  • WIndow scrolling and refresh issues.

    I am having problems with intermittent window scrolling and refreshing. I noticed it first in Safari but I have confirmed it is happening in other applications as well. Typically I have no problems with window scrolling and refreshing. At times however, it becomes sluggish. For instance, I will be reading a web page and attempt to scroll down and the there will be a delay of approximately one or two seconds before the window updates. This occurs whether I am using the keyboard, trackpad or mouse to scroll. There is no video tearing or graphics artifacts, just a delay followed by an updated window. During this time, moving windows also results in a delay of one or two seconds. Again, there is no tearing or artifacts, the window just appears in it's new positioning seconds later. This unfortunately makes the system near unusable as I can not accurately scroll or position. The problem occurs whether or not I have a significant number of applications and the CPU and memory usage is not abnormal. Restarting solves the problem temporarily but it still returns. Oddly, activating show desktop or show all windows via Expose eliminates the problem for some time as well until it returns later. My system is up to date with 10.5.6.
    Seems like a problem with WindowServer. Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions?

    Did you ever get an answer to your window scrolling issue. My new PowerMac seems to always have this issue now. (I just moved to the Intel platform from the G4.) Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Collapse Element on Window Scroll event?

    Hi
    I am trying to implement a functionality wherein:
    I have  a page with multiple panels. I have made the panels expand and collapse enabled.
    When I scroll my page, I would like to be able to collapse the panel, which goes out of scope.
    I tried to apply the logic of reducing the height of the panel for doing this. However, since it needs window.scrollTop to generate the condition to collapse or expand the pane, based on the position of the scroll, it is impossible at the moment.
    I found that we cannot use the window.scrollTop() functionality on SAPUI5 controls. It always ends up gving a 0 value.
    Is there any other way to implement this?
    Can someone please guide me on this??
    Here is an example of what I am trying to achieve in SAPUI5. Please help!
    Edit fiddle - JSFiddle

    Hi Anaya,
    Window.Scroll() will not work. Content in the SAPUI5 application are not directly added to body part.
    In SAPUI5 we have App view which contains Header and Section.
    The page content goes to Section. The CSS property overflow-y of Section is set to auto. so the scroll bar appears at the right side of window is the scroll bar of Section.
    Use,
    $('#id_of_section').scroll(function(){
             alert("Scrolling Happend");
    It will get the scrolling event. Here you can set the Collapsed true for your panel.

    KK

  • Not to display window scroll bar on the layout

    Hi all,
    when i am seeing the o/p layout in that i dont want to display window scroll bar kindly tell me how to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Naveen

    hi,
    sctroll bar in window can't be controlled if your layout is broader so you will need to make your layout such that it fits in the o/p window.

  • How to scroll within a datagrid without the browser window scrolling as well

    Hi,
    I have a datagrid with a vertical scrollbar. When the mouse
    is over the datagrid i'd like to use the mouse wheel to scroll
    through its contents. However when i do this the main browser
    window (which also has a vertical scrollbar) scrolls as well. How
    can i prevent the main browser window from scrolling when the mouse
    is over the datagrid so that only the contents of the datagrid
    scroll?
    Thanks

    I found some javascript code that solves this problem. Credit
    for the code has to go to the person who wrote the excellent
    article at the following link:
    http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/javascript-tutorial-the-scroll-wheel
    If you read this article the code below should make sense.
    From this article i used the hookEvent and cancelEvent
    functions. In my particular case I embed the SWF object inside a
    JSP page using some javascript code. After the SWF is loaded i
    added the following line of code:
    hookEvent('my_swf_id', 'mousewheel', handleMouseWheel);
    where handleMouseWheel is defined as follows:
    function handleMouseWheel(e)
    if (document.getElementById("my_swf_id"))
    document.getElementById("my_swf_id").focus();
    return cancelEvent(e); // This is the key to the solution...
    When the mouse is over the datagrid in the SWF i can use the
    mouse wheel to scroll its contents without the main browser window
    scrolling at the same time.
    Thanks to all who took time to post their ideas, it was
    appreciated.

  • Terminal window scrolling buffer

    (If anyone wants to know the crazy thing I'm up to, I'll try to explain.)
    I'm interested in finding out the following about the terminal window scrolling buffer:
    • The buffer's size evidently would be specified in lines. As received in MAC OS, is it set to the maximum possible? (From what I've been able to glean, as received it is limited to about 8000 lines.)
    • If not at the maximum, can the window scrolling buffer size be increased? How? (Googling this returns a lot of info on changing Terminal window characteristics, none of it particularly straightforward.)

    This is a reply to BobHarris and Camelot
    I've in fact been working in Tiger on a PPC machine -- I needed to be certain an AppleScript I'm working on is compatible.
    Based on your responses, I surmised that there have been changes in Terminal -- which I confirmed when I went to Leopard on another machine. I don't have time right at the moment, but I'll look at this issue working with Leopard as that looks like a straightforward preferences setting.
    *In the meantime, how about changing the scrolling buffer size in the Tiger version?* As I said, the default size seems to be around 8000 lines; if that can be increased significantly ("unlimited" would be the best) then I'm reasonably certain that a pretty useful improvement in the AS command "do script" will be possible -- more on this later.
    ****(LATER NOTE)
    I just checked the Intel version of Tiger, and found that Terminal was the same as for the PPC version. So this is limited to being a Tiger issue.

  • MDI Window Scrolls Bars Displayed

    We are having a problem with scroll bars displaying that we don't need or want. This happened when we converted from forms 5.0 to 6i. We have the window scroll bar properties set to "no", when-new-window-activated trigger has: SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('SITES_REF_WINDOW',WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);. We've also tried this in the when-new-form-instance - with no luck. We've also played around with canvas and window sizing. How do we get rid of these extra scroll bars??

    If you are in Client Server you can run in Single Document Interface mode - USESDI=YES on the command line

  • Skype 7.0 not using Windows scroll wheel settings

    Exactly what it says on the tin.  In the mouse options for Windows, you can set your mousewheel to scroll a given number of lines per "tick" of the wheel.  The default is three lines per tick, but many users increase this (personally, I use 6).  Normally, this affects virtually anything with a scroll bar including system windows, web browsers, text editors, and previous versions of Skype.  Since updating to Skype 7.0 this behavior is no longer present, causing Skype windows to scroll at roughly one line per tick rather than the number set in Windows.  It isn't an enormous usability issue, but it feels like scrolling through molassas (Skype windows scroll at roughly 1/6 the rate of others for me, and each scrolling motion moves me only one or two messages either way), is very annoying, and throws off the seamless nature of the Windows UI. Neither restarting Skype nor altering the setting have caused it to pick up on it, which suggests to me that Skype is simply ignoring it rather than this being an individual issue or update hiccough.  This behavior is occurring on both Windows 7 (64) and Windows 8.1 (64).  Can someone confirm to me whether this behavior is universal for Skype 7.0, and if so whether there's any chance of it being fixed in the near future?  The new UI is pretty, but I'm not exactly in love with many of the design decisions (could the chat windows possibly have been less efficient in terms of space?) so if the scrolling's broken too I may just give up and go back to 6.x.

    This is yet another example of Skype using custom controls which do not mimic the full behavior of the standard controls in Windows. This is something that Microsoft themselves warn developers not to do, and have done for years. It's almost as if Skype were a masterclass on how not to implement a portable, accessible user interface. Blog post here: http://moteprime.org/article.php?id=59

  • Remember window scroll positions

    one thing that drives me mad with bridge is that it doesn't remember the scroll position of windows.
    for example:
    * i have a browser window open in bridge, with a load of folders full of images [i always sort my pohotos into folders labelled by date taken, so this is a common occurence]
    * i scroll to the bottom of the browser window and doubleclick one of the folders to open it.
    * i do whatever i need to do with the photos inside
    * i hit the back button to return me to the browser window for the enclosing folder
    * instead of returning me to the window, scrolled to where i left it, bridge scrolls the window to the top.  so i have to scroll back down again to find the next folder of images i want to open.
    it's really annoying and something that almost no other app or OS does.  even a web browser window remembers where it was scrolled to, when you hit the back button.
    please fix this adobe!

    Hi Elangsru,
    No there is not such program that does do that for you.
    I using a 24" Mac and ALL of my Applications that I use open ad FULL SCREEN.
    How I did that? Open one by one the Applications you are using and drag the window to the size you like, that's it. Next time you open the same Application it will be open at full screen ore what ever size you set it to.
    PS. the only Application I use and is NOT opening to the size I set it ore use it the last time is PhotoShop.

  • Window scrolling reversed in Lion.  Why?

    Window scrolling reversed in Lion.  Why?  I find it rather frustrating having been scrolling in the other direction for so many years.  Can this be corrected or changed in some way?  Is there a preference setting I can choose to make this change?

  • Is there a way to disable project window scrolling after creating a new subclip?

    I am often editing short aftermovies from parties and my workflow is as follows:
    1) Capture and stash movies in a single folder (there's very little possibility for planning particular shots or tagging videos on the fly)
    2) Ingest media into Prelude and go through the clips identifying useful footage, subclipping and tagging
    3) Rough cut (optionally) and fine cut to music in Premiere
    Now step 2 is where I'm being really slown down. I would ideally like to go through all the media as quickly as possible. Usually there's just one subclip per a clip.
    However every time I add a subclip the whole project window just scrolls down and focuses on the new subclip and to continue to the next clip I have to scroll up, tediously look for it or search for it by numbers.
    I thought that ordering the clips by date would solve this problem as I was expecting the focus to go to the subclip which should appear right next to the current clip. However there's an obvious bug in Prelude there. When you add a subclip while having Date created ordering on this happens: Subclip is first created at the bottom as with User ordering and the window focuses on that, then the subclip instantly moves after the current clip but the view doesn't refocus, leaving me in a possibly even worse situation.
    It would be awesome to either (or all):
    Remove the focus bug and refocus on the reordered subclip instantly
    Add an option to disable the automatic scrolling of the Project window
    Add keyboard shortcuts to go to next/previous clip
    Add more filtering options to the current Subclip only such as Clip only, Non-tagged clip only, Tagged clip only (ideally through some custom filter option with checkboxes so you could tailor them to your needs)
    Still it's a huge step up from the Premiere's multi window media organization nightmare but certain (possibly quite common) use cases are still very unrefined.
    If any of the above mentioned options are in there already, please let me know, thanks
    By the way when talking about Ordering related bugs, try creating a new Bin when having Date created sorting on. The Bin appears with its rename on, then it jumps to the top and voila you're renaming the last clip in the list. Like what the hell guys, do you even test the UI or is the CC turnaround too quick for that?

    Hi, not sure if you'll see this post but the option has been moved to the 'Universal Access' Preference pane in settings.
    This drove me utterly mad until I realized that.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why won't the timeline window scroll?

    In every version of Flash I have used (always on a Mac),
    including Flash 8, I can't use the scroll wheel or track pad to
    scroll up and down (or side to side, now that I have a MacBook pro
    ;-) in the time line window. Instead I have to stop what I'm doing
    and drag the scroll bar with the mouse, or use the scroll arrows.
    Over time when I am working on a complex project with lots of
    layers this becomes a real hassle. I need to be able to just get
    the cursor anywhere over the timeline and scroll...is that too much
    to ask?? :mad;

    D'oh!
    If that is truly the only solution I will have to
    live with it for now. It seems like a pretty basic bug to have
    gotten this far through so many versions, though...anybody else out
    there have the same problem?

  • Finder window scroll bar behaviour

    Hi folks,
    In a finder window in icon view normally I can scroll down to the end, go up to the enclosing folder and then back into the starting window and the scroll bar will be at the bottom, where I left it, which is perfect. Just recently it will always postion itself at the top of the window now, which is annoying to say the least. Any thoughts on why the finder behaviour changes apparently at random. I don't think there is a full moon tonight...
    Cheers,
    Matt

    Any other ideas?
    Yes just one more. Playing around with this in Finder, if the window is open wide enough there is no jump back. Least that's how it works for me, and I do keep that 'spring thing' deselected as a matter of course.

  • DOCTYPE and window scrolling break mouse capture positioning in IE6/IE8

    If I specify the DOCTYPE header in my html page the following bug is observed:
    If you scroll the browser window down using the scroll wheel or the scroll bar and click on the map, the position is recorded with a vertical offset of the amount in which the window was scrolled. This problem happens in IE6 and IE8 (non compatibility mode) Firefox and IE7 work fine. Removing the DOCTYPE specification from the HTML document resolves the scroll button but causes other HTML compliant styling issues that I would prefer not to tackle.
    The doc types that cause the error that I have experimented with:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    or
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    The bug seems to be an IE6/8 bug or abnormality
    var mouseLoc = mapview.getMouseLocation();
    Some reference to this problem and a low level fix is described here
    http://unixpapa.com/js/mouse.html (under Finding Mouse Positions)
    I did override a method in the (unfortunately obfuscated) oraclemap.js
    Add the following method 'after' loading the oraclemaps.js
    This resolves the problem - so far - i am unsure of any side effects it causes.
    MVUtil._f175=function(x56)
    x56=(x56)?x56:((window.event)?event:null);
    var x57=0;
    var x58=0;
    if(x56.pageX)
    x57=x56.pageX;
    x58=x56.pageY;
    else if(x56.clientX)
    x57=x56.clientX+document.body.scrollLeft-document.body.clientLeft;
    x58=x56.clientY+document.body.scrollTop-document.body.clientTop;
    // BUG FIX - Included the scrollTop in the check below....
    if(document.body.parentElement&&(document.body.parentElement.clientLeft || document.body.parentElement.scrollTop))
    var x59=document.body.parentElement;
    x57+=x59.scrollLeft-x59.clientLeft;
    x58+=x59.scrollTop-x59.clientTop;

    Add the doc type to the FIRST line of the HTML file
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    Add some javascript so that if you click on the map, it places a marker on the map at the point of the mouse click.
    Then show the map, resize the window so you have scroll bars (make it smaller). Scroll down and click the map, you will notice that the point clicked on is the offset by the distance that the window has been scrolled down.
