All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

Well first off you shouldn't have had to pay for a download (just an assumption from the word "purchased".
If you are trying to install iOS 5 on your iPod touch, it won't work they arent compatible. I suggest checking what version of software you are trying to install and posting it in this forum so people can have a better understanding. -

It's a bit like the redesign of these discussion fora - the new layouts are designed for the younger generation but far too much scrolling and hard work to find what you want compared to the old format.

Any ideas how to get my software updated on my IPOD 3rd Generation when my computer times out? I have tried several times and it appears to take 30 plus hours. How Frustrating, not to mention the kids are too!
If the iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you restore from backup, not that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup and thus if those items are not in the iTunes library they can't be restored to the iPod during the latter part of the restore process. -

There is already new hardware for the nano (7th Generation) and it would take a hardware modification to put video on the 6th Generation Nano so no speculation was needed, Carl had the correct answer.
My Original iPod Nano received updates beyond it's generation, there is no reason to conclude this would not be possible for other models and generations. Why would the iPod Nano 6G need a hardware modification for video playback? It already can do analog composite video output for viewing slideshows with music and transitions on a TV and can handle full photo resolutions. The iPod Nano 6G seems more than capable from a hardware perspective of video playback, it's just that the screen is tiny small for viewing video realistically for any length of time with comfort. That can be rectified by using the onboard TV out feature, though battery life might be miserable. It has nothing to do with the release of the iPod Nano 7G. -
Is there any news about when the software update for the extravert will be available?
Had the phone since November and can't send or receive media messages or go on the internet. Basically there doesn't seem to be enough memory, stripped the phone of all apps, pics,and music to free it up but still say's it full. Getting vague answers from Verizon and L.G of there will be new software soon. On the unlimited plan and can't use everything I'm paying for. Thanks

Software update for the Samsung Charge
I am on my third Charge.......I had a Droid, and a Droid X and loved the Droid X with very few problems. However I have had nothing but problems with my Charge.......each of the charges had the same problem.......I would keep getting a pop up message stating I needed network connection even though I was showing 4 bars. I could take out the battery and it would work for a while and then I would have to take out the battery again....finally taking out the battery didn't work any more. I am in a 3G area so when I went in to the Verizon store it worked for them......so I left then it dawned on me that in the store we were on 4G......do I went back in and sure enough on 3G it did not work. They went through all the check points with their tech and sure enough nothing worked and so ...my third phone!
All this to ask "When are we gettiing an update for the Charge? We pay a lot of money for these phones and I expect them to work......at least timely bug fixes!!! We do not have a land line so it is important that my phone works in a dependable manner and considering the cost I don't think that is asking too much!
Does anyone know when an update is coming out for the Charge?

Whilst synching to my PC it said there was a software update for the iPhone.
It is now stuck with a message saying connect to iTunes. I've tried resetting it in various ways but it still comes back to Connect to iTunes, but it won't.

After getting my software update for safari yesterday (version 6.0) I've lost the google search bar on my menu bar. I've tried customizing the menu bar by dragging the google search bar to the menu bar, but no luck. How can I get the google search bar back?
You can't. It's now integrated with the URL bar. It's a search/URL combo.

Is the only way to get a software update through the Apple Store where you have to give a credit card? I thought system updates are free. I don't want to leave a credit card number with Apple.

My wife has an Ipod Mini and it has less menu possibilities than my ipod video...
I have posted the request, but as stated it will be very unlikely that they will answer the request.

Unlikely. If Apple had wanted this feature for older
iPod videos, they would've implemented it in the last
update.
However anything is possible so if you want it,

Software update for refurbished iPod touch
We just bought (last week) and received (today) a refurbished 2G touch from the Apple Store. It is running version 2.2.1; do we really have to pay for the update to version 3.0?
In a word yes (legally that is - and if you go down the other route you could end up with a brick for an iPod). Not totally sure it is worth it though as i've done it and i'm now wondering why. Check what you get before you just decide to do it as most of the features aren't that great and i can understand you wanting the upgrade for an iPhone - mms, cut and paste, searching, voice recorder...I thought it would enable bluetooth so i could put stuff on it without iTunes, but the bluetooth that is enabled only allows synching with headphones i think so not great (that's the only reason i would think you might want it unless i've missed something).

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
