Will there be any updates for ipod touch 2nd generation
i have the ipod touch 2nd generation and was wondering if there will be any updates or any fixes for that generation of ipod?
iOS 5 will definitely not support the 2nd-generation iPod touch. They list the supported devices at the bottom of this page:

I find it very messed up that Apple is inputting these restrictions, because they want people to buy the latest versions of their gadgets. There is nothing unusual about this at all.
As with any tv, computer, dvd player, car,etc the older hardware is simply not capable of running the latest software.
This is normal.
The second gen was released over 4 years ago. -

I was downloading updates for Ipod touch 2nd gen and when the process was to the processing files point the screen changed and I wasn't given any idea as to whether the process was complete or not and if it was what was to be done next. I needed to reset the Ipod and now I am wondering what to do . Spend another Hour downloading and whatever amount on processing files and end up where I am now . Whats the next step in finding out what to do? This was the second attempt to do this with the first try happening the same except I am not sure how long the processing files part was.. Any suggestions as to what to try will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks
Likely a batter problem since high temperatures destroy a battery. I wold make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to see what they say. It is free except for your time.

Verify you have a 2G and not a 1G. The 1G does not have volume buttons one the upper left edge and does not have an internal speaker

Like any other device that uses software, the older hardware cannot run the newest software.
This is completely normal in every way.
You do not have to buy every year. The 3rd gen was released two and a half years ago and can run ios 5.
