Will you get charged for in Airplane Mode outside of the US?

Will I get charged if I put my iPhone into Airplane Mode when traveling outside of the United States?

Why would you be charged?   The phone wont be able to send or receive any calls or data.

iTunes in the Cloud is not yet available for all stores: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

This is not true. Content can and is removed from the iTunes Store by copyright holders, for various reasons, at any time. When this happens the purchased items are no longer available in the purchase history. This is why it is a good idea to always download all purchases and back them up locally.

you are entitled to a refund for that purchase.
    This certainly is not true.

  • How do you get charge for visual voicemail?

After reading a couple of post and being completely confused by them I tried an experiment. I turn airplane mode on and then proceed to check my voicemail from earlier.
The voicemail played without me connecting to AT$T. So this verifies that the actual voicemail is someone being pushed over to your phone. WHich explains why you can now play the voicemail in any order. (it's like playing songs like your ipod basically)
So then here's the question: DO we still get charged for listening to the message itself?
ON a traditional cell phone everytime you listen to a voicemail message you lose airtime according to how long you listen to that message. No with the iphone things are different. Voicemails are storage on the handset and not located at at&t.
Based on what i am reading there are two parts to the visual voicemail. 1.) the actual service that is "pushing" the voice messages to the iphone and 2.) listening to the messages
Since the message is already on the iphone there is no way for at&t track how many times or how long you've been listening to your voicemail.
So 2 things can happen. 1.) the visual voicemail plan actually covers the whole thing. Listening to messages on the phone and the service that does the pushing.
or 2.) as someone earlier posted, you still get charged for voicemail. It's charged before it's been pushed to your phone. So if X calls me and leaves me a 5 minute message, i will lose 5 minutes of airtime before before i even had a change to check the message.
NOw if number is true then that would suck.
Can someone verify if this is true

you don't get charged per message.
There's a flat rate fee for the visual voicemail service that is included in the $20/month iPhone data plan.
The information gets sent via the Edge network to your phone, where it is stored until you delete it.

  • Should I return my iPod touch? And If I do return mi iPod Touch, will I get charged for getting a new one? The problem is that my iPod won't turn on, it only shows the apple icon, then immediately shuts off. I have a 1 year guarantee, a

  • Will I get charged for going over the CC limit?

I have a CC that I just basically maxed out without going over the limit but was real close.  I want to know if when they calculate the interests on the debt with that put me over the limit on the card which will then trigger them to charge me a fee for going over the limit? I know I should not do this but I have a check coming in a couple of months that will clear the debt completely so no worries there. Thanks in advance

It depends on the terms on the card.  Most of them have an over the limit fee.  The will charge interest on your statement date which is usually a couple days after your due date. I would pay as much as I can by the due date.  No, since the CARD act, they DON'T have over the limit fees, unless you opt in.  (If you don't, charges over the CL can be denied).   So you should be fine.Sorry to give out wrong info.  I think I'll stop posting from now on. There is absolutely no reason for you to stop posting.  We all have once upon a time posted wrong info so there isn't any shame in doing so.  The point of the forum is to learn and not everyone is aware of the provisions of the Card Act, myself included.

  • Do you get charged for an sms if you dont open it?

for example i send a lot of text messages to europe, where it's 20 cents a message..so if i send and get a reply, that's 40 cents in one pop
i have an international text messaging plan with 100 texts for 10 bucks but i definitely exceed it by a lot since most of my family and friends live in europe
the good parts about the iphone sms is that you have the preview when it says TEXT MESSAGE RECEIVED..but often, the preview is more than enough to see what the other person is trying to tell me
for example if ask my cousin a yes/no question and he replies YES, i dont need to open that sms, since i see his answer in the preview, so i just delete the message altogether...or if he writes WHERE R U? again, i can see his whole message without having to open his meesage
this comes in handy when i send 500 messages to europe at 20 cents per message expecially when 75% of their replies can be seen in the preview..if i do the math, it adds up
    thanks

Yes, the phone has already received it. That's why you can see the first piece of it.
Your desire reminds me of when I was young and long distance was very expensive. So people came up with a couple of work arounds.
For example, if you knew a baby was due, you'd arrange by letter that once it came, you'd call and ring once for a boy, twice for a girl, and then hang up. Trucking companies used the "ring count" method extensively for letting their dispatcher know where they were, etc. Phone companies hated it.
Another common scheme that required a bit of operator cooperation at times, was to call collect with a bogus name. For example, "Hi I'd like to call Klondike 1234 in Houston Texas, collect please. My name is Miss You." Or "My name is Itza Boya" Or just a code name like "Bill Oscar Young" that meant or spelled out ("boy") something.
When the recipient got the collect call, they'd listen to the name for the hidden message, then refuse the call.
    Such were the early days.

  • Is WIFI free on the KIN (Do you get charged for data?)

I have no data plan and I just checked my #DATA information and it states I have used .871MB.
I know this amount costs 1.99$/MB
    BUT
I accidentally surfed on the VERIZON Web Access for a website or two before I closed out. From then on I was connected to a WIFI network and I have DATA turned OFF in settings.  Is WIFI free to surf or do you incur data fees while using WIFI?
FYI:  I just called the Verizon Wireless REP and she had no idea and told me that both cost money.  I asked her why I would use WIFI if they both cost the same because Verizon Web Access can be used anywhere where WIFI cannot, and she had no response.

If you using WiFi only (data off) you are NOT incurring data charges.  The rep was incorrect (how do they train these people).  Browsing a couple of web pages could definitely accounted for the .871MB the system says you have used.

  • Do you get charged for using AT&T's EDGE network ?

Or can you only use WI-FI for free?
Also, I'm trying to use wi-fi at college, but I need some kind of number to give to my teacher so then he can give me a password to unlock it. Any ideas? Thx!

You can use EDGE for internet access anywhere that you have cell phone reception.
You can use WiFi access only when within range of an available WiFi network that you have been granted access to - either a free WiFi network (password protected or not) such as the WiFi network at your school or via a paid WiFi network that you have paid the required fee in order to gain access.
WiFi networks have limited range - many within 150 feet or so of the wireless router which I've found to be somewhat less with the iPhone when compared to accessing the same using a laptop with wireless card but WiFi access provides much faster internet access or data transfer speed.
EDGE access is similar to a fast dial-up connection.

  • I changed credit card, will it be charged for purchases made immediately prior to the change?

I changed my credit card info for billing.  Just a few minutes before that I made several purchases.  Will the purchases be charged to the new card or the old one?

I have $25 from a gift card, and would like to buy some extra cash in a game I am playing. (If it needs to be specified: Dragons World for crystals) and will it show up on the phone bill?
No. Purchases from the iTunes Store have nothing to do with your phone service and will not appear on the phone bill.
    Regards.

  • What do I get charged for buying songs

I see the price of a song, but do I get charged for something else? What is the process buying a song?

The price you will be charged will be what is listed against it - unless you are in the US in which case you need to add on your state's sales tax. There are no other charges.
But each time that you add or change the credit card details on your account then you might see a small temporary store holding charge applied to it to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - but that is temporary, it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.
    Store holding charge : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702
To buy a song just click on its price, and if you are not already logged into your iTunes account then you will be prompted to do so, otherwise you will just be asked for your password - if you make another purchase within 15 minutes of entering your password then you won't be asked to re-enter it. The song will then download into the Music section of your iTunes library

  • How do I delete a download and not get charged for it?

I am trying to download 2 rentals but it's taking to long. How can I delete the downloads on my ipad and not get charged for them so I can download the same rentals on my laptop?

I've never rented a film and I'm not sure that you can restart the download on your computer. From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
Whether that applies to fully downloaded rentals and/or partial downloads I don't know.
