Will I lose anything if I restore my ipod touch

Does anyone know if there was a problem with itunes update, now my ipod is in recovery mode and they said that I need to restore it.

Download TinyUmbrella or RecBoot and see if you can kick it out of recovery mode.

That is not supported by Apple. If you are getting a network timeout error, disabling the computer's security software usuallys resolves that error.

You will lose everything if you do not have a backup.

Will I lose anything if I do a hard reset on my iPad?

That reset will remove all content from the iPad, so unless you have a computer that you can restore your content from then I'd avoid doing it. For Safari you could see if the following help instead :
Try clearing its cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot

You won't lose anything, however all purchases are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them originally so future updates of your existing apps will still require the password for your old ID (whether you are still using it for purchasing or not.

  • Will I lose anything

I am currently on OS 10.5.8. If I upgrade to 10.6.x - will I lose anything - as in access to programs like Canvas, Appleworks, etc.? I know these are old programs but I don't want to lose access to them as I have things in both of those programs that I use.
    Thanks for any insights.

One thing to remember, with any operating system install another form of loss is possible, though doesn't necessarily happen. Data loss! So please backup your data at least twice before installing anything*:

A couple clone backups, followed by disconnecting them after shutting down the machine, but before installing the software is the best preventive maintenance you can do in event the update triggers something bad to happen. It probably will not, but there is always the chance it will. So be prepared!
Oops! J.C. I see you covered this. But it can never be overemphasized!

  • If I update my LR 3.3 to 3.6 will I lose anything?

If I update my LR 3.3 to 3.6 will I lose anything? Last time I did an upgrade I lost all changes and development..

That's not normal, Giorgia - as Jim suggests, a "point release" upgrade (like 3.3 - 3.6) should be essentially invisible to the user.
But the risk of a problem is enough to motivate many of us to ensure we've got pretty robust catalogue back-up arrangements.

If you reset the device, it will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the other device. You will need her Apple ID and password if find my iPad is turned on on your device, before you can totally erase the iPad. Read this first.

my photos from my phone are not on my computer, will i lose them if i restore my phone?

The intent of having them on the cloud is for backup. If you want to feel safer and just for more expediency, I'd recommend you connect the phone to the computer whose iTunes you have associated the phone with and do a manual backup onto local storage.
That way, you can have the double assurance of having backups and when doing the restore thru iTunes, the info will get placed back on the phone the quickest.

    Thanks for answer

If you go to Apple, they will not replace your battery, but exchange your iPod for a refurbished iPod of the same model with a new battery.  Therefore you will lose everything that is not backed up.  If you change it yourself or have a third party change it, you will most likely not lose anything (but still best to make a backup as lllaass suggested).

It might be logical to someone, but not to me. I agree it's a pain.
How did you change your Apple ID? Creating a new one is not what you want to do, but if you changed the ID associated with your purchases then that might have worked. You would need to sign in with the Apple ID on both your iPod Touch as well as in iTunes. I'm not sure how you changed it but clearly they need to match.
If it's just your password that is not getting recognized reset it here: http://iforgot.apple.com/
It will send an email confirmation to the email address associated with that Apple ID. The email address you elect to use might not look anything like your Apple ID. If you don't appear to get an email check your spam filter.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
