Will Gainward 6800GT fit my MSI K8T NEO FIS2R?

Horror picture on a ABIT NF7-S
I saw this picture and saw that the card i extremely long!
Anyone here on the forum that can guarantee that my Gainward 6800GT card (with a red gainward cooler) will fit on my MSI K8T NEO FIS2R?
MSI K8T NEO FIS2R
Please?

I think I have found out the problem
Using my old Enermax (350) I was able to boot up the AMD 64 2800 every time but the PSU made this weird electrical sound - I think because it was being overloaded (I think as it doesn't make this sound when used with my XP 1800). I then reverted back to my new X-Pro (460w) and after a few attempts I managed to get the ram module and CPU powered... slowly adding more fans it became harder to boot and eventually the GPU fan wouldn't run once I plugged another fan in... I'm guessing this is because my PSU is too weak to power the juice guzzling AMD
I'll need to break the bank once again I suppose

  • Msi k8t neo fis2r problems part 3

sometimes when the computer is turned on it just turns the fans and leds on but doesnt boot up...
most of the time it loads up and i boot to the windows xp cd and i install the drivers for sata and then when it reaches the point of copying the files it will give me a bsod and say that there is a problem with the irql driver and then force me to shut the pc down..
sometimes it makes it past that and will begin to copy files onto the hard drive, like somehow the data is becoming corrupted..however it will start to say that the files cant copy randomly and it will allow me to retry..they will copy the 2nd time usually..i can keep hitting retry and it will usually go by..it gets to 30 something % and then crashes to bsod just giving me some random error..for some reason the files keep screwing up that go on the sata drive....I just replaced the old power supply that wasnt working with an antec true watt 430 watt power supply, so i know it isnt that..
i just cant figure out what the heck is going on..any help would be appreciated.my specs are

western digital 8mb cache 80 gb sata hard drive
sapphire radeon 9800 pro 128 mb 8x agp

fyi look an your cd sticker ity will show power, consumption, but they are way lower than you would think, hard drives, can be only 10 watts, less then some case lights , and fans, cd are  similar.. your video, is the biggy somewhere between 90~150 watts..yikes .next to the cpu..and the mobo can use 50 or so (not sure about new mobos)  not to mention the ram 1024 is @40 watts or so., dont forget about 25watts per pci card, not counting the sound card which can be double....
ergo the need for a big psu..
the combined total ratting on a psu is not the max number that the psu is rated, that is surge value.. so a 500 may only hold 400 sustained , and that will drop as the machine heats up, so in the end your 500 may onlyy pull 366 @50'c...

  • MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R VIA K8T800 Issues

I am thining of switching from a P4 system to a athlon 64 system. Only I have a few problems.
Will I be able to use an amd athlon 64 3000+ on the MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R VIA K8T800 motherboard??
and also will I be able to use my OCZ 1GB (512x2) DDR533Mhz PC 4200 RAM (DUAL CHANNEL) on the motherboard as well?

    Hi
I use Elixir from Ebuyers, thats the cheapest I could find, works flawlessly on the AMD 64 3200+, the label says
    ' M2U51264D88HB3G-5T
    512MB DDR 400MHz- CL3
    PC3200U-30330
The sticks were taken from a KT4 Ultra, where they also worked faultlessly.
    Hope it helps

  • Problems with OC in MSI K8T Neo FIS2R!!!

    Hi!
I have faced problems when making OC in my Athlon 64 3400+. I do not obtain to increase the FSB for 213Mhz more than without that they occur stopped or reset. I am using 1Gb (2x512) of Ram (Corsair CMX 3200LL PRO).
In the internet many stories exist that chip VIA K8T800 is not good for OC, because the AGP/PCI cannot be stopped with fixed values.
Exists some form to obtain with stability in this Mobo one overclock descent, with FSB of at least 220Mhz? The lack of stability in overclock limits the processor very, what it finishes in forcing to who knows to abandon the K8T Neo, passing to a Mobo that uses Nforce3 250, for example.
If somebody will be able to help with tips to try one overclock for FSB in 220mhz with stability would be very grateful, friends!

Take your sata drive off and you can overclock higher. There is no PCI/AGP lock so the speeds are affecting your sata drive. 210 mhz. system clock is about the limit before the sata drives start to act up.
The problem is with that particular VIA chipset. No way around it has been found to work in a practical manner.

  • MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R - Suggestions

    Hi,
I have just ordered these parts:
    AMD Athlon 64 3200 (Socket 754) - Retail (CP-060-AM)
    Asus DVD-E616P1 16X DVD-ROM / 48X CD-ROM - Retail (CD-002-AS)
Western Digital Caviar 120GB Special Edition 8MB Cache Serial ATA - OEM (HD-009-WD)
Antec Sonata Piano Black Quiet Case - 380W TruePower Silent PSU (CA-003-AT)
    MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R (Socket 754) Motherboard (MB-010-MS)
    Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro
I am still stuck on RAM, despite searching other topics. Which PC3200 RAM actually works to the speed that it should, I'm not convinced by the MSI list.
Will Kingston HyperX PC3200 work to its full standard? I was initially looking at KingMax PC3500 RAM which is a lot cheaper, however it seems pointless to spend so much on quality parts and then get cheap RAM(although PC3500 should be faster, I assume it shouldn't make any difference if I'm not overclocking). I don't think I can quite afford Mushkin RAM, as I have about £220 for 1GB.
Secondly, with my PSU be able to power the system without overclocking?
    Thanks for any ideas.

I would also suggest a better PSU, I had a Enermax 350W before and it only just coped + a high pitched whining sound
Plus a Pentium 4 and an AMD64 = not equivalent in terms of power consumption. If you already have that PSU, then fair enough try it. But if your still planning to buy it... I would go for a better one. Just my 2 cents

  • MSI K8t Neo FIS2R RAID Question

I've just put together my new system. If it weren't for this forum, I might not have succeeded. Thanks for all the info out there.
Currently, I'm running raid 0, using (2) raptor 74's. The next thing I want to do is mirror. I bought a 160 gig maxtor ata drive for this purpose. But, after seeing the table in the MSI raid manual, it looks like I have to use (2) drives the same size as the raptor 74's inorder to use the raid 0+1 configuration. Any help on this would be apreciated.
    MSI K8t Neo FIS2R
    Athlon 64 3200
    Kingston (2) 512mg Hyper X DDR500
Western Digital 74 gig Raptors (2) raid 0
Nvidia Geforce Ti 4200 128mg graphics
    shydragon

but mirror raid wont save you from oc crash's , virus, bad installs, acidently, deleteing or any useful recovery..it only protects from hd failure to mechanical or electrical malfunction.
you are far better off imagine the drives or mking backups, and using the drives as storage for that, you will come out ahead.
but if you still want raid 1, you can
    partition the drives?
use the smaller ones for system restore , and internet cache, mp3's . for example
for rich performance freaks buy 2 more satas and raid them on the other chip
    just a few ideas

  • Msi k8t neo fis2r odd post issues

well, i went over to a friends house, pulled out his ram..put in in my computer..it posted and boot to windows..perfectly..
so then i go into the bios and up the voltage..so that i can put my old ram back in..it stopped responding when i updated the bios becuase it set the voltage back down to default..so..
i put my ram back in once the voltage is set to 2.75 v and it booted a few times perfectly..i unhooked everything and came home..well
now i try to boot the pc and once again it will not boot? is it possible that the cmos got cleared when i unplugged the pc???
i know my ram isnt bad..i ran it on a friends system while playing games for hours..this motherboard is driving me insane..someone really dropped the ball when they made these..so many issues with having to fool around with voltages etc..cant even get the damn system to post if the voltage isnt up and even then sometimes it seems to not want to ..its crazy..
i know none of my components are NOT broken because ive stresssed them all fully in other peoples computers..
if anyone has any clue as to how i can get this thing to post to get back in the bios plz reply..im at wits end
    my system specs are
    athlon 64 3000+
512mb mushkin special 2-2-2 ram (i will change the timings to the recommended slightly delayed timings but i have to actually get into the bios to make this possible)
    msi k8t neo fis2r bios 1.4

Southmike is sooooooooo right on that one. I see a lot of folks running stuff on other computers with + results and then nothing on the Athlon64 - equipped systems. Well, I think it's O.K. to a certain point, at least to find out if an item is not defunct. But, most of the problems are RAM and PSU related. After that, I believe the BIOS is the biggest issue. And I think some of our forum readers don't actually understand the settings they mess with. I for one, do not fully understand a few of them myself! That is why it's important to make changes in BIOS one at a time.....if you are not as experienced as a lot of folks here at the forum are.

  • Msi k8t neo fis2r wont post plz help

I recently updated my bios for the motherboard, and now I can't get the pc to post.  Before I had the pc going but it kept getting gpfs and crashing to the desktop from games..
I was having problems with it not wanting to post before but I raised the voltage to my ram and fixed that, the problem is that when the bios got wiped from the upgrade it lowered the voltage on the ram..now i just cant get it to post at all..if anyone has any suggestions on how to get this powered up so i can change the voltage again please let me know
I am only using one ram chip...
    my specs are
    athlon 64 3000+
    512mb mushkin special
    sapphire radeon 9800 pro
    msi k8t neo fis2r mboard
    antec 430 watt 12v - 20a
i cant afford a new psu and i know this one is ok as my friend tested it in his identical system for 24 hours ..
my mboard just seems to refuse to post ..i upgraded my bios and the voltage dropped because the update sets the defaults back to default..
after i upgraded the bios, it posted once, i was in the bios and i saved some settings and restarted..i was going to go back and up the voltage on the ram again so that it would post (i had solved my problem similar to this earlier by upping the ram voltage to 2.75) but it was too late and after it shutdown it wouldnt turn back on
also, ive tried all 3 ram slots with the chip, and ive cleared the cmos with the jumper 3 times..

your complete specs may help .. if running two sticks of ram you could remove one stick ... you could also reset the bios using the clear CMOS jumper .. but without more detailed specs ppl will struggle to help you

  • MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R (Socket 754) and Corsair 1GB DDR Value Select PC3200 Kit (2x512MB)

Hi I just ordered the following from overclockers.co.uk and wanting some confirmation that the memory will be compatible with this Mother board
    Corsair 1GB DDR Value Select PC3200 Kit (2x512MB) and MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R
    Thanks
    Kevin

    kevtucker,
I'm running the same setup up as you and have not experienced any ram related problems so far. I'm happy with it and it is very stable.
Every ram has different settings. For the corsair 1gb value select (2x512mb) you must make sure you use these settings for the best results:
put them in slots 1 and 3.
    use the settings 2.5-3-3-8
    set the ddr voltage 2.7
I got that information straight from the official corsair forums:
    http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showindex.php?t=24410
    Good luck.

  • Msi k8t neo fis2r xp install problem

I tried to install xp on my sata drive..i downloaded the raid drivers and put them on a floppy, it accepts the raid drivers (im not trying to use raid, just regular sata), and i select the hard drive and attempt to install to it, but the files from my xp cd keep saying something about invalid image has been installed to your hard disk (or a similar message to that)
also part of the time the comp will not boot properly, it will just beep on and hang and nothing will show to the monitor, or if i have a disc in my cdrom when i try to turn it on it wont turn on, but then when i take out the disc and reboot the comp it turns on again..no clue what might be going on..
    my specs are
    a64 3000+
    512 mushkin special 2-2-2-5 cas 2.0 ram
80gb WD SATA 8mb cache HD
    radeon 9800 pro (sapphire)
    MSI K8T NEO FIS2R
    sparkle 400 watt power supply

You better get something like an Enermax 465 for your rigg, as yours:
    Quote
    Output: [email protected]/28A,+5V@40/28.5A,[email protected],+12V@15A,[email protected],+5VSB@2A
Could blow to pieces any minute now....
    15A @ 12V is way too light.....
The Enermax has 33 of them

  • MSI K8T NEO FIS2R No VGA help plz!

Hi, ive just purchased a new athlon 3000 64 cpu retail and an msi k8t neo fis2r motherboard, the specs and problem are below but plz bare in mind i am a system builder for the last 3 years i have tried alot of things to solve this.
    MSI K8T NEO FIS2R MOBO
    AMD 3000 64 RETAIL CPU
    AMD RETAIL HSF
    1024MB DDR333 SAMSUNG RAM
    120 GIG WD HD
GALAXY GLACIER GEFORCE 6800 GT 256MB
    PIONEER 106 DVD WRITER
400 WATT PSU (TSUNAMI I THINK)
Anyway the problem is this when i put the system together and turned it on i dont get any vga the monitor just says NO SIGNAL and when i look at the graphics card the fan on it isnt spinning.
Yet i have my old setup which is as follows,
    ASUS A7N8X DELUXE MOBO
    AMD 3200XP BARTON
    AMD HSF
    1024MB DDR333 AMSUNG
    120 GIG WD HD
GALAXY GLACIER GEFORCE 6800 GT 256MB
    PIONEER 106 DVD WRITER
    400 WATT PSU
Basically the same as above i just changed the cou and mobo now when the graphics card is in that system it works fine no problems as soon as i try it in the new a64 system it doesnt work the fan doesnt spin and nothing comes on screen, ive tried everything i know ive double and trebble checked connections and ive tried removing components and then trying it, no matter what the graphics wont work.
I figured the motherbaord must be faulty and am going to contact the place i got it from but it would be good if anyone here knows how to solve it if it isnt the motherboards fault.
    thanks very much.
    ic3man1999.

Thanks guys, huess what like an idiot i forgot to put the 4 pin 12v in :( doh
Anyway it works fine now, but i have high temps core centre says 56 degrees right now while im typing this ? is this accurate or am i in trouble ?
Oh yeah and everytime i load windows it says new hardware found ide channel then secondary ide channel then it says a problem occured during your new hardware installation and it calls the hardware HDC it says this twice aswell.
    ANy help guys ?
    thanks

  • Calling all old MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R users

Ops i posted this in the wrong forum first time, this is the right place
This for all MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R users, that have changed to the new MSI K8N Platinum nForce3 250 mobo, if I have the chance to swap to the new board should I do so, or does this mobo have its fair share of problems?
Is the MSI K8N Platinum nForce3 250, a better board compared to the old MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R? Not taking into account overclocking.
Like is the onboard sound the same or worse or better in your opinion? Is it any faster at stock? Are there any other advantages?
    Thx Xe

I had a K8T Neo Fis2r at first.  I got a K8N Neo because I believed my Blue Screens were a faulty K8T Neo.  As it turned out, the Audigy2 I had in there was the problem, because I still got Blue Screens with the K8N Neo, and when I took out the audigy and used onboard my system ran stable.
I havent had any of the apparent keyboard controller problems, or ANY other problems with the K8N.  My only instabilities have been the Audigy2's fault.
Havent tried overclocking on the K8N Neo yet, maybe a little down the road.  As far as features go, the K8N has the hardware firewall on it (which I dont use) but apparently its "true" gigabit ethernet is better than the K8Ts.  Dont ask me to clarify that, lol
btw Got my turtle beach Santa Cruz today and put it in my K8N Neo, crossing my fingers... =\

  • Motherboard Monitor settings for MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R

I'm new to motherboard monitor and there are no predefined settings available for the MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R.
Anyone help me with the appropriate settings to monitor temps and fans?

    Lunchbox,
Yeah I can do that - but I'm not confident of the settings or readings.  For example - the CPU temp Is only sort of correct if I set it to sensor Winbond 2 2N3904.  But after displaying what I believe is correct for a few seconds it changes to something ridiculous like 7C.  I've tried all the other board sensors listed and they either say my CPU temp is 118C or 7C.  System temp seems to work, but again I'm not sure.   Hence my post here.
It is also odd that CoreCenter and MBM disagree about a few things.  Like the +12.00 rail Corecenter says 12.00v and MBM says 12.22V.  Or Fan 1 that is easly 2X what corecenter says.
And if you run CoreCenter WHILE running MBM all kinds of wierdness happens - like CPU temp fluctutating wildly or CPU fan speed synchronizing and then not.
Plus clock speed is a consistent 2001 with CC and 1998 with MBM.
So I want someone who knows what they are doing to do the configs - clearly that's not me.

  • [Athlon64] MSI K8T Neo FIS2R BIOS Update when? CnQ no workie!

    The MSI K8T Neo FIS2R (MS-6702) hasn't had a BIOS update since 3-4-2005!
I put a Sempron 64 3000+ in my motherboard, and was very disappointed that it is recognized as an "AMD Unknown Processor".  Sure, it works, but one of the reasons I bought it is in the hopes of getting AMD Cool n Quiet to work.  However, apparently the AMD driver can't recognize the CPU due to the old BIOS on the motherboard.
Every other MSI skt 754 board supports Sempron E6 revision already.  Why not the K8T Neo FIS2R?  Where have all the MSI BIOS programmers gone?  I have been waiting 2-months for a BIOS update to support the E6 Semprons.  I have asked and begged MSI Tech Support.  I am tempted to switch to ASUS or some other company that is actually timely with BIOS updates.  Only reason I haven't yet, is this board is everything I want EXCEPT for Cool n Quiet not working.  It's starting to look like there is no BIOS update in sight, so I am very disappointed.
Anyone here work for MSI can confirm there are no plans for a BIOS update?  Because I don't want to wait around for something that's not going to happen.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I thought the mods here are MSI staff... I was just kind of hoping there's MSI staff lurking here, seeing what people think of their products or seeing what people complain about.
No, pretty much C 'n Q is the only reason I'm disappointed, but it was something I was really set on getting to work since this is a server that's up 24/7, but isn't utilized but maybe 4hrs out of a given day.  I could reduce frequency and voltage, but unlike C 'n Q, it won't automatically increase speed and voltage based on demand - which is something I want since although it's a server, I also use it as a regular PC as well.
I've even tried the 2.33 beta BIOS with no change, and even found a 5.52 BIOS in their BIOS testing directory.  I guess that BIOS was for a different kind of 6702, although I had pulled out the peripheral modules with AMI's MMTOOL and they looked the same as the existing BIOS, but that BIOS killed my motherboard so it couldn't have been for a regular 6702.  I had to desolder the BIOS chip with a heat gun, reprogram the old BIOS back on it with an EPROM programmer, and solder in a socket.  I guess that shows my dedication to get C 'n Q working!

  • [MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R] 2xCMX512-3200 DDR400 memories (corsair)

I have this motherboard:MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R (MS-6702) and currently i'm using a Kingston memory and the computer runs fine. But i've buyed TWINX1024-3200 (2xCMX512-3200 DDR400) but when I put only this memories the computer after some time or when booting restart suddenly...
Could it be about the bios version, my actual version is v1.0 and I'm using AMI BIOS.
    i've runned memtest+ and i get this: http://korpro.org/numb/PICT1348.JPG

I am in almost the exact same situation.
    MSI Neo-FIS2R
    AMD XP 2800+
    2 sticks of DDR400 Corsair XMS memory (CMX512-3200C2) 512mb each (total 1gig)
Any combination of memory together does not allow the motherboard to boot. I get no beeping or warning sounds. Everything powers up but the display remains blank.
Things I have tried in many different combinations:
    TRCD = 5, 4, 3, auto
    DDR Voltage = Auto, 2.7, 2.65
    DDR 200, DDR 300, DDR 333, Auto
    Memory in bank 1+2, 1+3, 2+3
Along with those bios setting combinations, I have tried using several bios versions:
    v2.2
    v2.0
    v1.9
    v1.8
v1.4 <--- (Stuck with this bios for the moment, since the ami flashing utility HANGS when attempting to erase the boot block in step 2 of flashing procedure for any newer bios.)
As a consequence of several days of trying unsuccessfully to get both sticks of memory to work, I have given up hope on this motherboard.
Why is it so difficult to get two sticks of memory working properly on this motherboard?
Has anyone got another trick or technique or setting I can try that may work?
    Alternatives:
Scrap the MSI motherboard -- never buy another piece of MSI crap again.
Buy a single stick of 1gig memory.
Buy a new motherboard from another manufacturer known to work properly -- at the very least not have these memory configuration issues.
Worst motherboard experience I have ever had, unfortunately.
