Win 7 pro installation on mac

I am wondering that is it possible to install win 7 to part of my hd and get it back to combine with my original partition when i decide to uninstall win 7?
Another but less important issue is can i use my magic mouse's wheel feature in win 7 cause i tried to use on a pc today and it didn't work. only left and right click worked.
And last, can you name the most common problems if I try to install win 7 to my mac or there is no known issue it is just perfectly working?

Yes. You can use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition to install Windows 7 on and then use Boot Camp Assistant to uninstall and remove the Windows partition.

Can't answer because I don't have a magic mouse.

  • Win 7 Pro Installation on HP Pavillion 15 E077SG - Help required pls

I like to install Win 7 Pro 64 on the above Laptop, but have noticed that HP does not support that with drivers.
Does anyone know, if it is generally possible to install Win 7 on this laptop and where to get the drivers from?
If more info is required pls. let me know.
    Thx in advance

Yes it is possible but not advised. We can locate Windows 7 drivers for slightly earlier models with the same hardware or by finding the plug and play hardware ID and hunting them down on the internet. Also just installing Windows 7 is not nearly as straightforward as it once was. You have to make adjustments in the BIOS which compromise the security of the system to some extent.
Rather than switch to Windows 7 I suggest you look into one of the skin programs that will restore a Start button to Windows 8 and will boot into the desktop rather than the "Metro" interface. With those changes Windows 8 is actually very useable, and is more secure and faster than Windows 7.
    http://www.classicshell.net/
Still, if you must do this we are of course here to help. But I have been there and back and no longer attempt to downgrade Windows 8 machines unless somebody insists.  Some of my colleagues are actually running Windows 8 in my office and I would not alow that unless I was comfortable with it and all our software ran OK on it.

  • Copy iTunes from win 7 pro to new Mac Pro?

Have all my work on my iPhone 5s. Do nothing but manually syncing on lates iTunes. What to copy iTunes to new Mac Pro so I can use my iPhone on either computer.
Laptop at work and desktop at home.
All store bought music on C drive in iTunes as it should be along with books etc. but about 8 gbs of my ripped music some mp3 some ACC all at 320 is on my internal drive.
First thought is change iTunes setting to CONSOLIDATE hoping D drive music will go into iTunes properly.
While I searched KB I came up flat. I like a clean organized computer. While I know windows vert well I am new to Mac pros (but not iPhones nor iOS 7)..
Any way I can do this cleanly. I can put a full backup of iTunes onto a USB hard drive I use for 3rd back up off pictures and iTunes
    Thank you

does anyone know how this can be done please?

  • Acrobat Pro Installation on Mac

I have Yosemite 10.10.2. I am having trouble downloading the Acrobat Pro XI.
I downloaded Indesign and Photoshop with no problem
When it starts to download for acrobat it pauses at 42% a window pops up and says to close SafariNotifici and retry. I have closed all my windows and Safari is not running and I can't get Acrobat to install. It basically stalls at 42%. I tried restarting and make sure to close all programs but, I get the same thing. Does anyone have a solution.
I am new to Mac computers so if anyone could help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi evilomens7,
Could you please provide a screenshot so that i can look into this issue. Moreover I would recommend you to open Activity Monitor on your Mac and close any instances of Safari that might be open and then try again.

  • Win 7 Pro (via Parallels 6), Snow Leopard, and a USB thumb drive

This is probably a simple fix...
When I plug in a thumb drive, Snow Leopard recognizes it.  When I tell Parallels to "share" the same thumb drive, Win 7 Pro installs the driver and it recognizes the thumb drive under "Devices."  But Win 7 Pro does not "see" the thumb drive under "My Computer."
Is this an issue with Win 7 Pro not recognizing the thumb drive since the drive was formatted under Snow Leopard?

Check to see what format your thumb drive was formatted as...most of the time the format is MS-DOS (FAT32) when purchasing the majority of thumb drive storage...I want to assume at some point you reformatted your thumb drive as Mac OS Extended.
    1. Mount thumb drive onto your mac...hilight your thumb drive and choose COMMAND-I.
    2. Check the Format field: (type of format).
If your thumb drive ends up being Mac OS Extended...backup all your files onto your desktop, lauch Disk Utility, Choose your thumb drive and format as MS-DOS (FAT). Copy files back to your thumb drive.
You now have yourself a dual format thumb drive that should mount without issue on any mixed Mac/PC/Parallels enviroment.

  • Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro on W530

My W530 arrives in a few days.  It is pre-configured for Win 7 Pro, but comes with a Win 8 Pro installation DVD.
I know Win-7 reasonably well.  I've installed Win-8 on several laptops, keeping what's good (the updated OS), adding the "start" button, and rarely, if ever, dealing with the "Metro" screen.
For those of you who have used both, is the W530 equally useful with either OS, or is there a good reason to use one other than the other?
I assume all the future development from Microsoft will be going towards Win-8, the new "Windows Blue" that will be available sometime soon, and that Win-7 will eventually get much less attention.  I think that's a good reason to start out with Windows 8 now, unless the W530 works better with the older OS.
Any advice from people who have used both?

    Hi mikemyers
If you are still using some legacy applications or games, it is better to use Windows 7. (Some of the current games are still not compatible for Windows 8)
If you are only using new applications, it is better to use Windows 8 as it provides better overall and much better startup performance.
Personally, with the start button with "StartIsBack", I would prefer Windows 8 for better performance and battery life.

  • Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem won't work

Another issue with this A30 Satellite notebook
The built in modem doesn't work.
    *Explanation:*
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as 'Toshiba software modem amr' and is setted on com3 port.
When I click on 'diagnostic' and 'ask modem' (the right labels may be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window appears saying it's impossible to open the door (port) which the modem is connected to.
I have tried to change the modem com port to different numbers but the problem is the same.
I don't know whether the modem is an actual board connected in some way to the main board or is just built on the main board. If it would be the first case, I could change it ad see. btw, the mini pci slot is already occupied by the gigabyte Wi-Fi board, so the modem must be somewhere else.
It is strange, since I did at least 2 other win xp pro installations on this machine, always downloading and installing the proper drivers, and the modem never has worked.
    Thanks
    S.

  • Problem installing Win XP Pro SP2 on 2008 Mac Pro running 10.6.8

Okay, I have never setup or ran a bootcamp partition so I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the subject. I have been attempting to install win xp pro (SP2). I am using the Boot Camp Assistant  v3.0.4. I have created a 32GB FAT32 partition and at the point I click Continue Installation (with the XP Pro disc in the drive) the computer reboots to supposedly install.
What happens instead is I get a revolving censorship/ban circle icon, folder with question mark and apple logo. It just continuously will flash between those 3 icons until I restart.
    Here's what I've tried...
-removing all other drives. I'm attempting to install on the boot drive which is in bay 1.
-removed all external devices only things plugged in are my usb keyboard and DVI monitor
    -deleting and recreating the partition
-I have the xp pro cd in the top drive and the snow leopard cd in the bottom drive (both internal cd/dvd drives)

No matter what I try I am met with the same results. I have held down the option key and manually selected the windows xp cd. It seems to be booting but immediately turns off my DVI monitor which, well, makes it impossible for me to actually know what is happening. I do have a nvidia GeForce 8800 which only has two DVI ports off the back. I do have the adapter and an old VGA monitor I could pull out of the attic but would rather not unless that is my only option. Can someone in the community please point me in the right direction?
    Many, many, many thanks!

    OKC, OK

Update: my problem was solved by getting my VGA monitor out of the attic. Once windows was done and I ran the setup.exe off the Snow Leopard CD, all of the drivers were updated to allow me to switch back over to my apple cinema display.
Also, I did need to hold down the option key to select the windows CD to install...and again to select the windows partition to boot but so far everything is going well with Bootcamp 3.0.4 and XP SP2...other than it is windows.

  • X100e win xp pro usb installation problem

Hello to all, i am new here and sorry for not not introducing myself properly bu this is urgent situation.
Few days ago i bought Lenovo x100e Netbook
    Product ID: 35086AG
    Athlon MV40(1.6GHz), 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 11.6in 1366x768 LCD, ATI Radeon HD2200, 802.11bgn wireless, WWAN upgradeable, Bluetooth, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, 3c Li-Ion, WinXP Home 32
here is link from lenovo driver download site for this netbook:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/quickPath.do?quickPathEntry=35086AG
Netbook came with preinstalled Win. XP Home edition and i was going to install Win. XP Professional.
So i created bootable USB stick Win. XP Pro. installation (cause this netbook dont have internal cd drive) and booted on startup and started installation.
Installation was going smooth -> i choosed C partition, formated it and after formatting next message shows up:
"The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is
    corrupted or missing:
Value 0 on the line in section [SourceDiskFiles]
    with key "SSA.exe."
Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3."
So as you can see...i can't go on with installation and problem is the disk is already formatted and i have nothing on it, no OS no nothing.

  • Win 8 Pro on Windpad 110W installation troubleshooting, PLEASE HELP

Please bare w/ me for a moment to give you a little history. I've got a 110W w/ Win 8 RP on it. I bought the Windpad used. The previous owner put replacaed the original hard drive w/ a 120GB, and I've been quite pleased w/ its performance. Initially it came w/ the Win 8 CP, and I downloaded the upgraded RP a couple months ago when all my Metro Apss quit working on CP. Now I'd finally like to upgrade to Win 8 Pro and be finished. I'm also attempting to change from the 32-bit OS to the 64-bit. Here is where I encounter trouble. If I try to install it from w/in the current OS it detects I'm running 32-bit and halts the installation w/ an error message. Therefore I've put the 3.3GB Win 8 Pro 64-bit.iso file on a USB thumb drive and am attempting to boot it from outside the OS, and bypass its detection. (as a side note: the reason I want the 64-bit is because I'd like to upgrade the RAM to 8GB). Anyhow, the previous owner also installed a dual boot for the device called Android-x86 which i don't care to have anymore as it really hasn't been a practical Android experience. Unlike my Android experiences w/ other tablets and phones; I love Android. Furthermore this dual boot has partitioned the hard drive too and a few GBs are dedicated to the Android portion. I'd like to do away with this Android-x86 dual boot, but am not sure how. Finally, I hooked up a keyboard and the USB drive w/ Win 8 Pro to the USB port via a USB hub, and selected F11 when the tablet loaded up. I was able to select between loading the USB drive or the SSD. I chose the USB hoping it would start a fresh install of WIN 8 Pro 64-bit. It didn't it went to the next screen that always appears after the MSI boot-loader image; the Android-x86 screen where it defaults to boot windows if I don't select Android after 5 seconds. I just want to be done w/ the Android-x86, and get a clean install of Win 8 Pro only on my machine. Any tips, pointers, or guidance in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rick

I'm going to attempt to recover the system w/ the Win 7 DVD recovery discs that come w/ the MSI machine, since that version of Win 7 is 64-bit. I don't have an external DVD drive so I'm putting the files on my USB stick, and hoping that I can just install them on the Windpad from it. If Win 7 successfully installs, because it's already 64-bit, I can just upgrade over the internet w/o getting the Microsoft error message that I can't install a 64-bit OS on a 32-bit system. I hope this works!

  • Can't complete a clean installation of WIN 7 PRO on an Acer Aspire 4738

    Hello,
If any one could help me with this problem i would really appreciate it.
I have an Acer Aspire 4738-6888 (icore 5, 3GB RAM, 500GB HD), it was running win 7 ultimate 32 bits but started working erratically so i decided to perform a clean installation. HD was formatted entirely.
Then tried installing WIN 7 PRO 64 bits from a DVD, but the installation program does not load and shows a kernel error oxc0000098
It is funny that if i use a WIN 7 PRO 32 bits DVD, the installation programs loads and starts, everything seems to run normally (HD partitions can be created and formatted, Files are expanded and configuration begins) but just after the third restart
when the assistant shows the message " preparing to run windows for the first time " the blue screen appears showing a "Memory_Management" error. Tried one more time but using a WIN 7 ULTIMATE 32 bits DVD with same results.
Finally, I tried using the "repair option" from the DVD and get this message:
    StartupRepairOffline

    Hi GustavoCh,
What issue did you meet so you want to reinstall?
Could you please use the Windows install image to install Windows in other computer or virtual machine? So we can make sure this issue is not caused by the image.
I think this issue is related to hardware, please contact the manufacturer for better help.
