Elements too (but I don't use those either). Using Photodownloader has the added advantage of being able to add metadata at the same time. -

Aperature can't read RAW files from my new Nikon D800. Help?
My Aperature is version 3.2.4 and I have done all the software updates. I shoot in both JPEG and RAW, but aperature can only read the JPEG's. Can anyone help?
The Nikon D800 raw support was included in "digital camera raw update 3.11", and that is the only one that I cannot find online any longer.
The raw support for Nikon D800 has now been moved directly into the latest MacOS X Releases - for MacOS X 10.7 it is built into MacOS X 10.7.4 or later, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757
and for Mt. Lion it is included in all releases, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
But according to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825, if you are still using Snow Leopard, you will need the raw support from "digital camera raw update 3.11". What is the latest raw support you installed?

Why Won't my Raw files from my Nikon D5300 open in CS4?
I recently got a new Nikon D5300 and shot in raw for the first time today. When I tried to view the images with photoshop CS4, a pop up window appeared stating that photoshop does not recognize that type of file, and therefore cannot be opened. Is this a compatibility issue of photoshop vs. camera files or something else? As a portrait photographer I shoot in RAW 90% of the time so I'm very desperate to get this resolved.
Yes, it's the never-ending struggle of software keeping up with hardware (cameras) and the eternal compatibility issues between them. Forces users into a never ending upgrade cycle to keep up.
Camera manufacturers use proprietary Raw files which are specific to each and every camera they make. Every camera is different. So Adobe has to retrospectively add support to the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plugin for each Raw file format on a camera by camera basis after the camera has been released to market.
The D5300 was first supported in Camera Raw 8.3
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
ACR8.3 is compatible with CS6 and newer. It is not compatible with CS4 and never will be.

I bought a new camera (Canon T5i) and took photos in RAW, tried to open them in PSE9 and they wouldn't open. I got the following error...
Canon RAW Codec found a new CR2 file that is not supported by the installed version.
You can download the Canon RAW Codec update program from the link below.
(Canon Server)
I have been to the link & downloaded what update it had. I have also done the available updates on my PSE9 and I am still getting this error messge. When I called Canon regarding this they said I needed to contact Adobe.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong or not doing so I can open these files???The T5 is supported by Camera RAW 8.4 which needs PSE12. You can use the Canon software to convert RAW to TIF or the Adobe DNG Converter. The converter will convert the CR2 files to Adobes RAW DNG format that will open in PSE9's RAW processor. http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html#downloads.

My iPhoto won't recognise raw files from my new camera
... (it still recognises them from the old camera). The specs are different and I've upgraded iPhoto to the latest list of supported cameras. Any ideas? Thanks, Lee
The Raw on that camera simply isn't on the supported list:
iPhoto Menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and let them know you want it supported.
I would expect the DNG to be accessible though, but I'm not terribly familiar with the format. I would google around a bit. IIRC there are variations within the DNG format - linear/non-linear or something like that - one of which will work with iPhoto and Aperture. -
I just upgraded to the latest operating system AND Aperture software program so I could import raw files from the Nikon D610, but the files are still being imported as unsupported image format. Is there a setting that I need to set to get this to work? I can't believe I spent all day upgrading the operating system and then my old version of Aperture, only to find out it still won't support the raw files from my new camera. Anyone else having this problem?
