Will a movie sync to my ipod everytime i connect it to my computer?

i bought a movie in my ipod, it synched with my computer the next time i plugged it, but when i connected it again it synched the movie into the ipod again so now i have two of the same, will it transfer it every time?  and how do i erase the second movie?

No. The latest version of iTunes should support all models of iPods regardless of age.  Are you plugging the Shuffle into a high powered USB 2.0 port on your PC/Mac versus a hub? Have you tried resetting the Shuffle with it still connected via USB? Use this article for instructions on resetting the Shuffle.

Also make sure the connections on each end are nice and snug. Are you using the same cable that was originally included with the Shuffle?

Are you sure your iPod Classic is configured to sync podcasts to your device?  You'll want to double check by taking a quick look at your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes when it appears to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Podcasts tab and select it.  Under this tab you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you make any changes, be sure to click theApply button in the lower right hand corner.

  • Games I bought years ago, Texas Holdem and iQuiz will no longer transfer to my iPod Classic. They show in my computer "Apps" but they won't transfer. They no longer show that they can be "Re-Downloaded" from "Previously Purchased" they don't exist there.

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

From the link at the bottom of my post:
Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software can also cause these errors

I would do what the article and if unsuccessful make an appointment at the Genius bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.

  • I just updated my iTunes, and I need to delete photos from my iPod 4, and there is a Photo Library that synced to my iPod when i plugged it into my computer, and now it doesnt have the option to delete them off my iPod. How do I get rid of these photos?

I just updated my iTunes, and I need to delete photos from my iPod 4, and there is a Photo Library that synced to my iPod when i plugged it into my computer, and now it doesnt have the option to delete them off my iPod. How do I get rid of these photos? I have read other questions that say to plug the iPod into the computer and like un-sync it, but I downloaded the new iTunes and it doesnt have a photos tab. Does anyone know how to solve my problem? Please and Thank You, Megan!

Just what did you do to the computer?
It sounds like the iPodf is seening the iTunes libary as a new libary.

  • When I add a new song to an existing playlist, will it automatically sync to my iPod once connected to my computer?

When I add a song to an existing playlist on iTunes, will it sync to my iPod once connected?
I'd rather not have to remember each specific playlist I add songs too to sync it to my iPod.
I do have automatic sync set up, starting today because I got tired of constantly manually adding music.
ALSO, if I deleted songs in iTunes, will it delete them in my iPod as well once connected to my computer?

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
    Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.
    Hope this helps.

  • Changing to manual sync while the ipod is NOT connected?

I was trying to find out if there was a way to change the iPods setting to sync manually (or only for selected material) without connecting the iPod to the Mac.
I do not want to loose high score settings on some games. As far as I can tell I can change settings only when the iPod is connected to my Mac, and when I connect it will initiate an automatic sync all as that was the setting when last connected to the Mac!
Is there anyway to change the setting to manual without having the iPod connected? Alternatively, is there anyway to disable sync, or cancel sync before connecting the iPod?

*Is there anyway to change the setting to manual without having the iPod connected?*
    No there's not
*Alternatively, is there anyway to disable sync, or cancel sync before connecting the iPod?*
Yes there is. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.3

My brother locked it and it says "iPod is disabled connect to iTunes" and i did but iTunes says it needs to be unlocked before i can use it ?!? how do i unlock it from iTunes or what do i do?!

If you've forgotten your old account then do you have any of its downloads in your computer's iTunes library : Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name
If not then see if your can find it via http://appleid.apple.com : Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID
For your disabled iPod, there are instructions on this page for how to reset it back to factory defaults, you can then restore/resync your content to it : iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled

  • Multiple iPod shuffles to connect to the same computer

Is there any special instructions to have two iPods that my family would want to connect to the same computer?
Each family member has our own playlist and we'd like to update our own iPod shuffles with our own playlists. The first iPod shuffle we bought works fine, but I'm having trouble getting the second iPod to be recognized.
thanks in advance for your help

    Marc,
I have two iPod Shuffles supported by a single Dell Desktop running Windows XP/SP2. I'll relate my experience and hope that helps you. My first Shuffle was a 512Mbyte. I installed the iTunes software from the CD that came with the Shuffle, and then plugged the Shuffle into the USB port at the bottom front of the Dell. It was recognized by Windows and by iTunes and I was directed to register the Shuffle with Apple. I named the Shuffle and that name appears in the iTunes Source List. Then I acquired a 1Gbyte Shuffle for my wife. I DID NOT re-install iTunes from the new CD (although I made sure that the existing iTunes was the latest version 4.7.1). Now with iTunes open, I plugged my wife's Shuffle into the same USB port as I use for my Shuffle. Once again, the new shuffle was recognized by both Windows and iTunes and, once again, I was asked to register the second Shuffle and give it a name (of course, different from the other Shuffle). Now both Shuffles appear in the Source List. I only plug one Shuffle in at a time, and the Shuffle that's plugged-in has a little "up-arrow" appear to the right of its name in the Source List. I am the administrator and only user of the Dell, so there's no "partitioning" problems that might screw up the support of multiple Shuffles -- your family members may have separate accounts on your computer, but I'd suggest that only one (and always the same) user logon to access iTunes and the Shuffles.
    Good luck.

  • What exactly will "erase and sync"-ing my ipod erase?

so i want to download a video onto my mom's ipod but apparently the ipod has been synced to another itunes library when last time, i plugged it into the same computer to update it...
anyway the notification "do you want to erase this ipod and sync with the contents of this itunes library?" came up so i just want to know what will be erased.... like i don't want to lose her apps and the progress she's made in them hahaha.
just some more details:when i plug in the ipod,
    under the "Tones" section--i didn't checkmark it;
    "Sync Music" didn't checkmark it
"Sync Movies" well I want to checkmark it and check the video i want to download
"Sync tv shows" "Sync photos" all aren't checkmarked
so the only thing i have checked (or want to check) is the movies. the ipod currently doesn't have any music on it but lots of photos and apps and i don't want to lose any of them. so if i were to click "erase and sync" will that delete the photos and apps and the progress?
MUCH THANKS TO ANYONE THAT WOULD HELP!

You have to use the manual method of syncing to copy music and videos for other than the one syncing computer you can have. The manual method is discussed here:

  • My m4bs will no longer sync to my ipod

I recently updated the software on my ipod touch 4th gen. After updating, I tried to sync my playlists, but not all of the files would sync. After some investigation, I figured out that the files that wouldn't sync were audio books in m4b format. They synced just fine before the update. What is the problem here?

Right click on the them and select Get Info. In the oPtions tab are they coded as Audio books in Media Kind?
Do you have the latest iTunes? It is 11.3.1

  • Why will iTunes not sync to my iPod after installing the latest update for iTunes?

Hi I have a Macbook and I just downloaded the latest update for iTunes and when I plugged in my iPod to sync I keep getting and error message. How do I fix this problem?

I haven't done one of those for a while. But the following troubleshooting document might still be worth a shot:

  • Why does all the content delete from my iPod everytime it connects to iTunes

I'm getting real frustrated and I am getting sick of the same thing happening everytime. I don't know if it's my computer or if it's iTunes. I have an iPod classic 160Gb, the computer is Acer - Aspire One 772 (it's junk, but it works for the time being) Windows 7 (64)
Here is what happens: I only have podcasts in my iTunes. I have about 15 different podcasts and about 169 episodes in my iTunes. I check and download episodes daily. After downloading episodes, I hook up my iPod to transfer new podcasts to the iPod. iTunes shows everything working fine but after ejecting my pod and looking to see if they transferred they are all deleted. I get angry and want to break everything but I resist.
To get podcasts onto my iPod I have to restart my computer, open iTunes, reset sync history, then connect my iPod. It doesn't get recognized, so I have to restore the iPod. After restoring I sync it up. Lately it has been freezing during the sync at about 65 episodes. I have to force iTunes to shut down and sometimes go through the restore process. So after listening to my iPod all day, I will come home, check for and download new episodes and hook up my iPod and bam...no more podcasts on my iPod. I need solutions on what could be causing this and how to fix it.
This is what I have done so far: I have tried another iPod classic and the same thing happens. I have deleted iTunes and reinstalled it. I have checked the iPods with Windows for errors and bad sectors. My last option that I am holding out on, is to delete iTunes and delete all the podcasts from the computer. When I first got this temp. computer everything worked good. I do not know what happened.
Any ideas, thoughts and solutions are welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Kenny
