Will not eject CD- DVD

Just bought a 20" and after setting up I find that the puter won't eject discs.
So... I go through the troubleshooting and guess what? The disc reader-writer isn't lined up with the slot...
The housing and the hole are not lined up, so , when I try to eject a disc it reloads after it has bounced off the side of the casing housing the puter.
If I grip the back of the puter between my fingers and put pressure on then the disc just manages to squeeze past and out.
I am not happy about this

Am I expected to squeeze the casing everytime I want to eject a disc, is this a part of the design?

I live in the UK and am very busy with my work not related to the puter.
This is a physical obstruction to the ejection of the disc caused by the housing,
I would prefer not to go through the hassle of returning the puter if it were possible for me to re-align the housing and the slot.
I've tried to do this and failed to achieve a permanent solution, I have to grasp the front and back of the puter for the disc to eject.....

Is there a manual eject to get the DVD out? If not, then is there another way to get the DVD to eject?

When you touch the eject "button" on front, do you
hear it trying to eject, or any response?
If the eject "button" on monitor does not work,
the back could be opened up, and drive removed,
then drive opened up and disk removed.
I have had to do this on imacs with slot load optical drive.
There is a hardware replacement guide for that model,
which shows how to open the back, etc.

Be aware that the drive may be faulty and need replacement.
If you are not confident doing work on it, find a good repair shop.

2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

Your DVD won't eject?
Restart the MacBook - as it is restarting, hold the trackpad button down. This will force it to eject. The disk should eject before you get to the login screen or desktop.

Most users find that when the eliminate the third-party kernel extensions, they eliminate the kernel panics.
The black screens could also be caused by your graphics card beginning to go.

DVD will not eject

A DVD in the slot-loading drive will not eject. My iBook reads the disk as it appears on my desktop and I can play the DVD. But as soon as I hit the eject key (F12), it makes a weird sound, like it's trying to eject, but the DVD will not eject. Can some one tell me what I can do? I have tried all the normal procedures, like holding the track pad while starting up, doing the Firmware thing at start-up, etc... All I get is the weird spinning sound, but no disk ejected. When open firmware doesn't work, it sounds like a hardware problem with the ejector. I would take the machine into service and let them know you tried the open firmware method.

And note that disks which have been written on by sharpie or other type of pen, or a sticky applied to them can cause the drive to age prematurely. DVD Will Not Eject, iDVD Restarts Itself Over and Over

I have a DVD that simply will not eject itself no matter what. Instead, it starts to eject, then iDVD starts up, and begins to play the DVD. I have unchecked "Start DVD" in iDVD's preferences and reviewed the forum articles about stuck DVDs. Reboot does not help Safe Boot does not help. Restart wth right mouse button held down does not help, perhaps because my mouse is Apple and there is no Right Mouse Button?
I'm not about to enter terminal commands because I have no idea of what I'm ding at teh system level. Any ideas?

HI,
Try restarting your iMac while holding down the eject key.
If that didn't help, open Disk Utility (Applications / Utilities).
Select the disk on the left side of the window then click the Blue eject button in the menu.

After backing up the machine, I took what I thought was the correct installation disk and booted from the CD/DVD. I erased the hard disk using the Disk Utility. Then I tried to reboot to install the original operating system. After several hours I received the message: Cannot install Mac OS X on this machine. The computer was running 10.4.3 before I erased it. I don't understand why the restore to factory settings didn't work. Now I have another problem. The CD/DVD does not eject. Hello, hold the mouse button down while booting up to eject it.
The original Disc would be gray.
If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...
