Wierd Apple TV Connection issue.....

AppleTV will connect to iTunes wirelessly via airport extreme, but will not connect via ethernet. Have disabled firewalls, updated everything, disabled/renabled search for appletv in itunes, rebooted everything - no sign of appletv when ethernet plugged in - but appletv will show up when unplug ethernet cable. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Thanks for quick response. I should have mentioned that Appletv shows up on my tv when ethernet cable is connected and I can then see movies, videos, etc, so I don't think it is a cable issue. In other words, when I use can ethernet cable I can to connect to the Internet, but not to my computer that hosts itunes.

  • Apple TV connectivity issues

Hi, I have just purchased one of the third generation Apple TV's and connected it to my home netowork, I have a new Macbook Air running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8. As soon as I connected my laptop to my home network via wi-fi I will get a prompt to enter my Apple TV password, if I cancel this the prompt will continue to pop up every so often. If I do enter the password and then open the display preferences tab I cannot change the Apple TV mirroring tab to indicate that Apple TV is selected - the laptop screen is however mirrored on a network connected TV.
Another issue is that when both the Apple TV and laptop are connected to the network any audio from the laptop is directed towards Apple TV - whether or not the password has been entered. To over come this I have to enter the display preferences and toggle Airplay mirroring between Apple TV and Off (as explained, Off always remained checked whether Apple TV isactually working or not).
The Appe TV and the Network connection appear to be fine as both my iPhone and iPod will connect as disconnect as they should. Has anyone else had similar problems with Mountain Lion, if so any suggestions as to how to fix this issue would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Jason,
I have been beating my head against a wall for some time now on Apple TV issues.  After replacements, swapping ATVs between rooms, I finally deduced it was NOT my Apple TV, Router, or iMac.... my wireless sound bar is to blame.
I only came to this conclusion last night (late at night).  I had just gotten the ATV replaced by Apple.  Worked great for a day and then would not work at all. I would browse the library, and it would attempt to playback, but would endless buffer some movies, while it would eventually play others.  MOvies from iCloud were very erratic and the really odd thing is Netflix and Hulu would work every time, HD or SD.
My Router is an AirPort Extreme and I tried setting up a 5GHZ network and that didnt eliminate the issue.  I am somewhat thinking its wireless interference because the Apple TV that was in my living room would stream fine over WiFi and Ethernet, but would not stream in my bedroom.  Also both AppleTVs (the one I bought and the replacement I got) for the bedroom would play back just fine over ethernet.  It just would not over WiFi.  So I am fairly certain it is wireless interference of some sort from the soundbar/sub.
I still have a ways to go.  BUt you may look around the room and consider other devices that may be causing you a similar issue.  It was a stroke of luck that I decided to shut off my soundbar and see if that was the cause.  Turns out it is.  I just dont know what to do about it, aside from running another ethernet line into my bedroom.  Which also means I need to add a switch to my network to add the ethernet ports, which ***** as it may cause me other network issues such as routing, NATing, IP conflicts, etc....

  • Airport Extreme / Apple TV Connectivity issue -HELP!!

I am able to enter my WEP password on the Apple TV, and it connects to my wireless network. But, the next day, it doesn't show up in my list of devices on iTunes. I look at the setings on the apple TV, and it says I am not connected to network, and I have to enter password again. What setting do I need to adjust on the Airport Extreme or the Apple TV?

I have the same issue. Wish I could help.... It is ridiculously annoying to have to put in the password every day, yet it is all I can do!
I dont understand... even if it drops the connection to the TC, why cant it reconnect on its own like computers do?

  • Apple tv connectivity issues.  No signal

I looked around here, so forgive me in advance if I missed it.
Apple tv is awesome, but now its not working.  I think someone in my house clicked OK when ATV required us to update, but I seem to remember it working after that.
We have a Sharp Aquos 40".  We use the Harmony remote.  The light on the ATV box is lit, all of the connections are the same as before, but we are not getting a signal.  The tv is set to HDMI output 4 and the dpi is 1080.  The reciever is a Yamaha RX-V671, and its set to "HDMI 2".
I'm a bit reticent to start changing settings before I check here as this is a bit beyond my scope of knowledge.  (we call the geek squad now and then when things go haywire).
Also, its an gen 1.  I looked at the serial # when checking into support, and i was told that this product is no longer supported.  eesh.  Again before I get someone on the phone, I'm checking here...
    Thanks
    Al

  • Apple Configurator Connection Issues with iPad 2s

I work at a public library that checks out iPad 2s. We have ten of them and use Apple Configurator 1.2.1 to keep them all on the same page. For some reason, though, we're now having some trouble with it.
All ten iPads lose their connection after being put into the Supervisor Mode. Sometimes the error is "internet error" and sometimes it's that the apps won't install. We've scaled back on the apps to the ones that are known good.
We're using iOS 6.1.2. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often help wireless connections. When the Homehub is resetting, "forget" the connection to the homehub on your ipad then restart the ipad and once it has restarted, remake the connection to the homehub.

  • Apple TV connection issue

I have an older TV and want to connect an AppleTV box to it, however there isn't an HDMI connection on the television.  Is there a convertor that I can use or a different type of cable?

HDMI is the only method supported. There are converters but there is no guarantee it will work.

  • Apple TV and Drop Outs, Connection Issues

I use AppleTV to mirror my ipad 2. it's great. Love it Then I'll try it again and it may work but often the icon disappears. I then clear the password then re-enter it and that will bring it back or if that doesn't work I may have to shut down my ipad 2 at least once.
This happens almost every second or third time I try to use it.
I currently have an iphone 4s, ipad2, ipod touch and as someone has said before, this is the first time I've been deeply disappointed in an Apple product. I expect glitches every now and then but this continual drop out and connection issues I have is beyond the joke.
Does anyone have any solutions. Yes I have done all the updates, yes I am on the same network, yes airplay is turned on, yes home sharing is enabled.
As you can see I am peeved!

I too am having the same problem. I have a MB Pro running OS X 10.9.4 cannot see AirPlay option. Any solutions out there? Tried AirParrot but it is spotty at best.

  • Apple TV 2nd Wifi Connectivity issues

My apple TV keeps loosing it internet connection. Everyday when it turn it on I have to re connect to my network, its like it forgets it, but at the same time it say's its already connect. It gets a 169 IP address, and I have to go through the wifi setup again. Sometime this happens after watching pod casts, youtube, or netflix. If I am watching it, it will still show it has a 192 address and connected to my netgear router, but will not connect until I re do the network setup. I have 6 other wireless devices connected to my wifi and and 3 wired devices. I have rest my router to factory defaults once all ready, reset the apple tv also,  tried only letting the apple tv connect by it self, tried changing the channels, tried basic encryption, currently its on wpa2. my router is a dual band wireless n router. Any help with this problem would be greately appreciated as I am out of ideas to try.

Interference can come from various sources and yes cordless phones are a common source of interference, interference can also come from neighbouring networks.
Generally speaking moving channels can help avoid conflicts caused by neighbouring networks, but may be less effective against interference from cordless phones and microwaves etc which may cover more channels than a wifi network.
If your AP supports it you could also try the 5 Ghz wifi channels which are less prone to that sort of interference.
Interference is not going to be the source of everyones problems but it seems to be a very significant factor for many, so I feel it's probably a good starting point and at least in cases where it isn't a problem it does eliminate it.
There is free software available that can help you look for neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but such software won't detect non network originated interference.

  • Connection doctor and connection issues

I have nothing blocking  my internet connection, however mail is a nightmare for me. I continually receive connection issues via the connection doctor for imaps, pops, and icloud.
Are my settings wrong? I have checked with each of the settings and they are set per instructions provided. Some are google, some yahoo, icloud, etc.
This is really annoying and I could really use some help.
Here is a typical message: Could not connect to this Google IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the 'Use SSL" checkbox in the Advanced tab of Account Preference"
I have done all of this and am still having troubles.
I am also receiving SMTP connection issues - "Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. Verufy that the username and password are correct."
I have checked and all are correct. Even more confusing, these issues are not present all the time - however I have not changed anything between when times are good and bad.
Sigh - I hope someone has an idea to help me out.
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts.

  • My brand new mac pro always had Internet connection issues at school. WHY is that? I see the school's Internet working perfectly fine on other PC's, but there is never a day where my mac doesn't have Internet connection issues at school. How do I fix it?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?

    Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input.  I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy.  I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
    Nathan.

  • Connection issues with Safari 3

I'm having some connection issues with Safari 3.
When I connect wirelessly, Safari won't load any web pages. I go and use Firefox and everything is just peachy.
I've reset Safari, emptied the cache and whatnot. I went in and checked the permissions, everything checks out.
When I connect with Ethernet, there's nothing wrong, which is my dilemma.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of posts in the Leopard forum from people with direct experience with upgrading from Panther to Leopard. Here is a relevant thread from there that should reassure you.:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1418714
Your system should be fine for Leopard, but you will probably need a current version of Photoshop if you don't already have it. See this download:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/products/pdfs/leopardsupport.pdf
Also, Leopard doesn't run Classic (OS 9) apps.
One caveat - first make a bootable backup "clone" of your present system onto an external firewire drive so you can recover if anything goes wrong. You can use the "Restore" tab of Disk Utility to make such a clone, and there are also Panther-compatible versions of Carbon Copy Cloner (v 2.3) and SuperDuper (v 2.1.4), both excellent for this.
It's even possible to a create second Panther clone on a different external volume to create a "dual-boot" system, using that volume to continue to run old applications that you can't run with Leopard.

  • Macbook air Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter connectivity issues

    Hi pple,
Would like to ask if anyone is facing connectivity issues with Mini DisplayPort to VGA?
I am currently using the 2nd Gen Macbook Air with Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. Sometimes when I connect to a montior (Viewsonic VA1918wm) it works fine, sometimes it just does not work and the laptop just shows me a blue screen.
I tried with out with my friend's Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, it has the same problem. Does this means that my macbook air mini disoaly port got a problem?
    Thanks
    Bryan

I am experiencing the same kind of problem... only with projectors. Some projectors will display the screen and then others wont even register with the MacBook Air.
Using an Apple Min Displayport to VGA adapter. It's hit or miss if it works. Firmware has been updated on the adapter but this did not help.
    Anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Nathan.

  • IPhone 4 voice/data connection issues?

I've had my iPhone 4 for around 6 months now. Lately I've been dropping a lot of out-going calls and have had some issues receiving calls in the last few days. Today I've had 3 voice mail notifications from people who have tried to call me and could not get through. It rings through to voicemail and sends me a notification after they're done recording. I have anywhere from 2 to 4 service bars, usually averaging at 3 in this location.
On top of the voice and call issues, I've been having problems with GPS and location services lately, too. I use the Waze app for directions. My phone will register 3G data signal, but none of the apps that use GPS can find any location. I have Location Service turned on in settings and have no problem starting my routes when I have wifi signal at home before I leave.
