Wi-Fi not working on MSI GT60

Hello All,
For last two weeks, wi-fi has not been working on my windows 8 machine. Wi-Fi switch is a software based switch on my machine. It is ON when I start the machine. But it does not list any wi-fi networks (I know the existence of the networks as I am successfully getting connected to those networks using my other devices). If I switch off the wi-fi, I cannot turn it on unless I restart the machine. The problem persists in my house as well as my office. We don't have any technical person in the office as I work for an NGO.
I don't know whether it is the windows update or installing Intel PRO wireless suite.
Here are the things I have tried:
Uninstalling PRO wireless software
Rolling back to previous version of the driver
Uninstalling the device using device manager
Just updating the driver to the latest version from Intel's website
Uninstalled all the windows updates of last two weeks
Changing the power setting to keep the wi-fi on and under maximum performance
I don't know how to solve this problem. I am using wired connection for last two weeks.
My machine is - MSI Computer Corp. Notebook GT60 0NC-004US;9S7-16F311-004 15.6-Inch Laptop
Operating System: Window 8 Pro 64 bit
Wi-Fi Card: Intel n 2230

Oh, thanks for letting me know about the warranty thing.
I will try to source a wi-fi adapter locally and see whether that is the issue. If is it something else, then the repair might cost more than expect and it would be good to claim it under warranty.
Can I replace it with a better adapter? What other wi-fi adapters are compatible with the same slot as that of Intel Cetrino Wireless N 2230?
Thanks for your patience and time in helping me with my queries.
Regards,
Sharada
The 2230 should only have 2 antennas. You can pretty much replace it with any other mini PCI wifi adapter, but obviously if you get one with 3 antennas, you'll be missing an antenna adapter to connect. That's really the biggest issue. If it was me, I'd just get another 2230. They only run about $30USD to get, and I'm sure that they'll be just as cheap anywhere else (check ebay).

  • Headphone and other audio jacks not working on msi GT 70

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the headphone jack isn't working properly on my new laptop.  When I plug them in it only works in one ear and the onboard speakers still play.  Also nothing pops up from realtek when I plug them in.  I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of realtek.
I have been having a heck of a time with the graphics cards.  It will not default to the Nvidia GTX 670MX when I am in a program such as adobe premiere pro or photoshop.  I went into Nvidia and changed the certain programs that I wanted to run the Nvidia card - still wont run off of it.  I changed the global setting to Nvidia - still nothing.  Finally I just disabled the intel driver in the device manager.  It works fine now except exported video is very glitchy on the players.  It plays the videos fine when I enable the intel driver again.
I guess I can live with the graphics card problems, but can't live without the headphones working.  Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

be sure everybody has same problem https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=180629.0 or https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=180690.0 I found a way if you had new nvidia driver delete nvidia sound driver after delete your msi sound driver after reboot , install your msi sound driver it will be normal but if not try first msi driver after nvidia with beta or new sound driver if still not use realtek new drivers but dont forget delete nvidia sound driver , but you should always repeat it , msi couldnt fix this problem just offer to use old driver and old nvidia driver

  • Secure boot not working with MSI Z77a-G45 And system reserve not showing

Ok so i re did my windows after i did a zero fill on my hard drive as it was showing a corrupted sector on my disk that seemed to fix it for now, until it comes back if it does crossing my fingers it gone for good. But now i can't seem to get Secure boot to work i mean i did not have it before as i just slapped the motherboard in with a existing windows, that was to be expected but this is a clean install of windows 8.1 and i even have secure boot on but its not working and reports as off in windows.  Is it because i have my bios set to legacy+UEFI??? would that make secure boot not work??. i even went as far as turning it off and back on again the secure boot setting nothing made a difference.  I mean its not a big deal bit would be nice to know why its not working, also another wired thing and i will post pictures of it, as i cant see my system reserved partition in disk management but diskpart says it there, i will post those pictures any ideas??.

fixed it is my legacy+uefi another forum got back to me.

  • UTF-8 encoding not working in MSIE

We're in the process of migrating to Sun Web Server 6.1 2005Q4 SP5 from iPlanet 4.1. The Unicode encoding in JSPs for special characters rendered correctly in browsers with iPlanet 4.1. But in 6.1, I had to add this directive to obj.conf for it to work in Netscape 8 (Firefox engine):
ObjectType fn="set-default-type" charset="utf-8"However, MSIE still doesn't render the special characters correctly.
I tried the suggestions in http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=16&threadID=48171

  • MSI Gaming G Series Mouse not working with MSI GS70 2QE Stealth Pro

    Hi,
since i bought this notebook I had different troubles with this mouse (included with the notebook)
The mouse often stutters, lags, goes in idle not only in games but also in Windows 8, causing playing FPS being impossible. The pop-up "USB Device Not Recognized" appers sometimes, such as the sound you hear when you plug/unplug any usb device. All latest drivers have been already installed.
I tried to use another mouse and it works perfectly on the GS70. Same time I tried the gaming mouse on another PC and it works perfectly too. So, it's the combination "Gaming Mouse + GS70" that won't work at all.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English.

Maybe uninstall and reinstall the drivers without the mouse connected? Are you using a USB hub? I had problems similar to what your describing with a MSI mouse while using a hub, before.

  • Fn touchpad Disable/enable not working on Msi GE70 20E

I recently got a MSI GE70 2OE 011NE with Windows 8, when i got it the Fn key wasnt working properly, some of the shortcuts worked, but to disable/enable touchpad didnt, i then downloaded the touchpad driver from this website, and then it worked.. then i updated to windows 8.1.. and after that once again it didnt work, but now it seems like the fn key doesnt work at all.. and my touchpad was disabled when i updated, wich means i cannot enable the touchpad again now.
i tried both touchpad drivers from this site, for both win 8 and win 8.1, wich didnt work.
What can i do to make the fn key work ?
update: apparantly some of the fn short cuts works.. for ie. sound, brightness and backlight keyboard brightness.. just not the enable/disable touchpad :(

Try doing the EC reset procedure....
    1. Turn notebook off.
    2. Remove AC adapter.
    3. Remove battery.
    4. Let the notebook sit there for about 20 minutes.
    5. Come back, insert battery.
    6. Add AC adapter.
    7. Power on and see if its working now.

  • Flash Player will not work even upon reinstalling it

    Hello!
I am having quite the time trying to get Adobe Flash Player
to work! Seemingly "out of nowhere", none of the youtube videos of
my nephew were visible on the site any longer, when they had
previously been working just fine. When I went to the page, using
IE7, there was a blank spot where the video should be. However, at
that time, I *was* able to view the video using FireFox. I thought
this was unusual that it would work in Firefox but no longer be
    working in IE7.
I checked to see if javascript was turned on in both browsers
    -- it was. I have javascript enabled in Firefox2 (tools/ options/
content/ enable javascript; under advanced settings "disable or
replace context menus" is checked, although I don't know if this
    applies), and in IE7 (tools/ options/ security/ custom Level/
    scripting/ active scripting/ enable).
Since this didn't seem to be the problem, the only thing I
could think of doing was to uninstall Flash Player. In my Add or
Remove Programs, I saw Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and Adobe Flash
Player Plug-In. I went to Adobe's site, and found a document
entitled "How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in and
ActiveX control", which said you need to use an Adobe program for
the uninstall, which I did. I then rebooted the computer. Next I
installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX.
When I viewed the youtube videos, they now showed just fine
    in both IE7 and Firefox.
I closed down the computer and went to bed happy it was
    fixed.
The next morning, upon startup, I was dismayed to find that
the problem had started all over again, although now the video was
no longer viewable in *either* IE7 or Firefox.
In Firefox, I see the message "Hello, you either have
JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.
Get the latest Flash player." In IE7, I see no message; just a
    blank spot.
Again I double-checked that javascript was turned on in both.
I double-checked my Add or Remove Programs, and I can see the
Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX was installed. (And I knew it to be
working before I shut the computer down.)
I feel like I am going bananas.
Does anyone know what could be going on? Might you have any
insight as to why it would first stop working in one browser, work
in both browsers upon reinstalling it but before turning off the
computer, and then not work in either browser upon starting up the
    computer again?
Thank you so much! I just appreciate your help more than I
    can say!
    Happy day to you!
    Karen

Thanks.  This worked for me, too.
And this is what I used to do the uninstall, so I could re-install from the webpage:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
I placed this .exe file in this install directory . . .
    {C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash}
. . . along with a ReadMe file that contained this notation:
    <uninstall_flash_player.exe> was obtained manually from:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
...and not installed in this directory as part of the Flashplayer install.
This was obtained as part of an attempt to correct Flashplayer suddenly not working in MSIE.
Correcting this problem involved unistalling and re-installing Flash, but uninstalling via the normal Pgm.Accs+Dflts facility did not seem to work correctly; i.e., the subsequent re-intall failed to correct the problem: even though the download webpage indicated a successful install, the Flash animation did not appear. However, using the above .exe file does allow a truly successful subsequent re-install.

A new problem with MSI K9N Neo V3 MB...
I just found out that Front audio panel is not working (no mic, no line out). I checked the cable 3 times. Seems to be OK. Front panel was working on a previous ASUS motherboard.
    - All drivers according to vista are working fine.
    - Back panel sound (eveything) is working fine.
    - Sound panel says that front panel mic & line-out are not plugged in.
Is there a switch to turn this on? Or maybe some special driver?
Or it is just useless, and working on MB package advertisment only?

  • Not getting enough performance out of Msi GT60 0NC

Hello there guys! Since I've got my laptop I have been getting the feeling that I am not getting enough power out of my toy. I dont know if its me who have too big expectations about this laptop or it really should be performing better?:( I have done hours of research regarding drivers, graphic setup and not at least overclocking which seems to raise the performance quite a bit but it easily gets unstable. I am using Msi's preinstalled drivers as it seems like they give the best performance so far. I have also installed the modded Firmware from https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162629.0 which works better than the original one from Msi. But still, i hear a lot of people playing demanding games on ultra with fps around 50-60. In bf3 I get around 40-60 on High with shadow on medium and post processing off, anti-aliasing off. Turbo is on + overclock. The performance in Gw2 is even worse.
So here is my question: am I expecting too much from the laptop or can I do something to improve it and make it run like a charm? Another question would be if it is possible to change powervoltage to get a higher overclock?
I would very much like to hear from u guys how your msi gt60 is performing:)
    Best regards, Mathias Kanstrup

Same here, Gt70 0NE + 680M; overclocking GPU core causes clockdowns so gains are minimal. Overclocking memory is successful upto about 2500MHz but gains are small as the memory isn't the restricting factor in preformance - or the effect is just minuscule. So mostly 2 to 8 % in benchmarks, max.
With extreme air cooling and a modified VBios, it's possible to get up to around 15%......I know this first hand.
I just don't care to do it since there's little point in pushing the hardware that hard regularly. Yes, it's great for bragging rights, but it's not useful for long term use unfortunately.
Overclocking the memory in the GTX675M might help a bit more than in the 680M. I'm not sure, I haven't really followed up on the other cards.

  • GT60 0D-092UK Left hand keyboard section LED's not working

    Hello,
I have just got a new GT60 and the left hand section of the 3 LED sections is not the lighting. The middle and  right sections both light and the color can be changed via KLM. Has anybody had this problem and is there a way to fix it as I don't want to go through the hassle of RMA'ing it. Thanks.

I tried to install older versions of KLM and SCM:
    -Klm older version alone
    -Scm older version alone
    -Klm+scm older version
    -Klm new version+Scm old version
    -Scm new version+Klm old version
    -Scm+Klm new version
    -Scm new version alone
    -Klm new version alone
Tried this with 3 different versions it's 24 combination of drivers.
    No-th-ing works.
I browsed like 150 forum pages last 3 hours and many people have issues with their touchkeys. A few only are solved: on some old msi models it's a wire beneath the battery that is not correctly pluged in. It seems like there's a real problem with these keys.
-Now I'm pretty sure it's not a driver problem (because if it is, it must be sth crazy because i tried every single driver msi ever released)
-I'm pretty sure it's not an hardware problem (it worked once and if it is fk me)
-> I tend to think it's a firmware issue and I'm currently searching for some information, it makes me a little bit nervous because I don't want to mess up my entire computer by reinstalling firmware.
And I have a special request: If someone has an msi gt60 where these touchkeys are working fine, could he watch in :\computer there must be some hard disks and some partition. There must be a sata and a ssd depending and wich spec you have and a partition named system or something like this. Does it contain something about touchkeys driver? Because even with no OS installed I had this partition on my SSD and I think there's maybe something to do with these touchkeys. Sadly I erased it for an OS clean install.
I also wrote a ticket for the msi support but they seem not really stressed to help me
If someone has a genius idea, then he shall speak!
