Wifi greyed out...yet another post about this.

One of a million posts about this same issue. I have iphone 4S with iOS 7. My phone has been going along just fine. On Sunday, I was on it, using wifi,
off and on all day long. Sunday night, my connection to it on my phone was acting a little weird (slow/not connect/or drop in signal). I tried turning my router/modem off and then rebooted thinking it was that. Still acting strange, so I turned my phone off, let it sit for a minute, then turned it back on as that has
worked before. Well, when I did that, now my wifi button is "greyed" out and can't be turned on. I've tried the reset network connection about 5 times----with airplane mode on, with airplane mode off, with cellular data on, with it off, etc etc etc. I won't do the hairdryer/refrigerator trick because I don't want to make it worse. I've had the phone about 14 months so it's clearly out of warranty and I'm not paying $200 to have it repaired. So now, it's no better than a flip phone as I can't use any apps without it going against my data usage. What a crock. I can't believe Apple, whom I've trusted and with the advice of friends, would put out
something that does this. Apparently this is not a new problem as I've seen others' posts about this happening with iOS 6. So any other solutions?

Oh I forgot to mention that on the Easy Access it says my wifi is on but at the top of the phone it still says 4G. So is it on or not?

To help save time I've compiled a list of various tests (including bypassing the RV042) and configuration options.

Yet another post about problems with a Zen Mi

So the deal is everytime i try to put music onto my micro it says it's busy or not connected, but i know it is connected and i know my USB ports are fine, i can however make it work temporarily if i reformat it from recovery mode, but that of course deletes all my songs, im pretty sure i have the firmware i'm supposed to .....02.05..... but im not for sure, and also i did see on one of these threads that someone had bought a new usb cord and that fixed their problems, but i'd rather not waste the money if it wont fix it, any input would be very much appreciated

Well believe it or not, i did do my research and i looked through the FAQ and many many other posts about micro problems, and i know that the computer is not the problem, and for anyone who has made a similar post in the past and fixed the problem please let me know because on pretty much every thread i looked at the problem was not resolved, or at least not posted as resolved, but once again my main question is could it be the USB cord?

Yet another post about speed issues !

So had my infinity for more than 10wks now. Have been told time n time again by customer service, sales and technical help that I should get between 67 and 80 meg but after countless phone calls and apparent 'tweaks' at the exchange I'm still only getting 46 at best. Openreach engineer I spoke to in the street said it leaves the box in the street ( 2 short streets away ) at 80 so surely the problem is been m between the box and my house! Why don't they send someone to check this. One of the tech help dept even told me my line can only support 40meg and that I have been miss led over the speed! ! Though others have said I can get the higher speed. Another call back promised for today did not receive any call!
Think I'll be joining virgin when this year's contact is up, 10 months to go and counting, unless I can get out sooner for miss selling.

If it's a similar problem would you not expect a similar answer! The reason you are asked to perform speed tests etc is to try and establish where the problem may be.
As most people can not be bothered or do not search the forum before posting and perhaps finding the answer it is necessary for those people who give up their own time to try and help, to post the same thing time and time again.
I just hope that if you do have a problem it is not the same as somebody else may have had since you don't seem to want a cut and paste answer.

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

I've had my 4s for about 2 years now and since updating to IOS 7.04 my wifi has greyed out and will not work. I've tried all the reseting issues(airplane mode, reset network settings, erase all settings), all of these have fixed issue for about 20 minutes and then wifi greys out again. I went to an Apple store and they were willing to change the phone for a 200$ fee. Seriously?? I can't believe that Apple would do this. This is my first experience with an Apple product being defective and I was appalled. I was with blackberry for over 10 years and anytime I had an issue with warranty there was not questions asked and device was replaced and I did not have to pay anything. I was at the Apple store at 9am and there was about 50 customers with issues. WOW!! All that to say that I'm now stuck with a device that has now WIFI. This is just great.

Like I said on my previous post. I am not complaining about the warranty, If the phone becomes defective and it is my fault and I don't have a warranty anymore, I'm fine with paying to get a new phone. I'm just saying, when its become clear that this is an issue with the update that Apple has sent and to no fault of mine that my wifi is not working anymore(and others can concur that they've been having the same wifi issue after updating to IOS 7 and later), it would be very sincere of a company as big as Apple and seems willing to help their customers stay with their products, that they should be abit more attentive to the consumer that spends their hard earned money on their product. Especially when it seems to be that the phone is not working because of their updates that they have sent.

Hi all my iphone 4s isnt connecting to wifi greyed out since updating ios7 tryed all troubleshooting tips etc its 15 mths old so not covered but after contacting apple i can send it for repair for €211 this seems harsh seens its their fault issue only started due to the update have read why , read loads discussions and so many with same problem So have repair set up is it even worth it or as anyone done this what was outcome ??

Some folks think the problem is due to poor solder connections of the WiFi chip on the card. Heating may expand the joints to cause temporary connectivity. The chip itself could be of low tolerance, and the iOS update causes it to fail the threshold. If you have tried the software resets, then the cure is to reflow the solder of the chip to the WiFi card, or to replace the WiFi card. Apple will not "own" this problem, even though it seems to be widespread. Apple offers to renew your contract for a new iPhone at $199. Certain repair shops will tackle this problem, although many local shops will not. In the US try iFix Miami Beach. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.

Iphone 5C wifi greyed out and screen going crazy

Hi I bought my iPhone back in October in Us from Tmobile, since December the wifi greyed out and hasn't worked once (been living on data) now recently the screen goes crazy, it types by its self unlocks the phone (dont have a password) sometimes calls people etc... now the thing is I recently moved to Dubai and I cant go to a apple store as we do not have one here, so could I ship my phone to States and have apple repair it or give me a replacement if I pay for their shipping costs back to Dubai ? If not jailbroken, restore the iOS. Most likely there is a hardware problem
The warranty is valid only in the USA. Apple will not accept shipment from or ship to any address outside the USA for this phone.

Iphone 4s- 6.1.2- wifi greyed out?

Ever since I upgraded from ios 6.1 to 6.1.1 then to 6.1.2 I have had my wifi greyed out and unable to use it. This has been like this for a month now.
I have reset all settings, restored from points before this update, restored and set up as a new iphone, deleted all data and settings.
Still nothing, the problem has persisted.
Will I have to go to Apple Genius bar now? As its really annoying...

My WIFI greyed out after 6.1 update, then my power buttion failed. Basically this update ruined my phone which was working perfectly. Does anyone have any soultions to these problems? Thank you.

It has no correlation. You do not have to have an Apple ID in order house an iPhone. An Apple ID is only needed to use iCloud and iTunes & App Store on an iPhone. You can have an iPhone set up as new, no user data whatsoever, and still connect to wi-fi.
Making a new Apple ID had nothing to do with fixing the wi-fi on your iPhone. It's like saying that putting a new driver into a car suddenly fixed the transmission problem.
