Will my MS Surface Pro Win 8.1. 64-bit run my LaserJet 3310. Where to find drivers? Thanks. Perhaps, are drivers built into 8.1 as they are for Win7?

The Laserjet 3300 Windows 8.1 x64 drivers are supplied through Windows Update as for Windows 7.

  • Miracast not working on BDX5400KU with Surface Pro win 8.1

I have attempeted use the wireless display on the the surface with the toshiba BDX5400 but I cannot connect because the Surface indicates that I need to press a button on the Toshiba, which I believe is some sort of WPS requirement, but the Toshiba does not have a button to press. I have included the screenshot for your reference. Please update the FW on the Toshiba so that this button pressing requirement can be bypassed. The netgear ptv is working without this requirement.

I have exactly the same problem as above. Same Surface 2 device too. Have latest firmware available in EU (v26) installed on my BDX5400. Have called Toshiba customer support and although they are looking into it it was not a problem they knew they had identified and are working on as far as he support person himself knew (No record in their database). The Miracast device doesn't appear to be certified with 8.1 either so I'm just wondering if there will be another hurdle to climb over once we've got past this one!
Come on Toshiba get this fixed soon before a wave of other users start flooding this forum with the same problem.

  • System Image Backup fails in Surface Pro Win 8.1 with an error

I'm trying to create a system image backup by using "System Image Backup" tool that comes with Windows 8.1 without any success.
For this I went to "File History" tool and under this at the bottom-left hand side there is a link "System Image Backup". Then selected the drive and just clicked Next and Ok on the prompts.
I get the below error message around the last stage of the backup since the progress bar will be just around the finish line when
the below error pops up saying that the backup wasn't successful:
ERROR: "There was a failure while compacting the virtual had disk on the backup location. (0x80780151) Additional Information: Incorrect
    function. (0x80070001)"
I'm using Verbatim 500GB portable hard drive. I have formatted it in NTFS file system as required by the backup tool. It has nothing
in it so it has enough space.
    Thanks

  • Surface Pro 2 Graphics driver stops apps running

    Hi,
We are having trouble with a Surface 2 Pro with Windows 8.1. Apps such as onenote, facebook and several others do not load past the splash screen(they appear open when swiping in from left).
The resolution of the tile screen appears to be lower than it should be, but all settings indicate a 1920x1080 resolution.
Disabling the graphics card fixes the problem, but causes several other undesirables. Rolling back the driver fixes the problem, but the default driver is insignificant and after every reboot/auto-update the apps stop working again. I have downloaded the
updates and service packs and manually installed the graphics driver, but the apps start to fail as soon as the graphics driver updates.
When the driver is disabled/roll backed more tiles appear on the home screen, even though the resolution is lower.
Does anyone know how i can upgrade the driver, without losing app functionality?
    Regards
    Chris

    Hi,
I have ran all updates and it says its fully updates, and I attempted to manually install device driver 10.18.10.3345,
which I downloaded from the intel site but it was 'not accredited for the platform'.
Its the 128GB version. The problem only started after upgrading to 8.1. I'll post the event logs asap.

  • Will the Apple MacBook Pro MA092LL/A be able to run Lion smoothly? Or will it weigh it down and make it run slow?

  • Using Bitlocker Data Recovery Agent (DRA) on Surface Pro 3

We currently have the Data Recovery Agent (DRA) configured in our Bitlocker Policy for our Windows 7 Systems, and it works fine. In situations where the Recovery Key for the computer object was not backed up to AD correctly for whatever reason or the computer
object was deleted, our HelpDesk can connect the encrypted drive to another system, and then use the certificate for the DRA to unlock the drive.
I'm wondering if the BitLocker DRA Certificate unlock method will work for Surface Pro 3 devices, in the case that that their computer object and normal BitLocker recovery key is deleted or missing in AD for whatever reason. Seeing as how our helpdesk can't
easily remove the internal HD from a Surface Pro 3 (I think only MS can do this?), I'm wondering if this BitLocker recovery option is still an option for Surface Pro 3's and if it is not then if there is another recommended option for Surface Pro 3's and/or
other Windows 8.1 Tablets used in an enterprise environment.

Could anyone help me to figure this out? Thanks.
Seems that the problem lies in libinput. Maybe you can report that upstream. I suggest you recompile libinput with debug info and do not strip the binaries to obtain better backtraces.
    Edit:
I have also tried running `swc-launch -- velox`, and get the following error:
    Running on /dev/tty2
velox: error while loading shared libraries: libinput.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Server exited with status 127
    Restoring VT to original state
So, perhaps I am having some libinput trouble. Does this seem correct?
Well, that's a different problem. libinput has several soname bumps because of API and ABI incompatibility. You have to rebuild swc against the newest libinput. (Although I'm not sure if swc developer updated the code to new API)
    Edit 2:
Just to tack this on here for `gnome-session --session=gnome-wayland --debug`
I'm not expert on this, it may be related to libinput problem. If you don't include GDK_BACKEND=wayland environment variable when launching gnome-wayland.

  • Surface pro 3 question

which surface pro 3 is good enough to run illustrator cc ?
there is quite a price difference between the basic model and the top of the line model

I have the I7 256GB model and it works just fine. The I5 may work, but I don't really recommend less than 8GB of ram. You will find the more ram the better. As it makes your entire system run faster. Unfortunately Microsoft only offers a 4GB or an 8GB model. It would be quite cool to be able to add more ram later on. Which you can not do. Though you can use a micro SD card for additional drive space. Frankly I should have gone with the 512GB drive as it would give me more options for what apps I can install.

  • Trust Relationship Failed after Upgrading Surface Pro to Win 8.1

I upgraded a Surface Pro to Windows 8.1 a few days ago. After the upgrade we are getting an error that says that "the trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed". The Surface was joined to a Windows Server 2012 Essentials
domain network before upgrading to Win 8.1.
I brought the tablet back to my own office which is off the DC network and now it logs in without any problem, obviously using Cached Credentials.
    I found this
blog post but I couldn't determine how it applies to my specific case. I do have a local Administrator's account that I can access.
What could be causing this problem and what steps should I take to resolve it?

I had someone else have a similar issue with a PC not surface and the solution was to disjoin it from the domain from rejoin it. I think that the upgrade process doesn't seem to retain all the settings correctly as my colleague lost some other stuff too
during the upgrade. I've not tested it myself so can't really comment - but disjoin and rejoin should resolve the issue you are having. (I'm not sure why the person on the blog advises against this, as although there are other ways as mentioned - i've never
had much success, whereas disjoin and rejoin fixes pretty quick.) Maybe others will share their thoughts on this.

  • When Will Microsoft Fix The Problem With Hosted Networking on a Surface Pro 3?

    Surface Pro 3 512GB
    Windows 8.1 with all patches.
The following is from this thread:

A Microsoft member said it would be better to raise it in technet.
    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=test key=12345678
The hosted network mode has been set to allow.
The SSID of the hosted network has been successfully changed.
The user key passphrase of the hosted network has been successfully changed.
    netsh wlan start hostednetwork
The hosted network couldn't be started.
A device attached to the system is not functioning
One of the comments in the thread said:
"I have the same issue on a Surface pro 3.
It is related to the fact that they removed VAP support from the wifi driver."
Now a new wifi driver was included with the latest firmware update (01/15/2015) but it did not fix the problem.
    I
Please note this is a Surface Pro 3 problem as it works on a Surface Pro 2 running Windows 8.1.
This problem has been reported to Microsoft by me and I was told "the developers are working on it."  That was six months ago.  I see posts going back a year saying the problem was reported to Microsoft Support.
    When will this be fixed?

Do you have a case number? From
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro2-surfnetwork/how-do-i-get-the-wireless-hosted-network-feature/03657fe5-b8c1-48c5-940a-ae3e13ffe25f
you've had a couple of contacts with support.
If you provide case numbers, it would be helpful in escalating further. And more
specifically, it might help someone from Microsoft determine IF the issue has
been escalated. While Microsoft has been doing work on the wifi driver for
nearly the entire time since the SP3 was released, there is no information
anywhere as to whether this bug is known or not.
As you also know, I sent it in to the"right" people inside Microsoft and as you
also know, I did not get a response. (I'm an end user just like you even though

  • Can we access CM 14.0.2 on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3? It will have Microsoft 8.1 Pro on it.

My name is Cynthia and I work for Chicago Public Schools. We have approximately 400 users of the Primavera CM system. We've had challenges along the way with compatibility issues, but now here's a question I don't have an answer to.
Is the Surface Pro 3 any different and what are the Java requirements?

Hi Cynthia, Unfortunately CM 14.0.x has not been tested/certified against Win 8.1 as a web app server. Also there is no certification for integrating CM with MS Surface Pro. For more further information, please submit a SR within CM tech support. Regards, Matías G. Uribe.

  • Surface Pro Windows 8.1 Will Not Shutdown

    Hello All:
I'm having a problem with a Surface Pro that will not shutdown. It says it's shutting down, but it doesn't. I touch the screen after long periods of time after issuing a shutdown & it's waiting to log back in. Restart works as advertised.
Anyone got some tips to troubleshoot this? Thanks for any feedback.

I found it - "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" was turned on. This is a terrible (and not recommended by IT admins) setting to have turned on by default. Does MS even need to mess w/the shutdown buttons/process? First the Office Ribbon, then
    the Start button, now this!
People are creatures of habit - keep things the same or @ least allow them to change it back to how they're used to!
Sorry for the rant, but YEESH already!

  • Trouble with deploying Win 8.1 and Office 2013 to Surface Pro 2

Setup; Win2012R2, WDS 6.3.9600.16384, MDT 2013 (6.2.5019.0), Surface Pro 2 128GB, MS USB Ethernet adapter
Issue 1: the TFTP transfer of the PE image is Extremely slow. 10 Mbps. Have tried to adjust Maximum Block Size without any improvement.
Issue 2: When I try to deploy both Windows 8.1 and Office 2013 the TS fails. It will not (start) installing the Application - the log confirms that it starts the script, but ends up with ZTI Heartbeat forever.
If I install Windows first and after the OS installation connect to the MDT server and start a TS With just Office 2013 it works without problem.
The disturbing part here is that if I use the same TS With both OS and Office on a Hyper-V Virtual machine it works...
    Have anyone seen this before?

  • Move CC from Win 7 laptop to Surface Pro 3 Win 8.1

    Hello all,
I subscribe to the full CC and I am going to be moving files from a Win 7 laptop to a Win 8.1 Surface Pro 3 in the next week or so and I was wondering...The laptop is my secondary or mobile production machine and it's also used in training adult photography students.  I would prefer to NOT disable the Adobe applications on the laptop prior to completing install and testing on the new machine.  I do understand the license is for two machines but my questions are these.  If the laptop is not powered up and running, would I be able to activate the applications on the new machine to be sure that they function as expected?  Or would I need to test them in the trial mode?  If this is the case, is there any functionality that is not operational while in the trial?  Are there any 'GOTCHAs' in doing this that I should know about from Adobe?
    Advice and direction is appreciated!
