Will a dive enclosure (or flat lens) be offered for the hdr-az1?

I recently bought the hdr-az1 at Best Buy.  I had originally gone in to buy a GoPro, but was convinced that the Sony was the better option by the sales associate.  He also assured me that most of the peripherals that the GoPro has, Sony also offers, including a dive enclosure for underwater filming, and there is...for every model except the AZ1.  Will a dive enclosure be available?  I bought this for a trip to the bahamas, and all of the underwater shots are terrible from the stock enclosure.

Hi oramac, Welcome to the Sony Community! Currently, Sony doesn't have a dive door or case for the HDRAZ1 action cam. But we appreciate the suggestion for one, and we will forward your request to the engineering department for future product developments. To learn more about the camera, kindly visit http://esupport.sony.com/ and Sony's Youtube page SonyListens. For more accessories for you camera, you can check them out at http://store.sony.com/. If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution". Thanks_MitchMitch, this type of response does not inspire confidence in Sony support. When you send it on to engineering, we should also hear a response back from them. There have been a number of very good suggestions and questions about firmware upgrades for the AZ1, but never a response back from engineering. Even if it is no, maybe, yes, or may be considered in a future product would be useful. But no response is not acceptable. I am still a Sony fanboy. I have 3 action cams incl the AZ1, and IMO Sony has the best vid quality by far. But their support truly s_ucks at best.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ? In effect he is not available in my list of correction lens so my lightroom is up to date apparently :/
    Thanks in advance for answer.

There are two types of Lens profiles - raw and JPEG. It looks like you are trying to process a JPEG image and Adobe has only provided a raw lens profile for the 18-135mm IS STM lens.
    You have four options:
    1) Check for available lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. I checked and a JPEG lens profile is NOT available for the 18-135mm lens.
    2) Follow the procedure outlined by Steve Sprengel in this post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_5_lens_profile_not_applied_for_jp g_captures_only_for_raw_captures
More detailed instructions here for a Pentax lens example:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-processing-articles/176761-creating-adobe-lens-cor rection-profiles-jpgs-raw-ones.html
This allows using the available raw lens profile with JPEG images. To my knowledge Canon DSLR cameras do not apply distortion correction to JPEG images, so the raw profile should work well. You can check this by shooting raw+JPEG and comparing the two images inside LR
    3) Create you own lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. (A complicated process, but it can be done!).
    4) Start shooting in raw mode or raw + JPEG mode, which will allow you to extract the most benefit from LR's processing controls.

  • Lens correction file for the Zeiss Touit 2.8/50M

Could we get a lens correction file for the Zeiss Touit 2.8/50M inside Photoshop CC in the near future?

Most probably, the slanting of the cup in the corner of the image is not created by distortion of the lens but by pointing the camera down.
When the camera is not held level but pointed up or down, the sensor is not parallel with the vertical lines of the cup. This is the "Scheimpflug" phenomenon - google for this word and you'll get lots of results. The "Scheimpflug" phenomenon gets stronger towards the edges of the image.
This is why architectural photographers use "view cameras" where you can adjust the angle of the film plane or the digital sensor plane so that it is parallel to the vertical lines of a building.
You can adjust the slanting of the cup with the manual vertical slider in Lens Correction,  and you might have to adjust the horizontal slider as well. The trade off is that that now your image will be severely "keystoned" and that is probably not what you want.
But you cannot blame the lens profile. The lens profile corrects only distortion by the lens., not distortion by the "Scheimpflug" principle.
PS: A tilt-shift lens will also correct distortions of the "Scheimpflug" principle.

  • IPad Air is Awesome - But how will i afford it ? Need an exchange offer for iPad with Retina Display to iPad Air in India

I have a iPad with retina display with me. We require an exchange offer for the new iPad Air in india.

Sell your iPad retina and use that money to offset the cost of a new iPad air.
And if your iPad retina works fine for your uses now, why not just wait - odds are there will be an iPad Air II or something new within a year or less anyway - any consumer electronic device gets replaced with a newer model in very short order anyway.  If you try to always have the very latest and greatest, you'll go broke (or nuts, or both).

  • Does the lens correction profile for the Canon 24-70 eliminate all distortion?

The new Camera Raw seems excellent in the Lens Correction...I will be photographing dancers and will have only 9 feet to work with. I would like to use the widest lens I can with lens correction. The question is whether this new program will flatten out the 24mm lens or if I should use the 35.
    Roger Minkow

To add to Eric's great explanation, the corrections here are for barrel and pincushion distortion. That can be present in a lens of any focal length.
What isn't corrected is the effect in wide angle lenses where there is spreading of the image of three dimensional objects away from the center of the field. It happens at any distance, not just close up. It is caused by the extreme angle of projection from the back of the lens to the flat film/sensor plane. Think of a straight on photo of a building that has equal size columns across the facade with a wide angle lens. The columns at either end of the image appear wider than the (same width) columns in the middle. Retrofocus design wide angle lenses help a little bit (the rear of the lens is further from the focal plane than in a standard wide angle), but the distortion is usually there.
There is also distortion from being too close to the subject. Focal length doesn't really matter in that, except that longer lenses don't have the field of view to take in the close subject and can't usually focus that close. So we associate this distortion with wide angle lenses. This sort of distortion would be that where a person's nose in the middle of the frame looks very large and there is quick falloff in size to the eyes, ears, background. I think of this as more an issue of perspective, and this is controlled by camera placement, not by focal length or lens design.

  • Will my phone automatically go one hour ahead tonight for the time change? Also, if I set my alarm will it go off at the time it's supposed to, or an hour later?

I live in ny and was wondering if tonight with the time change, will my iPhone automatically change the time? Also, if my alarm is set to go off in the morning, will it go off an hour later, or at the time that its supposed to?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Date & Time.
If you have Set Automatically selected, the date and time for your iPhone is set automtically based on the tower your iPhone is connected to with your cell phone carrier.
The date and time will be changed automatically on your iPhone based on your carrier changing the date and time at the tower your iPhone is connected with.
If the date and time is changed automatically on your iPhone, the alarm wiil go off at the selected time for the alarm. If you need to ensure you don't miss waking up at the designated time, I would use a backup alarm that is not based on the date and time being changed by your cell phone carrier.

  • Vi will not open, instead Labview opens a search window for the vi

I have a vi in 7.1 that, while running, locked the PC.  After rebooting, Labview could no longer open the code.  Instead it acts as if searching for a sub-vi it cannot find.....itself.   I've seen similar questions posted from years ago with the rare and only solution from an NI engineer using LabView development utilities.

    Hi Freestream
What information were you able to find? Do you receive an error when you try to open this file? You can access the labview error log from  C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Temp for Windows 2000 or XP and C:\users\(User Name)\Documents\LabVIEW Data\lvfailure log for Windows Vista. There is a second log file for the previous time LabVIEW was run LabVIEW_versionsusername_log.txt. Also try opening the VI in a later version of LabVIEW. Let us know if you get a specific error message or .cpp error. Since the VI crashed in the middle of operation its also entirely possible that it has become corrupted and this error will not be reproducible.

  • Will there be a trade-in offered for the New iPad and the iPad with Retina Display?

I don't really understand what's going on. I bought The New iPad in early August and was told that it was the one with Retina Display and it was the top of the line. I cannot find a "New ipad" on Apple's website. In fact, the only iPad with Retina Display is one with the lightning connector. I'm utterly confused and feel very jipped. Can anyone maybe explain to me? Where has the "iPad 3" gone on the website? And will I be able to do a trade for the newest considering I just bought it?
    Thanks
    Kelsey

The iPad 4, which is now also called the iPad with retina display, essentially replaces the iPad 3, which is no longer available except as a refurbished product. The naming is confusing, as both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 had a retina display. The iPad 4 has the same price points but with a fater processor, better Facetime camera, lightning connector, and faster wi-fi. As soon as it came out yesterday, the iPad 3 was removed from the Apple store. It has essentially been discontinued.
People who bought the iPad 3 within the last 14 days can return it no questions asked. There are stories about some stores allowing an exchange for the iPad 4 if you bought the iPad 3 within the last 30 days, but there's nothing official from Apple on that, and it seems to vary from store to store. I called my local Apple store, and they said no, but I'm waiting for a call back from a manager to confirm this.
I think you may be out of luck trying to return or exchange it at the Apple Store, but you can look a selling it and putting the money toward a new model. Here's a link to an article with some info that may help:
    http://9to5mac.com/2012/10/24/top-places-to-trade-a-third-generation-no-so-new-i pad-for-cash-or-credit/
Good luck. It's definitely a lousy thing for Apple to do to iPad 3 users.

Have you tried to browse the CD and start the install using the install.exe. file? You can try this to see if it will install.

One question for you, is your version of Vista 64 bit? To find out right click on the computer icon, go to properties and look for the version number of Windows. If you have 64 bit Vista, you will not be able to sync via the usb cable, there are no USB drivers for 64bit Vista.

  • Will there be a new LGA 2011 board(s) for the release of IB-E?

    As the topic suggests.
I'm planning a new build and would like to know.
    Cheers :D

Don't get your hopes up. Initially, DDR4 will be too expensive and too slow to justify the jump over DDR3. It'll be the next high end platform (the X99 successor) that will be considerably faster compared to DDR3 platforms. It's like the DDR to DDR2 and DDR2 to DDR3 switches. Major performance increases happened a couple of years after the new interface surfaced.
X99 will use many SATA 6Gbps ports but until then there will be cheaper SATA 12Gbps expansion cards on the market. Not to mention that using more than 2 of them is very unlikely. HDDs are hardly reaching 1.5Gbps and you won't need more than 2 SSDs on a typical system. If the system is not typical then it will either use 12Gbps SATA or PCIe SSDs, so again the 6Gbps ports will not be needed.
The PCIe 3 fiasco is NVIDIA's mess and has nothing to do with limitations of X79 and SB-E processors.
Essentially, the only reason to get X99 will be the support for 8 to 12 core Haswell-E desktop processors. But those will most likely be overpriced (1000$+).
Unfortunately Ivy Bridge-E desktop processors (out around this November) won't likely come in more than 6 cores. Unlike the server parts that will have up to 12 cores.
Haswell-E and X99 are expected to come out near November 2014. That's about one year and half from now. So waiting until then is not advised.
All in all, X79 and Sandy Bridge-E lasted way more than I thought. They'll stay 2 full years since their release at the top of desktop platforms until IB-E comes out and steals the first place in performance. Then after 1 year Haswell-E will ditch it to 3rd place, maybe 4th counting the Haswell refresh for LGA1150.
LGA2011 seems to be on par with LGA1366 in regards to longevity.
LGA1366 processors offered a greater performance boost over similar core 2 processors. The problem was that the major boost the 970 gave over quad core processors came at a very high price and came two years after the platform was released, and when the 980 came out SB-E was just around the corner.
Still, even 5 years later, a quad core 920 is fast enough to run every software currently out at reasonably high settings.
LGA2011 processors offer a less significant performance boost over similar LGA1366 processors, but the cost is far lower for the hexa-core released together with X79, while the LGA1366 equivalents were either too expensive or came out near the end of the platform's life. You also have more PCIe lanes with double the speed per lane. The greater over-clocking potential of SB-E is also a plus.
Judging from the current trends, it seems that early LGA1366 processors like the 920 will be enough for everything until around 2014-2015, and late hexa-core ones until around 2017-2018. That's like freaking 10 years since the platform came out!
LGA2011 processors will last about 5 years longer due to typical performance increases on new processors, and due to the inclusion of AVX instructions on them leaving major overhead for application performance optimizations (it's as important as SSE was for Pentium 3). That's also like 10 years until LGA2011 came out, maybe 12-15 if octa-core (or faster) IB-E desktop processors come out.
Technological advancements happen at a lower pace these years. Long gone are the days where every next year processor performance was doubled. Back then you needed a new PC every 2 years. I guess that I prefer the current situation. :p
Anyway, this post went a little overboard. To answer the poster's question... I'd say that MSI will get new X79 boards out in order to have "out of the box" Ivy Bridge-E capable boards out on the market. No current boards will support IB-E until their BIOS is updated, which is quite pointless if you need to buy an old processor in order to make the new one you bought compatible.
If you have a way to update the board BIOS to get the board ready for IB-E then by all means, get one of the MSI boards already out. The 8 DIMM versions of the X79A GD45 and GD65 boards from MSI are amongst the most reliable boards out there, even compared to the boards of other platforms (LGA 1155, 1150, AM3, etc).
Now, I don't say that there can't be defective boards, just that the chances of getting a defective board are far lower compared to the rest. The reliability of those boards when they are stressed is also better than on the rest.
    Cheers! :D
