Win 7 won't recognize Japanese Apple Keyboard

Hi
I have installed Windows 7 on my iMac using Bootcamp. As I frequently type in Japanese in my Mac environment I have an Apple Japanese USB Keyboard attached. Windows 7 only recognizes it as a Apple US keyboard. Does anyone know how to change? I have enabled Japanese keyboard in the Win7 language section but there is no choice for an Apple Japanese Keyboard. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I think there is somebody who created a Mac Japanese keyboard layout that you can install in Windows for this purpose, but I can't seem to find the reference any more....

  • Won't recognize usb apple keyboard

I have an Apple usb keyboard.  My system is constantly searching for a wireless keyboard and while that is happening, the keyboard is disabled.  I have tried everything I know to do via preferences and so forth.  The only solution is a restart.  This has never been a permanent fix.  I am not sure if anything I am doing is triggering this issue.

First look in System Preferences - Blootooth and see if a wireless keyboard is mentioned, if so remove it from the preference. Next restart the computer and while at it reset the SMC and PRAM. If you are unfamiliar with these resets please click iMac SMC and PRAM reset for instructions.

  • New Mac mini won't see old Apple Keyboard/Mouse

Just got a brand new macmini, got my apple display plugged into it and working, turned it on. It recognized my apple wireless mouse for a couple clicks, then when I got the screen to enter in the serial number, it wouldn't recognize my keyboard. And now it doesn't recognize the mouse either.
I brought home a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo from work and was able to setup the server that way, but it still won't recognize my Apple brand keyboard/mouse that worked fine on my old PowerBook. I've rebooted several times.
    Any ideas?

    Hello mc:
The devices, if paired with another system, need to be deleted from the Bluetooth preferences (you need to disconnect them in the BT preference pane and then delete them). Then a restart should begin the connect/pair sequence.
BT devices may only paired with one system at a time.

  • Tiger won't recognize Japanese IME keys

I'm using OS X 10.4.6 with a Japanese keyboard. I need to switch between Kotoeri and USA input methods frequently. On this keyboard which I have imported from Japan, there are buttons specifically for this purpose.
However, I cannot make Tiger recognize the keys. If I select "Japanese JIS keyboard with input method keys" from the keyboard preferences, everything works fine except for the keys next to the spacebar and the key to the left of the '1' key.
In keyboard viewer there are just holes where these keys should be. "power", "sleep" and "wake" seem just fine. What can I do to fix this?

    If
I select "Japanese JIS keyboard with input method
keys" from the keyboard preferences, everything works
fine except for the keys next to the spacebar and the
key to the left of the '1' key.
Exactly where are these preferences that mention a JIS keyboard? I don't see them on my machine.
I have heard of machines not recognizing a JIS layout at all, in which case resetting the PMU may fix it. But your problem seems different, if everything works right except a couple keys.
As a temporary work-around, you should be able to switch between US and Kotoeri using Apple + space (or whatever you have set in the shortcuts prefs for the Select Previous Input Source function).

  • IPhone won't recognize new Apple ID

I updated my desktop iTunes to the new Apple ID - added an @aol.com to the end - per the new "rules". Now my iPhone 4s will not recognize my new password and prompts me to update my account when I type the old one. Can't update apps or sign into iTunes on my phone. I keep getting the pop-up "You need to update your account with iTunes Desktop." I've done that. When the prompt pops up for me to enter my password to update my apps it says my ID WITHOUT the @aol.com, which leads me to believe my phone doesn't "know" my "new" username. I've done soft resets on the phone (two), signed in and out of everything associated with iTunes and iCloud and tried putting in passwords dating back to a year. It won't recognize my new password but throws the "you need to update" prompt up when I try to use an old password. HALP.

I have taken the steps you said to do, but my iPhone is not recognizing my "old" password that I need to put in to turn off "Find my iPhone." I can't sign out. Which means I can't sign back in. I am able to sign in to forums like this with my new apple ID. But I can't get into my iCloud on my laptop. It seems like in order to try to deal with this problem I have changed my ID and password so many times that now I can barely log in anywhere. Should I just go to a Verizon or Apple store? Can they override my system and reset everything or something?

  • IMessage won't recognize my apple password.

Can't get iMessage or face time to work. Neither of these programs will recognize my apple login. Anyone know how to fix this?

When I try to use iMessage or face time they ask for my Apple password. When I put the password in it comes back with message "face time activation. Could not sign in. Please check you network connection and try again." The iMessage gives the same message. Wifi is running And other apps like this safari are working.

  • My computer won't recognize my new keyboard, my computer won't recognize my new keyboard

I just blew out my old tiny keyboard that came with my iMac.  I went out today and bought a new full sized keyboard from Best Buy with the alphanumeric keys.  I followed the instructions which read:
    Setting up your keyboard
Plug the USB cable from your keyboard into an available USB port on your Mac
Choose Apple>Software Update from the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions.
When installation is complete and you've restarted you Mac, use Software Update again to make sure all of the available updates are installed.
I followed these instructions, and the best that I got told is that my iTunes was out of date, which I updated.  My keynboard is working (obviously, I was able to post this),  but it isn't recognizing the new placement of the volume buttons and such.  How do I fix this?
    Thanks!
P.S.  I just realized from posting this question that my version of OSX - 10.5.8 is quite out of date -- if someone wouldn't mind directing me on how to update this, I'd be more than happy -- thank you anyone who is able to help me work through these issues.

Oops, well, there goes that idea......
The only other thing that occurs to me is that your OS is indeed totally outdated and won't be able to work with the keys of a newer keyboard.
What is your Mac model (exact specs)? If it meets these requirements, you can purchase Snow Leopard (10.6) on a retail disk from various online resellers as well as the Apple store for about $29 - these requirements are both for Lion (10.7) and there is a link for 10.6:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949
If your machine were to qualify for Lion, please note that although 2 GB RAM is noted, in reality you really need to have 4 GB if you want it to run smoothly. And, if you do want Lion, you have to buy Snow Leopard first, update to 10.6.8 which includes the Mac App Store and then purchase/download Lion there.

  • Photoshop CS2 for Win 7 won't recognize file type

I scanned some images using Phtoshop CS2 and saved them in Photoshope as jpgs. But apparently photoshop interpretted the end of the file name that I typed as a file extension - so a file that was called Portrait-06.22.1999 - was saved as a "1999" file as opposed to a jpg file. I can view these images in Windows Photo Viewer or Windows Live Photo gallery but they won't open in Photoshop. How do I change the file type so photoshop will recognize them? I tried just to add a JPG extension to the name of the file but that did not work. Also those photos that had this problem but were listed under "open recent" - I was able to get back in and save again as jpg and now they are fine. What to do with the others? Is there a trick or something I need to download? Thanks.

Tested an image.  Here are the results.
If you have bat.test and save it saves as bat.test.  In bridge their is no thumbnail as it is not recognized.  You can rename as bat.jpg and it then works.  Just right click and select rename.
If you have bat.test.jpg you can rename and just eliminate .test
Yes, you loose a little bit each time you save a jpg, but if you have it above 9? it is very minute.  You would probalby have to save it dozens of times to see the difference on the screen.  Depends on original pixel size and what you are going to do with it as to whether you will see any difference.

  • Dvi projector won't recognize new Apple TV

I'm trying to connect a new apple tv to this Planar projector PR5022 High-Bright XGA DLP Projector = http://www.planar.com/products/projectors/pr5022/
I have an HDMI to DVI-D cable connecting the ATV to the DVI-D input on the projector, but the projector doesn't know that the ATV is connected. It says that there is no source or input or signal when I change the source to the DVI input. Can anyone provide any help, feeback, or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
p.s. I need to know a solution ASAP.

Computer only most likely means the input is not HDCP compliant, (content protection is required for video playback).  HDMI inputs and some newer DVI equipped displays offer this.
It is possible that the frequencies that input recognizes doesn't include SMPTE rates such as 1080P, 1080i, and 720P, but that is more unlikely than the first bit.

  • Win XP won't recognize boot camp partition

    Hi,
I wanted to create a small partition to run windows apps on my new MBP. So I did using Boot Camp assistant. I chose to partition 20 gig. Everything went alright, I could see the partition in the finder.
So I went on to install windows XP. It copied files for a while but when it asks me to chose in which partition to install Win XP, I only see macintosh HD which has 130 gig left. Weird thing because the finder tells me I have 110 gig left on macintosh HD and 20 gig on bootcamp.
So I removed the bootcamp partition, repartitioned a fresh bootcamp 20 gig. Started the installation process all over again and the same thing happenned.
I don't know what to do. I also have an authentic copy of Win7 I could install but i'm not sure since the copatibility hasn't been ''approved'' by apple.
So that's about it. Any help on installing Windows (XP or 7 ... not Vista) will be very appreciated.

I see this happen from time to time, and so far, no one really knows exactly, only that XP comes in different flavors, some don't work, some will just go ahead and install... without asking where, and overtop of and wipe out the entire drive with Mac OS X along with it.
Even XP SP3, so that isn't a solution.
Me, I'd jump ahead, dump XP which is not going to be supported forever, and use Windows 7; or use a VM if possible.
But your CD needs to be exchanged / returned and no amount of incense or magic will make it suddenly work. And it is no fault of yours. It could of course be a problem with Boot Camp Assistant and how it determins and sets up and tricks Windows into seeing Master Boot Record and hides the fact it is a drive with GPT. It really is not a full fledged partition tool.
